Hello eds, have Liverpool show any interest in the midfielder rodrigo de Paul? He is argentine, paper talk has us linked with him.

Thanks.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - He would be an excellent addition who nearly joined Leeds last summer and there is plenary of interest from elsewhere - notably PSG who have held discussions over a move. I am not aware of any approach by Liverpool.}

Wow seems like Ed002 rates him highly. I think we should be looking at him. Would his price be difficult for us ed?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Rodrigo De Paul (CM) Leeds remain very keen but well short of Udinese's €40M asking price. Inter have spoken with Udinese but will want them to accept at least one player as part of the transaction - or they will possibly turn to Wijnaldum. The player wants to move to Inter but Milan will offer Jens Petter Hauge as a replacement for Manchetser City loanee Jayden Braaf and cash for Rodrigo de Paul and that might be enough to secure the transfer. Juventus have enquired after De Paul as an alternate solution if they are unable to sign their primary target but it has gone no further than that and it looks like they won't be needing him. Sevilla have shown an interest and can be discounted. PSG may offer the full asking price in cash. I am not aware of any approach from Liverpool to Udinese.

Good morning ed002. Do Dortmund want to sign Musialowski? I'd hope we would prefer a loan or at least a buyback clause.

Would this be part of or separate to Sancho negotiations?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of any approach by Borussia Dortmund to Liverpool for the kid, who has only been at the club for 6 months. There had been prior interest of a different German club but they would have moved on. There are no "Sancho negotiations" between the clubs.}

Only way Sancho happens is if Salah or Mane leaves and the thought of that is worrying. The goal contributions of those 2 over the last 4 seasons is very good and I don’t see Sancho scoring 20+ goals on the league. Anyone else have the same worries?

I think given Mane’s age and dip over the last year it would be logical to move him on, but I can’t see us going for Sancho to replace him as Jota is already here, I suspect we’d be looking more at a forward to play in the middle.

Neither Salah or Mane were as prolific before they played for us. Its Klopps team and system that allows players more opportunities. Im sure Sancho, if he came, would double his annual tally.

IDreamofGini, actually Salah was prolific before he joined us, as was Mane (he got double figures two seasons running for Southampton) . In fact Salah was second only to Dybala in Serie A before he joined us.

Sancho on the right to let Salah play central makes perfect sense to me, our best scorer is Salah so needs to be in the main position to finish, certainly if means Firmino is out the centre too.

Salah, finish?! God love him but a finisher he isn't unfortunately.

I don’t think Sancho gets 10 league goals never mind 20.

Dybala has never been the highest scorer in Serie A and Salah was never second.
Salah's scored more goals in his first season at Liverpool than in two seasons at Roma.

Just to throw in some facts on Mane and Salah before they joined us (this includes goals from all competitions) .

Mane got 25 goals in 75 games for Saints (0.33), for us he has 94 goals in 213 games (0.44) and before this season (when his goal return has been quite poor) he had 81 goals in 170 games (0.48).

Salah had 34 goals in 83 games in Serie A (Fiorentina on loan and then Roma) for a goals per game of 0.41 and for us he has 123 goals in 198 games for a goals per game of 0.62.

So, its quite clear that both Mane's and Salah's goal ration improved markedly at Liverpool compared with their previous clubs.

Whether that holds for Sancho or not is yet to be seen but, for those looking for positives, Sancho would be a lot younger (21) than Mane (24) or Salah (25) were when they joined us, so you could argue that with more Klopp coaching he may adjust to our system even better.

Salah and mane both came to a team where their service dramatically improved. Sancho would not be coming to a team where he is getting substantially better service. Unless it would be part of a system change, he would be a gamble at best to replace the goals of salah or mane.

Sadio averages 14 league goals a season over his 5 years with us. Would be fairly confident Sancho could match that. Salah on the other hand is unsellable.

I feel that mane and firmino have to be sold to fund player arrivals. I think sancho would be a great signing. Personally for me, if we sell those two, as well as some of the fringe players, then we get a creative/ goalscoring midfielder, a proper out and out striker, and pacey wideman to replace mane. I would also say we need a CB but i don’t think we’ll have enough money, so will have to rely on those players coming back from injury next season.
My biggest concern regardless of who we sell or buy is being left behind by the top 4 clubs like city, utd, Chelsea etc, who are already rumoured to be looking at bringing in some top players.
