Whoever gets Declan Rice is a proper invesment in the center midfeild for the next 10 years. One of the very good players in the league.
Any remote chance Ed02, Liverpool to do some black magic, raise a few quid and make an offer?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool have shown no interest in him.}

He’s never going to play for us. Just like Bellingham, Haaland, Mbappe, Chiesa, and previously, Sancho, Havertz, Werner et al.

I know it's terrible but whenever I see Declan Rice, I just see Cameron Diaz's brother from There's Something About Mary.

A "diving fouling scumbag" who people are asking for, and someone will probably pay, 100 Million for. It's football. Anything is possible (they paid almost 90 Million for Pogba, 5 years ago) .

He’ll leave 100mil when he does go and there’s only 3 teams I can see who’ll be capable of paying that and, unfortunately, we’re not one of them.

Keita’s shinpad, I’m not wrong though am I? We’re not in contention for those players and you’ll never see any of them play a competitive game in a Liverpool shirt.

We can’t afford to replace Wijnaldum, so how on earth people think we can remotely afford to replace Salah when he eventually goes, or even afford to bring in effective cover for the AFCON is beyond me (and the key word is EFFECTIVE) . Boxing Day until the 7th February is not looking a good period for us. We have five league games, Leicester (A), Chelsea (A), Brentford (H), Palace (A), Leicester (H), there’s possibly a couple of cup games, which I imagine we’re going to have to bin off. It is hard to think they logically we’re going to come out of that with many points, which would all but kill off our title hopes, as we struggled to break down Chelsea at Anfield, Brentford have got the measure of us, and neither of Leicester or Palace are what you’d call straightforward matches.

As has been explained countless times VVVV, our finances are in bits because of the ‘hand to mouth’ structure of them that was put under unbelievable pressure by the C.V.. Now that C.V. football is over, in time, i imagine the situation will return to a normal healthy level. It isn’t a conspiracy on the part of the owners to see Liverpool never invest in the squad again from now until the end of time. We still have a big squad and some players that could move on to create space. I wouldn’t be getting your knickers in a twist to this extent.

We sort out our defending, we'll be fine. We're getting done the same way ie the right side or sloppy set piece defending as last season.

Tactical adjustments (gini leaving plus the need to evolve) mean that we are scoring and conceding more.
West Ham's tactics are going to be repeated on Ali and i wonder if its time to get Konate in the team, although this would mean that we miss Joel's attacking qualities.

Let’s buy 2 expensive, effective forwards to cover 5 or 6 games…Glad your not my accountant vvvv

As for Gini, two decent seasons and that’s tops! What did he do last season when we needed him most? Nothing - The midfield was re shuffled to deploy Hendo and Fabhino at CB, Gini went missing in so many games just as in previous seasons.

anyone else bored of hearing Gini's name on here . . . for an enigmatic player, for some posters it seems like he has turned into Steven Gerrard. and I loved Gini, defended him on here for years. But this love-in with Gini and loathing that we didn't bring in a 9th midfielder into the club is just snoooooooooozzzzeeeee.

Faith - every time a Gini story is told, he gets better and better. It's like an old fishermans story!

Pity for prospective suitors that Rice declared for England, he'd be worth at least £30m less if he was playing for Ireland.

Drogie, where did I say we needed to buy two world class forwards? I pointed out that we were going to be without two world class forwards for at least 5 league games, maybe 6 games. Which if we draw blanks in those, effectively kills off our league title chances (not that they’re great anyway, given that we have dropped 7 points in games that our rivals would win), we rarely score or create from midfield and the remaining forwards are nowhere near as prolific, as we are very short of quality in depth beyond Jota.

As for Gini, the things he was good at was being a “water carrier”, he wasn’t special or a game changing player, but he was effective, reliable, consistent and injury free, he certainly gave us better call retention and pressing than any of the current incumbents.

As for last season, if you recall, Fabinho and Henderson (when they weren’t injured) were both playing centre back for significant periods and Gini was being asked to play as midfield anchor for a number of games, which frankly speaking, he doesn’t have the skills for. That isn’t his fault.

We may have loads of apparent “options”, but they’ve been shown to be unreliable, inconsistent, injury prone and not quite good enough.

As for the finances, by the time we’ve got our sh*t together, Newcastle will have got themselves organised and you can bet they will be competing for the same signings that we would be, and will simply blow us out the water as they’ll just pay up front. For example Watford are now apparently asking £100m for Sarr (a player we have looked at), now out of us and Newcastle, who is likely to pay that kind of money?

But back to my initial point, which is irrefutable, we simply cannot compete for top players, so there’s really no point discussing the likes of Rice/ Bellingham/ Haaland or whoever as we’re never going to be in that conversation to buy them.

I only hope that we reach an agreement with Salah or the summer transfer window is going to be horrific.

VVVV - we cannot compete for the top players. you mean like the world record GK and CB we purchased.? I get your point, but come one, it's a bit drastic. LFC will always be able to compete for top players.
