Are we really in for Saul? We are not heavily link with him compared to the others that had been brought up like Bissouma, Neuhaus and Renato.

Even though I really doubt that could happen due to his high wages. But of course would be really happy if he is the one that going to replace Gini.

I was thinking the same - the rumours tend to be sporadic rather than consistent as they are with other players.

It could either be that we are NOT in for him, or a bit more like the Fab transfer when it was kept under wraps.

Let's wait and see, but I would also be very happy with him.

We are not in for him and can’t afford his wages as Ed002 has explained.

Not happening mate, but I agree that’s the calibre of player we should be trying to get. I want Barella to replace Gini but that isn’t happening either.
It really is a window for the likes of PSG City and United, capitalising on the rest of us being skint. Luckily our first 11 is very strong even though our squad is weak. Make do and try again next summer to freshen the ageing squad.

I don’t think ed002 said we were not it for him. Ed did say we might be able to bid for Sancho, if that was the case for the right player money could be found. £200k a week is doable.

I think you need to wait and see, I'm pretty sure Michael Edwards is not going to tell anyone on here what he is up to, even though some think they know.

He’s on €300k after tax, let’s just stop saying we will sign him as he’s on way more than we’d ever offer.

He might not be a greedy fit. He might actually want to come and win major trophies.

Ed002 if you are about mate can we put these Saul rumours to bed please. Out of reach financially right, and no interest?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Saul Niguez (CM) Nobody will pay his release clause but Atletico could look to a very high fee for a player who has a contract that runs for years in order to get his €300k weekly wage off the books. Bayern Munich's first choice to add for midfield and his agent has spoken with several sides as Atletico want to make very significant savings on salaries and could be forced in to a corner by the player and his agent. But Bayern see his cash price at €60M (or €75M on terms) and wages of €300k as too high and will want to negotiate - they will almost certainly turn elsewhere. He is being offered to the usual suspects who have money - Manchester United (who would need to offload Pogba), Juventus, Manchester City, PSG, Chelsea as a Kovacic replacement - many of which are looking to add a player in his position but his wages are a major issue for most. Atletico have signed his replacement. I am not aware of any approach from Liverpool at this time but he would be an excellent choice but a lot more expensive than other options.}

There we go people. Out of reach for us and no interest. Sanchez is the one it seems.

ed2 said he is not aware of interest and would be more expensive. He didn't say we are not interested and can't afford him.

Exactly faith. If we bought Saul and the window closed with no other signings it would still have been a very good window.

How can anyone compare the transfer of Fabinho with anyone we’re linked with in the press? Unless my memory has evaporated, but was Fab just signed and announced from nowhere? I don’t recall a two/ three paper chase beforehand?

Agree1 Disagree0

09 Jul 2021 14:03:21
Fabinho was not signed out of nowhere. People just remember the things that made a lot of noise. He was signed the summer of 2018. Ed02 had included him in "players of interest" in the previous summer of 2017 (I remember this vaguely), and then the club got him the next summer. There were very few mentions of the interest here or in the media beforehand, but it's still not "out of nowhere".

Hi Eds, I read that we were mentioned going in for Saka last year. Any truth or complete tripe?

He is some player and one I imagine Klopp would love to work with.

{Ed002's Note - No.}

Cheers Ed2, that was about as quick as he is.

Saka is considered untouchable by the Arsenal hierarchy - they would not entertain any offer for him unless it was ridiculously high. Xhaka has almost finished finalising his move to Italy and Bellerin is likely to follow to either Spain or Italy. Arsenal is unlikely to need the money but they are looking to move on Aubemayang as well.

I would imagine that Saka to Arsenal is a bit like TAA to us?

Agree5 Disagree0

08 Jul 2021 14:57:39
lol, I didn't say Saka TO Arsenal. Fabrizio said in his program that the Arsenal hierarchy would not entertain any offers for him. He's generally very well informed.

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Jul 2021 15:38:10
That's what I meant, Reynard.

That Saka means as much to Arsenal (being a young and exciting prospect) as Trent means to us. Therefore its going to be extremely difficult, nigh on impossible, for any team to prize him away.

Ergo, Saka is to Arsenal what Trent is to us - untouchable.

Definitely a quality talent. Think he would only move if we met Arsenal’s demands (unlikely) and whether he would get the same - if not more - game time (again I think this is unlikely unless we shift one of the wide players on) .

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Jul 2021 00:41:36
We should all know by now that if a player wants to move there's not a lot a club can do to stop it. Delay it maybe but players will get their move if they really want it.

I am not really sold yet on Saka. Everything I have watched him play, I have not really seen what's so special about him. If I am to take someone from the Arsenal team, then Smith Rowe would be the one. This lad is special and I see him doing very well in our team.

Ed002, any updates on players leaving?

Just scrolled through and the latest I can find is;

Shaq - Lazio are keen?
Nat Phillips - Burnley are keen? I'll be sad to see him leave, but right thing for his career
Origi - Liv asking too much, may stay?
Keita - can't find anything . ?
Neco William - saw in press recently Southampton an option?
Karius - forgot he was still at Liv
Harry Wilson - linked to a number of clubs in the past but quiet at the moment?
Grujic - Porto?
Salah - his agent still flirting with other clubs?
Mane - is he happy at Liv?
Minamino - up for sale?

This is not a departure wishlist by the way, just enquiring if there's any movement from the players who have been linked with a move away. Plus we do need to get some money in!

I believe that players that are on the cusp - Shaq, Minamino, Origi etc - Klopp may wait to see how they do in pre-season training, which is starting this week IIRC? I think the end of this month will be busier in terms of outgoings.

BTW, Wilson has been linked with Leeds and Keita with Atelico Madrid (I think)

My mind is like a transfer info steel trap. Ed002 has said the following:

Shaqiri - Lazio interested at the right price
Phillips - Burnley interested. Klopp keen to sell
Origi - Cercle Brugge walked away from the asking price
Keita - no declared interest. Liverpool need to cut their losses
N. Williams - not seen anything recent
Karius - not seen anything recent
Wilson - Cardiff are interested at the right price
Grujic - Porto and Hertha Berlin interested, but not at the €20m asking price.
Mane - not seen anything recent
Minamino - Sevilla and Southampton both looking to do business at the right price.

The Echo 'reported' that Porto are at €10m and we're at €17m for Gruijic, but that a deal is looking likely around €13m.

A lot of folks getting confused. Looking for news of players that they either don't rate or like, forgetting that Klopp and his staff might see that player's position very differently. Keita being a prime example.
