The next AFCON is scheduled for 9th January to 6th Feb 2021, so we will have a month without Mané and Salah. Failing to prepare is preparing to fail.

The AFCON is scheduled for pretty much the whole of January 21 and the first week of February 21, given that it’s unlikely that there’ll be any form of winter break we are going to be without our main outlet for goals for possibly 6 to 7 games, or which 4 or 5 will be league games, not bringing in a suitable reinforcement is going to harm our chances of retaining the premier league massively.

Jay Liverpool didn’t put in an offer and decided not to buy him leaving Chelsea the chance. His preference was us. We are looking at better value players due to financial climate. Enjoy us winning the title shortly. The summer is long so let’s see who comes in.

I didn't like it not coz of the player but Klopp has been tapping players nd leaving them for dry. that's really bad. werner got lucky that chelsea were interested in him. otherwise might have ended up like fekir 2.0.

To the Eds

Regarding Timo Werner and Liverpool transfer targets.

Of all the available players of that calibre who we have been linked with (Werner, Harvertz, Sancho, Dembele et al) surely Werner was the 'cheapest' of the lot? Is it a case of we dont't have the funds, Liverpool did not see the value at the price quoted or prioritizing a different position?

What does it mean for transfers this window? Will we only sign someone if one of Mane, Firmino and Salah 3 leave? I appreciate liverpool don't have the same resources as others, but i would expect them to look to improve the team and not stagnate on glory of recent success.

Liverpool have not gone about trying to sign Werner in an appropriate manner - perhaps that is something they could still chase down as the player’s head has been turned. There is no interest from Liverpool in Sancho and I can’t see Liverpool being able to afford Havertz without significant sales. I have explained of the interest in Dembele who would be cheaper and perhaps some sort of loan to buy might work. I have explained the financial situation repeatedly.}

Just had a quick look at dembele on transfermarkt, seems he was relatively injury free until his move to barca, since then his hamstrings have been pinging. If its a loan with an option I guess it could work as he certainly has talent but you would think Barcelona would want a sale or at least a guarentee of a sale at the end of a loan as he is coming into the last 2 years of his deal. I do think we need cover accross the front 3 and with money being an issue you would think he would be a good solution also he really needs to resurrect his career at some point, still only 23.

I liked Werner for his ability to play striker or wide, but I guess salah can too, and mane, although mane is mor effective wide as he tracks well and beats men 1v1 consistently. Dembele plays right side, so if we were to add another forward player salah could play striker and bobby at 10. Salah wouldn’t drop deeper allowing the space for bobby.

Really can’t see the logic in going after a player like Dembele who is almost always injured and shown absolutely no capacity or will to be a professional, just because he might be cheap isn’t enough. He’ll be playing for a mid table french side in a few years time, his career is drifting into mediocrity and we shouldn’t look at a player like that.

Those type of hamstring injuries are the sort that finished Owen, it affects running ability and the ability to either sprint or run quickly over any distance, once the pace goes with a player like that you’ve got nothing left. Whoever buys him from Barcelona is getting a dud.

We missed out on Brandt a couple years ago now over demands for assured playing time and our backup signing ended up being some Egyptian lad named Mo Salah. Hopefully Klopp can show his quality in signing the right players again.

RBL have spoken with other sides including Inter Milan and Chelsea but have maintained the stance that the player has had his head turned. If an acceptable offer has been made by Chelsea then they will have permission to talk with the player. It is then down to the player to decide if he wants to make the move - and remember he has previously expressed a desire to join Bayern Munich, Manchester United and Liverpool. If Liverpool do wish to buy the player, and they should do the principled thing, then they need to make an acceptable offer for the player - but as I have explained money may well be an issue to Liverpool. So the ball is in the court of the player and Liverpool. But there remains some way to go.}

Timo Werner has apparently agreed to join Liverpool today with an announcement shortly to follow with some agent fees left to agree. Personal terms are sorted.

Source is to be questioned for sure it derives from Kuwait and people involved in the sponsorship elements of the deal with both player and club.

If they have managed to get him fair play, we clearly spoke to him then didn't want to stump up the cash. although I'd imagine the the virus situation is effecting what we could afford.
