Ed002 mate do you know of interest in Lille's Soumare? French press have Liverpool's name on a list of interested clubs but I have my doubts, can't see where he'd fit in.
Thanks a lot.

{Ed002's Note - Boubakary Soumare (DM/CM) - Soumare is being touted around the clubs that have money to spend and several have spoken with Lille but want the €60M asking price reduced. His "agent" (and I use the term loosely) says the player has no interest in joining Spurs or Arsenal but his client is the ideal replacement for Pogba or Kante and is attracted by the money available to players in England. Ironically both Spurs anbd Arsenal took a look at him - but he was not first choice for either. Valencia, Real Madrid and Napoli are others who have been looking at him on a regular basis - but price is an issue. Until the summer Manchester City had an interest since he was at PSG and it was suggested he could fill the role of Yaya Toure well. Monaco saw him as a Bakayoko replacement but have stepped back. Brands wanted him at Everton but was forced down the Gbamin route by an advisor. Liverpool were also approached and have discussed the price with his agent but he would have to be a replacement for Fabinho - and that was a few months ago. Milan, Newcastle and Leicester made enquiries - and Newcastle were close to a deal in January and may push again this summer to reach an agreement with Lille. There is an issue Lille need to resolve before selling him - and his price must drop.

Kante you think he’s not wanted at Chelsea?

Questions for ed002. With Shane Duffy off to celtic. Could that possibly open a door for Liverpool to move for K. Ajer?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Kristoffer Ajer (CB) really wants a move this summer and agents have been offering him around. Milan see Ajer as a cheaper option to their primary target but funds may not stretch as they look to sell players and buy lower priced alternatives or include players in the deal. With other options falling by the wayside, Ajar is of interest to Leicester. Top of the list for Atletico Madrid - but only if they lose a CB - which they are trying to avoid. Previous interest of Spurs, Newcastle and Ajax has moved on. He does offer an option for Liverpool but I am not aware of any approach just yet - Celtic will be looking for £20M plus - but the door is indeed ajar for Ajer.

Thanks for your reply Ed, the pun didn't go a miss. ha.

Ed002, aren't Celtic interested in Awoniyi? Perhaps a swap deal could work, obviously with Liverpool also paying Celtic a fee on top.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - For a player Liverpool have no declared interest in. Liverpool need cash so selling Awoniyi is a great as he has no meaningful future at Liverpool. The loan to Mainz has not worked out well – but a Celtic enquiry a couple of months ago saw a large fee being requested.}

Nice pun, lovely stuff, not my words Ed. The words of Alan Gordon Partridge.

Ed002 you've repeatedly say that his loan to Mainz didn't work out well, but after the Bundesliga restart in May/ June it did go well. He scored off the bench and then got into the starting 11 for four games in a row only to be knocked unconscious and miss the last 3 with concussion. But it seems he was popular there as his teammates dedicated their win over Dortmund in his honour. Hope he finds a good club, Celtic wasn't the right move for him anyway.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Getting in to the team for four games in a row is hardly a success. He completed 90 minutes only twice and was not in the squad, a substitute or substituted the remainder of the season playing a total of less than five and a half hours football in the Bundesliga last season. All a bit of disaster I am afraid.}

"Ronald Koeman, the Barcelona head coach, will seek to capitalise on the contract stalemate between Liverpool and Georginio Wijnaldum by signing the midfielder. While there has been no official club to club contact, Koeman is expected to push the Barcelona board to make a firm enquiry. The development could open the way for Thiago Alcantara to replace Wijnaldum at Liverpool" Paul Joyce. Looks like Wij could be on his way for Thiago, will be sad to see him go.

Differing stories from the local nd Dutch/ Spanish press. Local saying that there has been no contact whatsoever from Barcelona yet the foreign guys seem to think he has sorted terms on the wage and length of his contract. Surely the contract agreement can't be true if Liverpool havnt talked with Barca, which means they cudnt have given Barcelona and Koeman permission to speak to the player.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - They can agree details with his agent but my understanding is that there has been no approach to Liverpool at this time.}

What a shame Wij is apparently leaving, he has been outstanding the last few years and it will be a sad day when he does go, but i will for one wish him all the best, he has helped bring champions league, world club and premier league titles to us. YNWA.

He will do very well at Barca. He is a terrific player when his shackles are off. scores goals for fun. Koeman knows how to use him.

Obvious question Ed but you would expect contact to Liverpool would follow.

{Ed002's Note - There is a good chance - but they could just look to wait until January and look to agree a Free Agent deal. Right now they are dealing with other matters.}

I do like Gini a lot but find it difficult to say he has been consistently outstanding for years. I can recall too many games when he's gone missing, read too many player ratings articles in which he got a 6. He has been outstanding in plenty of games as well, and i love the way he holds onto the ball in midfield, but I genuinely think that Thiago is a big upgrade on Gini. He can do everything Gini can do and more, and better. I wish Gini well, but if Thiago arrives in his place I'm more than happy with that. I know he's a different kind of player and more of an attacking goal threat, but Gini just doesn't have the same range of passing from midfield.

PS: Check out the recent video of Thiago and Rodri in Spain training, nonchalantly volleying the ball to each other across the pitch.

Never ceases to amaze me how some people see a rumour and take it as gospel, already waving goodbye to Wijnaldum.
He's still very much a Liverpool player and unless anything changes he will remain so. Despite what crap appears on Twatter or any other clickbait sites.

Paul Joyce isn't a clickbait source. He's Liverpool's correspondent for the Times. Only reports when something is 100%.

he doesn’t have a contract from the end of this season Flash so it very much looks like he’s off - just a matter of when and Ed’s have confirmed Klopp wants Thiago Prob once we get some money from sales.

Hi Ed's, surely by waiting until January it gives other clubs the chance to steal in. Also, what does the player do? Sit tight and leave on a sour note? Just hope we get the deal done asap.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Well the club get another year out of the player. Plenty of transfers happen this way.}
