Hi Ed. Just curious has any clubs shown an interest in Sturridge recently. His performances the last 18 months have been world class. Top top player!

Thank you!

{Ed002's Note - Not that I am aware.}

Hi eds do Liverpool hold an interest in Javi Martinez and do you see him leaving Munich in the summer?

Believable5 Unbelievable12

{Ed002's Note - No. Bayern Munich are clear that they do not wish to sell the Martinez, although he is wanting to move on. Arsenal will test the waters with a bid if they can be assured that their first choice, Lars Bender, is not available. There may well be interest from Spain if he becomes available.}

Ed02, not Liverpool related, but who, if anyone, is interested in Varane? Seems like a good player to me. Cheers.

Believable1 Unbelievable6

{Ed002's Note - Chelsea has a sustained interest in Varane but Real Madrid do not want to sell, particularly given that their proposed replacement, Mangala, will almost certainly not be available to them. They could turn to Martinez if he were to leave.}

Hi there. Ed2 could you tell us who holds an interest in Inigo Martinez? Cheers.

Believable2 Unbelievable8

{Ed002's Note - If Real Sociedad decide to sell Martinez he will be expensive. Last year Roma, Zenit, Arsenal, Barcelona, Chelsea and Real Madrid showed some level of interest or other in him. Barcelona maintain an interest but any thought of Athletic Bilbao being interested seem wide of the mark. Real Madrid will look to Mangala or Inago Martinez if they lose Varane.}

Ed, is there any interest in either Gaitan I Rodrigo of Benfica? Obviously had good seasons respectively and either would fill our need for a winger.

Believable1 Unbelievable3

{Ed002's Note - My understanding is that Manchester United and PSG did speak with Benfica about Gaitan in January 2013 but no bid was made as the asking price was seen to be far too high. Interest from Bayer Leverkusen, Spurs and Arsenal will have waned in the summer. I understand that Benfica also had an approach from Anzhi for Gaitan but the player made it clear he has not any interest in talking to them. Else, I understand that the interest still remains from Manchester United and PSG, but not at the price being asked. He would have been allowed to move last summer but Benfica did not drop their price, so nothing happened. He will sign a new contract at Benfica. I am not aware of any confirmed interest from Liverpool but as an option to other wide players being considered he might be a viable consideration.

Valencia, Atletico Madrid and Zenit have shown an interest in Rodrigo who is owned by a third party rather than Benfica - if Liverpool are looking to him he would be as a replacement for someone else.}

Ah sorry. You meant he might be considered by LFC, but not that he is an option or that Benfica will have dropped their price.

My mistake. Apologies.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - He would be a viable option if Liverpool are interested and if they make an offer.}

But if Benfica have not dropped the price, how come he is a viable option for LFC Ed02?

If PSG and Manchester United cannot afford him, can LFC do?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - They will accept a lower price.}
