Eds002 is it true we're close to signing Todd cantwell?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - I know there has been a discussion with another PL side but I suspect if Liverpool interest has returned then it will be driven by cost as he would be cheaper than other options. It is difficult to see why Liverpool would look to such a player at this time.}

Yep. That just about sums it up nicely.

The only reason I think we might sign him is that he’s homegrown. but this signing doesn’t fill me with much confidence if I’m honest 🥴.

Not saying its true VVVV but cheaper doesn't necessarily rubbish.

Where has this rumour come from? I've not seen or heard it anywhere.

There are bargains to be had occasionally, but they’re few and far between and this lad isn’t one of them.

I can’t see what he adds? Not a prolific scorer, not tremendously skilful, not particularly quick, just a very ordinary run of the mill English footballer. If he wasn’t English we wouldn’t even look at him.

He’s hardly been a stand out player this season and didn’t really set the world alight the last time Norwich were in the premier league. The fact that he’s been dropped by the manager for his poor attitude says enough.

To be fair VVVV it's hard to argue with your points. Only thing I'll counter with is that they are always struggling and it's their defenders that seem to get the praise. Godfrey, Aaron's and Lewis etc. As for his attitude Sadio had them problems too. Might just need a change of scenery to reinvigorate himself.

Is it just me but there seems to be so many experts on here regarding the finances of LFC and FSG. Not so long ago we bought VVD and AB for world record prices, who'd have thought and LFC are extending the Anfield Rd stand, which will have to be paid in stage payments. Not a sign of penury. Okay C.V. hit hard but no fan knows at this stage what the Nike deal is realising. Have the fans been buying kits for the family with their spare cash because they couldn't go to pubs etc.

VVVV some of your posts make me want to slit my throat, they are so depressing. You state as facts, that only a senior member of the organisation would know!

Wirralean what did he say he that made you think it was depressing. He was simply stating facts. That an average footballer is average. Like he says, he has been dropped by Norwich. BY NORWICH.

Alk rhe above reminds me I read similar, many times, when wini, Robertson, Ox, even Mane and many others were signed.
Perhaps Klopp knows one or two things more than us? Has not earned the benefit of the doubt fir these kind if deals?

{Ed0666's Note - whose wini?

VVVV can you name an average player that Liverpool have bought in the past three seasons purely because the player was cheap.

I suppose The lad from Preston could be considered but that was more of a stop gap signing because we had lost our first four CB choices. Other than that I’m open to suggestions.

I don't pretend to know the financial ins and outs, but I feel like if we are going to be adding anyone in January, unless it is someone who will start then I think we should only expect cheaper options. The club won't, and nor should they, splash cash on what will effectively be squad players.

I would avoid him in a heartbeat. Terrible attitude by all accounts and has downed tools multiple times for Norwich. He isn't any better than the homegrown player we already have at the club and coming through.

I’m going to go against the green here and say when ever I’ve watched cantwell his running with the ball has impressed me
Sure he’s no worldly
But he would have his uses within our squad especially when naby and Thiago can’t stay fit Henderson and Milner should never play in the same midfield ever
Thought Milner had a decent game against Chelsea Henderson was not so good
Cantwell very similar to Curtis Jones but I feel the club may look to play Jones from the left in the absence of mane
Wouldn’t be disappointed with cantwell but on the same hand not overjoyed

Could come in and do a job IMO.

We have :

GK: Ali, Kelleher, Adrian, Pitulagi

RB: TAA, Neco, Bradley

LB: Robbo, Tsimikas, Beck

CB: VVD, Konate, Matip, Gomez, Phillips

Mid: Hendo, Fabs, Thiago, Ox, Keita, Millie, Curtis, Elliot, Morton

Att: Mo, Sadio, Bobby, Diogo, Div, Taki

Plus a number of kids not listed who have made their debuts over the past 18 - 24 months.

Of course there are players there who can double up as midfielders or attackers.

Given that we have 29 players listed above and not much money to waste on overpriced back-up players who a) don’t represent value for money and b) would probably hinder / block the path of our younger players why would we be in a rush to buy?

Any information on Liverpool being interested in Sergej Milinković-Savić Ed?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - There isn't any Liverpool interest.}

Of course we'd be interested in a good player. Never be able to afford him so the admiring looks is as far as it will go. We might be able to afford a pair of football boots for him to wear at whatever club he ends up at.
