BREAKING NEWS: Liverpool have officially completed the signing of Charlie Adam. Source = SSN

07 Jul 2011 23:17:02
This is the full story from the French Magazine:

"Aly Cissokho returned to training with Lyon, as though the events of the last months mean nothing. He s put the Lyon shirt back on, as though the season that has just passed didn t his motivation. He therefore went to Austria for the pre-season with his teammates by his side. But after the activities, the left defender still hopes to leave Lyon. It s a hope that is shared by his directors, disappointed by the protests of their player and conscious of his sometimes-rocky relationship with the Lyon supporters - he clashed notably with some of them on the issue of a training session.

In search of a left defender, Liverpool has made known their conditions for a transfer, but didn t seem determined to open negotiations until now. Recently, the Mersey club has been the victim of the implacable confluence of the Arab multimillionaires and their petrodollars, who are difficult to ignore. Malaga, having just come under the control of Sheikh Abdulla ben Nasser al-Thani (Qatar), nabbed Spanish International Nacho Monreal from Osasuna, and Manchester City, owned by Mansour ben Zayed al-Nayhan (Abu Dhabi royal family) snatched Gael Clichy.

A profit of 9m? Ironically, Cissokho was also in contact with the Citizens. A meeting was even held in England to discuss the presentations of the player and the best manner of negotiating with Lyon. Since then, the losers of this game of musical chairs , Liverpool and Cissokho, were brought together. Though no offer was sent to Tola-Vologe , the directors of Liverpool have opened discussions with the representatives of the player, as is customary, to suss out the terms of a future contract. Told of the advancements of these negotiations, Cissokho is wrapped up in the idea of discovering the Premier League. He hopes to join the French team in the next Euro cup, even if there s an overload at his position (Abidal, Clichy). But Lyon isn t taking his considerations into account. And Lyon doesn t intend to give up their defenseman so easily, given that he s still under contract until 2014. The club hopes to at least recuperate 9m for the player who cost 15m, after only 6 months at the highest level at FC Porto, in the summer of 2009. All that remains from this point is to know how much the Reds are able to spend"

Ps. Thanks Ed. {Ed009's Note - my pleasure.}

I study at Liverpool John Moores University but currently I am on a work placement for UCFB as it gets up and running (for those who don't know, it is a new football university based at Turf Moor in Burnley). There was major rumblings today of a bid from Liverpool for young striker Jay Rodriguez, according to the staff that work in the directors lounge, just thought I would pass on what I heard.

Hi ed's, is there a hold-up in the charlie Adam deal?
Seems like a long time discussing personal terms, unless it is the fa being pricks with is as usual...
Bean {Ed009's Note - the signing will be completed soon, it is as good as done.}

Galatasary are now going to play Liverpool in a friendly to celebrate the opening of there New Stadium .
They must have known for a long time the Stadium would be completed on a certain date and look to make arrangements for a special game.
Question is this "Why so late and why us? and at such short notice.
Got to be Arda Turan is on his way, who we know Kenny likes. He was a real handful when he played at Anfield a couple seasons ago.
What do you think? could be a great player in the right team. Could be Liverpools Messi.
kidmillions {Ed009's Note - he's a fantastic player who Kenny was previously interested in and suggested as a signing to Rafa. Oddly he has not followed up that interest in the slightest, and the player long looked nailed on to sign Atletico. That deal has dragged on and now other teams are in the mix - such as Chelsea who were offered the player in exchange for Drogba. I suppose Kenny could have decided his questionable injury record or lack of physical stature could count against him in the Premier League.}

07 Jul 2011 22:54:41
Roma's Brazilian keeper Alexander Doni should be next although Kenny Dalglish would also like to have Stewart Downing in the squad before the weekend.

Meanwhile Former Liverpool goalkeeper Dean Bouzanis has signed for Melbourne Victory

07 Jul 2011 22:42:14
Is there a reason why we can't go for Albrighton instead of downing because I think he's better for the future and simply just better. Would Villa not sell him? {Ed002's Note - He is not for sale.}

07 Jul 2011 22:37:20
I've just read on Canvas teletekst (Belgian Dutch- language Channel) that Jovanovic dined with two board members of Anderlecht in Quatar about a month ago after his operation. Jovanovic said that the talks were very interesting so we'll have to see if anything comes of it. I was actually looking to see if there was any mention of Hazard but there was absolutely nothing. I think that he is quite happy to stay with Rijsel for the time being. (Before any joker comes in to say that he plays for Lille - Rijsel is the name that the Vlamingen (Dutch-speaking Belgians) use for Lille.

I heard a little rumour Ngog rejected two prem clubs as he wants to return to France an Lpool might look to use him in a player + cash to land Hazard - Only a rumour but would be a great coup. Any thoughts Ed's? {Ed009's Note - Hazard won't be joining Liverpool this summer.}

07 Jul 2011 22:19:56
anelka to sign by the end of week

07 Jul 2011 22:15:21
Insua is set to stay till at least January, KK sees no value in the left backs currently available in this transfer window. Paul Konchesky will not be travelling to the far east with the rest of the team, Stoke and Wolves both interested in a cut price deal. Koncheskys wage demands are a sticking point, as he is currently on around £50,000pw Despite what many people believe, Liverpool are very much in the Market for another striker. Expect Doni, Downing, a right winger and a quality centre back to be signed by the end of the month. If I was a betting man, my money would be on Scott Dann and (as an outside bet) Arda Turan.

Ed do you not think we have got enough british players now and do you think ther is any truth in cazorla and cissokho signig? Thanks {Ed002's Note - Cazorla will stay with Villareal if the 23M euro Malaga bid is not accepted. Cissokho is a possibility as I have explained.}

07 Jul 2011 22:14:07
Once Adam and Downing (99% deal done at £17.5m) have formally signed, KK and co. are looking for two more guaranteed signings, being a left back and centre back.
CB options are Dann or Shawcross, although my source says KK's preferred choice is Dawson from Spurs (cannot see them selling him myself), with the left backs being the usual subjects, but do not write off Baines coming across Stanley.

Once the above positions have been filled, KK is happy that we have a squad to challenge, but he has been promised funds for a 'Hollywood' signing, to both offer proof (if we need it) to the English fans of the owners commitment and as a marketing tool - It will be a late 'transfer window' signing and, however strange it sounds, it will be dependant on who is still available.

Mata is No 1 target and our interest has been posted, but we will not join the bidding war now and, if he goes before the club are 'ready', then they will look elsewhere.

07 Jul 2011 22:08:58
What's all this with people assuming that any interest in Richards is a no-go as he's a right back? The lads a solid centre-back all the way but has been played there by the management at city. It's the same as Kelly, versatile and competent at right back but with far more potential in the centre. A versatile, young, British and solid player of this nature is rare. A f*****g beast of a lad...ideal loads more to come It would never happen but would be nice.

Ed002. Now that Roma have got rid of Riise and are interested in Insua. What about the chance of a deal of taking Vucanic(spelling) and offering them around 8 mil. Doesn't seem too happy their, not in starting line up every week and although we have 2 top echelon forwards in Suarez and Carroll, its always good to have competition for places or cover for an injury. Jonson6 {Ed002's Note - It'll take more than £8M and other clubs have been looking. The thing is, that unless he is already a target, Liverpool are not going to flip-flop from one player to the next.}

07 Jul 2011 21:20:13
ed wat do u mean by "dogy ownership issues" every time u are asked a question about erik lamela {Ed002's Note - Mr Lamela is subject to third party ownership (remember Tevez and Mascherano at West Ham) and this is not allowed in England. Worse that their situation is that these owners are "unknown" and hidden behind a couple of shell companies. He will not be moving to England this year. My suggestion has been Roma.}

07 Jul 2011 22:05:57
I think Enrique would be a good signing if the price is right, otherwise we should go for options abroad. Guys is there any truth in the Cissokho Rumours?

PakiRed {Ed009's Note - there is a magazine in France which suggests they are. There is interest there, but I wouldn't go as far as the magazine as Arsenal are probably currently the favourites. He has intimated his desire to come here though, so there is definitely a chance.}

MANCHESTER CITY are in advanced talks with Sergio Aguero's representatives over a £35million move.

On sky sports its says dann has not agrred terms with stoke and is holding out for one of the big teams to up their interest... i think liverpool might just do that now

07 Jul 2011 21:40:10
Whats the hold up with charlie EDs? its was anounced this morning he'd passed the medical. Do you think were gna announce a double or treble signing at the same time tomorrow instead? {Ed009's Note - he will be joining. If it makes a difference to you whether he does so in the next hour or day you should find him, and take up the speed of his dotted line technique with him. I am not sure that any of our other targets are close enough to sign tomorrow.}

07 Jul 2011 21:40:44
Edz this one is for you
People who keep asking the same question about Mata you all should have eyes so read earlier posts Ive seen about 100 answers on the subject and its starting to do my head in let alone how the edz must feel
Downing is our first choice people need to give the player a break Mata and Turan are possibilities but Downing looks most likely and I think either one of the 3 are a good addition.
Edan Hazard I would love to see with us but will it happen ? ? Lets just say it would suprise us all. Cissokho would be a good signing but I think we will get Enrique.
Edz how do you putcup with it ? ?
Great site though

Scaggieboi 1988 {Ed002's Note - I agree with what you have said.}

07 Jul 2011 21:15:36
Ed are we just dreaming about the likes of Cissokho considering they only bought him for 15 million 2 years ago and they don't want to sell plus he has done well so I'm thinking it would need to be a huge fee to get them to sell? Dub red {Ed002's Note - No, Sissokho is a very real option. Lyon are close to finding a replacement - Benfica seem to be out of the loop right now but Arsenal are trying pretty hard.}

I know that SSN are basically just guessing, but I personally would like to see Mica Richards come in at right back with Johnson in front of him on the wing. A large number of people unfairly criticise Johnson for his defensive abilities while praising him for his attacking ability. A fast, skilful winger with an excellent cross and a fierce shot, left or right foot, with defensive ability - Sounds like the ideal player for our right wing. {Ed009's Note - Johnson will be tried out on the wing next season - it was Kenny's intention to do so this one just gone. Unfortunately I don't think that City will dream of selling Richards who is probably their first choice right back.}

07 Jul 2011 19:35:33
ed not sure if this is true but i hve heared psg hav offered us Guillaume Hoarau for arnd 12mil can u plz just check it out..............RED INDIAN {Ed009's Note - interest in Hoarau that seemed to have died down does appear to have been re-kindled. Whether that will result in a bid is not certain yet but there is certainly a reasonable chance.}

07 Jul 2011 19:27:18
santi cazorla fee agreed
will come out in 1-3 days

07 Jul 2011 19:25:28
Ed, apologies if this has already been asked, but when you (can't remember which ed, i think 001?) said that cissokho has been dropping hints he wants a move, was that a move in general or specifically to us? I know it may bear no difference to any potential transfer but I was just curious...

Thanks in advance

King Kam

ps. Love the little dream team we've got here of Ed001, Ed002, Ed009 and the recent acquisition of Ed0028 ;) {Ed009's Note - not sure if Ed001 said it too, but I certainly have. He has been making it clear predominantly that he wants a move to a bigger club full stop, but he has said that he believes us to be a 'huge' club, and stated that Liverpool specifically would be a 'dream' destination.}

07 Jul 2011 19:24:40
is their a possibility of us signing Riise now that Fulham have placed a bid?

Mista T {Ed009's Note - there is a fantastic chance if we make a bid, but at this point we haven't, and Kenny seems in no rush to do so.}

07 Jul 2011 20:54:31
Hi eds, the Hazard rumour seems to be gaining momentum (this is not the only site I have read this now) I take it it is still speculation and the whispers are at this stage unfounded?
As much as I want to see this player sign, I won't get too excited (well not until you give me the nod) lol

Cheers

07 Jul 2011 20:38:43
Ed's...

Do you have any news on whether Aquilani or Mereiles will be leaving?

Surely both players will leave now that Henderson and Adam are at Anfield? {Ed002's Note - I expect both to leave at some point.}

07 Jul 2011 20:33:49
Cazorla......NO
Mata/Downing....one or the other
Cissokho.......possibly as NUFC want massive price for Enrique who has year left on contract
Marquee Signing.......Yes (were in tentative negotiations with 3 'marquee' type players but only 1 will be signed and I have it on good authority that we are in advanced negotiations with Lille for Eden Hazard with a cash plus David Ngog offer, Ngog has already agreed terms with LOSC and are getting closer to LOSC's asking price for Hazard.

You don't have to believe me, just remember me when these players become property of LFC

Regards

Mart

07 Jul 2011 20:32:01
ed 002. you said earlier that you thought cissokho would likely end up at arsenal what are your reasons for this as i find it hard to believe that arsene would spend so much money on a left back with his transfer record, i agree that it would be an inflated fee and could cost as much as £20,000,000. seems unlikely to me...

aj... {Ed002's Note - I don't recall saying that, but still. Arsenal and Benfica have both held talks with Lyon. Lyon are actively looking for a replacement and feel that they want to move Cissokho on now. Liverpool have made a couple of enquiries but I have not seen any confirmation of going further just yet. They could drop interest in Enrique and move for Cissokho, but until they do Arsenal are in better shape.}

07 Jul 2011 20:20:17
Why were we not looking at John Arne Riise? Left back, has played in Prem - one of our old boys? Surley he could have done a job. {Ed002's Note - Liverpool are looking to the future , not just someone who can do a job. Poulsen can "do a job" - do you want him to sign a new contract?}

07 Jul 2011 20:17:18
{Ed002's Note - Just a reminder to everyone that attempts at bring news as fake Macca's, Ed's, etc. results in a ban.}

07 Jul 2011 19:58:28
SSN website reporting that numerous clubs are monitoring the situation with Micah Richards. Could we be one of the clubs ed's? I know we had interest in Jan & he's in the appropriate age gap & can play centre half.

& if we sign Downing please can everyone get off his back.............

Preston Wool {Ed002's Note - Seems very unlikely - there is no need for a RB.}

07 Jul 2011 19:53:52
Hi Ed's

Addictive site...

Liverpool ins:
- M. Richards
- A. Cissokho

- M. Sissoko
- Nzogbia
- Mata

07 Jul 2011 19:53:47
hi eds. great site as everybody else says. what do u guys think about making a bid for micah richards. hes strong young and can play cb or rb. please post {Ed002's Note - RB needs no cover so it seems unlikely. Since the interest in January Kelly and Flanagan have come real good.}

07 Jul 2011 19:49:39
I have it on good authority that once the downing deal has been wrapped up we will turn our attentions to cazorla and enrique. Also mata is a no go due to competition as KD and DC dont want to risk wasing time on someone who is unlickely to sign for liverpool fc.

07 Jul 2011 19:14:38
Ed the rumours about cissoko are correct, there are pictures of the front cover of france football for tommorow with an article saying cissoko is coming to us {Ed002's Note - I don't deny the cover, but that does not mean he is moving to Liverpool. Think about Coentrao to Liverpool and the frenzy there was before the truth was finally accepted. As I say, Arsenal have an interest as well.}

07 Jul 2011 19:14:02
sky sports news are saying that liverpool are closing it on another midfielder.can you eds tell something about this thks a lot keep it up.jbj lfc forever {Ed002's Note - I can only assume they are talking of Downing.}

07 Jul 2011 19:13:27
Ed what fee do you think villa would accept for downing? {Ed002's Note - Much depends if Downing puts in a transfer request. If he does, I suspect about £17M should be acceptable.}

07 Jul 2011 19:13:26
Just been reading through tweets from various places and it seems a french magazine stating aly cissokho ( spellcheck) is on the verge of joining lfc. Wou;d be great at left back. saw his debut for france and was impressed.

07 Jul 2011 18:59:54
France Football Magazine tomorrow will report Aly Cissokho is on his way to Liverpool. Its on the front cover and thats a fact. Eds you got any info on this? {Ed002's Note - Cissokho may leave Lyon this summer if a high fee is paid. Manchester City looked willing to oblige until they signed Clichy. Arsenal seem favourites, Liverpool a chance.}

07 Jul 2011 18:58:40
Has Charlie Adam signed yet? {Ed002's Note - Soon.}

07 Jul 2011 18:43:25

refering to post about schennikov i posted few minutes ago what ur take on da player also tel me other eds opinions

LFC4LYF dnt forget da name

{Ed002's Note - He is seen as a great prospect and may well be an option for January rather than now. He is out with an injury and not expected to return to the CSKA team until October at the earliest.}

07 Jul 2011 18:39:16
Liverpool fc set for pre-season friendly against Galatasaray in Istanbul.

Ed do you think that Arda Turan in any way is involved in this. {Ed002's Note - He may play, or could well have been transferred out by then.}

07 Jul 2011 18:23:13
hi ed, great site
just had a question in mind are we still interested in mattew jarvis frm wolves i hve heared wolves r ready to cash him n he is available for 6m nothing definitv just a question i had in my mind...............RED INDIAN {Ed002's Note - I don't know of interest from Liverpool at this time, and suspect he may well not move this summer.}

07 Jul 2011 18:22:57
Ed when reina wanted to leave Commoli had a meeting with him and made him want to stay at Liverpool do you know anything about the meeting as i think most fans thought we would be going for a spanish major signing to prove to reina there was a reason to stay

MJ {Ed002's Note - What I am about to tell you is not to be repeated. I understand that the meeting between Comolli and Reina went well indeed - lots of laughter and wet towel snapping. Comolli said that Reina could choose any one player he wanted to join him at Liverpool to make him stay - and Comolli, Dalglish and FSG would move heaven and earth to make it happen for Reina. After much thought, Pepe decided it was Stewart Downing who he needed as a team mate. Makes sense now doesn't it? Everything suddenly falls in to place.}

07 Jul 2011 18:13:44
No sources or nonsense about my nan's postman's nephews jack russel is best pals with ex player, but given all the fuss that was made of our friendly with valencia this summer, is there perhaps something behind the newly announced friendly away to Galatasaray? Arda Turan has been mentioned once or twice, and given that it is an away fixture, just seems a bit of a bolt from the blue otherwise. Any thoughts, Ed(s)? {Ed009's Note - It did strike me as a bit odd, the onus that was put on it as a "big return" to where we won the Champions League. At the same time though, we shouldn't read too much into any friendly. I'd love it to be true.}

07 Jul 2011 17:46:47
Simple question for the Eds - what, if any are the chances of us signing Eden Hazard ?
Seems like a quality player.
Can we attract young talant from europe without champs league ? Especially with man.c etc offering CL + huge wages {Ed009's Note - little to none at this time. I would be very surprised.}

07 Jul 2011 17:46:15
ANY NEWS ON DIEGO EDD? would love him, some creativity in there is all we need now after we get downing, shud try 4 nasri aswel lol, damn it no cl footy ,
irish kop {Ed009's Note - we made an enquiry for the player a few weeks ago but since then nothing has happened I'm afraid. Nasri is quite simply no go.}

07 Jul 2011 17:34:38
Mark my words Liverpool fc will buy Ibrahim AFFELAY from Barcelona if the bid for Downing fails

Diehard Reds

07 Jul 2011 17:32:09
hey eds great site cant get off
spot on about charlie adam so im guessing you would tell us before SSN if we signed sum1 or are close

what do you think of the following players that are buyable right now

1)erik lamela

2)juan mata

3)stewart downing

4)i say lets launch a cheeky 10 mil on bojan

5)aly cissokho nb... i knw lyon play hardball i say offer 15 mil nt more nt less LB is important not enrique

6)a great foil for suarez and carroll would be adam morgan or we could for a backup striker go for park chu young

7)try launch a bid for keisuke honda at approx 14 mil i knw he costs more bt you never know whast could happen

and lastly eds what do you think of cska moscows left back GEOGI SCHENNIKOV {Ed009's Note - Lamela is billed as the next everything at the moment, but I doubt he will be moving anywhere in England due to some dodgy ownership issues. Juan Mata would be possible if we followed up previous interest and enquiry in the player, which we haven't - Arsenal and Spurs have. This appears to be because Downing is the main focus of the management team at this moment in time.

Bojan looks likely to sign for Roma. Cissokho keeps intimating his desire to sign for us, but he is unlikely to move this summer, and we may well sign Enrique. Park Chu Young would be a decent back up and is very interested - interest I'm not sure is reciprocated and he does have a questionable scoring record. Honda on the other hand is a fantastic player and would have been a brilliant third attacker if we had bid in January when he was available for cheap. They now want in excess of 20 million for a player who prefers Spain or Italy.}

07 Jul 2011 17:22:40
Hi Ed, Do you think Mata is a possibility still? Or is he probably going to go to North London?
Cheers {Ed009's Note - I think he would be a possibility if we followed up the interest we had. We made an enquiry but have left it at that up till now. If we made an offer I have no doubt we would beat Spurs who have a 70,000 pound a week wage cap and believe we'd have a good chance against Arsenal too.}

07 Jul 2011 17:18:54
Ed why hasn't adam been confirmed are we waiting to annouce someone with him {Ed009's Note - Other clubs have made offers for the player and it is a case of pushing everything through, with enough benefits for New Slimline Charlie, so that he can become an official Liverpool player.}

07 Jul 2011 17:16:54
Hi Any news on Ryad Boudebouz? also what do you think he'll cost?
Great site, compulsive and addictive...not good for a married man {Ed007's Note - Thanks mate}

07 Jul 2011 17:06:55
Just heared we playing a friendly against Galatasaray. Ed do you think Turan is on his way to anfield? {Ed002's Note - It is not worth speculating about. The standard words on the subject are: Arda Turan will move this summer and looked Atletico Madrid bound, perhaps the move is awaiting Aguero to be sold so that funds are available, but now things appear to be changing. Dortmund, apparently, remain interested but Villarreal and Spurs appear have dropped any interest that they had. I suspect Valencia and Chelsea are keeping a watchful eye on matters but to try and persuade Chelsea to let go of Drogba, Galatasaray have rather surprisingly offered up Arda as part of the deal. I have no idea why Liverpool have not followed up the interest they previously had in the player.}

07 Jul 2011 16:48:23
Ed(s),

Graham Hunter (Sky) seems to think Arsenal are leading the race to sign Juan Mata ... Do you know if he is a reliable source and what are your opinions on the transfers going through at the moment ?
Would be interesting to see what your thoughts are.

Also, have you heard anything new on the battle for Neymar ? All I've heard is that it is between Barca and Real, other than that I haven't got any info.

Cheers

El Roja {Ed002's Note - Arsenal and Spurs are the two teams fighting over Mata right now. What you have heard over Neymar is misleading. - they are the two Spanish teams involved. Liverpool are not involved at all in any dealings related to Neymar.}

07 Jul 2011 16:43:32

people saying we need a backup striker which i totally agree with but in my opinion sum1 from the champonship like jay bothroyd or shane long would be perfect providing lfc can get them for 5-10million. kk could also use them in fa cup/league cup matches and rest suarez and carroll for prem and also use them in matches against the bottom teams and rest suarez and carroll for the bigger teams.

with recent interest from Roma, word is that we'll be making an approach for Clint Dempsey. While he doesn't fit the age criteria for NESV, he's considered to be a strong 3rd striker for around the $6m mark, has premiership exp and comes with the added bonus of new US merchandising. watch this space.

Ed what do you think of the reports of us bidding ngog + money for hazard? DO you think we will bid again for downing? {Ed002's Note - Are these reports from Twitter? I expect Downing will hand in a transfer request and Liverpool will make an acceptable bid.}

07 Jul 2011 16:39:40
Ed do you think we will end up bidding for mata? It would seem odd not to after all the reported interest {Ed002's Note - I refer you to earlier posts and yesterday's posts. I cannot be expected to anser the same question over and over again. We will be deleting such questions from now on.}

As a keen liverpool fan i can see hwy people are gettin frustrated with us not making a move for mata but in my opinion turan would be a better player he states he dream of playing for us so why not try and tempt him to anfield instead of mata or downing {Ed002's Note - Downing is the first choice for the management team - just get used to it.}

Deals to be completed by Sunday (For Asia Tour)

Downing £18 Million
Enrique £9 Million
Doni Free

May be a late bid for Mata next week, however that story will probably drag on foir a while whilst other teams put other bids in (City, United, Chelsea........)

Alos expect Cole and Poulsen to still be at Liverpool Next season no interest in either at this time.

eds is there any progress on mata? i can't see why we forget about downing and snap up. mata before someone else does what do you think of this {Ed002's Note - The Liverpool management team have set their target as Downing in teh first instance. You may just need to accept life without Mata.}

Charlie Adam is officially a Liverpool player as he has passed his medical and personal terms have been agreed. Check out wikipedia and it says he is a Liverpool player. You cannot edit the player bio. My source is just info gathered Also the 2 players will be either shelvy, Wilson or derby. The deal Should be announced tonight on the news. This is no garbage

Eds, any reason why we aren't pursuing David Santon? Is he not everything we're looking for? Young, talebted and a LB. I know we had previous interest, but am just wondering why its waned. {Ed002's Note - Santon, a RB who can play at LB, will (a) stay at Inter and stop bleating, (b) go on loan in Italy, or (c) move - probably to Udinese or Roma.}

Aly cissokho is according to wiki a lfc player Obviously not the most reliable source But with all the renewed rumours of him joining was just looking for an opinion on him Is he a good player? {Ed002's Note - Cissokho will probably not be leaving Lyon this summer unless a high fee is paid. Manchester City may have been willing to oblige before they took on Clichy. Arsenal and Liverpool both need a left back, but he may be pricey and both may have other targets (Baines, Enrique.}

honestly would hate to see mata sign for any other club than ourselves as i believe he can be the missing piece of our improving jigsaw, i just hope that kk and dc would see downing as a waste of 15m if whats been posted is correct i believe hes very good technically however dont think for that price is money well spent, also with regards to our defensive side of things, we are looking for a left back and centre half by all accounts, i would like so see sakho bought as he is a cb but can also cover at left back aswell so the price quoted of 20m for him do u belive this to be killing two birds with one stone eds? and also how many more players can u see being brought into the club so optimistic about the new season and think we have great owners now and see things looking up and honestly beleive that not getting into europe is a blessing decise
in kenny we trust YNWA {Ed002's Note - You may need to get the hankies out over Mata. I agree that Sakho would be a really great signing - but Liverpool have already baulked at the price once and walked away. Perhaps a return to ask PSG again is in order - but it will need to be soon.}

So things are happening now, City moved to swiftly seal Clichy and Savic; the Scum quickly wrapped Young up and is now going all out for Nasri and Sneijder; Arsenal and Spurs have both bid for Mata and are set to go mano a mano for him; we're about seal a deal (Adam) that's unnecessarily dragged on for weeks and are at the moment channelling all our energies on another deal (Downing) that's dragged on for weeks.

Evident in the above is a trend at LFC, a worrying trend of a certain slowness, dragging on.
It began in January with the Suarez transfer.

Brand me a "moaner" if that makes you happy, but I'm sorry, I just can't bring myself to fully trust Comolli.

I'm not a fan who expects things to happen at a snap of the fingers, no. I'm much more reasonable than that.
What I want to see is things moving.

Things being done with little waste of time and unnecessary shenanigans.
Either get in there and do the deal, or walk away.

Reading the posts I see that attempts are being made to justify Downing being first choice to Mata.
We're told that we have "no basis" on which to say Mata would be better for LFC than Downing.

It is said that Dalglish, Comolli and the scouts "invest hours collecting comprehensive data of players, so therefore they, and they alone, are better placed to decide who'd be better".

Indeed, data is collected, and that enables the coaching team to decide on who they believe best fits their criteria.
However, I don't see how this is relevant in terms of fans airing their views.

Are we now supposed to do comprehensive research on players and gather data like Comolli before forming our opinions?
Does my not having "comprehensive data" on Downing mean that I shouldn't say he's the worst of three alternatives we could have gone for?

Because I don't have "comprehensive data", am I now supposed to regard Dalglish's word as gospel?
Forgive my ignorance, I didn't know that Kenny&Comolli are messiahs with infallible judgments and far beyond scrutiny.

If Kenny&Comolli say Downing over Mata; if they say David James' a better keeper than Pepe; if they say we are in the 80s, that must true.
Afterall, these men have "comprehensive data" on top of infallible judgements that were they to be questioned, a great would've been committed.

"Research">>"data">>"analysis" = YES Stewart Downing and NOOOOOO Juan Mata or Juan Vargas.
Interesting, very interesting.

Arsenal and Tottenham have not met Mata's buy out clause yet. liverpool Will or already have made an offer and the Downing deal will not effect this. international transfers are being kept hush, and english targets want to be signed before sunday.clubs have spoke to valencia and reps of Mata, however Juan has only just came back from holiday and will make his mind up wether he stays or goes. honestly i believe he is likely to stay however if he came to the prem it would be liverpool.

Aqua man will be sold after a certain date this month the reason being is that roma are entited to a percentage of any transfer fee upto a certain date in July. Ed what is the reasoning behind going for Downing (a good player) for near 20 million and at 27 no re-sale value if it doesn't work out? 07 Jul 2011 10:06:17
Ed well done for giving the right info for the adam deal.Who is most likely to b the next signing? {Ed002's Note - It is impossible to say who will be next for fear of retribution. Putting aside Doni and any late Atletico bid, one could assume Downing or Enrique should be considered as most likely. But nothing is certain.}

07 Jul 2011 10:01:07
A lot of talk of Juan Mata and Stewart Downing, in my view we will only sign one and I hope its Mata.
£19m for Downing or £21m for Mata? To me it's a no-brainer - younger, quicker, just as dangerous a goal threat.

Someone on the banter page said they think Joe Cole will stay this season, I for one hope your right. I was one of those people last season who thought he could make a real difference to our side, but for one reason or another it just didn't click for him. If anyone can get the best out of him it's Kenny Dalglish.

I hope the last few days has raised the hopes of those who haven't been happy with our business so far this summer.

We've been linked frequently in the past with Keisuke Honda, for me he would be a perfect fit in a 3-tier attack and can play as a striker, winger or attacking midfielder centre, what do you think our chances of signing him are? {Ed002's Note - I completely agree with you about Honda being the obvious solution. Liverpool decided not to go after the player for around £8M in January. CSKA are willing to sell now at around £21M and the player has said he wishes to move to Spain or Italy. Go figure.}

07 Jul 2011 09:56:29
Hi Ed- Do you kow have we our eye on anybody else bar Downing and Enrique? apparently only spurs and aresenal have bidded on Mata. do you think Kenny will go for a striker or another ATTACKING midfielder. Happy Adam is here though {Ed002's Note - At the moment Enrique and Downing lead the list of targets. I expect there may be one or two additions including a striker who is perhaps happy to not be first choice but good enough to start when required through suspension, injury etc. As I have said since last summer, my choice would be for Park Chu-Young of Monaco, or possibly his partner there Benjamin Moukandjo. Hoarau's name has come up again as well. It is probably worth noting that if Liverpool had made the efforts to capture Honda in January that many of the issues we are discussing now would not have happened.}

07 Jul 2011 09:50:09
Ed when you are saying the 2 clubs in for mata are spurs and arsenal. Well when graham hunter said two clubs last night, everyone guessed liverpool and arsenal and he said they were correct and that we werr very interested? {Ed002's Note - OK then, I guess you should believe Mr Hunter then. I have no problem with that at all.}

07 Jul 2011 09:41:23
Hi Ed,

I think all the posts re Mata are wishful thinking, If you look at the Adam deal and how we pursued is shows the Downing deal will go the same way? Personally I think we should test the water with Real Madrid and try to get Alonso back? He's expierienced, professional and let's face it pure world class? I think all we need then is LB and CB but no clue as to which ones? Maybe another striker? But we could hang fire until January as we have options in Kuyt and Stevie G can play behind a striker if we have any injuries to Suarez or Carroll? I don't think there is a bottemless pit of cash and the owners are very shrewd? What do you think ?

Cheers and keep up the excellent work.

Brownie {Ed002's Note - Real Madrid would want a very significant fee for Alonso and he is around the 30 mark. Whilst I could possibly see him moving back toward the end of his career, the chances of it happening now are slim. Adam is all but signed up and I really cannot see Alonso fitting in right now. The deal with Downing needs Aston Villa to lower there expectations or Liverpool to improve their offer. For certain Downing will need to submit a transfer request to get any negotiations going. As for Mata, I stand by yesterday's discussion on the issue in that I cannot see him and Downing happening. Arsenal and Spurs will fight it out over the player, but perhaps they will be shocked by a late bid, or perhaps two from elsewhere (but not Liverpool at this time).}

07 Jul 2011 09:39:52
is there any truth in roma keeper Doni coming on a free? {Ed002's Note -I doubt it will be free but unless Atletico Madrid make a late bid which is more attractive to the player, there is every chance he will join Liverpool for a smallish fee soon. But beware of a late bid.}

07 Jul 2011 09:23:30
Hi ED,

You were bang on with Charlie's arrival..
Thanks for that mate..

Any developments on Jose Enrique or any other Left backcoveted? {Ed002's Note - I suspect that Enrique is still the first choice left back and that another offer will be made.}

07 Jul 2011 09:18:18
The only surprise this summer is the fact that there won't be this "surprise signing" people are predicting.
No big, flashy names.

I think we more likely to see Suarez/-like arrivals.
Huge talent, expensive but fairly unproven at high level and no household name.

Everybody could see Fernando's potential at Atletico. He'd bang them in, but wasn't that prolific.
We brought him here and he developed into a very fine forward.

The pattern will be the same with Luis.
Fairly young, huge potential, unproven at high level and expensive but no flashy name.

This kid will be world class; a very important player for Liverpool.

And other signings of the Suarez/Torres ilk that viable for LFC include Ezequiel Lavezzi, Edinson Cavani, Arda Turan, Moussa Sissoko, Blaise Matuidi, Aly Cissokho and Yann M'Vila.

Within these players are supersters.
They're all ready to make a step up and become very important players, like Fernando in 2007 and Luis earlier this year.

I'm of the view that we're not looking at the Aguero, Pastore, Coentrao, Sneijder, Sanchez name players, and I'm convinced nor should we be.
Good players they are but ridiculously pricey.

The alternaties are far more attractive to me as I'm sure they are Dalglish and Comolli too.
Top, relatively inexpensive and unknown talent.

Moussa could be as good as the skipper; Blaise can be as good as Essien; Yann could reach the level of Makelele; Ezequiel can be a better player than Tevez; Arda would run Silva very closely.

Good thing is that those players would come at bargain fees.
An even better thing is that we have Dalglish, a man who knows how to mould players and get the best out of them.

Sad thing though is that, I keep getting this feeling that none of them will arrive; that it will be somebody else.

hi ed, bbc sport says west ham want joe cole on loan. do you think liverpool could sumhow make this part of a deal for scott parker?? {Ed002's Note - I am pretty sure that there is no interest in a 30 year old central midfield player. Additionally, playing in the Championship does not seem likely to help Cole's England clause either. As such it seems pretty unlikely to me.}

sky sports news graham hunter just reported that two clubs are in talks with mata as they have both met the 25million euros asking price. One is confirmed to be arsenal and the other is unknown.
i hope to got that it is us as his creativity, flare and final ball would take lfc to the next level.

welsh scouse YNWA {Ed002's Note - The other club is Spurs.}

Graham hunter on ssn saying that 2 english clubs have met the 25M buy out clause in Juan Matas contract and are in negotiations with valencia. He says he knows one is arsenal. Could we be the other?

Jono9 {Ed002's Note - No, Spurs are the other.}

Quick q eds,

Is our interest in cazorla serious? Personally I think we would do better to sign him than mata as he is more of a winger, mata plays more like a forward and while both would be good additions cazorla would suit a 442 system much much better.

Mr E {Ed002's Note - The only offer I know that has been made for Cazorla is around 23M euros from Malaga and Villareal want more. No other offers have been made at this time.}

Hi Eds,

I think Liverpool should bid on the South Korea Captain Park Chou Young (correct my spelling). The guy said he wanted to join us and issued a come and get me plea. Another thing since this player is Korean it would help us out with our main sponsor Standard Chartered and also we all know that in Asia we have got a lot of supporters. The player playing with the relegated Monaco is valued at around 8-9 million. He has got experience, would be worth the money, improve our sales of shirts in Asia and would be better than Ngog for the fourth striker. What are your comments about this?

Thanks David {Ed002's Note - I have been saying for months that Chu-Young would be an excellent buy for Liverpool. He has of course only been a Liverpool supporter for a couple of weeks. He also has an offer on teh table from Lille.}

hi eds. first of all great site, cant help but check it every 2 or 3 hours. i jus wanted to ask wheather u guys think diego will be a good signing for us and if so where he will fit in to our team. also i dont understand how u guys put up with all the obviously stupid rumours that some ppl post here and btw this is my first post so pls tell me if i hav asked or typed anything wrong. keep up the great work eds ur work is much appreciated. {Ed002's Note - As I have explained I think Diego is too high risk. With Adam signing up it seems unlikely Liverpool will chase Diego as well.}

ED, any truth about these news;
1)Fiorentina interested in Aquilani...
2)Inter interested in Raul Meireles..
3)LFC already submit bid for Cazorla. How much?
4)How about dejan Lovren? for 3-6m i think LFC should buy him..any news..

LFCwonder. {Ed002's Note - (1) I don't know of any interest, but his agent is trying deperately to find him a club. (2) I don't know of specific interest from Inter but there is interest from Italy, Malaga and Portugal. (3) The only offer I know of for Cazorla is around 23M euros from Malaga. (4) Perhaps it will happen. Not for the money suggested though.}

The main new arrival i wanted at this club this summer was mata. But according to reports in the daily mail it says that valencia have said that their is strong interest from two english clubs, i.e spuds and arsenal. And arsenal look to be in the driving seat to match the £21m valuation valencia have put on him. Do u think their is any truth to this ed's?

Red Pinero {Ed002's Note - I can confirm that the two English clubs pressing for Mata's signature are Spurs and Arsenal. At this time, Liverpool's number one target is Downing but unless they up their offer and Aston Villa change their stance then no deal will be possible. As I explained yesterday, on a number of occasions, I very much doubt that Downing and Mata would both move to Liverpool. As such, if Downing falls through then Liverpool could change their attention to Mata - or possibly N'Zogbia. We will see.}

Stewart downing will have a 'chat' with the men in the know at villa on Friday. If he wants to leave expect him to have a medical on Friday afternoon or Saturday before the reds leave for Asia.

Heard Aquilani or meireles to be used in an exchange offer for Mata from valencia as a replacement for Banega who could be on his way to Inter Milan, thought to be £14million plus Aquilani or £10million plus meireles, anyone heard this?...Ed's? {Ed029's Note - I've heard of interest in Meireles from Inter but cash plus player deals are quite rare}

BREAKING NEWS
CAZROLA to join LIVERPOOL after the replacement has been found for Villarreal the fee has been agreed
P.S:just to wonder people that when we look to the transfer activity we can see that Liverpool buy the player after many bidding so the different bid for the same player mark that he is in the kk wish list.
AND expect a huge signing to surprise the hole world.
IN KING KENNY WE TRUST keep the faith fans

contradicting yourself? suprise the whole world when we bid many times for one player?

Liverpool set to offer £13mil for Alexander Kolorov of man city. Kolorov said to be extremely unhappy with the signing of Gael Clichy and welcomes an approach from premier league and La Liga teams. Bojan and Jeffren Suarez both holding out for moves to premiership sides, I expect bids for at least one of these two players in the coming weeks. Scott Dann is doing a "Charlie Adam" and holding out for a firm offer to be accepted by Birmingham from Liverpool. There is a £3mil difference in the clubs valuations at the moment.
