Hello ed2. Do you know if liverpool have any geniune interest in Darwin nunez? I tried searching but couldn't find anything.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of any approach by Liverpool.}

10 May 2022 07:38:08
Thanks. On the 2 games we played them he was real handful, if any of bobby, salah, mane where to leave this summer I'd like him to replace them albeit I've only seen him play twice. Having the 5 top forwards is great especially next season when there will be 5 subs allowed in premiership.

I think we get son if spuds don’t get top four.

Agree0 Disagree0

10 May 2022 20:10:03
To replace who though?

Agree0 Disagree0

11 May 2022 04:19:08
Probably Mo.

Agree1 Disagree0

11 May 2022 09:27:04
I think Son would be the perfect Bobby replacement but honestly I think we’ve got more chance of finding intelligent cheese on the moon.

Agree1 Disagree0

11 May 2022 10:22:04
Isn’t Son 29/ 30?

Agree1 Disagree0

11 May 2022 12:33:54
More chance of Nunez than Son.

Liverpool linked with a kid from Aberdeen and refusing to comment on Mane, no wonder Mo is stalling on signing a new contract! 🙄.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

09 May 2022 21:26:45
Mane is a great player, but for some weird reason I was never really convinced that he is that great. He slows the attack at times, many times trying to make some magic, some Hollywood pass, quick flip or back heels and almost never works. I was watching him really closely and more times than not he is choosing the wrong options. don't get me wrong im happy that we have him and I really appreciate all what he did for our team but if he would decides that he leaves and Darwin Nunez comes in, i would say that we did really good. Again no disrespect for Mane but some of his decisions just make me want to roll my eyes. And then of course there are his moments of magic, when he creates something crazy good moments out of nothing.

09 May 2022 21:33:12
Are you saying Mo doesn’t like people from Aberdeen?

Agree5 Disagree0

09 May 2022 23:26:38
I would sell mane and go all out for nkunku of leipzig.

Agree3 Disagree0

09 May 2022 23:51:41
Is aberdonians are to nice to dislike…. Mo we love you please stay!

Agree0 Disagree0

10 May 2022 06:25:45
Ramsey looks a good cheap addition to our squad, we are not going to pay 40m on a backup like City.
With regards to Mane I think I would have been more open to him moving a few months ago as I thought his standard had dropped considerably but since AFCON and playing central he has upped his game.
As I said earlier with Ramsey though, we don’t seem to have the funds some clubs have and selling Mane might be a pathway to freshen up the front line again, maybe get £50-70m for him and look to sign another forward who is closer to 20 than 30.

Agree0 Disagree0

10 May 2022 08:22:17
We won’t be getting £50-70m for Mane from Bayern. They will feel they can get deal as this summer is last year of contract or will wait until free.

The they is Mo. If he makes it clear he won’t sigh new deal but wants to stay one more year until contract ends then Klopp won’t want to lose both at same time so either Mane or Mo signs this summer or one will likely to be sold.

Whether we can afford to replace this summer is up for debate but maybe that’s why Diaz was bought as was meant to be this summer.

Personally I hope we keep as is with a new midfielder and back up right back for next season.

Agree0 Disagree0

10 May 2022 10:18:50
We definitely won’t be getting £50-70m for Mane. £40m most.

Agree0 Disagree0

10 May 2022 11:39:06
Mane doesn't drink alcohol and keeps himself in incredible shape. His age isn't as hard of a 30 as others out there. I figure he has at least 3 more very high performing years still. The cost of his pay raise will be far less than the cost to replace his contributions. If everyone in the attack is happy with their roles and minutes, and the requested wage increase isn't unreasonable, then I think it's a pretty easy decision to extend him.

Agree5 Disagree0

10 May 2022 12:01:56
If Mane leaves, and it's a big if, we will receive a fee based on what the selling club value him at and what the buying club think is good value, so let's not pretend any of us know who will pay what. It wasn't that long ago a 33 year old Ronaldo moved for over €100m.

Agree1 Disagree0

10 May 2022 16:05:24
6 months ago Mane was finished according to some on here.

Agree2 Disagree0

10 May 2022 18:29:17
Mane has upped his game recently. being played through middle seems to be helping. can't say he's not been average when played out on the left though. He looks rejuvenated now though. That's what salah needs but we have no1 to play on right instead of him. Tried Diaz over there and that didn't work well. Jota has had a dip in form centrally too so mane has claimed that spot, especially with bobby out for time being. Thank god we got Diaz in in January I say. Or could it be Diaz has upset the rhythm who knows? . But klopp knows best. YNWA.

Agree0 Disagree0

10 May 2022 21:17:41
OMM, he had long C.V., apparently, but his performance definitely dipped whatever the case. He's come back pretty good. Thankfully.

Looks like Bayern want Mane.

09 May 2022 18:20:15
Just been reading this! I think he might leave new challenge for him your a old man at 30 these days in the EPL according to a few! I’d hate to loose him he’s been amazing a great signing but I’d not begrudge him a move!

Agree7 Disagree0

09 May 2022 18:24:39
It would seem so. I wouldn’t be comfortable losing mane whilst city add Haaland.
We’d have to replace him if he wanted to leave. Lewa?

Agree1 Disagree0

09 May 2022 18:47:30
Lewa is at the wrong end of his career, I’d rather we went for Darwin Nunez. They’d cost about the same and Nunez has more miles in the tank.

Agree1 Disagree0

09 May 2022 19:06:54
Could be

Mane out Dembele in.

Not saying it is but Klopp is a huge fan and he can sign a pre contract now.

Agree1 Disagree0

09 May 2022 19:24:10
What Bayern want and what Bayern get will probably be 2 different things.

Agree4 Disagree0

09 May 2022 19:41:31
Well we have to be honest here lads mane won't be first choice on the left next season, if he wants a new contract he will want to match what salah gets (if he signs) I think now wouldn't be a bad time to let him move on and maybe freshen things up.

Im not really worried about haaland to city right now something screams out that haaland will be demonised with injuries and will he get much space to run in behind like he does at dortmund? I'm not sure but never be worried about who our rivals sign I'm sure interest in mane to leave isn't a shock.

Maybe gnabry in return?

We have to remember our club will have to be creative in how we replace our ageing players and trust that klopp has the right ideas in mind as always.

Agree4 Disagree0

09 May 2022 19:45:24
Everything coming from the same source.

Apparently Mane and Gnabry share an agent too, reports about both players wanting new contracts recently and now a convenient rumour about a swap deal.

Maybe I'm wrong, but wouldn't be surprised if this is just the agent drumming up some rumours to help with contract negotiations for his respective clients.

Agree2 Disagree0

09 May 2022 20:12:18
If Sadio left then we'd 100% be signing Darwin Núñez as a direct replacement.

Agree1 Disagree0

09 May 2022 20:36:13
Jones, Mane out and Dembele in would possibly be the worst transaction since we sold Suarez and got Balotelli as a replacement. He’s an injury prone waster.

Agree2 Disagree0

09 May 2022 21:07:08
Probably unlikely to happen die to the fee involved but Nkunku would be my choice as a Mane replacement, has the versatility to play across the front 3 and with him and Diaz we'd have 2 young players yo replace a front 3 that looked irreplaceable 2-3 years ago.

Agree2 Disagree0

09 May 2022 21:23:36
Personally I don’t want to face the idea of selling Mane or Salah. But, realistically if it happened I think we should then go for Nunez and Bowen. Bowen is proven premier league quality, he’s quick, a good finisher, hard working, skilful with a great final ball, his decision making is good too. He’s got something like 10 goals and 10 assists this year and has improved year on year. Textbook signing for us.

Nunez looks the real deal to me, quick, skilful, physically imposing and scores goals. With Carvalho coming in too, we’d have decent options out wide with Diaz, Jota, Bowen and Carvalho, with Nunez and Firmino as central options.

Dembele is off to PSG with those other French wasters Pogba and Ntiti.

Agree2 Disagree0

10 May 2022 04:45:41
Mane gets no respect on here. I'd sooner keep him than Mo.

Agree6 Disagree0

10 May 2022 06:27:35
Isn’t the reason Gnabry is potentially leaving because of astronomical wage demands?

Agree1 Disagree0

10 May 2022 07:57:04
Christian Falk just dismissed the Mane to Bayern discussion as not true. Rumour came from a bottom-feeder journo.

However, if Mane is going to want parity with Salah, he needs to be careful because the value of Salah is diminishing weekly at the moment.

I think Haaland is going to take time to settle and adapt to the Man City way of playing.

Agree1 Disagree0

10 May 2022 09:39:54
Out of interest @StEt, how far has Salah’s value dropped and what was the starting value?

Agree0 Disagree0

10 May 2022 09:40:02
Totally agree with Faithinworks…… I’d much rather Mane stay than Mo .
He deserves a lot more respect than he’s given sometimes .

Agree1 Disagree0

10 May 2022 15:29:25
I have no idea what the starting value for Salah was because I am referring to his wage demands. This is the only topic we know there are definitely discussions over, so not a baseless rumour.

We also know that his salary demands are in excess of £300k per week.

If recent past performance is being used as a barometer for future performance, like it was being used by his toxic agent to push wage demands up towards £500k per week, then surely it should follow that poor performance results in a comparative decline in wage expectations, should it not?

I would say that post-AFCON his goals per game has dropped by almost 50%. Not so confident on his assist rate. Against Spurs his passing was far from creative and, dare I say, worse than Jota’s.

So I would like to see us counter Salah’s wage demands by £50k per week drop from his negotiation level.

But no. This is football. And Mo is untouchable. So we will have to pay the higher salary or he goes on a free at the end of next season.

I doubt very much Salah or his agent will concede to leave this summer for a fee when he can leave at the end of next season on a ridiculous salary and signing on fee. We cannot force him to transfer, the bargaining power is with the player, not the club, post-Bosman.

Agree0 Disagree0

10 May 2022 19:11:09
Obviously I am a huge fan of both Salah and Mane, but Diaz coming in I think he shown us how those two used to be. Yes they are still very good but they are nowhere near as dynamic or direct as they used to be. Sad but true. That they both seemingly are entertaining the idea of leaving is all I need to be content with them being replaced. Personally I would like to see Raphina and either Bowen or Watkins come in. I just always prefer a player proven in this league to one from elsewhere.

Agree0 Disagree0

10 May 2022 22:02:51
Mane as no9 has been revitalised.
I’d definitely keep him.
Rarely injured
Consistently scores.

Agree0 Disagree0

12 May 2022 13:51:10
Must try to keep Mane, if we can. He has been great in the middle. Diaz on the left. Worked perfectly at Villa.

Salah we should sell ASAP. He is shaping to leave on a free in 12 months -probably already has something lined up. Not to mention he has turned into Balotelli. Five months of pure mediocrity.

Should be able to get 50 million for him. That should easily pay for Bowen, without the stupid wages on top.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 May 2022 12:16:12
Hi Ed002, please can I bother you for a minute? I'm just wondering if Liverpool are still interested in Bowen. I know you've written about him in the past but given his current form, I was wondering if there's anything new as far as Klopp's interest in the player. Also, do you think West Ham will do business if the player was interested in the move? Any info will be appreciated. I just think given stronger players and coaching, that guy can score 20 goals a season.
Thanks, 002.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Jarrod Bowen (RW/LW) I am still not aware of any formal approach to West Ham by Liverpool, but Bowen is a player who would be an ideal replacement for the now departed Shaqiri and perhaps to depart Oxlade-Chamberlain or Minamino - and he is HG. Liverpool have a good relationship with his agent and have apparently spoken with him. I don't know if West Ham would be open to selling. Their focus is on other positions. So it makes some sense if West Ham are open to a sale and if the player accepts a bit-part role. Previously Leicester had an approach turned down by West Ham. Spurs want to add competition to Moura but I think Bowen would want to be a starter so any club signing him would need to convince him of their project. I would not totally rule it out.}

09 May 2022 16:35:55
I don’t see it unless one of Firmino, Diaz, Salah, Mane or Jota leave. I think we could convince him to come in and be a part of a ‘front 5’ but doubt he would (or should) accept an Origi style role.

Agree1 Disagree0

09 May 2022 18:01:01
Unless we see him playing behind Salah on the right side of the midfield, which is a total change in position for him, then I'm unsure how it could fit unless someone significant moves on.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 May 2022 17:27:49
Thank you for your reply, Ed002! Hopefully Salah is sorted out sooner than later. I don't mind Bowen at all. Who's is agent, if I may? I don't have any football contacts or anything, but just watching him, Bowen strikes me like a hardworker, and I've just become sick of Salah's singing to the media rather than focusing on his football! Everything you said makes sense in terms of his homegrown status and potential space (s) in the team. Not sure he'll command a huge salary at first either, so what's not to like? Salah wasn't the Egyptian King until he came to Liverpool; who says we couldn't find the next one?

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - He shares an agent with Roberton and Alexander Arnold.}

10 May 2022 10:23:06
10 goals and 10 assists strikes me as a player on the up. Maybe the answer is to sell both Mane and Salah then bring in Bowen and Nunez.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 May 2022 05:44:41
Ed's, do you see FSG bringing in another forward, in anticipation of one or more of Salah, Mane and Bobby not renewing? Any new player may need a year to bed in, and it seems likely that we will loose at least one of them . On top of that Div and taki look set to leave, and FSG's succession model would suggest we need to plan for this eventuality.
Mo looks like he could do with some real competition also.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool also have Jota and Diaz as very capable forwards. The club should also look to utilise youngsters as well. If one of the three is sold that certainly changes things.}

09 May 2022 19:46:07
Do you think Mane will leave?

I know Ed mentioned we could be interested in Gnabry.

I spent a convivial evening in Aberdeen when I was younger.

Man Utd came to play in Pittodrie for a friendly marking the Tall Ships Race which started there that day.

Schmeichel made his debut for them that day- his kicks were hitting us in the opposite stand.

I couldn’t understand any of the Aberdonians next to me nor Fergie when I spoke to him earlier.

And I’m Scottish!
