Lots of reporting this afternoon Lemar has chosen Liverpool as his preferred destination. Eds do you think there is any mileage in a jan transfer or has this come from his agents office.

Believable11 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - His agent has not said anything like that - I understand that it has come from a journalist who says Klopp has spoken with the player. As you know the player is of interest to Liverpool.}

03 Jan 2018 18:02:15
Well that sounds like tapping up. Obviously Jürgen not sticking to his New Years resolution if true!

Coming from Duncan castles I saw, who's full of rubbish when it comes to Liverpool news.

Duncan Castle full of tosh on everything. He can’t see past his Jose blinkers.

Duncan Castles is nothing more than a troublesome Mourinho mouthpiece. Ask ManU fans what he was like for them prior to the arrival of Jose.

A guy called Duncan castle is reporting it all over Twitter, apparently, so it's spread everywhere, Google him and decide yourselves lol.

If we are to lose Coutinho, Eds do you think it’s would be a good shout to ask for Umtiti as part of the deal and if so do you think Barcelona would sell him?

Believable2 Unbelievable5

{Ed002's Note - (a) No and (b) Yes if they get the replacement they want - but he won't be moving to Liverpool.}

03 Jan 2018 19:49:00
I just want to say Phil Countinho is a fantastic player, saved our season few years ago when we signed him in JAN window i think.

Nothing wrong with a player wanting to move, I've done that in my working career always striving for a better job and better pay and conditions. and a footballers career doesn't span as much - nothing wrong with his desire.

Thanks for your service Phil if you go.

But there's ways of doing it.

Agree6 Disagree2

04 Jan 2018 00:33:40
I just hope we do a deal for next summer so Phil can put in a good run with us for top 4 and CL without the stress of worrying about his dream move knowing it's done. It's not in him to dog the second half of the season. I think it would be a great farewell for him with supporters and would cement his status with the club. I think if he goes in January some will hold it against him.

Agree3 Disagree1

04 Jan 2018 12:31:10
Stay to summer, deep run in Champions League then take the big move. Both sets of fans will respect you.

Hi Eds, just heard that we are officially interested in Alisson. Is it possible that we land him this winter?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - unlikely.}

03 Jan 2018 10:40:45
Do you think the club want Philippe Coutinho gone this January transfer window? All this can't be good for squad moral. For me the Summer would have made sense for all 3 parties, but Coutinho just wants out now. If he does stay and does not play all January then that won't help the club, as when he comes back, he's not going to be match fit again. Just got to get rid now.

Believable2 Unbelievable1

03 Jan 2018 11:00:34
I want to keep him but if we sell him i hope we get keita now.

Agree11 Disagree1

03 Jan 2018 11:17:53
We took a risk in the summer and in fairness it paid off as his attacking stats this season have been his best yet and unbelievably his defensive stats have been very similar to last season. However if we keep him this window I'm not sure if it will pay off again and could very easily come back to haunt us. It's a massive decision and I'm glad it's not me making it.

Agree7 Disagree3

03 Jan 2018 11:52:48
I think whatever happens the club will want everything done out of the spotlight, last summer was ridiculous, if I was running the club I would be making it very clear to Coutinho that anymore antics by himself or his “concerned” family will only complicate matters and reduce the chance of a transfer, also make it perfectly clear to Barcelona what the price is and once it’s met they can have him and make it clear as well that we won’t accept any of this to be played out in public by them or anyone connected to them.

Hello everyone,
Never been consistant enough of a user of this site to create a profile but think it's time so go easy Ed's n reds. From Liverpool and had a couple people tell me now to expect Ryan Kent back so Salah can play the Coutinho role till end of season and Kent will play out on the wing? Is this a realistic possibility?

Believable1 Unbelievable8

{Ed001's Note - the only realistic possibility there is that he might well be coming back.}

03 Jan 2018 12:00:49
No chance mate - I expect Lallana will slot into Coutinhos attacking midfield role and Mane, Firmino and Salah continue upfront with Ox rotating in midfield or upfront to keep things fresh.

Kent is in no way ready and the fact he can’t get game time at Freiburg is indication of that.

Agree8 Disagree0

03 Jan 2018 12:18:52
I agree with Ed001. Salah is banging in the goals at the minute so would be unrealistic to move him into couts role. I could see Bobby dropping into the number 10 role, it's his natural position and we bring in another for the front 3,with that being said Bobby is brilliant in his position so taking a risk moving him now. Id like to see couts stay till the summer, agree something with Barcelona now and get a replacement now if possible to give them time to bed in. We've got more to lose than Barcelona in the sense that there flying at the top of la liga, couts can't play CL for them so we need to protect ourselves.

03 Jan 2018 12:19:26
I do really like Kent and would like to see him given a shot.

03 Jan 2018 12:46:38
you mean Cout's midfield role? Or wide left-sided forward? No way Salah would suit the former. I can think of a few players that would, though.

04 Jan 2018 15:34:04
Jurgen, Couts doesn’t suit his midfield role so why bother replacing it? He weakens the midfield and we just look unbalanced. Great player but needs to be in the front 3. We already have quality up there so we can live without Couts.

Hi Ed’s

Do you you expect us to move for a striker as well as a replacement for Pipco if we move Sturridge and/ Ings?
I’m more than happy with Sokanke as he looks like he will grow to be a great player, and I think once he hits the net a couple of times he could get on a run, could be wishful thinking but perhaps our Harry Kane 😀

Thanks

Andy O.

Believable4 Unbelievable2

{Ed001's Note - if both go, yes.}

03 Jan 2018 10:31:49
If Sturridge goes than how about Walcott, he is experienced, scores and has pace but has a fair few injuries.

{Ed001's Note - is this a serious suggestion?}

03 Jan 2018 11:15:05
Please stop saying pipco.

If Walcott's not available then why don't we go for Shane Long?
He scored last night.

Agree12 Disagree11

03 Jan 2018 11:57:25
If Sturridge and Ings go, maybe we should give Rhian Brewster a shot at being 3rd choice striker? Maybe that could convince him his future is here and not at Juventus or Dortmund? If we sign a senior player to be 3rd pick instead of using the academy, then i think we will just justify Brewster's decision to leave. How often does a third choice striker play? Sturridge and Ings must have less than 700 minutes combined this season! Is Brewster not ready for a few sub appearances each month?

Agree4 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - the interest is still there but I doubt he will be sold before the summer.}

03 Jan 2018 08:35:41
Hi Eds, Happy New Year to you all. Do you know if the club have looked at Insigne as it a replacement for Coutinho and if so, whether he would be at all interested in a move away from Napoli?

Many thanks.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - if he was looking for a move away from Naples, LFC would be among a large group of clubs who would be interested.}

03 Jan 2018 01:10:00
Depending on how different pieces fall into place, I understand Spurs will consider offers above a certain price for Alli. this is dependent on the availability and price of his replacement (and more likely the summer).

i also understand it's incredibly unlikely Spurs would sell to us (2nd only to Arsenal).

Believable1 Unbelievable15

03 Jan 2018 03:00:38
I always liked Alli but not sure we need him at the price Tottenham would want for him. Plus we’ll need him to work a little harder in defence rather than playing his free role further forward ahead of two dedicated DMs.

03 Jan 2018 08:04:46
Can I ask where all these Dele Ali rumours are coming from? How much would spurs want for him £100m plus I would think.

Agree2 Disagree1

03 Jan 2018 08:27:34
Grobs24, Alli played in a box to box midfield role for MK before he moved to Spurs. He is more than capable and works very hard for Spurs already. Spurs are the only team who press as hard as we do, in Europe. The only worry i would have is that Alli and Keita in midfield might be a little hot headed. Both have a tendency to make naughty tackles every so often.

Having said that though, perhaps we've missed that nastiness in midfield? We haven't had a couple of tough tacklers since 2009 when we had Gerrard and Mascherano nailing people all over the park 😂 I'm forever hearing about an apparent lack of steel. You throw the aggressive pressing of Ox, Firmino and Lallana alongside that duo and it'll be a blood bath every weekend!

Agree6 Disagree8

03 Jan 2018 09:09:42
Agree MK - think he could do it, but it would definitely require an adjustment from his current role. In fact, I would bet he’d be very good at it once he’d adjusted (as Ox seems to have done), but I also agree I think Keita will give us exactly that already hence why we don’t need him.

Agree2 Disagree1

03 Jan 2018 09:33:57
Forget alli. I think isco from Madrid would be an ideal couts replacement. great holding on to the ball and and can pick a pass. exactly what we need trust me 😜.

I really think there are better options than Ali. Thankfully, Ali to Liverpool will not happen.

I’d rather Eriksen than Alli, infinitely better footballer without the propensity to lose his rag.

I know an MK Dons season ticket holder who watched him come through and he told me after Alli's first season at Spurs that they were wasting him. He swears blind that Alli has the potential to be as good as Zidane in central midfield, and that playing him in what is basically a Lampard type role off a striker, wastes his ability to dictate the game. I only watched him once at MK Dons (more of a Cobbler, myself) and i have to say, as a midfielder he looked closer in terms of style to Vidal than Zidane in my opinion, but i didn't watch him live 20+ times like my friend did.

I've heard that a lot of coaches at MK Dons even thought he could end up as a holding midfielder because of his tenacity and stature. He's very versatile. He also links up well with Lallana when i see them play together in an England shirt. So i wouldn't be against the signing. I still don't think there is any truth in it whatsoever. You know how it is. Get linked with Goretzka, Alli and Ceballos. Sign Rafinha instead!

I don’t know how anyone can compare Alli with Zidane, someone in MK has been smoking far too much 👨‍🚀.

Would need to sign a second player to cover all the time he us banned when his protected status goes and he gets the red cards he should be getting. Talented but petulant and nasty in some of his on pitch behaviour.
