Guys I think by homeless ed002 means having to crash at the ritz whilst the contractors re-marble the staircase in his Chelsea penthouse.

I you ever find yourself in Southern Taiwan (Ed002, any of the other Ed's or any posters) there is a spare room you'd be welcome to use.

Hi Ed002,
is it possible in your opinion that L. Karius will be no 1 for next season or will J. Klopp look for new no 1 goalkeeper whatever happens? I don't think Karius was given a real chance since his arrival and I think he's got the potential to be great. Maybe not many really remember how difficult it was for de Gea at the start. thanks.

{Ed002's Note - I expect Liverpool to buy a GK. We already know that the fans has upset Karius once and he will be aware that any dropping of the ball will see that abuse return.}

Fickle fans let's give the lad a chance.

Unfortunately what Ed002 has said about some of the fan's is correct. One bad game and they will be on his back, sad but true I'm afraid.

Hopefully the new goalkeeper is to replace Migs and not Karius.

Karius has shown a lot of character and aside from the fact that we’ve improved statistically, it is obvious that the defenders trust him more and vice versa. His decision making looks a lot better and he’s looking like the keeper he was in Germany. Ed, I have to say that Karius had worked hard, been patient for his chance, he didn’t whinge or complain, he just got on with it, and when his chance came, he’s taken it, obviously with both hands 😜. He’s doing the basics well, he’s looking calm and assured while pulling off the odd top notch save while he’s at it.

Personally I think an experienced goalkeeper coming in this summer to replace Mignolet would be best.

Financiallly it makes sense to spend the money elsewhere if we have a capable player already (Karius is showing good signs and should be given until the end of the season to prove himself) .

In that regard a player like Navas or of similar experience to be number 2 would be a good singing in my view.

{Ed001's Note - Mignolet wants to go if he is not first choice.}

04 Mar 2018 17:51:18
Navas won’t want to come in as number 2, not withstanding the fact that he’s worse than Mignolet,

Personally I think the fans are right to get on a player's back if he's not performing. It's a results driven business.

Personally, I'd like to see Ward as the #2 to Karius next year.

I would love to see Karius develop into a De Gea, in the sense that he was given a chance after early mistakes. But I do believe that he hasn’t been put under huge amounts of pressure yet and the leadership at the back VVD brings has been a positive impact. Time will tell and I back the way Karius has stepped up his game recently.

I may be in the minority here, I don't know, but I think Karius has massive potential. He seems to get better and his confidence seems stronger with each outing.

Stone. yes maybe if a player is consistently not pulling his weight. Not in the case of keepers who might have 10, 15, even 20 incident free games then make one mistake leading to a goal and are ripped apart and put down by the press and fans and all of a sudden terrible players.

Especially as every keeper makes mistakes but we personally don't see these in the spotlight as much.

Shoot my if i'm wrong and this is just an opinion, but is the goalkeeping position improving becasue VVD has come in, barking orders and uplifting/ scaring/ giving confidence to the goalkeeper?

Agree12 Disagree0

Think its a combination of them both jammin probably why klopp waited till vvd arrived to slot karius in give him the best chance to make the position his.

Ya mignolet I'd right to go if he isn't first choice. It will ruin his blossoming international career.

I know VVD has been vocal and certainly given us much more reliability, especially when dealing with aerial threats, but I do think Karius has played a big part in our defences upturn as well. Karius is reliable, vocal (though he could certainly be more so), he communicates well with his defenders, has good distribution and is predictable in terms of what he is going to do - this helps settle defenders which in turn leads to consistency in performance and a reduction in errors.
I think VVD and Karius have contributed and this has meant the whole back line has looked more settled - Lovren has looked much, much better with VVD next to him and Karius behind him too. The only question marks in my mind are over Matip who still looks away with the fairies every time I see him play - if I were Klopp I'd stick with Lovren/ VVD/ TAA/ Robertson until the end of the season and give Gomez, as opposed to Matip, some run outs at centre back.
