Ian Ayre flew to Moscow today. I have no info on who he is meeting. Do the eds know of any interest in any Russian based players?

Believable15 Unbelievable17

Best case scenario Yann M'vila worst case Aiden McGeady.

Agree0 Disagree0

Could perhaps be Dzsudzsak, we're in the market for a wide forward allegedly. Just speculation of course. Unless there is some kind of reason why it wouldn't be him(new contract or just recently moved or permit issues).

Any of the Ed's know of any interest recently at all?

Agree1 Disagree0

Best case Yarmolenko.

Best would definately not be Mvila.
Best would be someone like Dzagoev, Witsel or Dzusdak (spelling)

Agree0 Disagree0

Perhaps he's gone to try to negotiate with Zenith so they withdraw their offer for Salah? Maybe he's offering to do the washing up for a month or he'll let them have a ride on his Harley.

Can't see us getting salah but I think yevhen konoplyanka looked very good against england for the Ukraine, better than andriy yarmolenko who been linked in the past and at a smaller club and only 24 hope BR reads this site lol

Believable8 Unbelievable12

{Ed002's Note - Konoplyanka was subject to two significant offers this past summer - from Galatasaray and Zenit - both of which were been turned down. I would not be surprised to see Benfica and Arsenal make a bid in January, and possibly Fiorentina, Spurs, Manchester United, Schalke and Dortmund to look to the player.}

Totally agree, better than yarlimenko and would b a great addition if we could pull it off, bags of skill hard worker and very creative little player!

Liverpool could be in the frame to make a shock move for Palermo striker Abel Hernandez.

According to the Mirror, Brendan Rodgers could be aiming to snatch Hernandez from under the noses of rival clubs, just like he did with Philippe Coutinho.

Uruguayan Hernandez is widely regarded as one of the best young strikers in Europe and he has netted 11 times in 17 Serie 'B'games this season.

If Rodgers were to sign Hernandez though, it would have to be for a substantial figure - eight figures at least.

Apparently an attempt for Hernandez's signature was made by Liverpool in the summer but neither club could agree on a figure.

The 23-year-old is know across Europe and South America for his pace and technical ability. He has also scored seven goals in 11 international appearances.

He has previously been linked with Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur and Fiorentina reportedly had an offer knocked back in the summer.

Believable14 Unbelievable34

If he was good enough he surely wouldn't be playing in the 2nd tier at the age of 23.

Just a thought.

Agree0 Disagree0

No wonder we couldn't reach an agreement when they want an 8 figure sum for a 'seria B' player

I heard today that Mitrogeu from olympiakos is in talks with us. We have had a bid of around 12 million accepted on Monday. Thanks

Arsenal and Liverpool are both in talks with Anderlecht over a deal to sign defender Cheikhou Kouyate, his agent has reported.

Believable5 Unbelievable20

{Ed002's Note - Arsenal and Southampton are interested but Lazio and Galatasaray may have now dropped there interest. The talks, I don't know about Liverpool, have only been with his agent according to Anderlecht.}

Cheers Ed002. The report I read never mentioned Southampton just Arsenal and Liverpool. His agent (and these were direct quotes from the guy) also said he expected Kouyate to be playing in the EPL before the end of January.

{Ed002's Note - A coup for Liverpool being the first club to have 10 centre backs on the books.}

LOL. That's what I was thinking. But as you know there is interest in some of our CB's. I think some will be shipped out this window if teams can be found to take them.

Heard a couple of people on different forums/sites saying that we are interested in Sevilla's LB Alberto Moreno, he's on the verge of the Spanish national team squad so maybe an outsider for the WC he's young strong and athletic and is a million miles better than Cissohko, so he's good and we may have an interest. happy days

Eds, is Michael Ngoo going out on loan to Swindon Town?

Believable22 Unbelievable9

{Ed001's Note - I don't know, we have been trying to sell him.}

Hi eds, there were rumours surfacing that Aspas may move to Real Betis on loan just before the window opened.

Do you believe that those chances are gone, now that they have made a move for Brian Ruiz?

Do you think with Borini returning in the summer and the potential signing of Salah, that he may still move on in the summer?

Many thanks.

Believable6 Unbelievable15

{Ed001's Note - Aspas was never going to Betis on loan in January. He might well end up moving on in the summer, but he is needed for cover until then. It is unclear what will happen in the summer with him yet.}

Hi Eds, been watching Guillem Balague on TV, he says that Xabi Alonso hasn't wanted to come back for a long time, OK fair enough, but he said he wants a huge signing on fee and as much money as he is currently being paid, with PSG and Man City likely to match that with City offering a 10 million signing on fee? How much does Balague know? I mean I would of though Alonso still recognised how much he is still loved at LFC and wouldn't go to another PL club. Also I never thought it was all about money for Alonso? What do you think? Cheers

Believable5 Unbelievable9

{Ed001's Note - Balague knows about some things, other things he knows nothing about. A lot depends on who has ghost written his latest blog, for instance, as to how accurate it is. Xabi loved his time at Liverpool, still comes back to watch us when he can, but he is not looking for a return. That is not about money, it is about winning things. He wants trophies.}

He could win something with us :-(we love you xabi came back

Hi Ed, looks like he's for it completely wrong as he said that there is no way Alonso would sign another deal, and Marca reporting a day later he will, just goes to show ehhh?

Hi Eds

Are Liverpool still looking to get a few younger players out on loan for experience? if so who is available for loan?

Thanks

Believable2 Unbelievable5

{Ed001's Note - the club always want to farm out a few players for experience, though it has to be the right club wanting to take them. I am not sure who is currently available, as injuries have clouded the issue. Smith was a prospective loanee, for instance, but right now he is not likely to be allowed to go out on loan.}

08 Jan 2014 15:19:31
Hi ed's, any news on Will Hughes? Is there any chance to bring him this January? Thanks :*

Believable12 Unbelievable3

{Ed001's Note - nothing new, unlikely anything will happen without a loan back for the rest of the season anyway.}

08 Jan 2014 14:53:14
Atletico Madrid and Borussia Dortmund now in for Salad, aswell as Zenit. Dragging our heels as usual. Oh well sure we can get a youngster in on loan to help the push for top 4. FSG penny pinching.

Believable34 Unbelievable12

Penny pinching? You don't get how business works do you? You don't pay 50% more than you think something is worth.

Agree2 Disagree2

That's not actually how business works at all. If it's true that three other parties are willing to pay more than you, then your valuation is no longer correct. Players, like houses, are only worth the max that buyers are willing to pay.

Agree2 Disagree0

We have not lost out on him yet, and if his fee gets stupid then we will move on to other targets.

I still think we will get him.

Agree3 Disagree0

Actually what others offer for one item isn't really relevant when there's a whole market of other options out there. Just because the rich guy comes in with more money doesn't mean you're willing to pay that much.

Agree0 Disagree0

That may be the case if one "rich" club outbids you, but not if THREE others are willing to outbid you. That clearly means the player is worth more and his club will know that. Of course, this is all assuming that the three other clubs are actually offering a lot more than us - no one really knows that for sure.

Agree1 Disagree0

A thing has more than one value doesn't it? It all depends on how much you want the thing. So, for instance, we may need a certain type of player - say, a right winger. Other clubs may be happy with the players that they have in that position and logically ya that would mean that we would value a good player in that position more than other clubs. So our valuation of the plater would be higher than that of other climbs.mthat aid there would come a point where the players worth would not match the amount of money being requested and this happens quite regularly when certain clubs decide they want to buy another object to adorn their reserves for a couple of years .

Will assaidi be sold in the summer window once he comes back or do you think rodgers will give him a shot in the first team?

Believable3 Unbelievable3

{Ed002's Note - The summer is too far off to say right now.}

08 Jan 2014 13:21:35
is it true that we are after abel hernandez? Is he any good?

Believable4 Unbelievable5

{Ed002's Note - Roma, Napoli, Arsenal and Dortmund have enquired about Abel Hernandez and been told he is not available - although this has not deterred Fiorentina to continue to push for talks.}

08 Jan 2014 11:50:47
Is the plan currently for borini to return to us in the summer

Believable11 Unbelievable5

{Ed002's Note - When his loan is up, yes.}

08 Jan 2014 11:02:16
Ed002 reports in Italy say that ac Milan are very close to signing Fernando reges. Is this true?

Believable12 Unbelievable6

{Ed002's Note - As I have explained a move to Italy remains the most likely option if he is not to agree a new deal with Porto. Although Everton have shown an interest he seems keen on Italy and may well be looking to sign a pre-contract for a summer move.}

Ed002 are Liverpool actually interested in a defensive midfielder like fernando?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool has not shown an interest in Fernando and the focus remains on a forward player (e.g. Salah) and a central midfield player with perhaps a player on a loan to buy deal.}

Ed002 apart from will hughes have we shown any interest in any other central midfield players?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - I think that Liverpool are looking very seriously to Hughes but will need to avoid any slip-ups in securing him for the summer - otherwise he will go elsewhere with interest growing from other EPL sides. I am not aware of any significant efforts to look elsewhere. This is one that can be nailed now for the summer - but I fear the reluctance to commit to an already growing fee could be the downfall.}

Ed002 so Liverpool are not looking for a midfielder to come into the first team now?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Why try and twist things?}

Ed002 even u have said that will hughes would not be ready to play for the first team now?

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - It would be a summer arrival - not now. But to secure him, the time to act is now or chance the bitter taste of disappointment.}

I do hope its just people jumping to conclusions about Chelsea not wanting to sell Bertrand because of the amount of game time Moses is getting. Its not like Moses is doing anything to warrant some game time, he has been handed a life line in terms of his career. Chelsea could have left him on the bench but instead they sent him out to get game time, its no ones fault but his own that he doesn't want to take it. I can't the two deals being related anyway, as much as i'm not a fan of Chelsea they never seem to stand in the way of players should they want to leave.

Believable7 Unbelievable2

{Ed002's Note - Right. Chelsea have already replaced Moses and Brendo wanted him on loan, which as you say, offered him a lifeline for his immediate career. In recent days an ex-Chelsea player who deals with the liaison aspects of some of the loan players expressed a concern about the amount of playing time he is getting. Obviously Chelsea would prefer he got more but are pragmatic enough to realise if he is struggling for form that is less likely to happen. It is entirely unrelated to an enquiry made about Bertrand a while back. The Bertrand situation is far from clear and whilst it is true that Liverpool and Everton both enquired about the player, as did Fulham more recently, Chelsea's preferred route would be to use him as part of a deal for another player - but I don't see that happening in January.}

So am I right in saying there keeping him for a player plus cash deal for luke shaw???

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed002's Note - Chelsea has already discussed that option with Southampton.}

Ed002 what was the outcome of this discussion please

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed002's Note - It is of no rlevance here.}

Thanks ed

Has Liverpool shown any interest in Fabio Coentrao? Would suit our style of play and is available.

Believable3 Unbelievable14

{Ed002's Note - None.}

08 Jan 2014 08:54:58
Hi eds any truth that we have made an offer for Morata from Real Madrid?

Believable3 Unbelievable19

{Ed002's Note - It sounds like recycled news from the summer but Real Madrid would, I understand, not be surprised if Liverpool would ask for Alvaro Morata as part of any transaction for Suarez next summer. Arsenal and CSKA are clubs who have said they would like to take him on loan - and perhaps a loan with an option to buy might be something Liverpool would look at.}

08 Jan 2014 07:59:49
Good morning Eds. How are you this morning sir?

Any interest in Caner Erkin, left back from Fenerbache?

Any updates on Rakitic please?

Have a great day.

Believable2 Unbelievable4

{Ed002's Note - Fenerbahce and Caner Erkin have scheduled some discussions over his contract which runs out in 2014. Fenerbahce have said there have been no offers - perhaps one for the summer.

There is nothing new with Rakitic that relates to Liverpool.}

08 Jan 2014 05:57:28
Hey Eds,
Was just wondering if we have looked at Kevin Volland and what other teams are interested in him?

Cheers

Believable4 Unbelievable5

{Ed002's Note - Clubs will all be aware how well Volland is doing and Hoffenheim will not want to sell mid-season. Dortmund want to take him in the summer.}

08 Jan 2014 02:59:42
how much is it true that Agger will leave for Napoli?
And is there any chance that Reina will be call back?
What about Borini future?

Believable3 Unbelievable28

A poster on here confidently stated that Napoli would bid for Agger within 72hours. That however was 5 days ago and as yet no bid. He then hedged his bets by saying no bid until the extent of Agger's injury was known. I'll predict no bid and anyway how could we release him? Our squad is thin and with Sakho unfit our centre backs are reduced to Agger, Skrtel, and Toure who is currently covering for Johnson. It would be pointless to sell Agger and then have to buy another CB to replace him. And anyway who is available cheaply and good enough?

Agree0 Disagree0

I am that said poster.
Hedged my bets? Would you seriously expect a club be it Napoli or any other to bid on a player that comes off the field injured?
Which happened within 48 hours of my post.
When the extent of the injury to Daniel is known, Then Napoli will be better placed to decide whether to pursue there interest in the player.
And at no time in the said post did I say the BR or LFC would accept the offer and sell said player.
You really need to read posts that are put up and stop trying to diss what is written because events take an unfortunate turn. I understand now why ED002 is more guarded with what they write on here now.

Agree0 Disagree1

Hmmmmm. if memory serves didn't we not only bid. but, actually cough up $35 million for an injured Andy Carroll??

No malice intended VR. just being a smartass and couldn't resist the door you left ajar.

Agree0 Disagree0

TBF Red-NOT BLUE-Lenses there is a bit of a difference.
We were towards the very end of the transfer window when we signed Carroll and knew the full extent of his injury when he was signed. Plus we were desperate and short of strikers at the time having sold Torres. Everyone knew it was a panic buy and a gamble at the time.
Napoli are not in anywhere near the same position.
Agger is still undergoing assessments and the extent of his injury is not known at this present time. Plus there is still 3 weeks of the window open which gives Napoli ample time to asses his injury and look for an alternative if that should be needed.
Had no injury taken place on Sunday I stand by my post they would have made a bid for the player.
