Hi Ed02, just wondered what the situation was with Tevez? And what striker will most likely end up at Anfield? I know we have Sturridge, origi and Ings, so that could be as far as we go I guess. Thanks again.

AJGREDS

{Ed002's Note - Boca Junios would like Carlos Tevez to return this summer but (a) money for a transfer and wages will be an issue, and (b) Daniel Angelici has seriously miffed Juventus by instructing Tevez to terminate his contract by whatever means are necessary. Trading some cash and options on midfield prospect Adrián Cubas, striker Guido Vadalá and/or Federico Bravo may be something that suits all parties - but the players would need to agree. Adrian Ruocco has said Tevez will see his contract out and then move to Boca as a free agent. I don't know of any interest from Liverpool in Tevez, although the Liverpool fans are getting their rocks off thinking about him.}

Thank you. So with Sky Sports (I know not always right ) they claim an English club is interested but not us. Any ideas or just rubbish?

{Ed002's Note - Try the European pages.}

Evening all, long time since I posted but still be following and hope everyone is well.

Quick question for any of the Eds really. You’ll have to excuse me but I am really naive when it comes to transfers and finances. I have been chatting to a mate of mine who suggests that Nike, our soon to be sponsors, can finance or at least help fund transfers. I argued that I’m not sure if that is how it works. He said that they can assist players in signing for a club.

I just wanted to clarify as assist and finance are two different things. What role do sponsors actually have in transfer dealings?

Long winded way of asking a question! Many thanks.

AJGREDS

{Ed002's Note - Nike cannot give additional money to Liverpool to sign players as it would count as third party interference. If Nike wish to become that involved with the game they should cancel/end/run down the contracts of the clubs they sponsor, buy a high end club and the run wild.}

1.) 05 Jul 2020 01:23:25
Thats clear Ed. However are there other ways that they can exert pressure. For example, if a player has a private sponsorship deal, can they then be rewarded for certain moves. Obviously illegal but in theory it can't be proved. To your knowledge is this possible and has it ever occurred?

{Ed002's Note - In the European game enormous amounts of efforts have been made to clean up all activity which is ilelgal. Sponsors such as Nike have always worked well within the rules.}

2.) 05 Jul 2020 09:50:49
Thank you Ed. Have a good one.

Just heard on the radio that Southampton are willing to listen to offers for Ryan Bertrand. Not saying we should go for him but is it an option that makes sense? 29, has two years left on contract, could be good cover? Thoughts?

AJGREDS

1.) 13 Jun 2019 10:39:45
Not for me mate, he wouldn't be an improvement in any way.

2.) 13 Jun 2019 10:48:12
No, at that age he'll want guaranteed playing time so why would we replace Robertson?

3.) 13 Jun 2019 11:40:14
we have closed our account with Southampton, we now shop in rome. Does roma have any surplus left backs we could sign?

4.) 13 Jun 2019 12:54:38
I'd sign Filipe Luis on a short term deal, he's just been released by Atletico Madrid and would be a steady experienced replacement for Robertson if he got injured. He was also apparently very good at helping both Theo and Lucas Hernandez (when they were both at Atletico) adjust to the LB position, he could do the same for Adam Lewis.

5.) 13 Jun 2019 12:59:11
Sure, as backup to Robbo.

6.) 13 Jun 2019 13:03:16
Lyon is the new Rome which was the new Southampton! 😉😂.

7.) 13 Jun 2019 20:11:49
OP, we already maxed out our credit card at the Saints and besides IMO, he is WAY past his best and wouldn't want him as back up to Robbo.

Just watched the final whistle back again and I looked down to the players in the dugout waiting to race on and the first thing I noticed was Mignolet. He went straight for Alisson and I mean sprinted. They are probably great mates now after working so closely with each other day in day out but was really nice to see. He seems like such a nice bloke and was delighted for him as much as anyone else. I was also chuffed that what was left of the 2014 title heartbreak team, Sturridge, Migs and Henderson, that had some sort of redemention and had something to show for their efforts over the years.

AJGREDS

1.) 03 Jun 2019 23:44:43
Yep, I've mentioned a couple of times that migs is often seen celebrating on the bench, genuinely. You notice it more as he's often sat near sturtudge. Lovren was also great.

2.) 05 Jun 2019 19:42:15
have loved migs, shaq and moreno's bench reactions when we're given the chance to see em. Regards Sturridge he is a bit of a fixed sour face but also comes across as the kind of footballer who doesn't watch games outside of playing it.

I would be happy if we only signed just 2 players this summer. One versatile defender and a midfielder/ attacker (one who can drop back into midfield and also act as cover up top) . I know it now seems unlikely and has been done to death but one that really fits this mould would be Nabil Fekir. I think I am living in fantasty now but just imagine the options. Fabinho, Gini, Ox, Hendo, Milner, Keita, Fekir. Bobby, Mane, Salah, Orgi, Brewster, Shaq, Fekir. He can cover the two most likely to leave, Sturridge and Lallana. Anyone have any other alternatives?

AJGREDS

1.) 25 May 2019 01:39:23
Rodrigo de Paul, can cover RW, LW, AM, as well as CM. Ziyech as well, can cover RW, AM, CM. We missed out on Kelly for LB, CB, cover. Laxalt interest is fading, LW, LB. I could name a few more but we don't appear to have any interest.

2.) 25 May 2019 01:51:17
My ideal window would be Reina (experienced backup GK), Neres/ Depay (versatile forward) and Sessegnon/ Guerrero from BVB (backup LB and LM) .

3.) 25 May 2019 02:15:20
I hope so AJGREDS. I am sure there are ambitious players out there who would look at Bobby and challenge themselves to fight for that false 9 slot in the attacking trio. Bobby is incredible but if someone exceptional comes in and Bobby raises his consistency then together they will force Klopp to play a 4-2-3-1 system. Fekir will be ideal for that role.

4.) 25 May 2019 10:21:35
I agree hhan there will be a player out there who backs himself to force his way into the first 11. Either as an AM intead of OX or Keita or the false 9 role. There seems to be many players available we should trust the club to buy the right one.

Like when Salah came in, from the start he made himself undroppable.

5.) 25 May 2019 12:53:03
we need an GK, AM, defender if not 2; 1 that play across the back line and 1 specialist full back.

6.) 25 May 2019 12:54:55
I don't agree with this concept of having "generalists" stacked into the team. Having one or two is great (Milner and Ox), but I'd rather have position specialists who are in the top ten at what they do. And bringing in 2 players is not going to be enough. Sturridge and Moreno are definitely leaving. Mignolet, Clyne and Lallana probably too. That's already 5.

7.) 25 May 2019 22:47:49
This team/ squad finished on 97 pts. I understand we need to keep moving forward but for me there is not too much we need to change. Remember, players are allowed to improve and we have a young squad, keeping them together is the best thing we can do. City bought in one player last summer. I did miss the fact we probably will need a back up keeper.

Afternoon all, anyone have any recommendations of the best bars, clubs that will be showing the final in Liverpool/ Wirral? I am not from the area but family live in the Wirral. Looking for a family friendly place as I want to take my boy. Any help would be appreciated.

AJGREDS

1.) 23 May 2019 16:36:52
M&S arena is showing it.

2.) 23 May 2019 16:53:56
Head over to Liverpool mate. I’m not sure if the mns arena has tickets left but that will be good. Stay away from Birkenhead plus a 5 mile radius, full of idiots looking for a reason to start and if you’re not from the area that’ll be the perfect excuse for them. Anywhere around the city centre and you’ll have a good time mate.

3.) 23 May 2019 17:18:30
Most bars are ticket only. Aintree on the screens might have tickets left. Look on Arena or LFC website for the MS showing. I think you should look at getting a ticket as you don't want to go all the way and miss the game.

Last year Anfield, Aintree, Arena and other large venues all sold out. This year no Anfield so will be packed everywhere. They should have booked Tranmere's ground as well.

4.) 23 May 2019 17:18:58
Thank you mate. Yeah the tickets that went on general sale today sold out for M&S Bank Arena. Just want to enjoy the experience with fellow reds and no idiots!

5.) 23 May 2019 17:28:59
All pubs sold out in Liverpool 😯.

6.) 23 May 2019 17:36:45
markp08 thank you mate. Reckon Aintree will be good.

7.) 23 May 2019 17:50:30
Aintree racecourse? To be honest though buddy I’m not sure how ‘family friendly’ everywhere will be it’s late kick off isn’t it and everyone will be drinking sweating etc but I think must bars will be pumping! Sorry I wasn’t much help.

8.) 23 May 2019 21:03:28
500 Anfield tickets just gone on say. Check Echo or LFC site. Family bar.

good luck.

9.) 23 May 2019 21:30:47
No don't worry SJ, I am probably going to leave the lad at home! I went to Anfield and it was buzzing, it's the next best thing to not being able to be there. Thanks all for your help.

10.) 23 May 2019 23:02:42
Thank you Markp08. Would never had found that, but look difficult to get tickets. Thanks again.

How old was Gary Mac when we signed him? 35 I reckon and what a job he did for us. I know he was free but just because their legs have gone doesn’t mean they couldn’t do a job. Won everything with Barcelona and who in our current squad has won anything of note? I’m not saying we should sign him but at a good price I think he will bring a wealth of experience and knows what it’s like to win.

To be fair it's not like our defence has been leaking goals for the last three years and all our centre backs have been so consistent.

Ed 002, can you explain again for me please or is there an area I can look for, for your comments on Klopp? Just interested as most fans are completely in love with the guy.

RM - Bit harsh on Brendan there mate, sure he worked pretty hard to get to where he is. Don’t think attitude was a problem, just not quite good enough.

I have utmost respect for Glenn Hoddle but my god, I can imagine he is still chuntering away to himself about how they were the better team and that it was never a penalty!

1st half, they had more possesion but I can't remember any guilt edge chances. We were more aggressive for our goal, winning a few headers in the build up and Henderson playing Mane in behind. I thought they defended the situation poorly.

Yes 2nd half the had a few shots on goal but that's why you have a goalkeeper right? And they were more pot shots as apposed to clear cut chances. We had our chance and took it, they didn't deal with our corner and then bang. Had this been a Mourihno team, they would have said that we done a job on Spurs.

I am taking nothing away from them, they played well but, maybe through tinted glasses, I thought we were just more professional on the day and deserved the victory.
