Ed002
Real Madrid are rumoured to be ready to sell some players this summer, to help fund the Mbappe deal and maybe a couple of other new signings.
Of their existing players, will Tchouameni, Valverde, Rodrygo become available?

Agree0 Disagree6

{Ed002's Note - Rodrygo Goes (RW/S) Real Madrid have no interest in selling but PSG did ask for him as part of a deal for Mbappe before he let his contract run down. Many Liverpool fans think there is some sort of pre-contract to join them, but of course their isn't. He agreed a new contract at Real Madrid and won't be moving anytime soon unless something like €120M offer is made or he could perhaps be offered to Liverpool in an exchange for Alexander Arnold. There will always be interest in him and with Mbappe arriving he may need to make his way back to the RW position - although the wide positions are areas where Real Madrid want more depth.
Aurelien Tchouameni (CM/DM) Real Madrid do not wish to sell but recovering the money spent last year would go a long way towards topping up the Mbappe pot. Real Madrid has spoken to with Chelsea, who were previously blocked from completing negotions, about him during discussions over two other players and some sort of exchange may be possible. Bayern Munich have also told Real Madrid that they will be interested if he were to be made available, but they would like a loan with an option to buy although an exchange may be possible with Davies. Manchester United would be interested in taking him if available. There is no declared interest from elsewhere and any move seems unlikely with Arsenal already signing Rice. Previously illegally tapped up by Klopp but Liverpool have other targets.
Federico Valverde (CM) New contract and staying.}

What do you think of a deal involving Rodrygo for Trent Ed’s? Not so much whether it could happen but do you think it would make any sense for us?

Agree0 Disagree21

{Ed001's Note - no, it would be crazy to let Trent go.}

Rodrygo for Trent?

Looking forward to trent returning to the team.

ED2 there is news circulating that Real Madrid is looking to sign Trent. How true is this and what is the contract situation at Liverpool. Thanks.

Agree0 Disagree12

{Ed002's Note - Trent Alexander-Arnold (RB/RWB/RM) Seen by Real Madrid as an othing to Reece James. May offer an exchange for Rodrygo Goes. I am not aware of a new contract being offered just yet but it will likely be on the to do list of Edwards.}

23 Mar 2024 15:13:35
He could definitely go as Bellinghams there. I hope we don't go stupid on wages for him. If mardrid offer a huge amount and he wants the move, then so be it.

23 Mar 2024 15:51:47
Didn't Trent sign a new contract a short while back?

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Mar 2024 16:54:33
Depends entirely on Trent's position for me (and I suspect for him as well) . If the club see him as a full back I reckon he'll want to go as he sees himself as a midfielder. In this instance I would sell him. If we play him as the right sided CM I think he's priceless and I think that's want he's going to want as well to sign a new deal. Really want this to happen. Been saying the same thing for nearly 5 years.

24 Mar 2024 05:24:59
I was over in Liverpool last August and mentioned on here last September that I’d been told by a relative who knows a couple of people ‘associated with the club’ that TAA was learning Spanish. The person who told me seemed to believe that what he was saying was true.

Agree3 Disagree0

24 Mar 2024 08:29:27
TAA touted as generation Talent but unfortunately at wrong timing as Liverpool academy is producing a generation of generational talents.

Agree2 Disagree0

24 Mar 2024 09:36:09
I can see TAA fitting in well at Real Madrid and he's better than Dani Carvajal. He'd be playing with the likes of Mbappe, Valverde, Tchouaméni, Vinicius Júnior, Bellingham, Camavinga, Endrick, Alphonso Davies. He'd play under Ancelotti for a couple of seasons and then maybe reunite with Klopp.

Agree1 Disagree0

24 Mar 2024 09:44:48
Ultimately if Madrid want him and he wants to go, then it’s not the end of the world, particularly if they’d be prepared to offer Rodrygo in part exchange. Bradley has shown he’s more than capable at right back so it’s not like we’d be left short.

Agree2 Disagree0

24 Mar 2024 11:16:19
Trent will sign a new long term contract before the start of next season. He wants to stay, absolutely no interest in joining RM.

Agree6 Disagree0

24 Mar 2024 11:43:46
Trents a lifer, great having Bradley coming through but this is TAA were talking about. With a year left Madrid are only sniffing around with the hope they could unsettle him and get him on the cheap.

Agree3 Disagree0

24 Mar 2024 14:27:56
Just a theoretical question.

If Trent stays and is moved to midfield who is he replacing in people’s strongest 3 and if he stays at Right back what does that mean for Bradley moving forward?

Either way it’s good problems to have for whoever the new manager is.

Agree2 Disagree0

24 Mar 2024 15:37:51
Doesn't Alonso play with three at the back? If so then TAA isn't replacing anyone in midfield.

Agree0 Disagree3

{Ed001's Note - he has played 4 at the back as well.}

24 Mar 2024 18:09:36
You really have to laugh concerning trent. No player is predictable. If Madrid put in a huge offer, the club will listen to it and so will trent. I'd put money on trent making the move too. Probably double the wages and seeing himself as a superstar in sunny Spain is highly attractive.

Agree2 Disagree1

{Ed025's Note - absolutely MIZER..

24 Mar 2024 19:06:24
The thought of losing Trent going into the season was unthinkable. Now not so much with the emergence of Bradley. If the money is right and he wants the move, it's good for both parties then good luck to the lad. Be hard to turn down playing with those players in THAT stadium and living in the sun. But I'll be ecstatic if he extends w us. Win-win.

Agree3 Disagree0

24 Mar 2024 19:10:36
Ed025, i find a lot of fans soo naive because he's a "Liverpool lad". His demeanor changed long ago and he's an arrogance to him. I don't care what he does behind the scenes or the PR stuff. Either Liverpool will offer stupid wages and he'll show his "loyalty" or if his contract isn't sorted straight away and Madrid are knocking with a serious offer, he's gone. His best mate and arguably now the most famous footballer in the world is in mardrid in Bellingham and I'm sure all that would suit him. I could care less if he goes. I support players that want to be here and the club is far bigger than anyone that always ends up leaving.

Agree3 Disagree4

{Ed025's Note - your spot on MIZER, i have always said that if a player is not fully committed to the club then move them on, its very naive to think that a player was going to stay because hes a local lad mate...it just doesn,t work like that..its all about the money..

24 Mar 2024 19:13:22
I’ve seen it rain in Madrid @Mizer.

Agree2 Disagree0

25 Mar 2024 00:34:43
‘No player is bigger than the club’ is often touted and completely true, but to compete at the very top of the game you need players that can do the extraordinary.

Trent is one of those game changers (like Salah and VVD) and is able to create chances with his passes that very few others can even see, let alone deliver.

We let him go at our peril, because replacing him with another game changer at the highest level would not be cheap or easy.

Agree4 Disagree0

25 Mar 2024 09:01:49
Unless they come through our Academy system @SG.

Agree2 Disagree0

25 Mar 2024 19:20:03
the 'no player is bigger than the club' line gets touted out when someone doesn't like a player.

The generation of generational talents coming out of the academy are highly unlikely to altogether deliver the production that Trent did at the same age.

I really think people are so un-loyal to our own players we forget what we actually have.

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - loyalty is a two way street though faith..

26 Mar 2024 10:15:03
25 - got it but you’re not saying Trent hasn’t been loyal are you? I’m assuming you’re saying that as a general statement and I’m sure you’ll understand the nuance of what I’m saying here.

Here we have a Liverpool kid, risen through the academy, turned into a superstar, now has a few defensive lapses and suddenly there are fans ready to fling him off for next new model off the conveyor belt. That kind of “fan loyalty” is gross to me and imo is where the “loyalty goes two ways ends.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - it was a generalization faith of course, i dont know about "superstar" but hes certainly a talented player who could become one, i get what you mean about fan loyalty though mate and was dismayed what a couple on here were saying about Darwin after the United game, im afraid its the symptom of the microwave generation these days..

27 Mar 2024 10:21:13
25 - and the Gakpo hate after the Manu game too. Genuinely embarrassed to read some of the comments from our fans. For me, fans job is to be loyal until a player gives a reason otherwise. And by reason, I don’t mean missing a goal or a tackle I mean something like a player becomes toxic, sits out etc etc players make mistakes and surely our job is to support them to do better. Like what’s the point wasting energy bagging on our own players lol not like we can just replace them every weekend hahahaha.

Any substance in the rumours Rayan Aït-Nouri from Wolves?

Agree0 Disagree7

{Ed002's Note - Rayan Ait-Nouri (LWB) Barcelona's interest in Ait-Nouri has likely moved on as they focus on another.The player is on the list of LB options Chelsea are considering but they have a far preferred option. Potential option for Arsenal who need to bolster the position or Liverpool if they look to upgrade on Robertson although his injury issues seem to now be behind him. PSG have declared an interest in Ait-Nouri to replace Kurzawa and it is where his agent would like him to move to - but he would not be first pick.}

22 Mar 2024 10:38:24
Is there any interest in Robertson Ed?

Agree0 Disagree8

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of any interest nor in Liverpool looking to sell him as they have other priorities to address.}

22 Mar 2024 11:35:46
Hi Ed002,

Given the emergence of Quansah, Bradley, Clark, McConnel, Danns and Bajcetic, would the club still need to go into the market?

Agree0 Disagree14

{Ed002's Note - Yes, I would expect the club to still look to specific priorities such as replacing Salah, perhaps another goalkeeper, deciding what to do with the likes of Sepp van den Berg who is doing very well on loan and maybe replacing Diaz. Then there is the difficult situation of DM - keep Endo and Bajcetic or upgrade? Perhaps the youngsters could avoid the need to replace Thiago Alcantara - I am not so sure.}

22 Mar 2024 11:57:51
Diaz upgrade is needed even if salha stays would go all in for vini if real get m app and build team round him.

Agree5 Disagree0

22 Mar 2024 12:07:39
Thank you Ed002

I think we need an attacker who can play LW/ RW, a DM so we can loan Baj or replace Endo and a CB to eventually replace Vvd.

Agree5 Disagree12

{Ed002's Note - I think there is reasonable depth on the LW but a RW, ideally left-footed continues to be the priority. The DM position is the one Liverpool have contuned to search for without much luck. With Matip off I rather doubt VvD will be leaving this summer.}

22 Mar 2024 12:55:01
Vinicius Jnr at Liverpool more dreaming like with Mbappe and Jude. We make players into stars we don’t sign ready made stars.

Agree11 Disagree0

22 Mar 2024 17:40:36
Madrid wouldn’t sell Vinicius but I wonder if Rodrygo would become available with Endrick and Mbappe signing.

Agree4 Disagree0

22 Mar 2024 17:57:42
Replacing Salah and Diaz in one window sounds like a lot of work.

Agree6 Disagree0

22 Mar 2024 19:32:43
It would speak volumes about the character of AitNouri if after dedicating years to learning how to understand the accent in Wolverhampton he upped and moved to Liverpool of all places! 🤣.

Agree11 Disagree0

22 Mar 2024 20:29:43
Salah has intimated that he is up for renewing again, no?
I wonder if Eddie and the club would maintain his current wage on a new contract. He is a 7 season wonder, with no indication that he is going to stop scoring 20 a season anytime soon, so maybe some young competition is the best way for now.

Why would we sell Diaz, when he has been the best player on the pitch on numerous occasions? Does he want to leave already?

Why on earth would we look to replace Endo, a legend in the making, and Baj, a top class young player? I for one wanted Caicedo and yet couldn't have been more misguided considering how good Endo has been. Endo could play on for 4/ 5 years at this level.

I'd like to see a High level CB brought in to replace Matip if Sepp is not to be given a chance, but our youth set up and its riches should be given priority.

Agree12 Disagree0

22 Mar 2024 16:34:35
Eds, it is more a case of supplementing Endo or replacing him outright? Or is Endo a filler until Bajetic get's back to fitness and experience?

Agree1 Disagree7

{Ed002's Note - It is about having a DM player who can excel.}

22 Mar 2024 21:31:25
It depends what you mean by excel though.

With Endo finding his feet, so to speak, our defence looks solid and our attacking midfield options have been freed up to actually attack (esp. Macca) . He also seems to instil the team with a bit more self confidence and VVD, Joe, Ibou and young Quansah all look like they have benefitted from having him playing in front of them. The first three seem a lot happier this season than last. I think you could make a good case that the team is excelling even if Endo, himself, will never be mentioned as a generational talent, as the current ‘buzz phrase’ would have it.

Agree3 Disagree0

22 Mar 2024 23:48:48
Endo brings terrific defensive cover but less in the way of creativity. It is noticable how opposition players don't always close him down when he is in possession as they know he will not hurt them with a killer pass or drive through dribbling.

Ideally we need a DM who is a monster tackling and also with real pace to cover the counter attack. Someone who is comfortable dropping into a back three and possesses an offensive threat.

Maybe Bajcetic can be the solution.

Fabinho was amazing in his prime!

Agree2 Disagree20

{Ed001's Note - and yet Endo has played a number of killer passes since joining.}

23 Mar 2024 04:05:03
Curious Ed1, who out there that you think can be a replacement for VVD in the future? I know you are a fan of both Saliba and Gvardiol, but both are never going to happen. Someone that maybe realistic option for Liv?

Agree0 Disagree9

{Ed001's Note - with the changes coming to PSR, it might well have to be someone from the academy. Quansah has a good chance of being the long term replacement. Other than that, I don't really see any outstanding youngsters ready to step up. Lots of good ones out there, but none that look to be next level at the moment.}

23 Mar 2024 07:02:06
Hi Ed001,

Would you assume that transfers would be on hold until the new manager is appointed who will obviously have his/ her own targets in mind?

Having said that, what are your thoughts on Endo's lack of pace and is there is real need to upgrade in that position?

I like the look of Quansah and for me, he is the Matip replacement.

My opinion is that Tsimikas will be sold and probably a LCB/ LB will be bought; a RW/ RF and a DM. Question is, who will that be.

Rob.

Agree0 Disagree24

{Ed001's Note - the whole point of the new set up is that the manager shouldn't really make a lot of difference to transfer plans.

I can't believe people are making up excuses to want to change Endo after his performances. This pace bollox is the latest. All because people want a shiny new toy that costs lots, rather than just someone who is damn good at the job.}

23 Mar 2024 09:00:06
I’d be amazed if the club went out and spent money on a new DM because Endo has been outstanding and up there with Rodri. we have Bajcetic plus Trent who could also cover and even Gomez has played there this season. Surly we only spend on replacing players that are leaving.

Agree3 Disagree0

22 Mar 2024 21:11:11
Hi Ed002

Do you know if we retain any interest in Andre Trindade, Khephren Thuram or Alan Varela?

. or is there anyone else on the radar?

Thanks in advance.

Agree0 Disagree7

{Ed002's Note - Andre Trindade (DM) Recommended to Liverpool as Fabinho cover a couple of years ago but their interest has only come to the fore with Fabinho departing, but they may well have dropped the ball on this one now and stepped back. Arsenal have scouted the player and may just make a move with Edu being praised as being more respectful than a representative of another club, but I would think such a move unlikely. Prior interest of Barcelona and Braga has gone. I would not totally rule out Napoli but they may be some way off meeting the transfer fee or indeed Manchester United who will need a Casemiro replacement. Manchester City will need a Phillips replacement and may also make an offer. Fulham are keen to take him if Bayern Munich return and they lose Palinha - Fulham have worked on deal to overcome the issue of Fluminense only owning 80% of his rights and have agreed a fee with Fluminense, so it is still in the hands of the player to decide if he wants to move to Fulham or not, but it will only happen should Palhinho leave in the summer. Atletico offer an option.
Alan Varela (DM) Barcelona may offer a profit to Porto and a player in exchange. PSG has a declared interest. An option for Manchester City to replace Phillips, but not first choice although they have spoken with Porto. Liverpool may provide an option having sent scouts but there is no declared interest. Dortmund will not match his buy out clause. Porto has no interest in selling the player who only joined them in the summer of 2023 unless someone offered his buy out clause in a single payment, then the player will be consulted.
Khephren Thuram (DM/CM) Nice felt they were messed around by clubs last summer and then the player picked up an injury. Interest of Spurs and, in particular, Juventus remains but Liverpool will look to other options. Interest of Newcastle will likely of fallen away. If interest further grows his price will rise and the club would sell given the emergence of Alexis Beka Beka regardless of impressive youngster Reda Belahyane being sold to Verona. Nice do not want to sell and again a move to OLd Trafford will not be welcomed by the Nice supporters. Real Madrid have him on a list of potential additions given they are facing midfield departures in the summer - and I would not rule them, or indeed Manchester City, out. Player wants PSG but they have no interest at this time - but his representative is pushing PSG as well as Real Madrid and will encourage the player to wait and see what happens.

Liverpool do continue to scout DM players.}

22 Mar 2024 21:36:39
Do Liverpool have Jaden Philogene on their list of forward targets? Having a good season! Appreciate he mostly plays LW but appears to be versatile.

I believe there was interest before he moved to Hull.

Much thanks.

Agree0 Disagree3

{Ed002's Note - Jaden Philogene (LW) Doing well enough to attract the interest of Crystal Palace and Spurs. Aston Villa have a buy-back option but I cannot see the player being interested.}

23 Mar 2024 07:19:57
Wouldn’t it make sense using TAA in DM?
Endo, Baj and TAA surely offers enough in that position,
TAA can also play other positions obviously but I think buying in that position is a waste of money.
Of course a new manager might play a different style or system like Alonso does.
But as things stand I’d prefer we focus on a left footed CB and replace any stars that may leave.

Agree0 Disagree3

{Ed002's Note - Alexander Arnold is not a DM player.}

23 Mar 2024 09:38:34
From what I see a need for in our squad going forward, is genuine left footed players.
I could probably count on one hand, and still have fingers left, of our lack of our left footed out field players.

Agree1 Disagree0

23 Mar 2024 10:23:42
Diomande at Sporting ed? Looks a great long term Virgil replacement.

Agree0 Disagree7

{Ed001's Note - how can you tell? He plays in a back 3 and plays in Portugal where I could manage to look decent. Hell Sebastian Coates is one of the stars centre-backs there.}

23 Mar 2024 11:01:23
The squad is good, but it’s not good enough for Prem and Champions League next season
To plod along in yes, but assuming we want to win them both? Need more top players.

Agree4 Disagree3

{Ed077's Note - In what positions? As starters or rotation options?

23 Mar 2024 11:04:25
What about Lenny Yoro Ed1? Seems like a lot of top clubs is looking to add him into their squad. Must be highly rated to be look at by many high end clubs.

Agree1 Disagree3

{Ed001's Note - not seen him play yet sorry.}

23 Mar 2024 12:09:49
Yoro, Kerkez and Bakayoko would be good targets for me. We dropped the ball on Moscardo imo.

I’m sure Chelsea, PSG and Real will get them all though.

Agree7 Disagree0

23 Mar 2024 16:49:16
We don't need any midfielders. We already have loads, literally more than we will realistically be able to keep happy with game time to cover all positions. The only position we are weak is RW with no backup or continuity for Salah, that's literally it. We have at least two excellent options for every other position. Klopp is leaving an exceptionally strong squad behind for his successor.

Agree4 Disagree0

23 Mar 2024 21:53:07
ed002 are we interested in Ezequiel Fernandez still and florentino luis?

Agree0 Disagree3

{Ed002's Note - Ezequiel Fernandez (DM) After losing out on Boca youngster Alan Varela, Benfica have turned to another Boca youngster, Ezequiel Fernandez, as a potential Florentino replacement - Fernandez is also interesting Milan, Arsenal and Liverpool who had him scouted by an ex-PL player who is now a very high-end scout. Unlikely to be available until next January unless paying well over the odds.

FL can be forgotten.}

For naysayers, let's stick to facts, not emotions or whatever "burns"

i ask only 1 question, did Nunez play well in ManU game? Yes or No.

In the biggest derby that determine quruple, he failed to turn up. I rest my case your honour.

Agree0 Disagree35

{Ed025's Note - as a Liverpool supporter you have no "Honour"lee, and as for Ron im very surprised mate, yes he never played well but has been one of your most effective players this season and scored a lot of goals, i get the disappointment with the loss to Utd but this is knee jerk and i have to say i expected better from such a seasoned poster like yourself..

20 Mar 2024 16:20:16
He assisted mac he had a shot saved which led to the second goal, and u say he never turned up, nunez is pure quality and will get at least to 22 goals or even 25 which is up there with sadio n Bobby numbers, I like most here was upset about losing on Sunday esp as we should have wrapped in up in second half but you cannot win them all, we have a brilliant team and will only get better as we move forward and was you saying the same when Nunuez scored the winner against forest?

Did any of them play well against Utd? They were all off the pace, but they are bound to have a bad day at the office once in a while, just a pity it was against Utd. They have played 7 games in 21 days maybe that has something to do with it.

Marty McFly 11, 2shoes, Klopp4pm, Dracred, Salah, Something Red,

I’ll just collect these receipts for when the new manager comes in.

I don’t rate him, we all see football differently.
If you can’t handle that, it’s your problem not mine.

If we put Nunez on the transfer list, I think we’d struggle to recoup 40 million. If some team offered 40 million I’d take it.

Agree2 Disagree0

21 Mar 2024 01:55:21
If you are proven right and Nunez is deemed to be a lemon, I would willingly come on here to say you were right and I was wrong. I just don't see that happening though as I think there has been more things good about his game than there has been bad.

Conversely, I would hope that you would do the same too when Nunez shines and performs under the new manager ;)

Agree9 Disagree0

21 Mar 2024 13:04:33
Nunez is improving constantly. If you can't see it, then like Klopp often says, I can't help you. He is well on his way to becoming elite. Still has a few steps to make but he is making them all the time.

He also played a big part in both goals against United so he was far from bad. Really good first half but tired.

He is well on his way. I had a bit of concern a year ago if he could make the necessary steps but his improvement this year has allayed any of those fears. I have no fear now he will become a top class player.

Nunez is more a 'battering ram' type of striker. His strength and ability to hold off other defenders whilst bringing in other players on i. e. Salah, Jota, Diaz. He mixes it with the defenders so that they draw onto him and allows others to score.

His scoring record recently has been fantastic. He is a real team player. He is unselfish.

He will get better and he is only 24.

What's not to like?

Ron, if you want to 'save receipts' go right ahead. I should warn you though that I'm waiting to see will a certain poster who claimed an ex-LFC player working in punditry told him we're only signing free transfers and one other cheap player and will sell Gomez and Kelleher to balance the books last summer will crop up on here again.

So when it comes to being a total Sad Ken who remembers everything, you'd do well to get the better of me. I still remember bs people came out with when Rafa Benitez was the manager.

Now to be fair I am a big fan of Nunez. However if his recent injuries continue I think we have seen the best of him.
Obviously I hope he's never injured but these type of injuries can really affect his play. He's not an out and out goal scorer.
So if he's not scoring goals and loses his pace and that bit of strength he won't bring enough to the pitch.

Ron and Leek I couldn’t have a more opposite opinion to you pair regarding Nunez but keep your opinions coming.

Hi Ed,

I see rumours about a player called Sudakov this morning, do you know of any interest from liverpool?

Cheers.

Agree0 Disagree5

{Ed002's Note - Heorhiy/Georgiy Sudakov (AM) Brighton and Barcelona interest has gone with the outrageous financial demands. Arsenal have been regularly scouting the player but it has gone no further. Seen by Chelsea as an option to Arsen Zakharyan who they were repeatedly blocked from signing and eventually moved to Real Sociedad - but they will not pay the asking price. Manchester United have sent scouts but it is hard to see their need for an AM player. Manchester City, Liverpool, Napoli and Bayern Munich have also sent scouts but none have declared an interest. Juventus see him as a relaible replacement for Mohamed Ihattaren as they search for an AM player but again the finances are a significant issue but they may well win out.}

Eds, what do you think of Summerville at Leeds? Is he capable of taking the step up to a team like Liverpool?

Agree0 Disagree7

{Ed002's Note - Crysencio Summerville (RW/LW) Leeds have no interest in selling but his agent is looking for a step up and speaking with clubs about him - he has certainly approached Chelsea and Spurs and I suspect others. Agent is close to Aston Villa and the City Football Group. Any move will likely depend on promotion being gained or not. Leeds will look for a new contract. I am not aware of Liverpool showing any interest.}

Don’t think it would work out for him. He’s a Smalltown Boy and Leeds have asked him not to Leave them this way. 😬.

{Ed025's Note - love it mate..

Hi Eds, do you know if we are scouting Rodrigo Muniz of Fulham? He is playing well.

Agree0 Disagree7

{Ed002's Note - No, Liverpool are not scouting him.}
