After listening to the latest Sharkopod it sounds like Liverpool will be packed with midfielders after the summer, with Wijnaldum, Lallana, Henderson, Keita, Grujic, Milner, a Coutinho replacement and potentially Andre Gomes. Surely some of the midfielders we currently have will need to be moved on?

AIDZ76

1.) 20 Nov 2017 10:23:15
I believe Klopp looking to offload Henderson, Milner and Gruljic.

2.) 20 Nov 2017 11:02:17
Andre gomez? Eew.

3.) 20 Nov 2017 11:22:15
Relax - you believe, or you just want?

4.) 20 Nov 2017 12:41:48
I will bet my house that Klopp doesn't try to offload Henderson.

5.) 20 Nov 2017 14:42:23
Putney, I agree, Hendo has to stay .

6.) 20 Nov 2017 19:28:14
Klopp rates Grujic I can’t see him being sold on just yet.

7.) 20 Nov 2017 21:20:27
Can coutinho and Milner our, leaves us lallana Keita hendo gini as first team and grujic. For three positions that's 4 plus one - could see another come in even!

8.) 22 Nov 2017 12:48:33
Meyer and Lemar to replace Couts, thanks.

9.) 23 Nov 2017 16:25:54
No one wants Hendo he has to stay.

29 Jul 2017 14:30:37
I have seen rumours linking us with striker Max Kruse over the last few weeks. Surely rubbish with the amount of strikers currently at our disposal?

AIDZ76

1.) 29 Jul 2017 23:20:35
Not needed, looking at Solanke.

05 Mar 2017 20:25:42
Any truth in Liverpool being interested in goalkeeper Alex Meret?

AIDZ76

1.) 05 Mar 2017 20:47:17
Look at the post below.

27 Jan 2017 11:05:04
Hi eds, any interest in Real Betis left back Riza Durmisi? Thanks.

AIDZ76

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of any approach to his club or his agent from Liverpool and generall don't know much about Durmisi. He moved there last summer after no interest was shown by Dutch or German sides and the interest of Reading was rebuffed. He is a left wing back - and to the best of my knowledge Real Betis has no interest in selling.}

1.) 27 Jan 2017 17:25:54
Why on earth would he sign I new contract bumping his price up therefore making it harder for him to leave if he wanted to leave? Just ridiculous. Things can change in football as we all know but I'd say Couts is here for at least another season yet.

2.) 27 Jan 2017 19:07:12
Just to point out I am the negative one and the op in my opinion is correct

20 Jan 2017 20:11:22
Hi eds, say Sturridge or Firmino or Coutinho were to leave, do you think LFC might try for Aguero? Thanks.

AIDZ76

{Ed025's Note - i would doubt it mate..

1.) 20 Jan 2017 21:19:06
With the news on this so called Aguero he is a 17 yr old who bayern Munich are after and looking at. the real reason everyone is going on about him is that he has the same name as the city player but he has said, if he were to pick a club to be his next move it would indeed be Liverpool football club.

2.) 21 Jan 2017 07:46:28
What year are we talking Bilio?

3.) 21 Jan 2017 12:37:23
I believe Billo is quoting a skysports article from years ago when Rafa was in charge. Its comes up if you put aguero liverpool into google search. It does concern the real aguero.

02 Nov 2016 21:26:27
Hi eds, I know you do not think Lovren is good enough for the current LFC team, but my question is, who would your choice be to replace him? Are there any adequate centre backs available currently? Thanks.

AIDZ76

{Ed002's Note - There are always centre backs available - but the decent ones come at a price.}

1.) 02 Nov 2016 23:33:57
Toby was the one we miss out on.

2.) 03 Nov 2016 02:36:26
Virgil Van Dijk, Sule and Rugani just to name a few.

3.) 03 Nov 2016 10:20:36
Entertain me for a minute, but I'd raid Spurs for Kevin Wimmer. Far too good to be playing second fiddle. Last season when Vertonghen was out Wimmer looked every bit as good as him.

Plus we need a left sided centre back if it is to replace Sakho/ Lovren. Matip has the right sided slot nailed down already. Wimmer just fits the bill for me. Prem experience, good on set pieces, comfortable on the ball so much so he can even play left back, only turns 24 in a couple of weeks etc. We always look to sign big name Charlie's for mega money but sometimes the guys stuck on the bench behind top quality players just need a chance to kick start their careers. See Coutinho, Can, Sturridge for evidence! 3 of our best players, all deemed surplus to requirements by Inter Milan, Bayern Munich and Chelsea/ Man City.

Don't knock Wimmer for being stuck behind the best centre back pairing in the Prem!

He'd be the man I'd look to anyway. Klopp might pluck another bargain out of the Bundesliga!

4.) 03 Nov 2016 10:51:27
MK

Wimmer is a decent choice, wouldn't cost ransom but it is still an expirement, He isn't a finished article and that is what I would prefer right now.
This club is just 2-3 players from total dominance in the league. let's bring some experience.

5.) 03 Nov 2016 12:05:22
2-3 players from total dominance 😎

Kovacic, Kante and a centre back then?

Personally I would not want to stunt the development of Gomez.

6.) 03 Nov 2016 12:23:22
Harry, Wimmer will be 24 by next summer. That is the same age as Lovren and Matip when they signed and older than Sakho.

Last season he played regularly for Spurs for about 3 months and it was one of their best spells of form in the entire season.

I get what you mean, but signing a 28 year old centre back to slot into the first team is just not going to happen in my opinion. It is not the way (historically) that Klopp operates. His major signings are almost exclusively under 25 years old. He has signed older players for cover (Klavan, Manninger) but all of his main signings are younger guys who aren't household names (Karius, Matip, Wijnaldum, Mane etc) . Check his transfer record at Dortmund and you'll see it is exactly the same. He likes working with younger players because his high octane style is not something not many players can adapt to later in their careers.

Wimmer is already a top defender, but one who still has plenty of potential and won't cost a bomb. In the modern market he will probably be circa £20m due to his long contract but that is pittance in football terms nowadays (sadly) .

I'm sure Klopp has an ace up his sleeve that nobody here has even considered but it is very clear to me that he will be investing into the defence. Matip and Karius are just the start. He has already removed Skrtel, Sakho, Toure and Mignolet and is phasing out Moreno as well.

I'm intrigued to see who he targets. Wimmer is merely my opinion, not an expectation. I think you will be disappointed if you are expecting a finished article in their late 20's or early 30's though.

7.) 03 Nov 2016 13:34:06
I get your point. I wouldn't gamble a player at the back. we have been doing this cat and mouse game long enough. Nothing against the player. I had a quick word with a source on his days at kLON. They all have beem positive except he hasn't featured at spurs who are playing Dier at CB.
I would look to Fonte ( don't shoot me down ) He is a leader and a top class defender to me.

{Ed001's Note - I actually agree with MKS on this one. And Wimmer played at the back alongside Dier, so no idea where you got it from that Dier played instead of him at the back.}

8.) 03 Nov 2016 13:47:45
I'll get the bubbly and cigars Ed! It's been a long wait! Haha.

{Ed001's Note - it wouldn't have been so long but I was out and editing on my phone initially so couldn't be bothered to type a reply to your OP, but I did think it was an excellent shout in terms of player quality. I am not so sure his price would be a good one though. Levy would ask the earth for us to buy a player from them.}

9.) 03 Nov 2016 14:10:25
Yeah I think if it was any other club we could nab him for about £15m but Spurs will probably want anything up to twice that amount! Levy is stubborn as well. He wouldn't back down!

10.) 03 Nov 2016 14:52:59
Van Dyke is not good enough, IMO. He only looks the part. Wimmer, I don`t know a lot about. Sule? He is a great choice. Watched him play at the Olympics with Germany and he has all the tools to be graet and for good measure, that German Olympic team of Sule, Brandt, Serger Gnabry, and Max Meyer amongst others looked superb.

11.) 03 Nov 2016 14:39:56
My bad on that Ed01. Lewy wouldn't sell him to us. Infact the top 6 doesn't exchange players.

02 Nov 2016 07:54:10
Hi eds, was wondering if you could please answer a question for me. I know you don't rate Van Dijk highly but why does every commentator and journalist talk about him being the most 'complete' defender in England? Thanks.

AIDZ76

{Ed001's Note - because he has all the ability in the world, just none of the mental attributes required. Whenever you watch Southampton being attacked quickly, you will see him end up caught hopelessly out of position at some point, stood watching the play develop making no attempt to get back in. Those are the kind of things commentators and journalists haven't the ability to spot, as they are so busy watching the ball, they don't see what individual players actually do away from it. They will see him being strong and winning tackles or headers, but not the times when he is posted missing, as he is nowhere near the ball.

The thing is, he is strong, fast, good in the air and on the ball, so he should be the best defender in the Prem. Technically he is like a stronger, faster, better on the ball John Stones. Sadly he is as prone to stupidity and defensive lapses, so he is more of a Stones than an Alderweireld.}

1.) 02 Nov 2016 08:21:30
On a similar note Ed01, How do you rate John Stones. He was opnce again terrible yesterday.

{Ed001's Note - I don't rate him at all. He has no defensive intelligence at all. He simply can not defend.}

2.) 02 Nov 2016 08:24:59
Y is he rated so high by his own club and Everton. Good on the ball, Yes but what is that actually. He could pick a player forward so does David Luiz. Positionally inept. He is the most expensive defender in the history of this game.

3.) 02 Nov 2016 08:33:47
For once Harry I agree with you, Stones is awful, and they went and paid all that money for him, when it happened I was gobsmacked, before it happened all the talk about him moving on for a while made me think why are these top teams wanting him, he's got nothing to offer what so ever, 20 million would've been a joke nevermind what was paid for him.

4.) 02 Nov 2016 08:56:32
Thanks for the reply ED1. Do you believe, over time, that he will eventually develop those mental attributes required? Thanks.

{Ed001's Note - no, I think he is too laid back to have the desire needed to become the player he should be. You need to have the drive or hunger of a Carragher to really get the utmost out of your talents. VVD clearly does not have that, he doesn't even seem bothered by the goals conceded while he is stood watching on the edge of the box, or at least he doesn't seem to realise he is to blame and looks to blame others.}

5.) 02 Nov 2016 09:18:09
I think a lot of the time people see defenders who have ball skills and automatically see them as a great defenders. It is not always the case.

6.) 02 Nov 2016 10:13:02
Will expect us to throw another 25m at the Saints then Ed in the next year or so 😆.

7.) 02 Nov 2016 13:53:51
Ed already raised these issues with VVD in the recent past. So I watched the Saints game vs Chelsea last Sunday and was monitoring him closely and Ed is bang on the money. VVD has all the physical attributes to be a top class CB. However, he didn`t seem bothered to track back, get into better defensive positions. The guy isn`t even fit to lace Matip`s boots so how he`s getting rated that high is beyond me. As for Stones, if he was not English, no one would care as it is appalling how terrible he is as a defender yet many "pundits" say he`s the future for England. If VVD is not fit to lace Matip`s boots, then Stones is not fit to be anywhere near them. If he`s the future for England, then don`t be surprised as to why England are perennial failures on the world stage for 50 years.

8.) 02 Nov 2016 18:03:45
Ed01 what about John Stones do you think he learn and improve the defensive side of his game as he gets older and more experienced. Or do you think playing in a pep side won't really improve his defensive side of the game?

{Ed001's Note - I don't think he is any good, nor does he have the manager to improve his defending added to a lack of inclination to improve.}

9.) 03 Nov 2016 00:00:16
What would you change or who would you sign to sort out the problems we seem to have Ed?

We have been bad for a long time at the back. Very open to conceding silly or stupid goals.

I always thought a more defensive minded coach should be added to the backroom along with a new keeper coach. Both areas need addressed for sure. And haven't been to my knowledge. The zonal system isn't great either but can work so it's more the coaching side I see as the problem. Maybe klopp has a guy already? Haha

Your wisdom is awaited . lol thanks.

{Ed001's Note - keeper coach, that would be my first change. Achterberg is a great guy, but he is not improving our keepers, so I would add a more experience guy over him and give him the chance to learn from that coach.

By the way, we do NOT play a zonal system, I keep hearing those moronic pundits moaning about it, purely because they are clueless and moronic. We clearly play the standard mixed system 99% of teams use. Some man mark, the rest pick up zones. It is standard fare, not an issue once we get a keeper commanding the area and organising it properly.}

17 Feb 2016 15:55:14
Hi eds, could you please provide a list of players you would go for in the summer, similar to the one in 2014 with Handanovic, Sanson etc? Thanks.

AIDZ76

{Ed002's Note - Remind me next week and I will give it a shot Aidz76.}

1.) 17 Feb 2016 19:40:03
Ok shot ed2 mate.

04 Feb 2016 04:10:18
Hi eds, might be a random name but I think is a beast and just wanted your opinion on him. What do you think of Kouyate at West Ham? Thanks.

AIDZ76

{Ed001's Note - he is alright, very good player with pace, power and height, but he is not top bracket and makes up for his lack of ability by being physical.}

1.) 04 Feb 2016 08:23:10
Opinions on Robbie Bradey ed?

{Ed001's Note - poor left back, average left midfielder, who offers nothing bar the odd good cross. Can't defend, but works hard. Championship level.}

2.) 04 Feb 2016 09:05:51
@Ed001, I think you have a typo for Kouyate - swap 'physical' for 'filty' :)

Agree with you on Brady being a poor left back but I think he's a good option for midfield and is definitely midtable premiership level. Good at crossing, decent at shooting, very good at set pieces and he works hard and looks to get on the ball to make things happen.

{Ed001's Note - no positional sense and no intelligent runs says he is not good enough for the Prem.}

3.) 04 Feb 2016 11:04:28
I agree he is suspect defensively, on the occasions I have watched him this season his desire and delivery from wide/ set pieces have impressed me. I have a mate who follows Norwich and he's convinced that Brady has been their standout player, not that it's difficult to standout there haha ;) anyway appreciate the response ed mate.

{Ed001's Note - it is a bit like being the least worst pub player on a Sunday. It just means you were the only one that wasn't nursing a hangover in that game. You are welcome mate.}

4.) 04 Feb 2016 13:30:41
I think you're being harsh on the lad but that's what opinions are about, can't agree on everything!

30 Jan 2016 08:36:41
Hi eds, do you think Clyne has improved? If not, who would you choose to replace him? Thanks.

AIDZ76

{Ed001's Note - no and Flanagan.}

1.) 30 Jan 2016 13:02:59
Flanno pretty much personifies the attitude Klopp expects from his teams, I expect he will be the first choice before long.

2.) 30 Jan 2016 14:29:00
Will be a tight game unless we can hit the back of the net

If we play to our full ability I can only see us winning and the margin we win by makes no difference unless there's a few quid on it 🤔.

So do we need a leader at the back? Or can Sakho fill that position? Also, would you have Lovren or Skrtel in your squad? Thanks.

AIDZ76

{Ed001's Note - Sakho is fine as a leader, but you need more than one leader really. You need the fiery leader to get the players up for the game and working hard. You also need a leader who stays calm and leads with his mind rather than his heart. We had that in the past, we don't right now. Agger was probably the only calm head we have had in recent years, we need that kind of calming presence now.}
