Ed2 what's the latest regarding Liverpool's interest in Joel Matip, do you see us making an offer for him in January?

Believable0 Unbelievable7

{Ed002's Note - Nothing has changed except the position with Marseille. Schalke's Joel Matip has been watched by Sunderland, Marseille, Newcastle and Liverpool but will not be available in January with the club rather letting his contract run down as opposed to having their season disrupted - unless of course someone were to pay way over the odds. Schalke will try and get him to sign a new contract and have already rejected approaches from Liverpool and Sunderland to take him in January.

The lady from Marseille tells me that they have stepped back and will not be pursuing their interest any further at this time. Whilst I can't see him as being any more than a Toure replacement at Liverpool, Klopp is very keen and will look to the club negotiating a pre-contract agreement if they are not willing to pay way over the odds now. And if Liverpool are willing to pay well over the odds then there are better options available - one in particular. Again it may all come down to money.}

Subutic. Much better option.

Just don't think Klopp would go to his old club yet.

{Ed002's Note - Dortmund would have no problem selling Subotic to Liverpool.}

Hi ed, who is the one specific person who is a better option than Matip? (If we pay over the odds) Thanks.

Agree2 Disagree1

{Ed002's Note - Niklas Sule.}

You know too much Ed. Lol.

Matip is only 24 ed you say he will replace Toure is that because he is not very good as Toure is well past it and never plays.

Agree0 Disagree6

{Ed002's Note - I have no idea what you are talking about - it is nothing to do with age. Toure is leaving when his contract runs out in the summer. The club needs to replace him.}

04 Jan 2016 20:25:43
I'd be happy with matip to come in for toure, he is young for a centre back, has the physical attributes and klopp will get the best out of him, better option in my eyes as third choice.

what is the Sule's clubs stance on him, i was under the impression he wouldn't be available for a club like us?

Agree0 Disagree5

{Ed002's Note - When you say a club like Liverpool, what do you mean? The sustained interest is from Arsenal. I am expecting interest from Dortmund and others to soon be clear.}

04 Jan 2016 21:14:45
I haven't really heard much about Sule if I'm perfectly honest but the little I've heard about him seems to be very good, really strong in the air I belive. I understand ED002 you Said our interest would be best suited to him but do you know if we have any actual interest in him please?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - There should be but there isn't. Klipperty knows the player well but is working within constraints.}

04 Jan 2016 22:05:51
A club that ruins players careers ed.

Agree0 Disagree5

{Ed002's Note - I think that may be a little harsh Davey.}

Any chance of a player profile (if you have time) Eds?

I'm not too sure what numbers you have on these sites but these are the best sites for information (as I tell any football fan I speak to) - many many thanks!

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - I will add it to the to do list mate. Don't hold your breath though it could be a while. A long while!}

05 Jan 2016 07:53:27
Cheers Ed much appreciated!

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - no worries, just don't hold your breath, I have tons of things on that list.}

05 Jan 2016 19:53:18
I won't do Ed - I know it's going to be one of your busiest months on here with the 225 marque signings we will be making ;o)

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - it will be worse in the summer, we are going to try and beat the marquee record we set in January....}

06 Jan 2016 13:52:48
I think besides Niklas Sule, Daniele Rugani looks another possibility.

Eds, I understand a while ago the club were keeping tabs on the progress of Ben Garratt (Keeper) at Crewe. Based on the progress of Ward has that interest gone away for now?

P. S. I did do a search but nothing has come up lately.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Crewe hung on to Garrett after interest was shown by Aston Villa in the summer, whilst the interest of Spurs and Liverpool was seemingly dropped. Interestingly Everton have continued a watching brief but don't seem keen on making a move anytime soon.}

04 Jan 2016 15:50:49
Thanks for the reply - I hope he stays for now - Crewe need him.

Eds, I know you's have previously mentioned a possibility of Allen leaving in Jan. Chris Bascombe now stating this also.
What I'm wondering is would he be replaced from outside or would a youngster simply fill his slot? I understand Grujic is signing but being loaned out again so if Allen leaves we'd be a player light especially in the middle of this current injury worry.
Have we another midfielder in our sights?

Not really an Allen fan so can see why he needs to go.

Believable0 Unbelievable6

{Ed001's Note - surely you have answered your own question?}

04 Jan 2016 05:32:37
Rossiter and Brannagan can fill in for Allen till the end of the season. We also have Grujic joining in the summer, so Allen's already been replaced.

Thanks for all your help there, I really appreciate it.

Hi Eds, i'm just wondering with all of the talk about liverpool possibly looking at other options in goal to replace mignolet has anyone shown an interest in mignolet? My personal choice would be to sign another promising keeper such as butland and let them battle it out with ward for the number one spot.

Thanks.

Believable0 Unbelievable7

{Ed001's Note - not that I am aware of.}

04 Jan 2016 05:33:57
Signing Butland would p**s Ward off. I think Klopp's plan is to have Ward challenge Migs for the No.1 GK slot and eventually replace him.

Agree5 Disagree1

04 Jan 2016 09:14:09
I think Klopp will persevere with Mig, leave Ward on loan till the summer bring him back as number 2 for the new season then as soon as Migs messes up he's in or he may even start him.
