Comolli advised insua to turn down move to Roma a few weeks ago and has been offered a contract on more money. Can any eds comment on this

AC Milan have made no firm move for Alberto Aquilani, the Liverpool player's agent has stated on Monday.

I think this is good news for us aquiliani has the killer ball in him(but does lack the aggression and physical side to things) In my eyes raul is the weaker of the two players and we would get more money for him.

Any thoughts ed?

Enrique signing looking doubtful.
Wages and contract length a real problem.

---- Twitter talk ---- Reports suggest Udinese are keen to bolster their midfield after losing Gokhan Inler and have had a €12m bid for Raul Meireles rejected by Liverpool.

Anyone know if marcos bueno is at liverpool yet to start his trail??

08 Aug 2011 22:06:09
Eds what do yous expect to happen to poulsen he seems like he wants to stay?

D690 {Ed002's Note - It depends on whether or not KD has plans for him. If he does then I think he will stay else the club will need to negotiate an exit out of his contract and probably let him go on a free transfer. I imagine there are others in this category as well - El Zhar, Degen....}

Enrique is wanting to much wages and liverpool r not willing to pay that arsenal r going to sign him and we will sign gibbs instead

Liverpool have been looking at Vertongten as an extra option and a possible back up to Agger and Skertel.

08 Aug 2011 21:13:16
Hey Ed, would you say Tony Evans from 'the Times' is a credible enough source? He stated today he expects both aqua and meireiles to leave. Would this mean another cm being brought in maybe? Moussa Sissoko possibly?

Keep up the good work
Amz {Ed009's Note - Both players are certainly available to be bought for the right price. There is a reasonable chance that another centre midfielder would be sought as strong interest in Sissoko continued after the acquisition of Adam. Comolli is a very big fan.}

Hi eds,

With all this talk about Mertesacker, I'm wondering if any interest has been shown in him at all, or whether its just a story made up by bored journos. Has there been any interest shown by Liverpool at all?

I personally think he can do a more than decent job for us. His speed seems to be the only concern, but I'm sure it is something that can be worked on. What people also need to keep in mind is his remarkably clean game, which is effective nevertheless, and the added bonus of his headers while on the attack. Imagine having both Carroll and him to aim at in set pieces

Cheers
Ray {Ed002's Note - There has certainly been an enquiry.}

08 Aug 2011 19:46:19
hey ed how much did we get for jovanavic in the end {Ed002's Note - He went on a free transfer. So nothing. Obviously the club paid him off so I would guess something like -£1.5M.}

rumours from turkey is that Galatasaray have been in talks with arda turan about a contract extention which he as turned down. Insua is sat awaiting news about his future at the same time . rumours are there could be a money player swap deal on the cards . watch this space . insua going Milan Jovanovic gone . leaving 2 spaces to be fillled by Enrique and Turan

Hi Ed, I have recently come back to the city and heard a quite a few rumours that merieles was left out of valencia game as inter are closing in on a deal worth around 10.5 euros. If this is completed this week, preferably by thursday we will do a deal with bolton for Cahill, which includes £13 million cash plus David N'gog permanent and shelvy on loan as kenny has had enough of his attitude. you heard anything on the same lines? cheers Also another rumour way out of the water was Lahm coming in but with a huge transfer fee and wages .

08 Aug 2011 19:20:10
A work colleague of mine who is an mad West Brom fan, has told me he has heard that Liverpool have enquired about the availability of Peter Odemwingie.
No idea about the fee etc.
Personally, I do not think he is any better than N'Gog, so hope nothing comes from it

Ed002, i take it you edited my last post. Not complaining, you.ve made sound better then what i'd posted. Cracked me up that the difference in words fitting right in, but funny as. Jonson6 {Ed002's Note - You may have cut back on the swearing but there is a need to figure out some other problems you seemingly have as well. I gave you a nudge in the right direction.}

08 Aug 2011 18:53:39
Could you mark these players on chance of signing please ed? Thanks. Gary cahill, mertasacker, dann, enriquie, llorente and mata {Ed009's Note - The first four all have a good chance of joining, the latter two hardly any at all.}

08 Aug 2011 18:23:26
just wondering then what spanish clubs are interested in pacheco, has there been an official approach for him? realy hope he doesn't go- he deserves more chances {Ed009's Note - I believe Sociadad, Bilbao and Atletico all hold interest in the player. He will probably move, and I feel that it is in the best interest of both parties.}

08 Aug 2011 18:19:13
Hey eds, everybody knows we need a CB more than anything at the moment, I would love to see Cahill in a red shirt but in my opinion Mertesacker would be a far greater buy and I could see him becoming the next Sami Hyypia - he has all the attribute: height, strength, good attitude and is useful with his head in front of goal. What would you say the chances are?

Cheers, JP {Ed009's Note - I think there is certainly a chance. The club are looking at him as a cheaper alternative to Cahill, but the problem for me is his severe lack of pace. Whilst it could work out, like it did for Hyypia, he could easily be could out in the Premier League.}

Transfer Round Up

Alex Chamberlain has completed a £15m move to Arsenal. An intial £12m will go straight to Southampton with £3m add ons.

Jose Enrique talks with Liverpool will continue this week and were on hold over the weekend until after the Valencia game and a day off on Sunday for the players and staff. Talks will proceed this week and will look to be completed by at the latest the weekend and the opening game against Sunderland, although I don't think he will sign in time to be registered. Fee is £6.5m plus £2m add ons.

Enrique will be the final piece of the puzzle for Dalglish but there may be a push for a Centre Back or a Striker if the right deal comes along but there is nothing that interests us (Deal wise) that is considered "viable" by the transfer team.

Hi ed 009 any chance of elaborating on why Kenny was one of the reasons Robbie kean left. just read the post and have never head this news thanks even an (apparently) answer would be good enough for me thanks for your time Dave {Ed002's Note - I refer to earlier answers.}

Liverpool have renewed their interest in Birmingham central defender and Liverpool lad Scott Dann. {Ed002's Note - So you listen to his Tweets and ignore the Eds?}

08 Aug 2011 17:46:35
SSN says we have ended our interest in Jose Enrique EDS what is going on? {Ed002's Note - I think the fans became a little overwhelmed with the thoughts of a £5.5M deal being agreed. I have explained ad nauseum that no deal had been agreed but the fans are relentless once in a frenzy (the technical name for is is the "Coentrao Effect" where the truth is secondary to the hysteria). Whilst Sky are perhaps back tracking a little over what they have said, it does not mean that there will not be a bid should the club decide to try to buy a left back this summer. This week will probably see a flurry of activity with perhaps a few players leaving, and perhaps a bid or two being made.}

These Eden hazard rumours are picking up abit ed what are the chances ed? I reckon we have a really good chance

DOM LOVELOCK {Ed002's Note - 1/10. Nothing has changed. Hazard signed a new contract with Lille and if he cannot get a move that suits him (Barcelona and Real Madrid were his stated preference) then he could stay and play in the Champions League next year. Juventus are very keen but cannot offer football at the highest level right now. Bayern Munich, Arsenal, Liverpool, Chelsea, Real Madrid, Inter, Spurs and Barcelona have shown interest or admiration for the player. If he does move and I was pushed for an answer, I think he could end up in Italy, possibly at Inter.}

08 Aug 2011 17:09:31
The word over here in ireland is that Robbie Keane has been contacted by liverpool for a deal to happen this week, Robbie is Keen to come back (excuse the pun) he would be happy to work under Kenny and has a point to prove. I dont know how much the transfer is worth. Eds does this rumours have legs in england {Ed009's Note - There is absolutely no chance of the player returning - Kenny was one of the reasons he left us in the first place.}

08 Aug 2011 16:15:52
Ed jenchang (from sports illustrated) said that turan was offered to us and arsenal in the last few weeks and neither showed much interest. I wonder if we are looking to sell aquilani,meireles and cole first and then we may make a bid for turan or another attacking player. Just wondered what you thought ed? {Ed002's Note - Arda was offered to Juventus and Chelsea. I assume that this is his Twitter account you have been reading? He is likely passing on something on something he heard from a third party, but equally it is tough to see why Liverpool have so little interest in the player.}

08 Aug 2011 15:43:48
Hi ed,
Just wondering if you knew anything about the signing of enrique this deal seems to be dragging out longer than the tevez saga, can you shine any light on the matter? {Ed002's Note - Nope, sorry.}

It seems that Shane Long is going to WBA,so we can cross him off the list.

08 Aug 2011 14:27:07
hi ed, any chance of us offering n'gog and cash for cahill? {Ed002's Note - Perhaps but you need to read the earlier posts.}

08 Aug 2011 14:26:00
hi ed, what are the chances of us signing park chu young? would be a great signing, hes a bit like an asian suarez and surely 6 mill is a bargain we will probley get it back in shirt sales in asia. thanks {Ed002's Note - You need to read the earlier posts but there is a decent chance of him signing. However, the money from shirt sales does not go to the club.}

Hi Ed/s
A polite question re' our defensive issues.
I appreciate that you can't give any conclusive information , but in your opinion , what is the view on Dann over Cahill position in terms of ability and LFcs preferred choice.
If i were Dann , who was pretty keen to join LFC i would be less inclined to, now that all the noise is over Gary Cahill?
It might suggest that he is second best in the order of choice in KK s mind and that he is ONLY first choice IF he's cheaper than GC.
That then opens up possibilities of him considering other offers over ours?
Or is it just paper talk and his agent will be keeping him warm as it were? Hope that makes sense...
Thanks and advance
Rugbyred. {Ed002's Note - I don't want to get in to comparing players but I can confirm that no bid has been made for Cahill. There has certainly been an enquiry and I assume some discussion, but no bid. You need to look a little bit further down the page where I have tried to sum up the CB situation.}

08 Aug 2011 13:13:19
Hi Ed,

I have a two part question; if that's okay.

Firstly; is Defoe really available for £5m? And if so; surely he would be a better option that N'Gog. To have Defoe and Carroll as options for the front striker position would strengthen us, if he wanted to come, of course.

Secondly; with Chelsea signing Lukaku, do you think Sturridge will become available? Again, surely he would be a better option than N'Gog?

Thanks,

Rossi46 {Ed002's Note - Defoe, given his age, will not be expensive, but I don't know of any interest and I doubt that he would want to sit on the bench. Sturridge is not available.}

08 Aug 2011 13:06:42
surely, after johnson limping off, we DEF have to sign a LWB now, it could be a blessing in disguise :D

08 Aug 2011 13:03:12
Hi Ed, do you think LFC will buy a backup winger after buying CB/LB just in case Downing gets injured, then there wont be any wingers to backup and it will be the same as last season. Your thoughts?
Thanks {Ed009's Note - I don't believe we will I am afraid. Maxi and of course Kuyt will be back up wingers, and Henderson is capable of playing wide right aptly.}

08 Aug 2011 13:00:18
Rumour that we rejected a 11 mil. euros offer from Udinese for Meireles.Any truth in that Ed? {Ed009's Note - As far as I am aware this isn't true. I believe we have had no more than enquiries into the player's availability.}

08 Aug 2011 12:39:58
hi ed 1.is pacheco going on loan this year?2.is the new boy from mexico(bueno) goo enough for us? i want your thouts. {Ed002's Note - I expect Pacheco will leave and move back to Spain. Bueno is just a kid, I have no idea how he will turn out, sorry.}

08 Aug 2011 11:56:17
Hi ed, just wondering who you think is the most likely centre back at the moment between Cahill and Dann and how much they'd cost.

{Ed002's Note - It is a tough call but I suspect Dann is still more likely than Cahill. He would probably cost around £10M whereas Bolton will be looking for around £18M or so for Cahill. Perhaps Bolton will take a player in part exchange given their injury problems. It seems that both Arsenal and Liverpool are interested in both players, but I would guess they are both baulking at the price of Cahill. Arsenal and Liverpool are also both looking to Mertesacker as an alternative, and probably cheaper, solution. Werder Bremen and possibly even Spurs are also considering Mertesacker. So the best bet maybe that Arsenal and Liverpool will each sign one of Cahill, Dann or Mertesacker. I expect as the week moves on things will become much clearer.}

08 Aug 2011 11:37:53
Ed, do u no if there will be a bid made for Gary Cahill, As i think he will be the next Carra?
Thanks {Ed002's Note - I suspect Arsenal are in pole position for Cahill. If a bid is to be made I would think it needs to be soon and plentiful.}

08 Aug 2011 11:35:18
Hi( ED 02) Do you think we will wait until the last minute to make anymore signings? Thanks. {Ed002's Note - No. I am sure that Liverpool will want to get their remaining signings made as soon as is possible. Obviously they are not going to want to pay over the odds and there needs to be time to negotiate etc..}

08 Aug 2011 11:25:32
what are the chances of liverpool signing Ryad Boudebouz {Ed002's Note - Most unlikely. Boudebouz has had a good season for Sochaux. St-Etienne want the player to replace Dmitri Payet and Marseille, Lyon and Newcastle are showing some interest. There was interest from Spurs and Liverpool last year and perhaps exagerated at this time in an effort being made to beef up his price. Any rekindled interest by Liverpool will likely be offset by the player saying he wants to stay another year at Sochaux.}

08 Aug 2011 11:22:17
I understand Real Sociadad have offered 4 Mill for Danny Pacheco. Could be a good move for him. More likely to get first team football there than at LFC.

Morning All
Just a bit of crack, but what have you heard about Schneider Ed002 ?
I think a move to the Septic Tanks would make them very strong.
We're definitely 2 x defenders short and even a RW.
But I'm happy with our dealings to date so far. Maybe another 1 or 2 in, then add the same in Jan.
The Real KB {Ed002's Note - Sneijder will almost certainly be moving and almost certainly to Manchester.}

08 Aug 2011 09:56:12
Ed, is there any offers of Ngog? {Ed002's Note - Sunderland showed an interest previously and Bolton may be interested now. I don't know of any offers.}

08 Aug 2011 09:47:55
Would people stop being so bloody naive Eden Hazard is not coming to Liverpool in anyway shape or form for this coming season. Negotiations, or inquiries about the player are more likely to be DC planting seeds.

If Liverpool get back into the Champions league, we have already talked to Hazard, confirmed interest, and if he becomes unhappy, he would be aware of previous interest from Liverpool, and see that we have CL football.

We have to get to the champions league first though.

Reports of a deal going on now are utter garbage.

Robbie Keane coming back to Liverpool as backup for Suarez. He's totally fallen out with Redknapp, and thinks he'll have more chance of a game back here.

Trust me.

08 Aug 2011 09:14:34
Ed are these Hazard rumours around again because the agureo and mata ones have stopped or is the some substance behind them?

{Ed006's Note - Wishful thinking I guess. There is no chance of us getting Hazard while Lille are in the Champions League and we are not.}

08 Aug 2011 08:41:08
I have been told Comolli has been in contact with Hazard's agent a lot through out the summer. However Hazard isnt keen on leaving just yet, especially not to a CL club. However he is still working hard so that if Hazard comes available (and wants to leave) he will see us as an attractive proposition.

For now though, I know Damien Comolli and Derek Lliambas (Newcastle's Managing Director) met at a hotel 2 nights ago for a brief time, in the region of half an hour for talks about Jose Enrique. I also know that a Spanish club has bid 7.5m euros (roughly £6m pound sterling). However Enrique is pushing for a LFC move as he would prefer to stay in England.

For CB, Cahill is the preference however the price may put us off. We have started formal talks with Bolton but it all depends in the end on how much he's gonna cost. If we miss out on him, we will move to Dann who would jump at a chance to move to us.

08 Aug 2011 07:18:04
Liverpool have made an enquiry over Borussia Dortmund defender Neven Subotic.

08 Aug 2011 01:13:53
Ed even though u rubbish the Hazard rumours i think DC is still working behind the scenes to bring him to Anfield and it cud be the last transfer day shock deal... He is the ideal player to replace cole and at 20 is what Fenway would go for so why is it such a no no from u Ed? He never stated he would never come here... We are Liverpool FC. YNWA {Ed002's Note - Sure.}

08 Aug 2011 01:49:02
Reports from Germany are indicating that Liverpool have joined Arsenal and Manchester United in monitoring Borussia Dortmund’s Japanese attacking midfielder Shinji Kagawa, with a view to making a bid for the player.

When the deals for Enrique and Cahill are done, with n'gog going to Bolton as part of the Cahill deal, Liverpool will make a £5m bid for Park Chu Young.

Eds, lots of sources linking us with Gary Cahill, what chance out of 10 would you predict? {Ed002's Note - 4 at the moment.}
