I don't understand, if we have approx 40mil to spend then the choices should be obvious. .

Suarez 18M
Elia 12M
Honda 10M

This would greatly increase our attacking power and make us into a feared squad one again. Then in the summer go on to sign:

M'vila 14M
Mertesacker 10M
Turan 12M
Coentrao 12M

This is 88M overall whih is a huge investment but all of the players above are world class and would surely deliver us a top 2 oe 3 finish!

We must go and sign young Mexican Omar Esparza and really try for bojan. Sunny of Valencia to bulk the midfield too. Omar Esparza is a wide left player. Has anyone else seen this guy. He is amazing.

Liverpool team after jan (hopefully):

-Reina-
Johnson-Mertesaker-Agger-Coentrao

-M'vila-
Turan-Gerrard-Elia/ Young

Torres-Adebayor

The above team combined with a new manager to inject motivation back into the squad should give us a top 4 finish at least. What do you think ed?

To the ED who said Sanchez will join Utd, your categorically incorrect as he is Anfield bound in this January window.

If from what is being reported is true then i can see these signings happening, marveiux 1.6m, elia 13m and suarez 18m.
to bring in any more would be counter productive in my opinion.
to bring in these 3 in jan and change to a 4 3 3, with elia torres and suarez leading the line you get the perfect blend, pace and trickery on the left, hard working quality goalscorer on the right, and a deadly finisher in the middle. lucas to play the holding position with gerrard and mereiles dictating play, wingback support from marveix and johnson who are both similar when going forward.
a complete squad overhaul will not happen in jan, and the building process will take time, this is the quickest and easiest way to change the dynamics from a boring defensive team into an attacking one.
in the summer m'villa should be looked at to replace lucas, and a top quality cb to replace the ageing carra to partner agger.
that first eleven is top draw, and would be top 4 quality for sure.
ed from reports this seems realistic, do you agree with any of it?

{Editor Note: Obviously everyone has their own opinions and different visions for what players they would like and what formation we should play. You've certainly put forward a good arguement for yours.}

Couldnt have said it better mate. Only we need M'Vila sooner to play the system IMO. But 99% my thinking.

Just heard that Hodgson will speak to Adeybayor after united game as he is interested in coming to anfield till end of season , in my point of view him and torres up front will be a very good partnership

{Editor Note: I'm the ed who wrote the Sanchez part and I'm not a Man Utd fan. Sanchez is a Man Utd fan, and they have been watching him. I can see him going to United - yes they have Valencia and Nani but Giggs nearing the end and I'm sure they'll want to beef up in that position among others. Plus, Sanchez can play as a striker or an attacking midfielder as can Nani and Valencia.}

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Just become he supports them doesn't mean he'll move. Valencia can't play as a striker but Nani can play there but why play him there? He's so much better on the wing. I've watched sanchez a lot and he's far better on the wing then as a striker. Only way I see Sanchez going to united is if you sell one of your better players (Rooney maybe). Also united don't have the cash. You haven't spend big in years. Also heard rumors that he's going to inter.

Lfc_ynwa

{Editor Note: I've said before I'm not the Man Utd ed. Well being a Man Utd fan suggest that his preference would be to join Man Utd don't you think? Regardless of whether Man Utd have Nani and Valencia, Sanchez is still very possible for them and they could most certainly fit him into their team.}

Hows this for a rumour:

NESV to spend 60m now in Jan (40m Aguerro, 20m Suarez) Woy told to play 4-3-3 with a front 3 of Suarez, Torres & Aguerro. Results improve, we have a run and finish 4th. Coentrao for 25m & M'vila for 15m are added in the summer and LFC canter to the league title next year. NESV's investment goes through the roof and 7-8 deadwood players are sold in the summer to recoup 50m of the 100m spent. Total investment 50m for PL winning team & happy fans.

I've said this before and I'll say it again, Liverpool should be in the market for Charlie Adam. After watching tonights game I cannot see any reason why we shouldn't get him. 6-8million. 25 years old. Sweet left foot. Passes like Alonso. Takes set pieces like Juninho. Grabs hold of games like Gerrard. Premiership experience.

When we came second in the league we had a fantastic midfield 3 who clicked:
Mascherano - Ball winner & simple passer.
Alonso - Playmaker.
Gerrard - Game winner.

Adam would get us close to this formula again: Meireles - Ball winner & simple passer.
Adam - Passer, playmaker, sweet left footer. Gerrard - Game winner.

Of course I'm not saying that he is better than Alonso or Mascherano, but for who is available in January & who is a realistic target, Charlie Adam can provide a lot of what LFC is missing.

Every great Liverpool team has a talented Scot too!

Considered by some to be a rich man's Ryan Babel, the Daily Mail says Liverpool seem keen to bring on Eljero Elia to replace his countryman on the wing.

Roy Hodgson has reportedly listed the 23-year on his list of targets this January, and securing the speedster would relieve some pressure up front where Fernando Torres is still searching for his best form.

Given the club's recent financial troubles, an agreement to bring the 5'9" Dutch international to Anfield may be a long shot, but the interest is definitely brewing.

In addition to Elia, Liverpool allegedly could take a look at Marseille's Taye Taiwo, Aston Villa's Ashley Young and Ajax's Luis Suárez, but acquiring all three would obviously be blockbuster signings commanding a fair share of finances.

Err, just a flipping second! Don't go slagging off RH for buying Poulsen and Konchesky, he was merely working for the same 2 fkng skinflints that Rafa had to put up with. And Meireles is not a RH signing, that deal was done way before RH arrived. Rafa and Roy can compare s***t signings financed by H&G one day.

We should buy Ken. Wages? A shilling a day and his s**t home in a can.

One more thing, please please let that fkng no-mark, characterless, sneaky knt, can't tackle-can't head-can't dribble, selfish, self-centred, self-obsessed, stupid, opportunistic, cash mad fkng clothes horse sign for spurs. Only John Terry is up there with the a******e, completely living the lie that they love their team and their country, what a fkng pair of t*****s

{Editor Note: Meireles was very much a Roy signing and was brought in very shortly after Mascherano left the club.}

When Editor's note admitted he was the man u Ed he said some time later that he thought Sanchez would move to united. Do you think Sanchez will move to united with them already having 2 world class wingers, they have more important positions to fill?

{Editor Note: I'm the ed who wrote the Sanchez part and I'm not a Man Utd fan. Sanchez is a Man Utd fan, and they have been watching him. Surely possible for us to get 1 or 2 of aguero, suarez, hazard, sanchez, pastore, oscar cardoza, lukaku, turan . .between now and the summer if we really pushed for it and had some ambition?! . .as an avid fan ive been left so frustrated over the years with us not being able 2 compete for the top top players due 2 lack of money, lack of ambition, lack of scouting knowledge etc. . forget your elia's, ashley youngs, marveaux's etc. . all average players, why not go all out for these top players? city, madrid an barca can't have them all, come on liverpool fc, show some ambition! !

Not a rumour just wishfull thinking, but our great club should go all out for Pato in the summer, fits the nesv bill perfectly young talented only going to improve strong fast and an eye for goal.

another thought despite his move in the summer but i reckon diego would be a good shout. also ninis is gunna be a great player.

A realistic outlook of where Liverpool are now and need to be.

we are very much in transition and need at least one full summer with roy in charge in order to fully get to grips with his approach.

Gks - No change needed, although we should be targeting Loach (Watford), Smithies (Huddersfield) if we want young english up and coming talent. However Reina is world class and has virtually played in every prem game for the last 3 years.
Brad Jones isn't the greatest but for £2M was about right.

Defence - RB- Glen Johnson - We have Englands right back who on his day is ashley cole like in an attacking sense and as we all no poor defensively. (Keep)
- Martin Kelly - He has the potential to have a bright future at Liverpool and I am really glad he has signed a new contract. Given game time and a Carragher tutoring he will be a great Lfc defender who will probably turn into a centre back (following carra). (Keep)
LB - Paul Konchesky - Hasnt had the best of starts but should be encouraged to go forward alot more. If only he was younger he would have been a good buy. (Sell or Keep)
- Fabio Aurelio - Injury prone, inconsistent and really slow. He has a better touch and pass than konchesky but cons outway the pros. (Sell)
CB - Carra - (Keep)
- Skrtel - (Keep)
- Agger - How we are considering getting rid of Agger is beyond me. What a player, good defender, can play as well. He is the best defender we have on the ball and should never be sold (Keep)
- Soto - Has been outstanding this season, on the slow and uncomposed side but against the stokes, blackburns of this world is ideal. However getting on a bit (Sell or Keep)

Midfield - Gerrard - Can I just say he has dragged us back from the dead for the last 5 years and now its hitting his body, he should be playing the killer balls now and letting two ball winning ankle biting cms do the leg work now. (Keep)
- Miereles - (Keep)
- Maxi (Keep)
- Cole (Keep)
- Lucas - I think Lucas is a good player, nothing more nothing less. He will evetually be sold to italy or spain altho for me he is a good squad player. (Sell or Keep).
- Poulsen - Slow, old and wasteful (Sell)
- Kuyt - Liverpools workaholic, always running working but should now be considered a sale asset. I hate to say that but with his age pushing 30 we should sell now (Regretably Sell)
- Spearing (Keep)
- Shelvey (Keep)

Forwards - Torres - Either we invest heavily in order to motivate nando or we will continue to see poor displays. Yes he has been injured, and yes he hasnt had a break for the last 3 years (prem, euro, prem, confed cup, prem, world cup) but he has to put more effort into games. (Keep)
- ngog - He has been brilliant in his work rate and team ethic, just needs roy to tell him he is a good player more often and the goals will come. (Keep)
- Babbel - considers himself a forward now. He has it all to be a great player pace, height, strength, just like ngog needs to be told it more often. (Sell or Keep)

What is needed to help us challenge for top four spot.

Gk - Loach (Watford) - Young and English
- Smithies (Huddersfield) - Young and English

Def - 1 strong Cetre back - Expensive Cahill (Bolton) or Shawcross (Stoke) - young and english, replace carra in long term.
- Cheap
Dann (Birmingham) - Young english, prem experience
Wheater (Boro) - young english, prem experience

We have absolutley no width and no young pacey wingers. Tottenham and villa have the best british options. Teams do not fear coming to anfiled no longer b-coz we have a slow, old squad that nobody fears.

Wingers - Ashley Young (Villa) - We should prioritise young as top target and beat the competition for his signature. He is proven quality. We should match any bid and try to offer more wages (except vs man city obv), he is english, young, prem experience. £15-30M.
- Matt Jarvis (Wolves) - He is young, english, quick and would provide an outlet with his pace and direct style, exactly the type of player we are lacking. £6-12M.
- Charles Nzogbia (Wigan) - Very quick, prem experience, young and would welcolme a move to us. He would provide arrogance as well as pace which would inject competition in the squad. £8-12M.
-Eljero Eia (HSV) - Very pacey, unpredictable and young. He would be a great signng on the wing and make teams fear coming (as would ne of the above). could potentially turn out like Babel tho but worth the risk. £8-12M.
- Mata (Valencia) - Only if we are going to be spending ridiculously big should we consider Mata. But definatley not before ashley young. £15-25M.

We have very slow centre midfielders who lack the mascherano bite. He had the desire, speed, motivation to run all day (Tevez-like). We need two players like mascherano so gerrard can play the killer passes without doing too much leg work, and so johnson and konchesky (Taiwo) can get forward and they can fill in at full back.

Ball winning workaholics - Mascherano - would love him back, all his attributes suit the prem lge, doesn't fit into barce system with busquets, but doubt he would return due to english lifestyle. (Highly Unlikely).
- Cattermole (Sunderland) - Although he does pick up bookings, he is the type we need the drive, hunger, motivation and aggression needed to win the ball back, to put the leg work in for gerrard. English, Young but wouldn't come cheap. £8-15M.
- Lass Diara (Real Madrid) - Has the aggression and motivation to win he ball back. Still young and has prem experience. Lots of interest and competition however. £8-12M.
- Gokhan Inler (Udinese) - We should be targeting Inler, aggressive, reaching his peak , a worthwhile risk. £8-12M.
- Reo Coker (Villa) - young, english, has that bite that we lack in the midefield engine room, won't come cheap now in houlliers first team plans. £6-8M.

Forwards - Suarez (Ajax) - Proven quality, great finisher, great work-rate. This is exactly the striker we need to do the leg work nando doesn't want to do. Lofty price tag however it would be worth it. £15-20M.
- Pazzini (Sampdoria) - great at heading the ball, proven goalscorer, a risk tho. £10-15M.
- Carroll (Newcastle) - not a cat in hells chance we getting him but what a player. £20M.
- Lacina Traore (Cluj) - Just for sheer height and something different, we miss a crouch and due to city and price of dzeko traore is much cheaper. £5-10M.

If the owners are serious about generating Liverpools financial income overseas then we should consider asian players and the three who would be most valuable to Liverpool are Lee (Bolton) who has prem experience and is a good player £8-12M. Honda (CSKA Moscow) Japanese playmaker who would boost sales and is a very good player £10-12M. There is also a player called Park Chung Yong who plays up front from Monaco who would be a good capture. £8-12M

Laslty future options with regards to squad players that are young (british/ foreign), and have a great deal of potential.
Boudebouz- RW, LW (Sochaux) (Algerian)
Marveaux - RW, LW (Rennes) (French)
Oxade- Chamberlain RW (Southampton) (English)
Wickam FWD (Ipswich) (English)

This is a very realistic outlook on where things are and where things need to go in order to improve the fortunes at Liverpool. If you look at Bale, Lennon at spurs they are the reason they are being feared two very fast, world class top quality wingers that frieghten other teams. Yes modric , vdv, defoe are quality but would not scare teams as much without the speed, workrate of the wide men.

We should try and emulate this as well as adding what i have mentioned above and that will provide Liverpool with young British talent, and an overall faster and more quality in the squad.

A reealistic outlook on Liverpool now and for the future!

Tim

Met him too he is a great great guy! Did you get a pic mate?

Got loads of pics, there was a couple of guys, one was his minder I think, real big guy. The other guy was doin the drivin. The big guy came down to the bar late on a couple of nights, but he didn't talk much. I seen Kenny with other 'Pool fans so there should be other guys with pics. I have to get mine developed, left my phone in the house and had to buy an instant camera in the lobby shop. Other 'pool fans were shouting 'Kenny for manager', and 'Roy Out', but he didn't look pleased at that.

Liverpool midfielder target Keisuke Honda is keen on a move to the club, claims the player's agent.

The Japanese international midfielder has been linked with a string of European clubs following an impressive World Cup for the Asian nation, with Liverpool boss Roy Hodgson one of those thought to be interested in the player.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is also thought to be keen on the player, although the latest developments would suggest that the Gunners are not expected to make a move for the player, leaving the door open for Liverpool.

The Emirates chief described the player as a star during the World Cup, leading to speculation that Arsenal would bid for the player in the summer.

A move never materialised however, and the interest of Arsenal appeared to dwindle despite reports that the player was keen to move to the Gunners.

Player representative Kees Ploegsma stoked the fire over a potential move, although denied a verbal agreement between player and club has already been made during an interview with Sport.co.uk.

"There is no truth in that rumour, " he explained with regards to the 'agreement'.

"There is constant speculation surrounding Liverpool, but the real situation is that there is only interest from them, and they have not made a firm offer."

"If he could move to a club like Liverpool it would be great, but the two clubs must come to an agreement first. The Premier League is a great competition which he would like to play in, " Ploegsma concluded.

Hodgson is thought to have money to spend following the arrival of NESV as the new owners on Merseyside, with a transfer war chest thought to be in the region of £35 million on offer to the Liverpool boss.

An attacking foil for Fernando Torres is thought to be the priority, but an attacking midfielder in the mould of Honda would also sit nicely as the former Fulham boss plots moves for 'five or six' players.

Honda is believed to be considering his future at CSKA Moscow with the club reportedly ready to cash in on the player, and Liverpool could test the water with a bid in the region of €8 million.

"Get Carragher his badges and get him in the management set up."

We all love Carra's passion but he is not manager material. Shouting and screaming at your team is hardly motivating. If your boss behaved in this way, you'd probably deck him. Jamie needs to realise that while some people respond to a good bollocking, others need coaxing and the arm around the shoulder approach. We're all different and need to be treated as such. Look at Shanks, Paisley, Kenny all passionate but also dignified. Souness was a screamer and a bully, we don't want that at Anfield. Even as an assistant, Carra becoming the manager's 'attack dog' would be the worse thing for him. I for one don't want to see Jamie go the way of Sammy Lee.
* * * * * *

The opinion is growing that Carra & Stevie need to get out of LFC so it can move forward. Apparently they make all the decisions. Interesting stuff.

Two wingers will join 100% true. Elia, Marveux and possibly young. 2 of 3 will join. along with an out and out striker. Dm is being looked at but not deemed to be an emergency with agger back now. Insua should be back from loan. Konchesky, Aqualani, poulson( as we are no longer in the carling cup) will all be gone.
Suarez is who we want, wolfswinkel is really liked (probable option). WOy wants C.cole, nobody else does, will be cheapest option but won't be coming as Woy is barely hanging on.
no midfielders a the 3 man rotation of lucus, meirelles and gerrard will work.

Hey ed i posted about 4 months ago that glen johnson was learning spanish and would leave in the summer i was the first to post this and alot of people laughed and have since the fall out with the d* * * *d of a manager everyone else has jumped on the band wagon. my point ed is this roy will not play glen at right mid because if he does well like bale the fans will go mad when he leaves in the summer. now from wot i understand he will be joining madrid but barca also very intrested now from wot i understand liverpool want benzimen in px now the very intresting bit if madrid can loan adebyour from city they will push to get glen in this window with benzimen being are big sighning. as for are right back we have kelly that will step in but i understand we will move for srna who i beleave contract ends soon i do have very good sourse who is a football agent but i carnt say name sorry. so wots your thoughts ed?

{Editor Note: Only you know how reliable your information was. It is clear that Johnson and Hodgson have had a bust up and Johnson wants to move abroad. No-one knows where. But I doubt Barcelona will want him if Dani Alves is there.}

glen johnson has never said he will be leaving or that he wants to leave, , he seems quite happy with playing for lfc from what i see on his twitter all the time

To the writer that said

Transfer Targets: (More or less possible)

REALLY GOOD SIGN | OK/ GOOD SIGN | BAD SIGN

Eden Hazard Ashley Young Adebayor
Eljero Elia Honda N`Zogbia
Javier Pastore Suarez Carlton Cole
Leighton Banes Marveaux Mertesacker
Mvila
Marko Marin
Lukaku

First of all, Hazard will not come unless we over pay him in salary because there is no incentive to come to 'Pool for him when Real Madrid, Arsenal and ManU are after him! Ashley Young and Ade are great signings if they happen. Ade scores and Ashley has great ball movement! Do you know anyone except Stevie that does that at 'Pool? NOPE!
Elia has had a poor season with only 1 goal and 1 assist. Doesn't look he's worth 13 million at all and don't know why we're wasting our time (check his highlights. mediocre/ above average. nothing to take us to the next level). .Now if all we got was Honda (as an attacking option) in the transfer window, I'd be content! And I could deal with N'Zogbia's attitude, because the top teams. Ars, Chel, ManU all have players with "attitude" and have done well. .Have you all every watched Paisley's men? THEY WERE BEASTS! and teams were affraid to play us! N'Zogbia is Prem Proven and plays hard more times than none!
Javier Pastore Suarez Carlton Cole will not come, because same as Hazard issue with Pastore and Suarez, and Carlton Cole is defo not LFC material.
Leighton Banes Marveaux Mertesacker: Baines is Everton material = NO, Marveaux will potentially be signed in the summer and Mertesacker is the other Defo sign we need (Honda and Mert a MUST)
Mvila : M'Villa looks fantastic
Marko Marin: Doesn't want to be at LFC
Lukaku: Drogba's his idol and Real is his dream. .soooooo no LFC!

We don't really need big money to buy because if we sell:
Aquilani 13m
Babel 8m
Konchesky 3m (we have Aurelio/ Mavinga/ Robo)
Agger 8m (We have Skrtel/ Carra/ Wilson/ Kelly/ Soto/ Ayala)
Poulsen 1m
Glen Johnson 15m (We have Kelly/ Carra)
Jovanovic 3m

That equals 51 million which is enough to fund Honda (13m), Mertesacker (10m), Young (15m) or N'Zogbia (7m), M'Villa (13m) which is 58 million in this transfer window!

SIM THE RED
(ed. Thats too many transfer's in one window, but do you agree or disag?)

{editor: you have named a lot of good players. All of which could help our team}

Just to put the current Elia stories to bed if we had agreed a deal to buy the lad he wouldn't have been playing in a friendly game today.

Hamburger SV: Rost (46. Drobny) - Rincón, Besic, Westermann (46. Demel), Aogo (46. Pressel) - Kacar (46. Jarolim), Zé Roberto (46. Tesche) - Elia (46. Jansen), Pitroipa (46. Choupo-Moting)- Guerrero (46. Torun), van Nistelrooy (46. Ben-Hatira)

Al-Wasl FC: Rasched - Alshaibah, Ismail, Salem (54. Masoud) , Ahmed, Ali Mahmoud, Ahmed (73. Abdulrahman), Ali (54. Basheer), Yeste (72. Darwish), Oliveira (64. Mubarak), Mohammed (64. Jassem)

Just to put the current Elia stories to bed if we had agreed a deal to buy the lad he wouldn't have been playing in a friendly game today.

Hamburger SV: Rost (46. Drobny) - Rincón, Besic, Westermann (46. Demel), Aogo (46. Pressel) - Kacar (46. Jarolim), Zé Roberto (46. Tesche) - Elia (46. Jansen), Pitroipa (46. Choupo-Moting)- Guerrero (46. Torun), van Nistelrooy (46. Ben-Hatira)

Al-Wasl FC: Rasched - Alshaibah, Ismail, Salem (54. Masoud) , Ahmed, Ali Mahmoud, Ahmed (73. Abdulrahman), Ali (54. Basheer), Yeste (72. Darwish), Oliveira (64. Mubarak), Mohammed (64. Jassem)

Tore: 1:0 Guerrero (08.), 2:0 van Nistelrooy (25./ FE), 2:1 Omar (29./ FE), 2:2 Jassem (69.), 3:2 Ben-Hatira (90.+4.)

MANAGER Villas Boas

GK Reina

RB Johnson
CB Shawcross £11m
CB Agger
LB Contreao £12m

CM Meireles
CM M'Villa £8m
FR Gerrard

RF Hulk £16m
CF Torres
LF Hazard £18

£70m investment over the next two transfer windows should allow a 1st 11 like above, playing a very attack minded, fast style of football. The above 11 should in theory have a shelf life of 3–4 seasons, before we need to spend big money £30–£40m again. Also should allow the youngsters to develop with top players and a young coach so they can grow into a style of football. Get Carragher his badges and get him in the management set up. Adding Paco back behind the scenes to continue his good work he started would be a good idea.

What you fink ed? If NESV made this sort of statement of intent. im sure shirt sales would also increase aswell as being confident on match attendences along with proposed pay per veiw revenue and all importantly, trophies. readers AGREE or DISAGREE ?

{editor: It would win over a lot of fans for sure. Don't see us spending £70million over 2 windows though}

not picking at anything you have said but you have asked for an opinion, now i could be way off the mark as ive never watched Elia play but have watched a couple of youtube compilations on the guy, yes hes fast, yes he does seem to go around ppl like they where yet another blade of grass but his final ball into the area is not as impressive. Again i could be wrong but from what ive seen this could be another bable. Would much rather see Grevinho.

Just seen on Skysports.com that we're looking at a loan deal for Adebayor. First thoughts? Good call for an experienced player, good for 6 months, then I noticed he's only 26! I thought he was 28/ 29! He seems to have been around forever! He could be a good strike partner for Torres, if it works out in 6 months they could forge a strong partnership for a few years to come, Hopefully in that time N'gog, Pacheco etc will be coming through more.

Anyway getting to my point.

Ed, should we expect more loans than permanent deals this January? As it's almost certain Roy won't be in charge by May are NESV going to look at players they can give back and spend their cash on players the new manager wants in the summer. Should we also expect a hand full of fringe player sales? bringing in 5-10mil in sales would cover the wages of loan signings (i'm guessing Adebayor must be on more than the £5.93ph minimum wage?)

{Editor Note: I personally don't think so. Roy Hodgson might not be here in the Summer but Comolli will and he has a say in every player we sign now. I don't know who will be sold this window, but no doubt the dead wood will be cleared out in the Summer.}

Hey ed i posted about 4 months ago that glen johnson was learning spanish and would leave in the summer i was the first to post this and alot of people laughed and have since the fall out with the d*******d of a manager everyone else has jumped on the band wagon. my point ed is this roy will not play glen at right mid because if he does well like bale the fans will go mad when he leaves in the summer. now from wot i understand he will be joining madrid but barca also very intrested now from wot i understand liverpool want benzimen in px now the very intresting bit if madrid can loan adebyour from city they will push to get glen in this window with benzimen being are big sighning. as for are right back we have kelly that will step in but i understand we will move for srna who i beleave contract ends soon i do have very good sourse who is a football agent but i carnt say name sorry. so wots your thoughts ed?

{Editor Note: Only you know how reliable your information was. It is clear that Johnson and Hodgson have had a bust up and Johnson wants to move abroad. No-one knows where. But I doubt Barcelona will want him if Dani Alves is there.}

Hey ed, heard anything about alexis Sanchez? there seems to be nothing on here, just wondering why we are not being linked, as with every other half decent winger around atm. he is at a (fairly) small club, udinese, would probably want to come to liverpool.

cheers, great site

{Editor Note: There has been plenty on here regarding Sanchez. He has recently stated his desire to move to England. However my fellow ed believes he is keen on a move to Man Utd, and could well end up there.}

Maybe the reason nesv are dragging their heals with hodgson and player transfers is because they are waiting for barca to win la liga so Madrid sack mourinho. Once this happens perhaps they will then show some commitment to our beloved club and appoint the special one and sanction some proper signings. Or am I being a bit naive.

Liverpool F.C, will sign a maximum of 4 players this window. The positions identified are: A CB/ LB, 2 wingers and a Striker. I believe by signing a maximum of 4 players, the character of the squad will not be affected as much, as there isn't alot of activity around the club. We are making our moves in the summer, and just adding for now. Thoughts ED?
Reality_Red

{Editor Note: No-one really knows how many will be signed. One week Roy says he wants about four or five, the next he says different. But I would expect two, three maximum personally. A winger, striker and possibly a defender. But I totally agree with the positions you mentioned, they need strengthening.}

Spoke to a benfica season tkt holder the other day about andre villas boas. .He said he seems to have a good understanding of the game but is no mourinho. .He said Porto have a barcelona style set up and have more money than others cos they are mainly a selling club and are able to fall back on the new crop of youth. .he said they have little competition at the moment in portugal. .and said "mickey mouse could manage them and do well" his words not mine. . I like this guy but it does make me wonder could he do another Mourinho and would it be a chance worth taking?

Ed your thoughts pls. .

Dave {ed's note - I don't know enough about Portugese football to dispute his comments, except that his comments about them being better because they sell their best players makes no sense. He does sound like he is a little bitter about them being better, but he could well be right about Boas.}

Danny Wilson might be going back to rangers on loan this month

Re the above:Cardiff City have targeted loan deals for Danny Wilson from Liverpool and Winston Reid from West Ham as manager Dave Jones steps up his search for centre-half recruits: Wilson has made three appearances for Roy Hodgson's team but is yet to make his Premier League debut while Reid has made only four appearances for the Hammers in his first campaign following a £4m move from Denmark.

It is believed Hodgson is reluctant to allow Wilson to go out on loan as he is needed to cover long-term absentee Jamie Carragher. Hodgson was also critical of Hull City for refusing to allow another rookie Anfield defender, Daniel Ayala, to return early from a loan spell at the KC Stadium.

To the one who said Elia is playing tonight, where?
I cannot see any game listed for tonight on their fixtures or on Sky Sports Score Centre?
Do you know if he has a game tonight Ed? {ed's note - Germany has a winter break, I don't think they play again until the weekend after next (14th or 15th I think it is).}

I checked Hamburger Morgenposten site again following the Eljia story ( I can speak German - honest ). Posted yesterday to confirm basis of story; but wasn't put on-site. Anyway, HSV play(ed) SC Al Wasl, an Arab team tonight in a friendly showing live on some German Digital Channel. Their next game is against Ajax on Saturday. Both games are friendlies during their 'winter break'.
The DoF said in an interview after the game that no offer had been received for Elia. The last offer was from Wigan! 6 months ago for a loan deal. They told Elia that " his future lies in Hamburg"
- Ed : Can you start a HSV rumour page? I could be 'Ed the German'

Foot note: He has said he would love to play in EPl also, as stated by the agent (again) and (again). . . . . .

The agent that represents Ralf Rangnick says his client is interested in discussing the possibility of taking over from Roy Hodgson at Anfield.

Agent Oliver Mintzlaff says his client has been approached by a Premier League club and KOPTALK sources claim that's us.

Mintzlaff said: "He would be interested in Liverpool and it's possible he could manage there.

"There are no negotiations with them, not even a meeting yet, but he is a big fan of the Premier League.

"If he had to make a decision between the Premier League and staying in the Bundesliga, he would go to England."

Rangnick left German side Hoffenheim on New Years Day after a bust-up with owner Dietmar Hopp.

Hear anything bout this Ed, or recon it bull? {ed's note - do some research on Koptalk and you will see why anyone would be sceptical of anything said on there.}

With the players we are steadily being linked to, I think this will most likely be what the squad looks like after the January window is closed:
GK: Reina, Jones
RB: Johnson, Kelly
CB: Skrtel, Agger, Carragher, Kryiagkos, Kelly, Wilson
LB: Aurelio, Insua, Konchesky
CM: Gerrard, Meireles, Lucas, Honda, Shelvey, Spearing
RW: Elia, Kuyt, Cole
CAM: Honda, Cole, Gerrard
LW: Marveaux, Cole, Honda
ST: Torres, Ngog, Honda, Kuyt

Ins:
-Insua (recall from Gala)
-Honda (CSKA Moscow)
-Elia (Hamburg)
-Marveuax (Rennes)

Outs:
-Babel (Birmingham)
-Maxi (?)
-Jovanovic (?) unfortunately
-Ayala (back out on loan)

Wish we would buy a true striker too but does not look like it will happen right now. Honda should provide enough cover there until summer.

Marveaux:
Pierre Dréossi, general manager of Rennes, showed a lot of pessimism about the future of Sylvain Marveaux in the jersey Rennes. "It's likely that Sylvain lose this summer, " said Dréossi.

Dréossi Pierre, there is virtually no chance that Sylvain Marveaux, particularly courted by Liverpool , always wears the jersey of Stade Rennais to resume next summer. For the general manager of the Breton club, interviewed Tuesday evening on RMC, it even seems possible that the Rennes midfielder, currently unavailable, do not ever play again with Rennes. In addition, he is injured and has only played five games with us this season.
Regarding Millito (30 years old now) Genoa are ready to sign defender Gabriel Milito from Barcelona, according to calciomercato.com.

Earlier reports from Spain suggested that the 30-year-old requested a January loan move away from the Spanish giants to earn more playing time. Milito has seemingly been surplus to requirements since returning after a lengthy injury spell that kept him out from May 2008 to January 2010.

The ambitious Grifoni recently sold defender Andrea Ranocchia to Inter and Milito's experience would be a welcome addition to the backline.

Gabriel's brother, Diego Milito, had two positive spells with Genoa during his career and the Blaugrana centre-back would look to replicate that success if a move were to occur during the winter transfer window.The goal of the defender is going to play in an English or Italian club, and thus arrive with the pace of play for the Copa America in July in Argentina. 9widely reported in Argentina and Italian Press.

I get the feeling that regardless of results now that the owners now know he isn't the man for the job, Im just wondering if ed/ eds has anymore information if they may act soon on replacing him even if its just with a short term replacement just to try boost moral until the summer?

Thanks phil w

{Editor Note: From what I know, the initial plan was to let Hodgson see out the season and then review things whilst they got a board in place. But obviously some results have been poor but the biggest factor in my eyes is the discontentment of the fans towards Hodgson, with the jeering at Anfield, calls for Dalglish and then the attendance for the Bolton game, which was 10,000 short of capacity. I'm sure that will be a concern.}

And I believe that FSG quality signings this jan will reflect that their statement 'we come to win' wasn't a lip service. quality signings this jan (at least 2 class players) will paint a picture about how big their desire to bring glory days for lfc.

Milito is probably going to end up at Genoa.
Aguero was never going to arrive here and until we sort out the manager issue we have no chance of attracting the players we dream off. Im sure with Babel only having 18months left on cobtract lfc will look to ship him out (we are linked with several players reputedly better than . see previous posts from all)

The manager problem i see as the hold up in "atttracting" players we dream off.

Who would you choose from these managerial candidates?

OWEN COYLE
Coyle has rapidly emerged as the brightest young British manager (mind, it's a long list that has in the past included such names as Brian Little, Peter Taylor, Bryan Robson, Peter Reid, George Burley and Phil Brown), producing stylish football that took Burnley to a surprise promotion to the Premier League, and then adding some sparkle to Bolton's traditional rugged virtues. His work at the Reebok shows a pragmatic streak: at Burnley he would switch between 4-4-2 and 4-3-3, but at Bolton, 4-4-2 has predominated as he has used the strength of the two muscular forwards, Kevin Davies and Johann Elmander. That suggests a flexibility, a willingness to take his basic beliefs and fit them to the players available rather than simply imposing a philosophy and his cogency in post-match media dealings suggests somebody with a clear, uncomplicated vision of the game.
KENNY DALGLISH
Second comings are rarely a good idea, as Kevin Keegan found on his return to Newcastle. Nor is it a good idea to return to football after a long break. The greatest managers sustain themselves by evolution, much of it almost unconscious, the accumulation of minor tweaks made on a day-to-day level eventually making a major difference. Dalglish has been involved in football to the extent of doing some scouting and acting as an ambassador for Liverpool, but without hands-on experience it's very easy to get left behind. At Liverpool, Blackburn and Newcastle, he was a classic 4-4-2 man, usually playing one wide midfielder tucked in and the other as a more orthodox winger. But that was a long time ago.
DIDIER DESCHAMPS
If it hadn't been for Jose Mourinho, Deschamps might already be regarded as one of the managerial greats. His achievement in taking Monaco to the Champions League final in 2004 was stunning, but there he lost to Mourinho's Porto. The victor went on to lead Chelsea to glory; the loser fell out with the Monaco hierarchy and spent a year unemployed. He resigned after leading Juventus to promotion from Serie B, but has restored his upward trajectory by leading Marseille to the French title and claims to have been approached by Liverpool in the summer. He prefers a 4-3-3, but is flexible and in the Champions League this season has shown an admirable willingness to take specific action to counter the opposition: away to Spartak, for instance, he shifted to a 4-2-3-1 so Mathieu Valbuena could occupy the deep-lying playmaker Ibson, and was rewarded with a 3-0 win.
JURGEN KLOPP
The 43 year old's antics on the touchline might suggest he is primarily a motivational coach, but his work at Mainz, whom he established in the Bundesliga playing "concept football" - that is, football based on high-tempo collective movement relentlessly practiced on the training-field - suggests a thinker, and nobody who saw his work as a television pundit between 2005 and 2008 could doubt his tactical expertise. He insists his players perform exercises designed to improve coordination and awareness, but essentially his beliefs are typical of the new breed of German coach: rooted in four at the back, high pace and pressing. Leading Dortmund to the top of the Bundesliga shows his ability to work at a major club, but the doubt must be whether principles that seem revolutionary in Germany would be so in England.
RALF RANGNICK
In Germany, Rangnick was a tactical rebel. He saw the future in 1984 playing in a friendly for the amateur side Victoria Backnang against Valeriy Lobanovskyi's Dynamo Kyiv, and became convinced that the principles of the Colonel could have a devastating impact on the staid German game. "I was convinced they had one more player on the pitch, " he said to reporters. "This was a whole new way of football." He obsessively watched tapes of Arrigo Sacchi's AC Milan, and spent a family holiday studying Zdenek Zeman at Foggia. Appointed coach of tiny Ulm, he imposed a flat back four, zonal marking and a hard-pressing game and took them into the Bundesliga, a remarkable feat. His record at Stuttgart, Hannover and Schalke 04 was mixed (although he would finish second in the Bundesliga with Schalke in 2004-05), but Rangnick was then the leader of Hoffenheim's remarkable rise. The 52 year old deserves another chance at a major club, and his principles are not dissimilar to those of Benitez, but there are two major doubts: firstly, English opposition is far more familiar with pressing than German sides; and secondly, his success has been in inspiring small sides with no history of success, not in reinspiring a fallen giant.
FRANK RIJKAARD
At Barcelona, Rijkaard played a classic Dutch-style 4-3-3, following the template laid down in the early seventies, but it took him time to turn the club around, and he was almost sacked after a defeat to Real Madrid in December 2003, five months after being appointed. When he finally left in 2008 he had won two league titles and a Champions League. That success, though, has not been replicated elsewhere: his Dutch national team suffered a collective loss of nerve against Italy in the Euro 2000 semifinal; he was relegated as Sparta Rotterdam manager and he left Galatasaray, where he tried to switch to 4-2-3-1, after four defeats in the first eight games of the Turkish league season and an early exit from the Europa League. It may be that his easygoing attacking philosophy is a fit at Barcelona and few other places.
STAALE SOLBAKKEN
Solbakken is perhaps the hardest of the candidates to assess. He has worked wonders with FC Copenhagen, where he was appointed in 2005 a year after being named Norwegian Coach of the Year for leading Hamarkameratene to promotion. In five seasons in Denmark he has lifted four league titles, and taken FCK into the last 16 of the Champions League. His record is impressive, even if there are doubts about how he would cope outside of Scandinavia. There is little complex about his tactical approach: in only three of 258 Danish league matches has he attempted anything other than 4-4-2 or 4-4-1-1.
ANDRE VILLAS-BOAS
As a young coach enjoying success with Porto, the comparison between the 33-year-old Villas Boas and Mourinho is inevitable. Both wrote scouting reports for Bobby Robson and Villas Boas worked with Mourinho for seven years, at Porto and then at Chelsea and Internazionale. He left in October 2009 and reinvigorated an Academica side that looked doomed, before getting his big chance with Porto last summer. Like Mourinho, he prefers a 4-3-3, but his approach - so far at least - has been far more attacking than his mentor's. He is stylish and ambitious and his record so far is remarkable, both with a minnow and a giant, but a lack of experience may count against him, particularly as the Portuguese league is very different, both in style and depth of quality, to the Premier League.

Is the post that said Hodgson sacked today and Hulk signed tomorrow - If so, how'd you hear about Hulk?

John W stated that the club would look at making revenue in the Asian market when NESV/ FSG completed the buy out. I presume part of this would include an Asian player, Honda being the best Asian player seems to make sense. 2+2=5? ?

I can see us signing Honda, Marveaux and maybe M'Villa. Would love us to go out and get Rangnick first though - intelligent, speaks English, good age, attacking football!

What is everyones problem with adebayour, that is one good striker that we need, look how well he played at arsenal, banging goals in, , man city have been dumb not to play him when they got him, , , hes much better than players were linked with or even have on our squad now, , ricky van wolfswinklem absolutley crap, , traore who plays for cluj what the hell where did this link up come from carlton cole, , , my god if these r the players we want instead of adebayour then liverpool fc have a problem and will be fighting relegation the end of this season! roy out b4 he wastes money on these crappy players, we need players like suarez, adebayour, honda,

Vela and Adebayor would be good signings on Loan
i doubt Aresenal would allow Vela to come here
Wenger said he can go to someone that can offer regular football, this may well be us but its not going to happen
and i read earlier that Sky Sports News had said we had contacted City, i've had Sky Sports News since 9am and there has been nothing yet :/
only thing about City is that they have agreed a price for Dzeko
if we're going to bid for Honda we should do it now even if he isn't available till Feb we have clinched it and have something to look forward to for our big fixtures

Augero Vs Suarez
Augero would certainly be twice the price of Suarez probably in both terms of a signing fee and salary – but twice the player I'm not so sure.

They are both very similar in their playing styles and both flourish with Forlan as a strike partner. Augero has the better overall temperament; however Suarez is definitely more aggressive and has a greater desire to win hence his captaincy of Ajax.

Suarez price is lower as he fell out with the club (in anger bit the opposition) and he has only scored in the Dutch league (and world cup) although he has banged in over 100 goals in 3 seasons – comparably more than Augero.

Either one would be a coup and transfer of the window, but I do believe Suarez is the only one available in January and his price would be no less than EUR 25 million (GBP 21.3 million).

Every fan of LFC wants the owners to sign a £20 million strike partner for Torres and I believe Suarez is best option available, do you agree?

As for the rest I have no info on, I don't believe we are after Suarez though, I am 95% sure that it was Erikssen at Ajax we are looking at.}

ot of all of them mentioned, we r after adebayour hopefully we can get him if not suarez cos camolli is definitly after him, , honda im sure were after too gervinho was enquired about nothing more, , and elia will be a done deal soon.

Ed say if we have already signed marveaux , which his preferred position being left winger and then if we was to sign elia who i believe is a left winger also , then surely we won't sign honda as well? Even though i really really want him to come , surely theres no chance of us getting all 3 , it seems like its either or with elia and honda. even though i know honda can play attacking mid or striker but i can't see us getting all 3 , personally id prefer honda over all of them and now his agent has issued a come and get me plea we would be silly not to go and get him , i hope roy and comolli give the fans what they want.

DLG

{Editor Note: Honda is very versatile. He can play midfield, left-back, wing, up front or behind the striker. I think he prefers playing as an attacking midfielder. I see no reason why all three couldn't be signed because not every player we sign has to start, we need squad depth also. But I can only see Marveaux signing for the moment.}

{Editor Note: I'm ok thanks. Like you said, only 4 days into the transfer window. Most of the links are just paper talk at the moment. So we must be patient and hope to see one or two new faces this window, but don't expect any big-name signings.}

Regardless of what anyone's personal view of Adebayour is he is (on form) a quality striker. I hope we get him on loan from City and after a run of games we'll see the Adebayour of old (under Wenger) and partner him with a moral boosted Torres! They could potentially form the best strike partnership LFC have had for sometime. .

What you reckon Ed(s)?

. : LojR: .

{Editor Note: I don't know what the other eds think about him, but I'd be happy to take him on a loan deal with the view to a permanent move. On form I do think he is a top striker but I do have concerns about his attitude. But maybe if he got regular first-team football and was happy it wouldn't be a concern, who knows.}

My guess to the transfer window with all the linking of players is
ins
suarez 18 mil
metsacker 10mil
elia 13mil
adebayor 9mil
= 50mil
outs
agger 10 mil
babel 6mil
jovanovic 4mil
=20 mil
30 million transfer budget + 20 mill =50mil
0 mill saving

roy will be manager
any thoughts ed

{Editor Note: All of the names mentioned are just paper talk at the moment apart from Adebayor who people believe we are genuinly interested in. And I hope Agger doesn't leave. Our best defender by far, and the only one who is willing to play football instead of rugby.}

Just want to double check ed. . why do clubs wait so long in the window to sign players. We could have signed someone available for tomorrows game but more importantly the weekend? Can deals not be done before the window and then registered during the window? I am quietly confident that a few deals will be handled like the Meireles deal and not announced or any paper talk untill the day we announce the deal is done.

Any1 else think that we won't sign anyone at all in jan?

{Editor Note: Deals can be done before the window opens. I would imagine that things take so long in January as clubs are unwilling to sell their players mid-season and for other reasons.}

Don't know if there is any truth in this or if my Girlfriend (also a big Liverpool fan) is trying to wind me up, But she works at John Lennon Airport and has text me saying Kenny Daglish (Pants an Shirt), Mike McGlyn (Jeans an Shirt) and another man (in a suit) who she didn't recognise boarded a plan to Amsterdam a couple hours ago

My first reaction was "It's gotta be Suarez", But then i came to my senses and realised that Ajax aint playing today or tomorrow so there would be no point taking Mike McGlyn over with them, as he takes no part in negotiations, So i've come to the conclusion that IF, (and that's a big IF), They have flown over there it must be just to run the rule on some Youngster

As i said, Don't know if its true or not because the last i heard Kenny was in Dubai, Anychance you know anything about it Ed(s)?, I'm waiting for the GF to come home from work about 930pm to find out if she is pulling my leg cause in the back of my mind i'm still thinking Suarez, but that's just me dreaming lol

Iverpool are being linked with a January move for Newcastle United winger Wayne Routledge.

The 25-year-old joined the Toon a year ago from Championship outfit QPR, and now Liverpool boss Roy Hodgson is reportedly ready to make an offer for the player.

An £8 million valuation is believed to have been placed on the player's head by Alan Pardew, who has used the winger sparingly since his arrival at St James' Park.

The Metro claims the Hodgson's interest in Routledge has peaked after the Anfield outfit were priced out of a move for Charles N'Zogbia, and the Liverpool boss is keen to add width and pace in the transfer window.

A product of the Crystal Palace academy, Routledge joined Spurs in 2005, but made only five league appearances during his three years with the White Hart Lane outfit.

After loan spells at Portsmouth and Fulham, Tottenham Hotspur sold the player to Aston Villa for a fee in the region of £1.25 million.

With minimal success at Villa Park and a loan spell at Cardiff City, QPR moved for the winger in 2008, with Routledge flourishing in the second tier.

Newcastle came calling last January, and the player's improvement has continued with the Magpies.

His good form has attracted the interest of a number of clubs, but Liverpool are the latest to be linked as Hodgson looks to create a new squad on Merseyside.

Owners NESV have promised the Liverpool chief money to spend, and Hodgson is thought to have a short-list of 'four or five' players.

It is unknown if Routledge is on the list, but a Premier League switch to Liverpool would complete a remarkable change in fortunes for the former England U21 international.

if this is true - Roy needs sacking immediately! a terrible player who has consistently failed.
dear god - what have LFC become! !

Japanese international Keisuke Honda has issued a come-and-get-me-plea to Liverpool manager Roy Hodgson following consistent speculation linking the CSKA Moscow forward with a move to the club.

Honda has been steadily linked with Arsenal and Liverpool since the World Cup, however Hodgson has emerged as the frontrunner for the striker with Arsene Wenger ruling out any move for a striker in the January transfer window.

Hodgson is eager to strengthen his forward options being linked with West Ham's Carlton Cole, FC Cluj forward Lacine Traore, while Sport.co.uk confirmed today that the former Fulham boss has also made contact regarding a move for FC Utrecht striker Ricky Van Wolfswinkel.

Reports during the festive period had suggested that the Japanese international had agreed a verbal agreement to join Liverpool, a rumour that the player's representative was eager to clear up.

"No there is no truth in that rumour." Kees Ploegsma explained to Sport.co.uk.

"There is constant speculation surrounding Liverpool, but the real situation is that there is only interest from them, and they have not made a firm offer."

Ploegsma admitted that his client was keen to push through a move to Anfield.

"If he could move to a club like Liverpool it would be great, but the two clubs must come to an agreement first. The Premier League is a great competition which he would like to play in."

Honda's representative also hinted that Liverpool's current situation on and off the pitch was slowing down any possible transfer for the Japanese international.

"I don't know what the situation is at Liverpool." Ploegsma continued.

"Is the manager staying? Are the new owners going to invest as they are struggling in the league? All I know is we have no formal offer, and we have the rest of the window to see what materialises."

Honda has been considering his future at CSKA Moscow after it emerged earlier in the year that the club were considering cashing in on either Alan Dzagoev or the Japanese international, with Honda is angling for a move to Europe with Arsenal, Liverpool, and AC Milan the confirmed suitors.

The 24-year-old CSKA Moscow striker has been subject of intense speculation since his successful World Cup campaign with Japan although thus far no formal bids have been launched. The most fouled striker at the World Cup is now looking into the possibility of leaving the Russian club, however it is not known how much the club will be requesting for the forward with the players agent suggesting that the club will only sell for the right price.

The Japanese international started his career at Gamba Osaka, the same club as former Arsenal player Junichi Inamoto, before moving onto Nagoya Grampus Eight, the club from whom Arsene Wenger joined the Gunners in 1996.

Adebeyor on loan for 6months is not a bad option no need to get ripped off in the January window and leave our striker serch for the summer. I know he is a complete a* ehole but he is a decent player and would knock the ball down for Elnino all day.

Elia not a bad one but i really can't see him offering any more then Babel.

Van Wolfswinkle i think this guy would be good but not better then what we have in the ranks waiting to come through.

Adam Barton from PNE would be a smashing buy can't beleive Blackburn let him go then again we know Blackburn don't like players that can actually play football.

Honda: i don't know if this is just wishful thinking by us fans or we are going to make an offer, great great player with bags of pontential in nearly any position on the field.

Hazard definatly just wishful thinking that man could in my opinion walk into any club in the world.

I hope we try to sign some class and just hope Hodge was having a bad day when Poulsen and Im tellin me mammy signed.

Best of luck for the new year guys and Eds, Any input would be greatly appriciated.

I think we have room in our team for a left sided attacker, yes? Make it happen NESV!

04 Jan 2011 15:33:31

The Japanese international started his career at Gamba Osaka, the same club as former Arsenal player Junichi Inamoto, before moving onto Nagoya Grampus Eight, the club from whom Arsene Wenger joined the Gunners in 1996.

what are we waiting for! ! ! !

But it's highly unlikely that he will move though, it's been blown out of proportion. Hamburgs sporting director has said that no contact has been made between the clubs.

Did you guys See the press conference that ancolleti spoke in?
He clearly told that players extend contract only for job security nothing else. So do clubs so that they get the right price for the players. .
So just because aguero signs a new contract doesn mean he ll not move. Atletico rate the player at around 40m and realise that they wouldn't get the price if he was in his final year or so. . If the price they were looking for was offered then we could get aguero.
But there is a difference between right price and the tag that most clubs put on their players. . That is done to ward off offers. .

Wel lads. Got list of a few names that LFC have been scouting, both with a view to Jan and also the summer transfer windows. No big deals will be done in Jan, expect most to be minimal fees and the big deals to happen in summer.

Jan
Seb Larrson,
Steven Pienaar,
Slyvain Marveaux,
Urby Emanuelson,
Reto Zeigler,
Andriy Yarmolenko,
Juan Angel Albin,
Ivan Rakatic,
Christain Pander,
Johan Elmander,
Valter Birsa,
Guillaume Hoarau.

Summer:
Radamel Falcao,
Nicolas Otamendi,
Christian Eriksen,
Mathias Jorgensen,
Iker Munian,
Oscar Sielva
Sofiane Feghouli,
Georginio Wijnaldum,
Franco Zuculini,
Cesar Azpilicueta,
Nuri Sahin,
Luc Castaignos,
Stefan Kiessling,
Ermin Zec,
Ola Toivonen,
Renato Augusto,
Anas Sharbini,
Armin Bacinovic.

Like i've said, these are some of the players that have been scouted. Obviously not all will come in. But there are some very good players in that list. You here any off these names mentioned before ed? cheers kk. {ed's note - a fair few of them match up with the names I have been hearing we are looking at. Obviously Marveaux, Pienaar, Hoarau and Erikssen stand out as ones that I have mentioned in the past on here as being watched.}

We won't be after Luis Suarez this window. Instead expect us to sign Emmanuel Adebayor. We have made an enquiry about him and hope to have him at the club by the derby match on the 16th. We may just take him on loan though, with a future fee.
Also, rumour has it that Eljero Elia has joined the club on a £12.9m deal. There has been no confirmed reports though which makes me think this is a load of bull, but the interest is definitely there. I'd also expect a move for Ryan Shawcross or Scott Dann in January, with Hodgson wanting to find a long-term replacement for Carra, so Shawcross is the likely target.
Finally, I'm surprised that a deal for Sylvain Marveaux hasn't been done. He was at the Liverpool - Wolves game and rumour had it he was there to watch his new side in action, signing a contract after the game. £1.5m and I do expect him to be a Liverpool player before the Blackpool match.

Can't find anything on LFC web site about having to sell players before we buy.
Did see that RH is saying we may need to rest SG and FT. They have played 2 matches in about 4 weeks! This is not about LFC it is about RH. He knows if he can win at Old Trafford it will look much better for him. A win at Blackburn is no big deal. We need to win both. Roy's self preservation.
Also on the echo site we have Ian Rush urging us to get behind Roy. I don't get it, Roy is a lemming are we going to follow him off the cliff?

its under transfer rumours headline
KOP IDENTIFY WORLD CUP STAR.
Last parra reads
The new American owners have made clear they do not intend to spend their way out of trouble, so the manager will be encouraged to sell players before he brings in new signings, with Ryan Babel a likely candidate to make way.

Former Hoffenheim manager Ralf Rangnick has admitted he would be open to managing Liverpool despite receiving no offers from the club.

Rangnick quit his post at the Rhein-Neckar-Arena on Saturday after the club sold Luis Gustavo to Bundesliga rivals Bayern Munich without his consent and has been touted as a potential successor to under-fire Roy Hodgson at Anfield.

Oliver Mintzlaff, the 52-year-old's agent, confirmed that his client would relish the prospect of plying his trade in England and in particular at Liverpool but has yet to receive any offers.

He said: "Ralf Rangnick is very interested in the Premier League and Liverpool certainly a very interesting club with a great tradition.

"Ralf is a great fan of English football and he has followed it a great deal.

"The English Premier League is something which interests him very much, but there have not been any discussions with Liverpool"

Would prefer someone like Llorente, Suarez or Hulk as I'm sure we all would. .but Adebayor would be a good signing in my opinion. His goalscoring record is pretty good, a 1 in 2 player. So right now the two deals that seem to be most concrete are Marveaux and Elia. Only trouble is they play the same position. True we need a left winger, but why buy too in the same window when there are other places of concern in the squad. I have suggested before that Elia is not much different from Babel when he plays on the left because he is right footed and always wants to cut in. So are we planning on putting him on the right? I think that would work well but why not buy a true right winger then? Ed or anybody else what do you think we will do with two players?
Anfield Rapstar {ed's note - I remain unconvinced on Elia, it all smacks of an agent trying to get his player a move.}

. .''I know I'm just hyping myself up for a big let down, but I reckon NESV are going to bring in a proper world class player in this window. A 20-30 million player, someone of the standard of Suarez or Aguero. It's just a gut feeling as it looks like they'll keep Roy until the end of the season until they can get the manager they want. But, with the low numbers at Anfield last weekend and the supporters getting very frustrated, they're going to have to show that they are taking positive steps with a huge investment.

Also, I reckon the Eljero Elia move will involve a player going the other way. .maybe Babel?. .''

. .I have to say I agree. . . .I really believe that a ''bums on seats'' player will come in this window, who if the worst comes to the worst can be sold on by any new manager (if he comes). . . .nothing more than guess work says that Suarez ( with Babel returning to Ajax) is the most likely. . .
a) he is defo. on the move
b) Babel is third choice at best behind Torres and Ngog ( probably further back when you consider the amount of times Gerrard / Cole play off Torres
c) Babel returning to Ajax would apease the fans somewhat when Suarez is sold
d) we almost certainly would get our 18-20m back in resale if Suarez failed to work out in 12 months

Also I think Mvilla, and Sakho (to a smaller extent) will come but not til summer.

Just my opinion - not based on any inside info.

ed how reliable is the telegraph, why would liverpool f c, give ralfy boy the managers job? a person that until he resigned no one in britain had even heard of him, he has less on his cv than sir roy, would any other top club in the WORLD take a chance on rangnick the answer is no it is a joke that we have fans on here saying his team plays good attacking football! who said so? he resigned on principle this time but his record is all at the lower levels of german football and that's it, people must be mancs or monkeys to even put such names forward, bob paisleys skids {ed's note - it is just a case of him becoming available so papers are immediately linking him to us. Ajax has put £17m fee on Luis Suarez reports on The Independent says Spurs are looking at him, I know hes trouble but with the right management he could be the perfect buy imagine seeing Saurez and Torres up front Gerrard just behind them with Elia and Glenn Johnson on the flanks whipping those crosses in the box with could still could hit CL spot, we on 25 points 19 games played 19 games left to play IF that's IF we could win our 19 games we could finish on 82 points plenty to play for? Ed?

{editor: Suarez for me would be a good signing. I don't know how likely he is to join us though. I don't think that we can get CL football next season mate, not in my opinion}

* * * * * * * *

What a beautiful thought. Just spend £17M on Suarez and get Elia and that would immediately guarantee you win the next 19 premier league games!

If only it were that easy. .

I cannot for the life of me see how we would have to generate money from sales to bring new players in. Where's the money going to come from?? The only people I could see generating us any money would be Johnson, Babel, Kuyt, Agger, Lucas and a few £ for Jovanovic.

If we sell them we will have no sort of squad.

I can see Young signing as he can play wide or up front. I doubt that NESV would make 2 "major" signings, despite us needing at least 2 wingers, a striker and a left back!

I have just been reading the Times, and it says Roy wants to spend in January as he still doesn't have enough of his own players. He brought 7 players in the summer, of which Meireles is the only one who gets into the 1st team.
He really needs to be less media friendly and concentrate on his job of doing his best with what is available to him. Owen Coyle has worked wonders with a squad he mostly inherited from Gary Megson. Chris Hugton did a very good job of getting Championship players to a Premiership standard (Andy Carroll did not look half as dangerous in the Championship as he does now!) as has Roberto Di Matteo. Why is Hodgson incapable of doing this considering the managers above have about 10 years experience between them, compared to Hodgson's 30 odd years in management!
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Roy only brought in 3 players, Miereles, Konchesky and Poulsen. All the others were done deals or in the process of being done before Roy arrived.

If the deal with dzeko and city have fallen through coz wage demands were too high, then how can liverpool afford something like that. that's my opinion, besides, i don't see dzeko as a great player. . yet. hes very talented and scores goals, but that's the bundesliga. very different to the epl.

* *
well actually bundesliga is the league in the world that is most similiar to the premier league, its fast moving and physical just like the EPL, but your views on dzeko are fair he's not amazing the fuss started all because he scored against man u the other year. the person saying that chelsea have game winners on their bench? WHO? their bench against villa was turnbull, mchearen, sturridge and another bunch of youngsters their are no chelsea players on the bench who can win games. I'm getting the feeling that marveux deal has fallen through, otherwise their would be no interest in elia as they are both left wingers. Marveux isn't good, elia is though. no need to wrry about the quote saying we need to sell to buy, it originates with the mirror. They don't know anything about football, darren lewis is a retard who talks from his arse so don't believe anything yuo read in the mirror, especially if they say exlusive. in the summer he said he would only join club who lay real football, that's not us. he even said he is prepared to retire at ajax, not that its still true now. the only players sold are babel, and poulsen. striker, HG midfielder, left-wing are main targets centre-back small target.

if we sign marveux i won't be happy.

I think the owners have to stop hiding behind the notion of having a long term strategy for now. I know its good to think long but the problem is in the PRESENT and the problem is HODGSON. . hodgson's replacement may or may not succeed. . but that shouldn be the reason in not taking a bold step now. . The owners have been patient more than enough and we the fans have tolerated more than enough. . ITS TIME HODGSON LEAVES based on the performance he has given, even though there might not be a suitable replacement available for him now. .bring in a new guy, let him get some fresh faces and LFC return back to its RIGHTFUL and former glory. . .Red Indian. . .

Do feel we need more competition for the central midfield and a decent left back! for the last few years our bench has been poor, when u look at chavski, manure etc they have game changers on the bench. we dont. YNWA

I would say the fact Nathan Eccleston is going out on loan would indicate a new striker being brought in, as an injury to Torres/ Ngog would leave us without much/ any backup. Llorente would be my ideal!(allowed to dream.) Unlike other negative posters I feel positive about this transfer window & definately don't believe we will be picking up other teams cast offs. Fenway want to impress the fans and I believe there will be a signing that will give the fans something to shout about & hopefully fill more seats!

Roy Hodgson will not be replaced as manager, not at the moment anyway. He may receive limited transfer funds, but since he keeps blathering on about the squad not being his, he will have to sell players to raise the necessary funds. There might be 2-3 players out and 2-3 players in, chosen by Roy. Judging by the dross signed during the summer don't expect much change and expect a mid table finish with 49-55 points. The new owners are only going to make changes inline with a long term strategy which is still being drawn up.

With Roy Hodgson seemingly on his way out of Anfield, speculation is rife as to who will be his successor. As expected, the usual suspects in terms of household managerial names are doing the rounds in the papers; the likes of Rijkaard, Hiddink and Martin O'Neill continue having their names linked with the soon to be vacant managerial position at Anfield.

However, NESV's arrival at Anfield along with their innovative outlook, has resulted in a shortlist of relatively unknown managers being continually linked to the Liverpool managers job. Jurgen Klopp, Ralf Rangnick, and Andre Villas Boas being those receiving the most attention in the national media. With Guus Hiddink being the only available household name worth considering in my opinion, a lot of excitement is beginning to surround the names of the relative unknowns of the managerial world, particularly that of Andre Villas Boas.

In just six months as manager of FC Porto, Villas Boas has done his reputation immeasurable amounts, particularly as outside of Portugal it's fair to say his reputation was non-existent prior to his appointment as manager. At the age of 33, with no prior experience of top-flight management, Villas Boas has become one of the hottest properties in world football. Like any young Portugese manager with great potential and no previous footballing experience, the Jose Mourinho comparisons have become somewhat inevitable.

A former scout and assistant to Mourinho, Villas Boas has come into the spotlight in quite spectacular fashion. The last few years has seen Porto become less of a threat in European competition whilst also losing their stranglehold on the Portugese League they became accustomed to winning. Along with the sale of Bruno Alves and Raul Miereles, Porto lost two of their best players, they were expected to fall further away in the running for the title. Twelve wins out of fourteen so far this season suggests Villas Boas has every chance of winning the title with his new team. He currently holds an 89% win ratio in all games in his short time at Porto, a remarkable record for a young man new to the high pressure environment of big club management. To those about to question his credentials when things aren't going so well, you only have to look at the job he did at Academica, his first managerial job, who were rock bottom of the league without a win until he took over and subsequently secured an eleventh placed finish, with a run to the semi-finals of the Portuguese cup thrown in for good measure.

His short career so far certainly suggests he is a Mourinho in the making, but would he be the right man for Liverpool? If the rumours are to be believed, NESV are keen to employ a young up and coming manager and Villas Boas certainly fits the bill in that respect. With regards to Liverpool though, this may a big step too soon for the young man. Despite his CV looking too good to be true, the step up to the Premier League would be a huge one for him. The pressure and expectancy on his shoulders from the media and the fans would be enormous and could prove, as it has done in the past, debilitating for certain managers. Particularly in a league which is considerably more competitive than the Portugal's Premier Division. On the other hand, although in hugely different circumstances, a novice manager like Pep Guardiola has coped and succeeded under massive pressure from fans and the media; he was a risk who truly paid off.

His age may also cause concern for some, particularly those in the dressing room. A manager younger than certain members of the playing squad may have difficulties earning his team's respect, particularly when that manager hasn't achieved at the highest level; something many Liverpool players have been used to in recent years, Hodgson aside. For those that argue that Guardiola hadn't, I imagine his reputation within Barcelona was already fairly formidable given his illustrious playing career and close ties to the club and city.

The free-flowing, attacking football Villas Boas has got Porto playing would be well received by the Anfield faithful. However, the English and Portuguese games have major differences. Portugal is a nation that arguably nurtures more technically gifted players than England, and along with the physical nature of the Premier League that many foreign managers struggle to begin with, and this may cause significant problems for a relatively inexperienced coach like Villas Boas. Another problem that has caused great difficulty for foreign managers in England is the language barrier. This could possibly be a reason Steven Gerrard and Jamie Carragher are rumoured to be so much in favour of British managers. Fluent in English, Andre Villas Boas would jump over that huge hurdle before even arriving at Anfield.

Despite recently signing a new contract with Porto, I'm sure John Henry and Co. won't abandon their recently acquired knowledge regarding the worthlessness of footballing contracts, and still try to attempt to get him on board despite his commitments. Any man or club has their price, and although he may perceive the Liverpool job to be too early in his career, working for Liverpool would turn any manager's head.

Unfortunately, Liverpool may have had a better chance capturing him six months ago, as the potential for success he has displayed at Porto in his short time there will have interested a lot of clubs. It is probable this man will have more than one offer on his table next summer.

A young, forward-thinking, charismatic Portuguese manager with a similarly analytical and academic background as Mourinho, already proving to be a success in his homeland whilst playing attractive, attacking football does sound quite appealing. Combined with fitting NESV's specification immaculately he looks like a more than interesting candidate. I, for one, would be prepared to take the risk.

Liverpool: Eljero Elia Transfer Almost Certain - Full Report

Liverpool: Eljero Elia Transfer Almost Certain - Full Report (Image via Wikipedia)

Liverpool are set to sign Eljero Elia from Hamburg.

Roy Hodgson's first aquisition during the current transfer window is set to be a young player from Germany.

The 23-year-old Elia is considered one of the top talents in his position and it is reported that he will cost the Reds around £13 Million.

The media in Germany are saying that the Dutchman has already agreed personal terms with Liverpool and will make an offcial switch within the next few days.

Elia has a lot of experience despite his tender age. He has featured for Holland in the last World Cup finals and has played in the Champions League as well.

The Liverpool manager will hope that he will play alongside Steven Gerrard and help drive his team forward in order to spark their season alive.

His arrival could mean that another Dutchman – Ryan Babel – will end his dissapointing stay at Anfield.

I got this from a very reliable source. We'll only b signing 2 players during this window. Much transfers will b done in summer.
The two players to b signed are a striker and a left winger.
Striker - Saurez/ Hulk/ wolfs van
Winger - Elia/ Young
We'll then b playing 4-4-2
i.e
Reina
G.Johnson. .Carra. .Agger. .Aurelio

Kuyt. .Raul. .Gerrard. .Elia/ Young

Torres. .saurez/ hulk/ wolfs van swenkel

Kuyt will b playn on the right wing till the summer when Maurvex (sp) will come for free. He has already sighned a precontract with us, meaning he will b joining for free.
Havent been told of players leaving, but i'll post immediately i hear.

Ed, this is the greatest site i've seen. Keep it up.

I hope Liverpool now go for him!. what a fornt six if this were to happen!. good chance to.

Rumours have it that Woy will be gone on Thursday morning and Kenny and Phil Thompson will be unvieled on Thursday afternoon along with a new signing. The reason for this date is to try and give that `new manager` feel good feeling to the players just before the united game as NESV feel a good run in the cup would lift the team and show there commitment to winning.
Hope it works and pushes the team onto a win.

Im sorry but if this is true its definatly a step in the wrong direction. Besides macca are you sure on this one i mean would he join Liverpool even if we wanted him. .? Id have thought he would want to join Spurs being his boyhood club and in a betteer position then us. .

Gary Coterill just said on sky sports news that harry redknapp has completely dismissed reports he is even interested in signing Ajax striker Suarez.
That leaves just us and arsenal who have been linked and Arsene Wenger said he wasn't going to spend big in January as he believe's his current squad have the firepower to win the league already.
That leaves just us interested.
Why doesn't roy make a bid at the very least. If we are the only team interested, surely his head would have to be turned ?
Just adding facts together here ;)

Re: The reason why AC Milan want to sell Ronaldinho to us cheaply is so that the clubs build a good relationship, and then in the summer they will try to buy Johnson and/ or Reina.

This is partly correct but not on the Johnson / Reina front. Milan are keen to keep liverpool sweet as they have not yet tabled a bid for Honda but intend on doing so. If they can offload Ronaldinhio for a minimal fee, there is room in there wage budget for the signing of Honda as apparantly Honda's current club loyalty is poor and he is focusing on wages and career progression.

Juventus are actually pursuing Eljero Elia and have been tracking him since he won the award of young player of the year (dutch) 2009, however Elia (apparantly) has stated he wants a liverpool switch. I cannot see neither signing.

What u reckon Ed? ?

If we look at NESV baseball teams and history, they always have atleast one or two major names with WORLDWIDE shirt sales generating massive profits, massive on shirt sales alone, then followed by huge gate reciepts (NEW STADIUM) PROFIT PROFIT PROFIT. NESV always invest wisely, wether it be a minimal fee or massive fee. Ronaldinhio would be WISE. . the excitement and buzz {ed's note - it would be a disaster.}

Sadly, neither do I. everything about Woy is dreadful. from tactics to press interviews!

i can't see NESV giving him much money to spend as he is not seen as there for long term! I would be surprised if they do pay the reported £13m for Elia, although he is young enough and good enough for A N Other manager. I imagine, signings will be Comolli's - not Woys.

Just read on lfc website that in order to spend 12 mill we have to sell as present owners are not prepared to spend their way out of trouble. What do you think Ed, no one expecting Man City spend but they must know we all expect some significant spending from them. At least 20 mill in Jan. Whats your thoughts Ed

{editor: I only know that every transfer will be dealt with one at a time. If a player is good enough and the owners, comolli and roy want him then we will try to sign them

Thats positive enough but just concerned about the sell to buy any truth in that Ed

NEW MANAGER

My thoughts are this: NESV know exactly who they want. The CEO issue is unconnected to who they have earmarked. The CEO just needs to be in place before the manager is, in other words the business guy must know the overall football/ business strategy in time for the new manager; if he is to be a credible authority he needs to be there before the new guy starts. This isn't the case or matters normally but NESV have the chance to start over and this is what they are taking the opportunity to do, they'd be foolish not to.

The man I think they are after is BOAS not Ralf Rangnick, who has just resigned. Why? Schooled by Robson, from Porto days when he was a scout, so not unfamiliar with management from an English viewpoint. Schooled by Mourinho at Chelsea, not unfamiliar again with the league not a risk. Knows the English dressing room and how it works! This is key!

How can it happen if a one year extension has been signed? This I think is a mutual arrangement between NESV and Porto. NESV want the right man for years to come. Therefore a one year extension isn't expensive to compensate contextually. It guarantees NESV their man. It throws the media and other clubs off the scent. It stops ructions at Porto amongst their fans and keeps their season publicly from being disrupted.

BOAS is going to be off to one of the big European giants, it is just about who gets him first. NESV want young talent before it is snapped up. This is not just when it comes to players.

BOAS, I think is not a fluke, look at the Portuguese league table. He is not an absolute risk either. He knows the English methods and ways.

Who will be the Liverpool connection of the passed with a winning mentality? Not Tommy, atleast not for the long term nor Lee. Sami Hyypia soon to the coaching staff, I think and Carragher and Stevie G, also in time to the coaching staff, to resurrect the boot room again. Maybe even Paco back, as it was when he left that things stopped progressing.

Be patient with NESV. They are clever, clever, clever!

Just my considered thoughts.

Hey ED read in the paper today that we supposibly tried offloading Agger to Wolfsburg last month and it fell through and now Juve are ment to be coming into to swoop him. Honda and Elia - neither are coming. NESV do things differently. Professionally and precise so that the media cannot speculate over transfers.

Anything you see or hear via SSN or the media at present is nonsense. IMO having researched NESV previous trail of purchases I would presume there will be one major signing towards the end of the January transfer window followed by one or two mediocre signings but prospect signings to balance out the team. The major signing may not arrive until the summer.

I've got a question why don't we go for Ronaldino he'd be a good signing if the price that is quoted is true and would show us that the new owners are willing to buy top players he fits into the NESV model to as they have primarly young players with a few experienced ones and he'd make his money back in shirt sales and keep the top players happy too.

The reason why AC Milan want to sell Ronaldinho to us cheaply is so that the clubs build a good relationship, and then in the summer they will try to buy Johnson and/ or Reina.

If the deal with dzeko and city have fallen through coz wage demands were too high, then how can liverpool afford something like that. that's my opinion, besides, i don't see dzeko as a great player. . yet. hes very talented and scores goals, but that's the bundesliga. very different to the epl. i think hes overated, his cost is way higher than it shuld be. honestly i wouldn't mind adebayor on loan, personally hes a great player but his attitude is terrible. the way he just left arsenal after what they did for him was disgraceful and i wuldnt want him at liverpool if he were to do sumthin like that. as for these rumour with elia, plz roy sign him. don't give babel to them. in the past ive been very critical about babel but he still has alot to offer.

these rumours about aguero would be great if roy signed him. no1 knew that meireles (spelling) was being linked with us, theres been nothing in the media linking aguero with us, maybe this could be the same. if we did sign him, i would fly from australia to england and get on my knees and worship roy and negotiators and then fly to america and worship the owners. if we signed aguero. id rather aguero over dzeko any day

Is there any chance of the Mario Gomez deal rumoured last summer being resurected? or Vucinic? these are class of player we need and could get if roy realises we are not Blackburn/ Fulham .
If we can't get what's badly needed (inteligence and drive) maybe we should at 3-5-2 , it would accommodate the players we have suiting carra, johnson and Aurellio in particular. Mereillis gerrard cole/ maxi in midfield for a good run of games and might pick up.
PS get Honda and Ever banega.

I know I'm just hyping myself up for a big let down, but I reckon NESV are going to bring in a proper world class player in this window.

Also, I reckon the Eljero Elia move will involve a player going the other way. .maybe Babel?

Whats your thoughts on the possibility of Elia and Suarez (sp) joining in January Ed? And have you heard anything else about possible targets?

{Editors Note: I don't really know much about Elia to be honest. People rate him highly but I'd personally prefer to see him play first before judging him. As for Suarez, I can't see him signing but if he did sign I'd be pleased and excited. In general, I can't see either deal happen.}

lol this ed don't have a clue, , , elia is nearly a done deal, , so how u can say u can't see it happening i don't know

{Editor Note: I don't claim to know everything that is happening. The Elia stories are just rumours and paper talk at the moment. I tend to ignore the lazy journalists in the papers who make up rumours. A few days ago the papers were telling us that Elia is close to signing for Juventus, now he's on the way to Liverpool. And you claim it is nearly a done deal, what is that based on though?}

Sebastian Larsson might not be the greatest winger of all time but we could really use the stability, consistency and speed he has to offer. He is getting better every season and is still young and his contract is about to run out. Swedish rumours are linking him with liverpool and 2 other clubs. Any news ed?

{Editor Note: None at the moment mate. Perhaps one of the other eds know something. They seem to be more in the know in England than me.}

It is looking increasingly likely that Ralf Rangnick will replace Roy Hodgson. Don't know much about him, but, have heard he plays very attacking football, employing a 4-3-3 formation with two wingers. He is also fluent in English and as he has quit his job the owners will not have to pay any compenstation.

Elia, Marveaux and a striker looking likely this January. Would certainly give more balance to the side. Sometimes balance is more important than class.
In 08/ 09 our wingers were Pennant and Riera, neither are better than Elia or Marveaux, but the natural width makes gaps for Gerrard and Torres to exploit, and if those gaps are filled the speedy wingers will get in behind. Looking forward to this year with wingers finally being linked to us. Shame Kewell never succeeded. His injuries ruined a promising Talent.

A lot of premier league clubs are trying to get Beckham on loan. I wonder has Hodgson, who is great friends with the enemy Sir Alex, asked him to have a word to Beckham about moving to the Pool. Nobody knew about the Meireles deal, maybe this could be another Hodgson sneeky signing. What ya think ed?

Hi elia, suarez, traore linked now. obviously elia looks like it might happen but suarez i think is unlikely, spurs and arsenal linked i wouldn't join us. as 4 traore (ivory coast) i know nothing of him. ed wot chance u think we have of signing any of these?

{Editor Note: If we went in for all of the players you mentioned I think we'd have an excellent chance of getting them. However, it is debatable whether we are infact in for them. It is all paper talk at the moment, so based on fact and logic I'd say it is unlikely that any of the players you mentioned will be signing in this transfer window.}

Ed any news on any transfer targets in spanish league?

{Editor Note: I've been told that Liverpool scouts have been present at a few La Liga games this season. The player being watched of course is unknown. I've also been told that at this moment in time the Spanish media haven't been linking us with moves for anyone in La Liga in this window. I was told in May that we were tracking S.Gijon left-back Jose Angel, but now that Rafa is gone I doubt it will develop. Ask me the same question in a week and I'll try and find out more for you mate.}

SHAWCROSS (£7M) PLUS ADD ONS OR PLAYER TO MAKE THE £10M, ! ! also sturridge said he wants to leave on loan and liverpool are his prefered club, the reason why he wants to leave or just go on loan is because he is not in Ancelotti's plans.
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
I agree it's been well documented that Sturridge would like to move to LFC on loan. But Chelsea will not loan him to LFC no matter what Sturridge says. You'll probably see him loaned out to someone like WBA who are in the market for a loan striker. And i mean't start the bidding at 10 mill for Shawcross. Remember it's been rumoured everywhere he'll probably cost anyone about 20 mill.

I'd be very supprised if we were interested in any of these players. Caughtoffside.com probably get their articles of Kraptalk. That's how reliable they are.

one, this was a while ago, two- he said no official offers, three, the reports state that he has already agreed personal termsand agrred to come and liverpool have recently made a bid.

I said earlier that Liverpool are puching for deals for Elia and Wolfs, however the later seems to be going to Napoli instead(thankfull).
Marveaux and Elia to be compled on the same day which will be sometime this week.

Elia stays!"

The problem with your assertion is that you are reading from a garbled translation and jumping to conclusions. All he said was that there are no official offers on the table. No one knows whether one will be made or not and there was certainly no categorical denial of Elia's possible transfer.

Liverpool are swooping for Aston Villa winger Ashley Young and Stoke City's Ryan Shawcross despite Roy Hodgson's uncertain future.
According to the Sunday Mirror, the Reds' new American owners, who have drafted in director of football and chief scout Damien Comolli, will rely on the Frenchman to make the moves this January and they will continue with their transfer plans whether or not Hodgson survives the managerial cull.
Comolli, the man famous for talent spotting the likes of Luka Modric and Gareth Bale during his stint at Spurs, has already identified Young as a potential signing and will compete with Manchester United for the £15million rated player.
Also high on Liverpool's wish-list is Stoke centreback Shawcross but United could also usurp the deal as they have first option on the defender who joined the Potters from Old Traffrod.
The new Liverpool hierarchy are determined to recruit the best British talent coming through the ranks and their principle target is England Under-21 striker Daniel Sturridge, who has already told Chelsea he wants to join the Reds on loan after making a paltry two league starts in two seasons with the West Londoners.
