Curtis Jones to be sold to villa for around 15 - 20 million.

Absolutely not.

06 Aug 2021 03:14:48
If Origi is valued at 20m and we sold Brewster for 23m, it's a joke that Curtis is 15-20m.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed0666's Note - I doubt Liverpool would sell Jones for 20 million but where living through a pandemic and transfer fees have taken a hit accordingly.

06 Aug 2021 04:53:25
Surely Klopp isn't stupid when he made it clear the youth is the future for when he leaves. Why would we sell our best youth player and keep the likes of Kieta and an aging Milner it makes zero sense especially nit for peanuts.

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Aug 2021 07:47:51
Pearce said only yesterday that CJ would be getting more game time this coming season, plus he is truly home grown so i just don't see that happening.

Agree1 Disagree0

06 Aug 2021 08:23:20
If there was any truth whatsoever about this it would be a very very bad sign. paper crap though so its grand.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - if i was liverpool i would bite their arm off..

06 Aug 2021 08:58:40
Curtis Jones seems like a lovely lad and he is a good player, but I don't see him as the future of Liverpool because I don't think he seems to have enough potential.

Agree3 Disagree0

06 Aug 2021 09:10:12
Under what circumstance do we need to sell Jones? I would believe we'd have a higher chance to sell Keita compared to Jones. I believe the lad did good last season when he was featured and he can get better if he has the right attitude to improve. On top of that we need all the home grown talent we can get to boost the squad. So, nah. I don't think we'd sell him, not in this transfer window at least.

Agree2 Disagree0

06 Aug 2021 08:35:20
Just paper rumours but i thought it'd gain some traction. Baloney if you ask me.

Agree1 Disagree0

06 Aug 2021 09:41:13
Selling Jones to sign Messi on loan for a month!

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Aug 2021 09:24:33
Really Ed025?, says a lot really. Top talent this lad will be in the England squad or pushing for it by the next world cup.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - i have seen it all before JH, young lad gets his chance and does well, then his head becomes bigger than birkenhead and all the supporters big him up and the pundits hail him as the second coming, next thing you know he has a bad run of games and becomes the fans whipping boy, bounemouth then come in for him with a bid of £12m and off he jolly well goes to football obscurity and a after a spell in the priory ends up at accrington mate..

06 Aug 2021 10:44:55
"Lad gets his chance and does well". that's the only bit of fact from your comment, the rest is personal opinion and hope😆. the kid is streets ahead of most players his age and just needs time and patience.

Agree2 Disagree0

06 Aug 2021 10:48:51
Enough about Ross Barkley though Ed, Jones has Klopp to keep him in perspective.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - ross is just one of many flash, what makes you think curtis will be any different mate?, i have seen nothing outstanding about him so far and as much as i like to see young players come through there are a hell of a lot of pitfalls, they are very highly paid and find women and other recreational temptations very easy to come by and only the mentally strong and dedicated survive..

06 Aug 2021 11:29:31
Not every player needs to be outstanding though Ed to make a top 4 team - Take Hendo as a great example. Brutally I don't think he's world class, but he works his arsenal off and his leadership on and off the pitch is invaluable.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - your right gandalf, but supporters tend to build these young guys up only to knock them down as soon as they have a loss of form, all im saying is lets see how things pan out before we start hailing them as future internationals or potentially world class mate, its too much pressure..

06 Aug 2021 14:00:19
Ed025 Completely agree mucker, and Liverpool have had their fair share that fell by the wayside.
Jones is clearly doing something right or he wouldn't be in the squad, never mind getting chances in the first team. That alone suggests his feet are on the ground as Klopp doesn't accept primadonnas.
That's why Klopp let Super Mario walk on a free rather than have him anywhere near a squad he was trying to turn into champions.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - i dont question klopps judgement flash, but i have seen quite a few lads at everton who have been potential superstars only for them to fall by the wayside mate, they can get involved with the wrong crowd that the trappings of wealth and notoriety bring, lets hope curtis stays on the straight and narrow mate..

06 Aug 2021 14:15:52
How can ye see how things pan out when ye'd "bite a clubs hand off"at the sight of a first derisory offer?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - is £20m derisory for a young guy who has a lot to prove and only had a handful of first team appearances JH?, i take it the wife controls the finances in your household mate.. :)

06 Aug 2021 16:25:28
And yours mustn't allow ye much "pocket money"a week if your over the moon with pennies. 😆.

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Aug 2021 16:57:17
Anyone who watched Jones coming through knows he's very talented. He's done well when given the chance. Remember Rio saying last season, he was at England u21s training. And asked the players and coaches, who had surprised them and caught their eye. And he said something like. Almost everyone of them said Curtis Jones. He's been asked to play deeper in the 1st team after being a wide forward in the u23s. So obviously adjusting and learning that role also.

Agree1 Disagree0

07 Aug 2021 00:01:28
Jones will make it with us and he will be an important member of the squad again this season.

He already did very well last season and then his form dipped but he's only a young lad, he will bounce back and be a very good option for us again, imo.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed0666's Note - only an idiot would right the kid off. Besides why would we get rid of a great young HG player?

07 Aug 2021 00:29:52
@Ed0666, yep totally agree and the rumour has to be nonsense. Every player has their price of course but nobody would offer what we would want to sell Curtis Jones now - we would be mad to get rid, I think it's a load of nonsense anyway.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed0666's Note - I’m sure if someone came in with 30 million we’d consider it as you say every one has their price but I think Jones will be a Liverpool player for a long long time mate.

05 Aug 2021 21:03:16
I believe Messi wants to come to Liverpool, but Jurgen says he doesn't track back so no can do.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - hes looking at flats in norris green as we speak..

05 Aug 2021 21:16:13
Ed just a quick one, do you think this statement is a bit of gamesmanship by Barcelona to try and change the rules laws etc in la liga as they could lose arguably the best players in the world to another league and the revenue he bring to the league?

Or do you think that's it its done he's leaving?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - I have explained this on the appropriate pages.}

06 Aug 2021 07:49:17
Would probably be the best thing for Barca, he brings in revenue no doubt but his salary must have been crippling Barcelona the last few years.

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Aug 2021 08:25:12
Salah to be sold to make space for Messi.

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Aug 2021 11:23:43
Seriously fuser, Messi is only coming in as a Shaq replacment do no need to sell Salah.

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Aug 2021 14:41:19
Hi Eds, I'm reading a lot regards Matip being involved in swap deals. Can we then assume Phillips is going to be 4th choice defender. I think I'm asking more in hope than expectation. Thanks.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of any swap involving Matip. It has seemed strange to me that Liverpool were looking to sell NP and keep JM. Perhaps that position has changed?}

05 Aug 2021 15:16:38
total guess work but maybe the club have decided to keep Np being a home grown player and free up a non home grown slot by shipping out matip.

Agree2 Disagree0

05 Aug 2021 15:27:22
Finally some sense prevails. Considering last season it should be philips who starts the season with vvd and then its up to him. If he performs well then gomez is backup and konate rotates with vvd.

Agree1 Disagree0

05 Aug 2021 15:59:08
Apart from the fact he just doesn't have the mobility to suit our system. He will not be starting first choice at the beginning of the season neither will VVD in fairness. First game more than likely matip and konate as it stands I would guess.

Agree8 Disagree0

05 Aug 2021 16:01:30
Konate rotates with VVD 🙄 This Akira has to be a blag account.

Agree7 Disagree0

05 Aug 2021 16:13:03
Phillips starting ahead of Gomez and Konate? Stay off the recreational substances.

Agree6 Disagree0

05 Aug 2021 16:17:46
Matip is 3 times the player Nat is and suits our system . Nat stepped up and will earn himself a starting berth and decent wage elsewhere.

Agree7 Disagree0

05 Aug 2021 16:29:57
Ed002 as you have stated about are financial situation I think Phillips would be sold as there will be takers for him. I think Matip is a very good defender and if he did not have his injury problems there would be loads of clubs happy to have him but the most league games he has played for us in a season was 29 in his first season and over the last 2 season his only played 19 league games. So at 29 I can’t see to many clubs wanting him especially with the wages he will be on after we picked him up out of contract.

Agree1 Disagree0

05 Aug 2021 16:38:48
I understand that Matip has had an especially bad injury record during the past 3 years. But to compare Phillips’ skills to Matip is crazy… Matip is world class. No comparison IMO.

Agree4 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - good player power, but world class?...hmmmm..

05 Aug 2021 16:42:13
Joel matip is miles better than Phillips. Maybe that’s why their trying to sell him also maybe the club realise Phillips stock will never be higher than it is currently and might like to add 1 of them belter sell on clauses in for good measure.

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Aug 2021 16:45:03
Perhaps Matip realised he's likely be Fourth choice defender and he wants to be a starter, that coupled with what Wyred said can all make sense. 🤞😃.

Agree1 Disagree0

05 Aug 2021 17:39:30
I knew liverpool fans were bonkers.
Drooling for Keeping a 29yo on 100k a week for being mostly injured over a 24 year old home grown, excellent talent player who delivered when it mattered.
Also calling matip world class just shows red tinted frame of mind of the highest levels. Lad can't play 10 games w. o getting injured.
I mean i don't even have to try to irk you guys.

Agree7 Disagree0

05 Aug 2021 17:51:01
I don’t know why people are so desperate for signings. Personally I’m pretty happy with the squad we have.

Agree3 Disagree0

05 Aug 2021 18:00:13
I know it's juvenile, but there is no sentence containing Matip that doesn't make me snigger.

Agree3 Disagree0

05 Aug 2021 18:07:36
Feel like Matip is some mythical being, yeah he's alright but when was he world class? mad.

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Aug 2021 18:34:23
Matip may be 3 times more superior as a footballer than Phillips but he’s about 300 times more injury prone and made out of crisps. No point being a back up if you’re not reliable.

Agree3 Disagree0

05 Aug 2021 18:57:40
@akira have you watched many games involving Joel Matip? Judging from your uninformed comment I'd wager you probably haven't. If you had, you'd know that Matip is our second best defender and statistically up there with some of the best defenders to have played in the premier league. Presently, Nat Phillips is not anywhere near his level.

Agree5 Disagree0

05 Aug 2021 19:04:20
Stats mean nothing if you are only available 20 games a season.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed0666's Note - well technically they are if you’ve played 20 games

05 Aug 2021 19:42:34
Tell the big German fella that wants him at the club then Akira instead of telling us.

Agree2 Disagree0

05 Aug 2021 20:22:20
I remember watching Stuart Pearce play for England when his head was bleeding and it was probably the most passionate I've seen anyone play football. It was a real win or die attitude. I felt the exact same thing from Phillips last season. Matip may be better at the moment but Phillips will get better and if he plays with that passion that's worth an extra 20 skill points all day long.

Agree1 Disagree0

05 Aug 2021 20:26:37
Surprised to see so many against this idea. I'm with VVVD on this - it doesn't matter that Matip is a lot better, he is hardly ever available.

Nat is good enough to be 4th choice. HG quotas and wages and age are all in his favour as well.

Agree1 Disagree0

05 Aug 2021 21:09:27
I'll take Phillips over Matip as the 4th choice CB all day, if you're that far down the pecking order, you need to be available most of the time, you can't say that for Matip. Availability, age and money all pluses for Nat, hate to see a decent player leave but it makes good business sense to me if it's true.

Agree1 Disagree0

05 Aug 2021 21:39:43
Matip, from multiple accounts, is great in the dressing room and valuable for team chemistry. This is why he is probably staying. The chemistry of this team may well bring more trophies.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - let him go and sign bradley walsh then, im sure he would be a hoot in the dressing room..

05 Aug 2021 23:22:59
To the OP, where were you reading this? Who is it we are supposed to be swapping him for?

From what he’s actually said in what I generally assume to be the real world (as opposed to social media world where a considerable number of people seem to hear strange voices in their heads, which they then seem to accept as fact) Herr Klopp is a big fan of Matip both as a player and because of his positive influence on the squad both on and off the pitch.

It seems a teensy weensy bit odd that he would be looking to get rid of Matip and keep Phillips when - if everybody is available Phillips wouldn’t get a spot on the bench.

I think Phillips is a good, solid old school defender but Her Klopp doesn’t coach his teams to play old school football.

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Aug 2021 07:16:04
Sorry Wuger what swap deals are you referring to with Matip?

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Aug 2021 09:00:28
Since when was Gomez above Matip in the pecking order?

Agree1 Disagree0

05 Aug 2021 12:28:19
Liverpool are adamant they want around £12.75m (€15m) to sell Xherdan Shaqiri this summer.

Via Sky - so no freebie.

Believable5 Unbelievable0

05 Aug 2021 14:07:15
Well that's that. Shaq sticks around for his standard 10 appearances a season. Another excuse for the club not to spend on new players.
Can't we just move these players on? At least for the players' sake who just want to play week in week out?

Agree1 Disagree0

05 Aug 2021 14:26:31
Scores a winner against a big four rival in the process? Makes it worth keeping him for a year?

Don’t write the lad off just yet. If fit (big big if) he can be a match winner off the bench.

Red Sandman.

Agree5 Disagree0

05 Aug 2021 14:38:51
Indian buzzer, are you ever positive about anything? Shaq had a good euro's and is EASILY worth 13m.

Agree8 Disagree0

05 Aug 2021 14:54:46
He's worth whatever a club is willing to pay for him Spaceman.

Agree2 Disagree0

05 Aug 2021 14:59:08
In today’s market shaq is easily worth £10-15mill, he’s still 29 years old and clearly still a valuable player, if he’s playing regularly.

Agree3 Disagree0

05 Aug 2021 15:22:11
Even if we sell Shaq why would we replace him, just out Harvey Elliott in that position. We did not rely on Shaq last season. It is like a replacing a broken car in your driveway with a new one when it finally gets towed.

What is the fascination with new players, the club is spending the money on tying down the players we have. Every club is trying to find players of that quality we have. Do we really desperately need a Gini replacement we could move Jones in that position. We currently have Keita, Thiago, Henderson, Fabinho, Jones for three positions.

Some supporters are like little kids who just want new toys even though they don't play with the ones they have.

Agree7 Disagree0

05 Aug 2021 18:46:27
Harry, whereas I agree that Shaqiri doesn’t need replacing, Elliot is more than capable of taking that spot with his ability and enthusiasm, I don’t think any of our midfield options are capable or doing what Wijnaldum did at his best. Keita is too lazy, inept, weak and injury prone, Jones isn’t tactically switched on and doesn’t react to situations quickly enough yet (he’s got ability, but work is needed to get to the top), Milner’s legs have gone and at 36 he’s not getting any better, Ox is too injury prone to be relied upon, Thiago and Henderson also have a tendency to miss a lot of games through injury and we know how poor our midfield is if both of Henderson and Fabinho aren't available.

We do need to sign a central midfielder, but that’s about all.

Agree1 Disagree0

05 Aug 2021 23:24:41
Kman92, how long has Shaq been 29 for?

Agree1 Disagree0

05 Aug 2021 10:05:29
Origi or Taki now of interest to Southampton?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

05 Aug 2021 10:48:03
Origi would be a good player for them. Not sure Taki could lead the line like Ings did though.

Agree2 Disagree0

05 Aug 2021 11:36:43
Maybe it’s time for Southampton to take some players back from LFC in a double swoop for Taki and Origi?

Agree3 Disagree0

05 Aug 2021 11:41:55
Rumours are Tammy A is there target.

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Aug 2021 12:07:49
@Stenova Tammy will be sold abroad - Atalanta are favourites at the moment but it depends on a cascade of sales.

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Aug 2021 13:11:53
@Reynard can't see it happening as Ralph suggested he'd try get a couple of players in with the cash.

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Aug 2021 14:05:34
@Stenova they're meeting soon and if Chelsea manages to get Lukaku then I imagine the cascade will take place. Ralph can say whatever he wants but Chelsea expects in the range of £35m for TA. Southampton could do worse than get both Taki and Div from us for around the combined £30m. Just my opinion.
