This is getting ridiculous now!
Sevilla sporting director Monchi has played down speculation that Alberto Moreno is all but a Liverpool player and revealed he expects the left-back to be in action for Savilla in the UEFA Super Cup.
"There is a club that do or have wanted him, but today we think that he will stay at Sevilla and play in the final in Cardiff", he concluded.

They want him for the super cup but we can have him after that.

Surely, this now surpasses the Mkhitaryan saga from last summer as the most long running and boring saga?
I don't even care if the guy signs now, that is how boring it has gotten.

It's really odd to me, the Echo hear directly from the club and have said twice in two days that the deal is close to being completed, only thing left is to sort out how the 16m is going to be payed.
We really need this done ASAP.

Super cup is next Tuesday so perhaps not that much of a delay if that's what the Sevilla guy means.
Apologies for potentially daft question, but I assume participation in super cup has no impact on eligibility for Champions League?

Super cup is seen as a friendly

Someone asked this the other day I think, and apparently he won't be cup tied
Agree1

Super Cup is a friendly in the mold of the Champions Cup, which we would have received a large fee for winning. Supposedly, Super Cup has enough of a prize involved that Sevilla would want to play Moreno in that game on the off chance that, you know, he gives them the upperhand on Madrid. There have been rumors to the effect that he will be coming after the contest, though I don't know how true any of that is.

Don't know if Sevilla are just playing games over this transfer, but if Moreno plays for them in the super cup and we sign him, would that mean he would be cup tied for us in the Champions League? Cheers

No it is a friendly cup.

Friendly Cup? Really thought this was a little prestigious?

As far as I'm aware the Supercup counts as a friendly and therefore does not result in him being cup tied in the CL, can Ed002 confirm this?
Agree0
Disagree0
{Ed002's Note - None of the CL ties, EL ties or friendly cups at this time would cup-tie anyone.}
Ed's Can a club not specificy a joining date as part of the contract i.e. after the Super Cup? and if that was the case would this not be sorted?
To everyone else I do not think this deal will happen.
ED's thanks for all the time and effort you puts into this important site.

{Ed002's Note - They could certainly agree to do that David.}
Of course they can specify a day to sell him? He's their player. The can choose not to sell him if they want.

Eds, is there any truth in these new Lavezzi rumours?
Seems quite old at 29 for us to be paying approx £18mil.

{Ed002's Note - Lavezzi is available - I am not aware of any bid from Liverpool.}

i don't think this will happen.
i think FSG will only pay this sort of money to younger players. they've been quite explicit about that. resale value or at least 5-6 years of action

Stoke city have met Liverpools valuation for oussama assaidi of £7 million pounds

Not a chance stoke would pay that kind of money for Assaidi.

Why would they do that when LFC have halved their valuation?

If only. He never got a chance and never will so be good to get back the money Rodgers spent on him when him wanted him so badly.

I would imagine more likely that they have agreed terms with him, but the price is lower.

I was under the impression that we had reduced our valuation to aid the completion of the deal and that the player himself would also have to reduce his wage demands.
Agree0
Disagree0
Why wouldn't they pay it? Assaidi was stokes best player in a poor team, do u think he had a fair chance at lpool? For some reason Rodgers dosent like him and it's not about talent. Pity for the lad because he wants a fair chance to play for the best and biggest club he will ever play for. But Hughes wants him bad for stoke
Agree1
Disagree0
IMH it's not about the valuation it was about wages and the player wanting to stay and get a fair chance to play at lpool, borini the same. Lpool is such a big club they don't want to go the pair of them
Agree1
Disagree0
Lpool put a £7 million price tag on him, who said they had halved it? They know stoke are desperate, maybe he will show us his talent when he plays against us because we never got to see him

2 Years. Liverpool have the option to make it permenant on a fee after one year.
Agree1

That is a strange one. In his interview he seemed to hint that he wants to stay 'for many years'.
Agree0

Read elsewhere we have the option to buy after the second year, Atletico have the option to pay a penalty and take the player back after 1 year. No idea if that's true or not though.
Agree0
Disagree0
Don't think its that strange, other than why AM would want to let him go if he is so good - maybe he always dreamed of the EPL?
Clearly Liverpool & Manquillo expect it to be a long term stay, but we have an option not to buy him if he doesn't perform.

Liverpool and Sevilla have held further positives talks, and Alberto Moreno's move to Anfield seems imminent, for a fee of around £16m.

I hope with Suso not included. Extremely upsetting to see him leave without being given a chance.

It seems imminenet for about a month now. Why does it take so much time? at the end of the day they have to agree a fee and the player's contract - how difficult can that be?
