Morning Ed's

Rumours in the press today are saying Thiago could well stay at Bayern, if that was to be the case and Gini is sold, does Klopp or the scouts have other options that they could move for.

{Ed002's Note - If that were the case I would expect Grujic to stay.}

if Gini goes and we don't sign Thiago we'll have to struggle through the season with the 8 midfielders we have in the first team! outrageous.

but seriously, we are well covered in numbers anyway. I get the point about style, quality etc. can't see how having an over-stocked is that helpful for us too.

Could be because we aren't willing to pay a fee for someone who would be available for free next summer and Thiago is willing to wait?

A midfield of Thiago, Henderson/ Keita and Fabinho retains the title for me,

The rumours about Gini leaving for Barcelona and Thiago arriving really is dragging on now. Anyone think if it was going to happen then It would of done by now with the season starting in a weeks time.

If we don’t have the finances forThiago then I’m not sure why Klopp approached him in the first place.

If Grujic is staying then we best sort his WP out quick.

Do you think we will be able to get a WP for Grujic if he was to stay.

{Ed002's Note - A case will need to be made and probably an apology given, so yes.}

tbh I'd love to see Grujic be given a chance to stay with the first team.

Of course Thiago said "he would be happy to stay". He has no option but to say something like that, when he's waiting for something to happen with any of the teams considering him to join. He's done his preliminary work in making it known which teams he's ready to join, now he has to sit tight and play the waiting game. If you accept that Liverpool is his preferred team (anyone remember how Werner kept saying he wanted to join Liverpool but ended up elsewhere? ), then the longer Liverpool take time to move for him, the closer he'll get closer to joining another team. But he has to keep all his options open. And that means staying another year at Bayern and getting that big signing on fee next summer. You never know.

Everyone here knows by now i am Thiago's agent, i mean errr, biggest fan 👀

However i'd be reasonably happy if Keita and Grujic were given the opportunity to compete to replace Wijnaldum. Rumour is Grujic really wants to succeed at Liverpool which is an admirable stance from him and shows the right attitude.

I don’t think it’d be a bad idea to give grujic until January and if it’s not working out by then go back after someone like Thiago if he was still available.

Damn these pesky transfers that take longer than 20 minutes.

Worst case scenario Gini leaves and Thiago doesn’t come in. That weakens us massively in my opinion, he’s an underrated player is Wijnaldum. Top top class.

Not according to some of the "experts" on here he's not LiverpoolFC8.

I can’t see Liverpool letting Gini go without a replacement lined up like Thiago. Gini player more minutes than anyone else in the squad last season bar Firmino, and while I rate Grujic we can’t afford to lose Gini’s experience in the toughest and biggest matches.

I agree Gini is very important, but Virgil played the most minutes last season, followed by Robbo, Salah, Trent, Bobby, Sadio THEN Gini. Still most the midfield, but just wanted to correct that stat.

I actually think Grujic wouldn’t be a bad option i feel like he deserved a shot - is younger and is well thought of. Hendo Milner fabinho all there for a calmer head and experience, and Grujic and Keita offer a little more going forward. If gini does want to leave, thank him for the memories and move forward.

If Thiago isn't coming this season, surely it would make sense to just let Gini run his contract down.

In that scenario, next season Gini leaves of a free, Thiago joins on a free.
