Takeover to make Liverpool Wealthiest Club in the World (if G&H accept)

Liverpool stand to become the most powerful club in world football if the takeover deal with a Far East Sovereign Wealth fund is completed.

The deal currently being negotiated by Kenny Huang, and his Far East partner has already laid the blueprint to make Liverpool the wealthiest club on the planet.

Happy Days if u ask me

we just need a bit decent signings .. and really this huang guy . I just have a feeling that he might be playing . . like going into public .. I would rather prefer Ambani . . . and we need 2 or 3 players OnlY ..

I would prefer 3 or 4 from these . not more than that and We are IN!

To this guy:

"when you are from Liverpool and the club is so rooted in the everyday life of the city and those who live here its hard to accept that there are games you can't get tickets for that people who dont even live here can."

I'm a New Zealander living in London and for my sins, I watch this rumour site day and night. I understand that many fewer season tickets were sold this year than last. If I lived in Liverpool I would have sacrificed as much as was needed to get a season ticket. I hope the stadium is the first priority for whoever takes over the club as hopefully then there would be enough tickets going around to enable any die hard LFC fan to get one when they wanted it, and the club will have a revenue stream (once paid off of course) to continue the legacy of the mighty Reds.

I found this on SportingIntelligence Website
A reported approach by a Chinese businessman, Jian-hua 'Kenny' Huang, to buy Liverpool is shrouded in confusion as sources in China and America have told sportingintelligence that he does not have the money to buy the club, that he declined to sign a confidentiality clause requested of all interested parties, and that "it is simply not plausible" that he can effectively strike a deal with RBS bank in order to take control.
Some reports have claimed that Huang is a billionaire and that he owns a 15 per cent stake in the Cleveland Cavaliers NBA basketball franchise.
In fact he is not a billionaire, and has never owned any shares in the Cavaliers, and there are no plans for him to own any in the future.
One source in China says: "Kenny has no capability of buying Liverpool."
A different Chinese businessman, Albert Hung, made an offer to buy a stake in the Cavaliers more than a year ago, but even that deal hasn't gone through.
"Kenny was never the main investor, nor in fact did he ever have any personal financial involvement in such a deal at all," one source says.
Huang has a commercial connection with the Cavaliers as the middleman who introduced the Cavs to a beer company to do a sponsorship deal, but he has never owned any stake in any major sports franchise.
Huang owns a company in Hong Kong, QSL Sports Limited, which describes itself as a "sports investment company" but its simple website, which hasn't been updated in several months, ceased working today, with users given the message: "The server is temporarily unable to service your request due to the site owner reaching his/her bandwidth limit."
QSL Sports Limited's main interests to date have been in promoting China's second-tier semi-professional basketball league (the NBL), and in promoting a new Chinese youth league in baseball (CYBL); baseball is still a fledgling sport in the country.
Until May this year, QSL's co-founder and primary financial backer was a bona fide billionaire businessman, Adrian Cheng, whose family have been ranked by Forbes as the 112th richest family in the world, worth $7.7bn.
But Cheng and Huang parted company two months ago and a QSL statement at the time said: "QSL co-founder Mr. Adrian Cheng will no longer be involved in QSL's businesses and development and its related charitable foundations. QSL will now be 100 per cent owned by Mr. Kenny Huang."
Skeptical sources in China claim that Huang only came to prominence as a front man for an unnamed wealthy Hong Kong family within the past couple of years and that he no longer has that association.
Sources in London with an understanding of what Kenny Huang apparently hopes to achieve at Liverpool say he has offered to effectively buy Liverpool's debt of £237m from RBS, cutting out any involvement in a formal bidding process being handled by Barclays Capital under the direction of Liverpool's chairman Martin Broughton.
Yet even those close to Huang cannot explain how buying the debt from RBS would definitely hand him or his backers control of the club. One RBS source described as "absolute bollocks" the idea that RBS would unilaterally sell Liverpool's debt to Huang or had been involved in advanced talks to do so.
The club's American owners, Tom Hicks and George Gillett, owe RBS £237m as a result of what was effectively their leveraged buyout, and the pair have also subsequently leant Liverpool another £144m via a Cayman Islands branch of their Liverpool investment vehicle, according to accounts for the financial year ending summer 2009.
It has been claimed that Huang has the backing of an unnamed Asian sovereign wealth fund, which if true could put billions at his disposal. The operative words are "if true".
If an Asian sovereign wealth fund wanted to buy Liverpool, why would it not go via conventional channels, namely BarCap and Broughton?
Why would it use Huang as a front man, when he has no previous history of sports deals on the scale of a Premier League football club?
Why would it let him effectively manage its funds?
These are all questions that may or may not be answered in the coming weeks.
Liverpool insiders at the highest level insist there are multiple interested parties involved in talks about buying the club and that a preferred bidder should emerge in due course, perhaps within a few weeks.
Due diligence on any bidder, and their ability to take to club forward, specifically in funding a new 60,000-plus seat stadium that could cost up to £400m "is of the utmost importance, now more than ever" one source said.
"There is formal process and BarCap runs it," said another source. "You cannot simply go to RBS or Wachovia or Bank of America and try to do a unilateral deal because it won't work and it won't stack up.
"Mr Huang did not want to sign a confidentiality agreement and you have to ask why."
A source who knows Huang well said: "Kenny is good at making deals, as in facilitating deals for other people. He would certainly be capable of bringing people together. But Kenny is also very, very good at promoting Kenny."

In response to:
"if mukesh ambani is still bidding, would be great to see him as the new owner.he is the 4th richest man in the world.owns a ipl(indian premier league)cricket team which topped the league.

Yeah but they didn't win!"

Yes they did not win the IPL, but what is more important is that they have the most talented group of players (including Sachin Tendulker). This clearly demonstrates the style and mindset of the man.

P.S. He and his family is always present in the games and cheers the team at the top of their voice.

I can't believe I am actually writing on this page, I have read it for about 5 years now and never posted anything. I wouldnt claim to have any inside info and even know a few players and ex players, especially a certain irish international who I prayed to God would do well...... But, to hear someone going on about woolies and Irish on the Kop makes me sick. I am from a family of Man Utd fans but am the proudest red around, the fact that i am irish makes no difference.... Why don't you try to think about the great Irish players we have had and maybe how much money us paddies contribute to the club in terms of tickets/shirts etc..... I wish Roy and the lads all the best for the season and even if we don't get the world class players we deserve and are fighting mid table I will still leave the Kop with no voice every week.... Hi Guys,

Firstly, thanks to the Awesome Ed for all of the hard work with the site, and especially for the LFC page.

Not so much a rumour but information that SSN have just reported re the takeover;

LFC have given official notice of a takeover bid to the Premier League. This is a new thing that was brought in after the problems that Portsmouth have had, whereby a club has to give 10 days notification to the PL that a takeover bid has been submitted, so that the bidders can be vetted by the PL to demonstrate their long-term ability to finance the club.

There was no mention of who the bidders were, but it would seem logical to assume that at the very least there is a concrete bid on the table that the club are taking seriously enough to start putting the wheels in motion for, and the 10 day timing adds credibility to some of the other rumours going around that a takeover will be complete by the end of next week.

Any thoughts or further information much appreciated.

News from China is looking very positive. Despite the counter PR tactics from the (desperate) Gillett, Huang's offer is now looking like it will after all be accepted and the wheels are now very much in motion. Signings this window have not yet been discussed due to no actual figure being agreed, but it is certain that Hodgson will be given a substantial amount that will "ensure Liverpool can compete on all fronts" this coming season. Huang tight comrades, and here's hoping to bright times for LFC. Will post as soon as i hear the latest.

IN RESPONSE TO:

We all keep mentioning La Liga possible transfer targets and Premiership players but theres one very decent forgotten target in Scarface Ribery!!

I AGREE, THIS WOULD HAVE BEEN A GREAT MOVE. UNFORTUNATELY FRANCK RIBERY AND KARIM BENZEMA ARE FACING SOME VERY DODGY LOOKING SEX OFFENCE CHARGES. NOBODY WILL GO NEAR THEM UNTIL CHARGES ARE DROPPED OR THEY GET RELEASED!

Hi ed, guys,
Great idea ed, just what us liverbirds need!
Anyways, its being reported that the insua deal has fallen thriugh and fiorentina have confirmed this! does this mean that we will probably not now sign a new LB as we will have both insua and aurellio?? would be a crying shame if so! also according to wikipedia poulsen is a liverpool player, whats the deal with that?? i honestly cant see us getting defour as i do not think ferguson would let us swipe him from under his nose considering the ground work he has put in! but i do see poulsen being a real possibility although he is 30 i still think he would be a good signing or if not then maybe witsel! I really hope someone comes in for insua as i think he is just too slow and caught ball watching too much, thus allowing our LB signing, hopefully salcido or lopez! also being reported that a possible takeover is somewhat imminent, could it be done this quickly does anyone know and if so is it so we will have as much of the window as possible for some big signings as they would require some time to sort out i'm sure! sheikh mohammed would be my prefered investor but i think if it were huang he would be the one most likely to try make a couple of big big signings! and i do also believe that we will try to sign crouchie again!

Possible team

Reina

Johnson, Carra, Agger, Aurelio/LB

Poulsen

kuyt/Jovanovic, Gerrard, Cole

Torres, Babel/Crouch??

I do hope that we will make a couple more signings and hopefully a striker with some decent quality to support the brilliant nando! And here's hoping for a great season and hopefully good things will come to those who have waited!! Please feel free to comment and give your opinions,

Henno, Red forever!

We all keep mentioning La Liga possible transfer targets and Premiership players but theres one very decent forgotten target in Scarface Ribery!!

He had a world cup to forget about and having played in France, Germany and Turkey- he would want to prove himself in either Premiership or La Liga.

30m for a world class wideman with the pace n power to cut it in the premiership. At 27 yrs of age could be a v good bit of business.

thoughts ED?

As far as getting Woolies and Irish off the Kop - I can relate to the guy who first said this, when you are from Liverpool and the club is so rooted in the everyday life of the city and those who live here its hard to accept that there are games you can't get tickets for that people who dont even live here can. However, we can't complain if we end up with Arab, Chinese or Indian owners can we! Would love the fans to own the club, S.O.S, (most of us are from the city)- but dont see it happening this time

To the person who said the above, please think before you post... If you'd bother to look through the History "Irish" have both in Liverpool City and with "L.F.C.", you'd see how narrow minded your comments are... I myself travel to alot of LEAGUE/EUROPEAN games at great expense to see MY club... Just because I'm not from Liverpool does not mean I'm not a true/real supporter... Just remember if L.F.C was not a worldwide brand it would be more like hello Championship, not champions league!!
Money = wages......

King Kenny=Scottish
Nicol=Scottish
Hansen=Scottish
Souness=Scottish
Rush=Welsh
Aldrige=Irish
Whealan=Irish
Houghton=Irish
Lawro=Irish
Torres=Spanish

Now are you telling me these guys (TO NAME BUT A FEW) do not love L.F.C like you because there not from Liverpool??

Two things:

1) I wish the Arda Turan rumours would stop. It's never going to happen. Liverpool have never shown interest in him, all that happened was he said he'd like to play for Liverpool. Anyone who thinks that Roy Hodgson would make such a risky, expensive purchase has no idea about the way he manages.

2) Kenny Huang looks to market Liverpool in China if his bid is accepted, potentially making Liverpool the biggest club in the world by working with huge companies such as Apple and Walmart, helping them to establish a market in China. This is a chance that Liverpool will not get again, and it could be missed because of Hicks and Gillett's reluctance to sell without making a profit.

The Liverpool takeover is very close. They have already informed the premier league. Just to remind people Liverpool have plenty of home grown players because players under 21 don't increase the number of players in the squad.Home grown players include Gerrard,Cole,Carragher,Shelvey,Insua,Bouzanis, Gulacsi,Johnson,Darby,Kelly,Eccleston,Spearing, Wilson,Amoo,Robinson,Irwin and Ince. The Insua deal has been confirmed to have fallen through. The new owners will give Hodgson 35 million to spend. Mascherano will stay.

Not a rumour but more of how the team may be set up and strenghtened if a buyer comes in on time or not,we all know the positions we need to strenghten pending on the sale of Masch or some real cash flow..
Firstly Carragher he is a legend and always will be but is really slowing down and causing goals ,pens etc also a left full as most teams attacked us down the left side because of the lack of pace of Insua,a left winger and a good back up striker.

Possible team with sale of Masch..
Not bad a bit stronger and more positive attacking

Reina

Johnnson Agger Skertle Figuerroa
Cole Gerrard Ireland Turan
Aqualaini
Torres

actually the end of the transfer window is 31st august. the day the players have to be registered to the premier league is 1st september, 24 hours after the transfer deadline.

gerrard, carragher, johnson, cole, spearing (aged 22), insua (could still stay and trained at the club 3 years before his 21st birthday).

we currently have a squad of 21 players (excluding degen, el zhar, plessis, mascherano)

6 of those are classed as home grown. 2 of our youngsters can be added to that to make up the numbers if we dont sign any english players

Whether it is Kenneth Huang, prince faisal or Sheikh mohammad - i dont know, but Broughton and BARCAP are very close to agreeing a sale with one of the bidders. Torres has announced hes staying, and LFC have informed the premier league a change of ownership is imminent, meaning they will fulfill the 10 day notice period at the end of next week (Friday august 13). All signs pointing to a takeover before the premier league season begins. Come saturday 14th August LFC will have completely overhauled the club - new sponsor, new manager, new owner and a couple new players in the dressing room (hopefully a few more before the window closes). Liverpool fans finally have something to smile about :)

Not a rumour but just an observation!

I find it funny reading all the posts from manure, chelski and arsenal fans regarding which of liverpool, man city and spurs are going to finish 4th next year. We are close to building up a very solid and balanced team for the coming season, spurs have every chance of doing well and to be honest city have a team now which can either be unbeatable this year or implode in itself. what im trying to say is that the way things are looking it could be either of arsenal, united or chelsea who are fighting for 4th spot...united are very quiet in the market this summer and if they dont make any signings they could have the weakest team theyv had in years...arsenal have a serious amount of uncertainty about the team this year with regards to fabregas and as we saw last season how injury prone they are...chelsea have lost a few players this summer and although they still have a good squad, theyre still beatable.

With regards to future signings, theres not too much tweaking needed on the current set up...possibly a solid left back, versatile midfielder and a proven striker...nothing really new to say there that people in the forum havent said already!

In response to everyone posting about a takeover being imminent based on contact with the PL..... READ THE STATEMENTS AGAIN!

The club have stated that they have received up to 6 bids. In line with these new PL rules, it makes sense that all 6 of those parties contact the Prem to introduce themselves at least!

Take a collective deep breath my fellow Reds. It wont be long now, but this snippet released by SSN (see online) is actually a piece relating to the Prem League - NOT an imminent LFC takeover. Its just the bidders being sensible.

We know that bidders will want closure by 31st August, so sit tight.

Javier Mascherano > Inter Milan
Javier has handed in a transfer request and will be joining Inter Milan for a fee believed to be around 28 Million pounds

Ever Banega > Liverpool
Roy Hodgson will need to replace Javier Macherano before the season starts in 2 weeks. Rafa benitez had been chasing the creative argentinian and he was meant to be joining the reds this summer. Roy Hodgson has been aware of the previous interest. It would be very convenient considering Javier's soon departure and also Steven Gerrard wouldn't mind playing in Javier's role as Alberto Aquilani will be playing more for the reds this season after some impressive displays last season. Roy Hodgson is a fan of the young player and would rather not buy the soon to be 30 year old Scott Parker who will be valued at around 15 million pounds. Ever is believed to be joining the reds for a fee of around £8.5 Million

Andres Guardado > Liverpool
Roy's interest in Andres is apparently one at the top of the list and is relying on the sale of Javier Mascherano to pay the 18 million price tag for the mexican.

Liverpool will be signing 2 players that can play on the Left midfield and also as center forward roles. Names that are apparently on Roy's Target list are..
Andres Guardado (18 Million)
Ashley Young (12 Million)
Shaun Wright-Phillips (10 Million)

All depending on the sale of Javier Mascherano.

Liverpool have been given permission by Juventus to talk to midfielder Christian Poulsen, according to the latest reports emanating from the peninsula.

Juve have formally given the green light to the Merseyside club to talk to the 30-year-old, according to Sky Sport Italia. The midfield hardman is reportedly deemed surplus to requirements by new coach Luigi Del Neri in Turin for the upcoming 2010-11 season.

It's also been reported that Juventus will enter into negotiations with Liverpool over a transfer fee after the player agrees personal terms and conditions with the former European champions.

Juventus signed the Denmark international from Sevilla in 2008 but he has been unable to impress much in his two seasons with the Bianconeri.

fellow liverpool fans worried about the takeover thinking that we will be like man city with lots of money and no class , the unfortunate thing is that if look back at all successful teams they have spent a lot of money , in the 80's liverpool bought the majority of the best players at the highest prices and were constantly winning things , in the 90s it was utds turn to break transfer records and remember blackburn they practically bought the title in 95
then came chelsea , bunch of no hopers , chuck 100 million plus and then they became champions and are still reaping the benefits now, and finally theres man city, well if they continue to spend this short of money in each transfer window then success will untimately come in the end ,so please dont moan that liverpool will be getting bags of money to spend because it aint a bad thing is it folks it puts more pressure on the so called big 3 and the clubs hoping to enter the champions league spots ......and also all you have to do is look at real and barca they have been doing it for years as well .....so all scousers be happy this could be the making of our club because we definately need serious investment now so we can build our new stadium , clear the outstanding debt and get some sort of stability , if this dosent happen soon i can seeing us do a leeds utd or notts forest and end up in the dusty old record books.....ynwa

What you're basically saying is that you have to live in the City to be regarded as good enough to stand on the Kop?
The football club are ingrained in the lifeblood of every supporter, whether they be from Liverpool, North Wales, Norway or Beijing.

That is what makes our club so great, it has such wide potential and sucks people in with it's heritage, history, honour and respect.

Saddens me when we get muppets slagging others on this forum when in the past we were widely acknowledged as the best supporters in the world, who loved ther banter and supported their team through thick and thin, but would still stand and applaud outstanding opposition players if they had a blinder.

That's what LFC is about, not where you're from, but who you are. If you're an LFC fan, you're an LFC fan, no better or worse than the next....

The discussion between Liverpool and the Premier League are to comply with new regulations stating the Premier League should be given 10 days notice of any proposed change of ownership for thorough assessment of any proposal.

Just like any other prospective buyer, Kenny Huang's financial backing and capabilities will need to be verified before any sale can be made official and the presumption is that it is his name that has been put forward to the PL. But as I have mentioned in my earlier posts as he is the only identifiable 'buyer' to so far emerge, it would be highly unlikely that he is confirmed as the new owner. Despite Broughton and the club being keen to finalise a deal before the ending to this summer's transfer window, Huang's offer is not only way off the mark for those authorised to deem the sale as appropriate for Liverpool's immediate future (new ground and new players) his premature 'unofficial disclosures' will have done him no favours either.

I don't think we need to go completely crazy in the transfer market. We've got a solid team already with a lot of topnotch youth. Several moves I'd like to see regardless of new owners are:

In:
Steven Defour 12 mil
Arda Turan 12 mil
Davide Santon p/x
Peter Crouch 7 mil
Scott Parker 10 mil

Out:
Insua 4 mil
Maxi 4 mil
Kuyt 12 mil
Mascherano 20 mil + p/x
Kyrgiakos 1 mil
Degen 1 mil
Cavalieri 3 mil
Spearing and Darby loaned out

25 man team would be:
Reina (G)
Gulasci (G)
Hansen (G)
Johnson (RB)*
Kelly (RB, CB)*
Santon (RB, LB)
Carragher (CB, RB)*
Skrtel (CB)
Agger (CB, LB)
Wilson (CB, LB)
Aurelio (LB)
Defour (CM, DM)
Lucas (DM, CM)
Parker (DM)*
Gerrard (CM, AM)*
Cole (LW, CM. AM)*
Turan (RW, LW)
Aquilani (CM, AM)
Shelvey (CM)*
Babel (RW, LW, ST)
Jovanovic (ST, LW)
Pacheco (ST, AM, RW)*
Ngog (ST)*
Crouch (ST)*
Torres (ST)

Great squad with a lot of options and great youth in the wings (Amoo, Ince, Dalla Valle, Robinson, Mavinga to name a few). If we do get a new owner and a gift of additional transfer money, I'd like to see it spent on James Milner instead of Aguero. Pacheco will be all the player Aguero is and more.

To be brutally honest about any possible takeover, I dont really care who it is, as long as 4 things happen:
1 - Hicks and Gilliett, all family members and cronies are out of the club
2 - Someone is put in charge of the club who can really make a difference, perfect example being Niall Quinn at Sunderland, (loves the club but as shrewd as they come). We need a proper management structure to be able to iron out all the wrongs of the last 20 years. There must be loads of ex-pool players who are successful businessmen now, so why not give one of them a go.
3 - I don't really care if new owners pump billions into the club, just give Roy a decent budget to compete
4 - Get the ground sorted, all the fans on waiting lists, turn that into hard cash and let the club generate money itself, rather than relying on some suggar-daddy

If the owners were Asian or Indian, it would allow us to exploit those markets more effectivley

However players i would like to see at liverpool is ribery that would be nice!!

There is so much BS floating around at the moment. Too much wishful thinking on this site. Even if the takeover doesnt go through in time, we should still have enough to get Defour, Crouch and Taiwo, right?

Do we actually need much more than below, unless we get a stella name as well?......

Reina

Johnson Carradonna Agger Taiwo (9m)

Defour (15m) - Gerrard

Cole (Free) - Aquilani - Turan (12m)

Torres

Cavalieri, Crouch (8m), Jovanovic (Free), Babel, Aurelio, Lucas, Wilson (5m), Skrtel, Ngog, Pacheco, Amoo, Shelvey (3m)

This represents a total spend thyis summer of 37m. Mascherano sold for 25m to add to original kitty of 15m. Happy days!

Mukesh Ambani has no background in sport??!! He owns a bloody IPL team!
He would seem to me to be the perfect owner, financially secure and an honourable guy to boot!

Would love the fans to own the club, S.O.S, (most of us are from the city)- but dont see it happening this time

how is most of liverpool fans from liverpool were there could be im just sayin more in usa china etc liverpool have more world wide fans than the fans in liverpool

I believe the league needs notification when there's new board members or change of ownership. I think 10 days also for ownership change so the new owners can provide proof of funds etc and maybe potential new owners and the current board are just setting things up. Hopefully, therefore, there will still be quite some days left in the transfer window once everything has been cleared.

90% of the posts I have read on this page are quite honestly, utterly delusional. just because someone has put a bid in for your club, that does not suddenly mean you will be able to buy 5 or 6 world class players next week. many things can happen:

1) the bid could be rejected
2) if it is bought, the budget is unlikely to be limitless
3) the owners may prioritise a new stadium over transfers
4) the owners may dictate who is bought/ sold

and on top of that, why on earth would the likes of kaka and aguero want to play for a team not featuring in the champion's league? for money/ if that were the case, man city would have been barging down their doors with contracts some time ago.

i do however believe roy hodgeson can do a good job and there will be a very interesting battle for 4th this year. i simply think the majority of you should keep your feet on the ground if only to avoid inevitable disappointment.

Athletico aren't in the champions League either

This is not a rumour as such but more an observation. Whether there is a takeover or not, the finances should be available from sales to field the following team next season. With £5 million from Riera and anyhting between £25 to £30 million for Mascherano, we could afford Taiwo, Defour and Turan.

This team, with good strength in depth backing it up, would win the Premiership.

Reina,
Johnson, Skrtel, Agger, Taiwo,
Defour, Gerrard,
Maxi Turan,
Cole

Just a little stumbling block for all the Liverpool fans who think that the likes of Forlan will be brought to Liverpool if Kenneth Huang or any other buissiness decides to buy Liverpool.

The Premier League has a new rule for this season, Players must sumbit a 25 man squad. Only players submitted will be eligible to play in the league. It must contain a certain amount of homegrown players. Players under the age of 21 do not have to be included in the squad, however they can be to bolster the amount of homegrown players. I was wondering if anyone knew the deadline for the 25 man squad? If it is before the close of the transfer window then I doubt Liverpool would be able to buy these big names before the deadline. However, as I said before, not sure of the deadline?:/

The deadline is the 31st of August as teams have to be allowed to purchase players up until the end of the transfer window. As for the home grown quota of 8 we already have Stevie, Carra, Cole, Johnson, Shelvey, and I think a number of youth players will be given a go so I don't think we need to worry too much about that.

Only players over 21 count so that is Gerrard Carra Cole Johnson Insua Spearing and Darby so they need at least 1 more

i would love to see LFC sign Arda Turan and Ever Banega, surely they are in our reach if we sell mascherano for £30-35million as they would cost around £25million combined fee, that would leave around £5-£10million,
sell of insua? £5million
sell of riera...£4.2million
remaining transfer kitty...£5-£10million
total..let's say £25mil

£20mil+Babel+Maxi
= Sergio Aguero

£5mil for LB

and all that without the takeover. if there is a takeover before the transfer window shuts expect another £20million to spend, but if roy followed my theory through then we wouldn't need any other players to sign, actually maybe we could spend a bit more than £5million on a LB.This team would be capable of winning the premier league.
1.Reina
2.Johnson
3.carragher
4.skrtel
5.Agger
6.Banega
7.Gerrard
8.Turan
9.J.Cole
10.Torres
11.Aguero
any thought's anyone?

A word of caution on the Chinese takeover. Bear with me here!

The fact that they have gone public with their bid, and have disclosed certain information, discredits them in many ways. We have had 3 years of dirty laundry being washed in public, we dont need any more attention seekers.

Secondly, who are the Chinese consortium? We've just had 2 owners who couldnt agree on anything, never mind a whole consortium of them!

Lastly, coming from a business background myself, the most successful organisations are those who keep their cards close to their chests. Im convinced there is still an Arab bidder lurking behind the scenes as one of the 3 bidders who have 'matched the minimum criteria', according to Martin Broughton.

WHOEVER IT IS, the new owners will not be out to build a dream team straight away. Just expect a marque signing to partner Torres, a couple of 1st teamers and more promising youngsters.

Personally, my dream scenario would be if Mourinho came in for Masch and we did a straight swap for XABI ALONSO, but based on realistic expectations, the original 15m which was being made available for transfers (remember that figure?!), income from player sales and an additional marque player (just 1!) assuming the takeover goes through, our summer activity will conclude along these lines....

OUT:
Masch (22m - Inter)
Kuyt (11m - Inter)
Insua (4m - Fiorentina or whoever)
Benayoun (5m - Chelsea)
Riera (4m - Olympiakos)
Nemeth (3m - Olympiakos)
Maxi (3m - Espanol)
El Zhar (2m - Blackpool)
Krygiakos (2m - Greece somewhere)
Degen (1.5m - Stuttgart)
Plessis (1m - France somewhere)
Intanje (Free - Cowdenbeath maybe?)

INCOME: 58.5m + 15m = 70.5m Available

IN:
De Jong (15m)
Turan (12m)
Crouch (10m)
Wickham (8m) (then loaned back to Ipswich)
Figueroa (7m)
Wilson (5m)
Shelvey (3m)
Cole (Free)
Jovanovic (Free)

COST: 60m

Additional Marque Signing

Kun (Ken) Aguero (35m)

Pacheco, Amoo and Gulacsi to be promoted from the reserves to first team squad. 1st team and 25 man squad as below (REALISTICALLY!!)....

Reina
Johnson Carra Agger Figueroa
De Jong
Cole Gerrard Turan
Torres Aguero

Subs (from): Crouch, Jovanovic, Aurelio, Lucas, Wilson, Skrtel, Ngog, Kelly, Spearing, Amoo, Shelvey, Pacheco, Gulacsi (GK), Cavalieri (GK)

If you think this is a good, realistic shout as to the current state of affairs at LFC and if you agree with the above, PLEASE HIT BELIEVEABLE!.....

A takeover of Liverpool appears increasingly imminent after the club and a number of interested parties alerted the Premier League to a possible change in ownership.

Under tougher new rules on club ownership announced by the Premier League in response to Portsmouth's financial meltdown, all prospective owners are obliged to give the league 10 days' notice of a takeover and prove they have the funds to sustain the club.

It is understood Liverpool and a number of parties contemplating a takeover - including Chinese businessman Kenny Huang - have already contacted the Premier League to alert them a change of ownership could be imminent.

Under the rules, the Premier League will have to be given 10 days' notice of any takeover, and the prospective owners will be required to have a face-to-face meeting with league chiefs to convince them they have enough money for the season to come.

Other rule changes will see clubs having to provide evidence every quarter that they are up to date with tax payments to Her Majesty's Revenue & Customs - and they will give permission for HMRC to give details on any non-payment directly to the league.

The former 'fit and proper persons test' has been renamed as the 'owners and directors test' and toughened up. Now anyone barred from other sporting organisations or competitions will not be allowed to be a club director.

The strengthening of the regulations is an attempt to reduce the risk of another crisis similar to that suffered by Portsmouth, who went into administration last season and were subsequently relegated.

Premier League chief executive Richard Scudamore said: "We believe we have the measures now in place, the early warning system, that will reduce the risk of having a repeat of the Portsmouth situation.

"The objective of the Premier League is to reduce risk and try to prevent the worst happening but we can't eliminate risk entirely as that would involve us interfering as shadow directors in the running of clubs.

"There was reputational damage with the situation we had with Portsmouth.

"Clubs get tired of football being called a financial basket case.

"There was an element of gross mismanagement [with Portsmouth] and people have understood it was the exception rather than the rule."

Scudamore believes the league could have intervened in Portsmouth's finances in January 2009 rather than September if the new rules had been in force then, and stopped the club running up such debts with the taxman.

He added: "The HMRC debt would not have run up and we would have probably been able to prevent some of the worst."

Scudamore said he believed the new rules on future financial information would have prevented Ali Al Faraj from taking over Portsmouth in October last year, though not Alexandre Gaydamak from doing so in 2006.

Re: "....heard a rumour that the LFC board are to run through all 6 offers on the table this week, followed by a vote by all 6 board members"

Only 5 board members (!). In theory, Hicks and Gilette (perhaps holding out for more profit) could be outvoted by Purslow, Broughton and commercial director Ian Ayre.

The Premier League has now been alerted (Daily Post, BBC Sports, Telegraph).

DAWKINS,

I agree with the fact that Lucas is "OKAY" as cover on bench for us but seeing him get 30 games + for us last yr and his own goals, missed sitters and awful passing make him a frustrating sight.

Would he get into Chelsea midfield? No
Man U? No..
Arsenal? No....
Spurs? No
Man City? No
Everton? No

So why does he get into ours? All he does he pass sidewards and jog around.

Not a rumour but a NECESSARY comment imo...
I really get fed up with many fellow REDS expressing extravagant dreams and being SO far away from anything that LIVERPOOL represents. GET REAL and PROTECT your club, even with your thoughts. We don't want to become a Man city and we certainly need to avoid it as such a road will eventually lead to financial destruction.
We want to regain our status as the premier football power domestically and internationally, but we need to do it the Liverpool way.
For all those forgetting or ignoring what this is, I propose that you get a better look to Torres' announcement. We need the players that possess the desire to fulfil their footballing targets with PASSION, LOVE for the wider cause of their team and its city and ultimately wearing OUR red colours. We need no mercenaries or pop idols that get depleted after a year or so but a team of strong and passionate hearts ready to gel their talents with the club, the city and the fans.

I also want "messi" type of players wearing the liverbird but I am reasonable enough to know that this cannot happen now...
What we need is hungry and talented LB, RW and ST and let the team rolling!

I wish we all remain loyal to the LIVERPOOL WAY & to the ethos that has always distincted us from the rest...
Thatnk you ED for the new site!

LFC Rumoured transfer targets:

MASSIVE MASSIVE TARGETS:

Hodgson has set his sights on 1 of 2 Argentine forwards:

Aguero to parter Torres, or the more favoured (but less likely) Carlos Tevez. It is believed for Aguero, a 28mill bid would do it and for Tevez Man City would most likely want 3om.

Also Masch move has gone v v quiet.
Neither Inter, Barca or Juve have formally bid and its believed that if Roy can get either Aguero or Tevez then Masch would reconsider

So------ Ageuro or Tevez the first marquee signing of summer. If this comes off we will be a Real Force.

Not so much a rumour, but more a "I pray to god this happens" post!!!

Long time reader, first time poster!

Im 31, been supporting LFC since I was 4, last year nearly put me off football for life. Its hard not wanting to read the Sunday paper because we had a crap result! But if these rumours are true, and we get our house in order, make it into the top 4 this year, pick up a cup, it would be a great season.

20 years of hope has been too long, LFC needs to be competing at the top!

Lets hope for a takeover this week, 2 good signings, Striker and LB, new stadium, and a bright future!!

Thanks Ed for setting this up, all the talk has got me excited for the season.

The deadline is September 1, after the transfer window closes, so plent of time for transfers to make the 25...

New Stadium wil be at least 4 years away. Need to re tender the works and evaluate the bids which will take at least 6 months. Then build is likely to be 30 months. Above tasks wont start until at least one year after any take over.

I haven't posted anything in a while but as things seem to be gathering speed at Anfield, I thought I might as well throw my tuppence-worth into the fray.

First off, Ed I am amazed at how you have been catapulted to almost God-like status on the site, every other post asks for your opinion on football-related matters. Keep up the hard work, it must be even tougher now the kids summer holidays are here! Also, the Liverpool section is the icing on the cake as far as Im concerned.

Right onto footballing matters. Torres coming out and confirming his desire to stay at 'the best football club in the country' is fantastic news. Hopefully, the new fitness team at Melwood will work closely with him and increase his chances of remaining fit for longer periods next season. The same goes for Joe Cole, Fabio Aurelio, Stevie Gerrard etc.

The sale of the club has finally reached the mainstream media indicating that (hopefully) a suitable conclusion is on the horizon. As there is scant information available regarding the several bids available I wont bother giving my thoughts at this time. However, the one thing I will say is that although a 'sugar daddy' would be great, at this moment in time I would just prefer to know that LFC will be run as it should be.

One last thing, to the fella who posted about Woolies at Anfield. How stupid can you get! The revenue ploughed into LFC from people beyond the boundaries of Liverpool is what keeps the club running as a business. You may be a genuine scouser (like myself) but your ridiculous spoutings are definitely within the minority at Anfield.

Hi Ed, heard a rumour that the LFC board are to run through all 6 offers on the table this week, followed by a vote by all 6 boardmembers. If the voting procedure is tied RBS will have the final say in who the new owners will be.With a announcement due a week on Friday on the potencial new owner(s).Take nothing for granted yet, because G&H are still adamant the club is worth a minminm of 420m, far cry from the 800m quoted 2 month ago.But the chance to not have to pay the interest on their RBS loan next month, could be the key to LFC having new owners, sooner rather than later.

does anyone have any genuine rumours who liverpool will sign when we get taken over, whoever by ? just thinking arda turan and taiwo would be brilliant additions to the squad and possibly a new striker and mascherano replacement. (:

No how can anyone have any genuine rumors! There will only be rumors when the takeover is complete! If we dont know whos taking over then we dont know how much funds etc there will be for transfers! SO THERE CANNOT BE ANY GENUINE RUMORS!

my apologies im just getting a bit weary of all messi, ronaldo and kaka rumours ?

The deadline is the 31st of August as teams have to be allowed to purchase players up until the end of the transfer window. As for the home grown quota of 8 we already have Stevie, Carra, Cole, Johnson, Shelvey, and I think a number of youth players will be given a go so I don't think we need to worry too much about that.

03 Aug 2010 19:30:41
I've read all the big name that so many people want too see brought in by the new owners and that we have to sign them before the end of August and as a red all my life I want us to get some better players in too, but what I'd rather see is that the Chairman and BarCap take time to assess all of the bids and maybe more importantly the bidders very carefully.
What we don't need is for the club to rush into a deal only to find out to all of our costs that it was not what it seemed to be.
Out of the frying pan into the wok!
I think Kenny Huang is very astute in trying to buy the debt therefore gaining control of the clubs finances and forcing his way in. If his groups bid is the best he will gain control if not we may have been spared another period of troubles for the club.
If it takes till after the transfer window to sort out the takeover and we end up with the best option, but no Aguero (Kun or Ken)! then I for one will be a happy fan.
We've been here for 118 years.
The long term is more important than short term hype and a big signing.

Re. Lucas debate (yes OK I'm late to this but have been busy)

Lucas can tackle. Check the stats. One of the best in the prem last season if you believe the stats. I wouldn't go that far, but the lad can tackle.

Is he Alonso? No. Not even close. But he doesn't try to be does he?

Should he start most games for LFC? Not yet, but a useful player on the bench and good cover for various central midfield options.

Was Lucas the reason that Gerrard was sub-par last season? Doubt it. Note the sole reason anyway :-)

As for latest rumours, well given that when RH became manager he needed 2 left backs and to resolve the futures of torres, gerrard and masch and despite the multitude of imminent signings - Figueroa, L Young, etc. it appears we still have the same left backs as last season, and at least nando and stevie g are staying, anyone left out there who has believed a single rumour in the press must now be having a nice lie down in a darkened room. Whether the left back issue is resolved, we'll see. Plenty of potential for further developments.

Aside from that, LFC need another striker and a versatile attacking mid (someone who can play on either flank). And probably to replace Masch.

Just looked at the LFC website and looked at the training pics...............something diffferent from last season.......
the players are SMILING ! Didn't get much of that last year. However, there wasn't much to smile about was there ? Hopefully, this relaxed atmosphere will benefit team morale, I am sure it will. Let's not get carried away with all these potential new signings, we appear to now have a good crop of young players and of course we've got Insua ( gutted he's still with us, maybe not for long ?)

03 Aug 2010 19:13:51
Whoever posted this wake up look how much this will cost

After the takeover is complete i can see a vast amount of top signings

Aguero 40-good bye likely
kaka 50- 10per cent chance i say
turan 15-dont want
messi 200 clause-too much and never happen
forlan 30-over valued and shown how bad adapts to pl
ramos 30-over rated
roanaldo 100-greedy but still a manc at heart so no
A.Cole 30-would move but only if money was right
Arteta 20-would love but wont happen
Piennar 20-waste of money
This all adds up 535million and every player is an attacker bar cole and ramos haha this would be even worse than man city situation plus the homegrown rule would not work
Realistic targets

Swp 10mil
Ireland 7mil
Milner 30 mil
Young 20mil
Aguero 40mil
Thats it not more needed

According to reports there are several bidders. This is in fact a lie. There is only "1 BID" that has been lodged and that is by Kenny Huang who was revealed over the weekend. He has bid £300 for the club including the £260m debt giving the owners £20m each. This is a minimum offer possible set by BarCap/RBS. A joint bid is rumoured around the board room to be offered soon to rival Huang by Shiekh Kalifa and Shiekh Muhammed (DIC) who will both put personal fortunes into Liverpool and will not include DIC. The rumoured bid from the Syrian consortium isn't really a proper bid as the consortium behind it doesn't have the financial power as the other bidders and is more of a "pace maker" to bump up the offer from the other candidates. The final bidder is Nasser al Kharafi from Kuwait who is willing to pay the debt and build the stadium and leave the owners with £20m each for a total of £600m. If he officially bids, this would be the best offer the Americans.

Liverpool Bidders:

OFFICIAL BID: Kenny Huang - £300m (includes debt) + Stadium

Sheikh Kalifa/Sheikh Muhammed - £550m (includes Stadium & Debt)

Yahya Kirdi Consortium - £600m (Includes Stadium & Debt)

Nasser al-Kharafi - £600m (includes Stadium & Debt)

**Stadium = £300m
**Debt = £260m

Personally, I would prefer the offer from both Sheikh's with Kalifa being the brother of Man City's owner and is even richer than him. Muhammed is the owner of DIC and is also bloody rich. Kuang's bid will need to be ellaborated on. The Kuwait's bid is also intersting.

is it true that messi is a target 4 lfc ED?"

I'll take this one if you dont mind Ed?! NO the "source" that has been talking to the media about the Chinese bid has said that should Roy say that he wants such and such player then Kenny Huang would make the enquiries to see what the availability and price was, even if it was Messi. At no point did he say Liverpool were after Messi or even that he would buy him if Roy wanted him, he was merely stating that he would back him in the transfer market. My guess is that all this in the news is to try and get the supporters to put some pressure on RBS to accept his bid, which makes me think that G&H definitely dont want to accept it.

The 6 bids Liverpool have received are from:

Kenny Huang
Sheikh Mohammed
Prince Faisal
Sheikh Khalifa
Mukesh Ambani
The Rhone Group

No clear favourite at the minute.

If this is the case then anyone of the top 5 will do nicely. Me personally would like to see Sheikh Mohammed buy us. I've said it a few times on the rumours site that Sheikh Mohammed is a LFC fan and has being trying to get us from 2006 and he's been shafted twice once by Moore's/Parry and then by Hicks. Remember the signs/flags "Dubai SOS" he's tried twice to rescue us and like i say was shafted twice.

I have been doing my research on Wikipedia. The first thing I would like to point out is that Christian Poulsen plays for Liverpool according to Wikipedia!

Secondly I had been doing research on some of the rumoured bidders. So the Rhone Group, based in the USA. Worth 7.5 billion $. However have already had a bid rejected in March. Plus they quoted if they were to gain control it would be part ownership and they would only give us 25million to spend on transfers!:(

Mukesh Ambani, India's richest man. Worth 29 billion $ ! No offer or proposed transfer budget has been made public though.

Sheikh Khalifa, has been linke heavily in the past. Worth over 19billion $. No formal offer or proposed transfer budget have been made public.

Prince Faisal of Jordan. Not alot of information I am afraid. No idea what he is worth. No bid or proposed transfer budget has Been publicy announced yet.

Sheikh Mouhammed, President of the UAE, and prince of Dubai! Worth 18billion $. Interesting charachter, donated 10$billion to charity, and was linked to a terrorist act by the metro paper! However, all claims were cleared, and metro appologised. Has bid in the past, not recently however. No public proposed transfer budget.

Last, but not least, Kenneth Huang, Chinese buissinessman. Worked on Wall street. Has made a bid publicly, offred a large transfer budget, offered to clear debt, and build a new stadium! Very generous.

Personally, I would hate the Rhone group to come to Anfield, they are yanks like H&G. They only offer 25 million for transfers. And only want 40%!

I would love to see Mukesh Ambani to come in, the richest, probably the most generous, lacks sporting knowledge however:(

sheikh khalifa & Muhaamed and Kenneth Huang seem like good options, Lots of money, both heavily interested, and generous too!

Prince Faisal seems to private and is a little less powerful in the dish department!

Peace out!

Kenny Huang is offering 320 million for the club because that is what it is worth. The yanks are trying to make money out of our club, He wants to pay what it is worth then invest heavily in star players who will obviously increase our chances of winning trophies. Football is taken off in China, and you can't blame him for capitalising on a franchise like L F C. brand. He will make a lot of money out of this of course but he will invest in the team. I have supported Liverpool through the good times and bad times, and hopefully we can start to compete with the other clubs in the transfer market, build a new stadium, then build a bastion of invincibilty once again. If Torres can get Iniesta and Ramos to join him next season you wont hear me complaining.

And can everybody please stop looking at their FIFA 10 Liverpool team and posting that as next seasons team

03 Aug 2010 17:48:32
Guys chill out over the takeover! It has not happened yet. None of the players mentioned today will be signing for us - forget Messi, Kaka, Ronaldo - thats crazy talk.

Much more likely will be players with an affinity to Liverpool - Aguero is good mates with Torres who may have an input to his transfer. Alonso loved it here. Crouch may return. Turan claims to be a fan.

But none of these will happen unles the takeover completes in good time before the end of the window and even then it can take ages to agree fees, terms and salaries.

If we do have money it will not be immediately available and I suspect there will only be time to spend it on players who have already been in negotiation with us for some time. Who they are we dont know. Roy keeps things close to his chest.

Still, its exciting times and Torres staying adds an extra draw to potential signings.

I would love to see Lopez left back, Alonso to return and replace Masch, Turan to play on the wing and Crouch to partner Torres.

I am a first time poster here and I must admit, I really enjoy reading what all you guys post. I have been reading some of the remarks after the take over news about the chinese dude was announced yesterday and all I'd like to inform some of the guys is "Just Relax Guys!! I know with the take over speculations doing the rounds, let us all not get hyped up and start counting the chickens before the eggs are hatched. After undergoing through the turbulent times, there will be light at the end of the tunnel, however not just yet. The deal with this Chinese guy seems fishy purely with the way he wants to hurry the deal through and I for one am not sure he is the appropriate person, although yes if he does take over, then the potential is there for us to outgrow and capture the market in china which is a lot superior then other asian countries (no offence). I do have a gut feeling something bigger is likely to happen, what with Gerrard and Torres commiting their futures and the signing of Joe Cole. Do you think these players don't know the financial situation of the club? Are they all stupid to commit and sign for LFC in cole's case for a club who are in enormous debts? Something is going on behind the scenes which is much bigger that this chinese takeover rumours as a result of which they have pledged to LFC. Let us wait and watch. Besides, we have been patient until now, the fruits of which will be very fruitful. Scouse-Africa

I have heard that kenny huang has kick off a bidding war and up to now there are at least six bids for the club

If Huang takes over it will be a disaster. Huang pronounces his R's as L's and Hodgson pronounces his R's as W's - what a mess, Roy might ask for Turan but end up with Toulalan 

ED I have found a flaw in the Believable/Unbelievable voting. If you refresh the page you are able to vote again.

Also, the takeover will be completed before the Arsenal game.

Once the takeover is complete Roy will sign Arda Turan, Sergio Aguero, Taye Taiwo, Connor Wickham and Parker/Banega/Alonso(unlikely) to replace Mascherano.

Liverpool Takeover:
Source within Barclays Capital has confirmed the following :
Three formal offers are on the table and all meet the minimum criteria set out by both RBS and the existing owners, which effectively means all outstanding debt to RBS repaid in full (RBS criteria) and each of the existing owners walk away with a £20m 'profit', which must mean all offers are in excess of £320m.
All three offers have been checked and double checked by both RBS, Barclays and the yanks and all parties are happy that the required funding is in place, so it is now down to which one they pick.
All include a clause guaranteeing a new ground within a 5 year period but only one guarantee's a set annual amount for transfers (which would be linked to success, i.e. a percentage of 'brand' value), which is the offer from Ken Huang and his associates.
Therefore, this offer is now top of the list, but the sticking point is that he will not reveal the names of all the investors which, under UK law, is required to enable the deal to be finalised.
This would normally mean one (or several) of the individuals are in the 'political' arena and / or some sort of royalty (maybe both)
Either way, the future looks bright !

03 Aug 2010 17:06:03
does anyone have any genuine rumours who liverpool will sign when we get taken over, whoever by ? just thinking arda turan and taiwo would be brilliant additions to the squad and possibly a new striker and mascherano replacement. (:

No how can anyone have any genuine rumors! There will only be rumors when the takeover is complete! If we dont know whos taking over then we dont know how much funds etc there will be for transfers! SO THERE CANNOT BE ANY GENUINE RUMORS!

I've just seen Kenny Huang arrive at Anfield in a shiny new Maybach car. He was greeted by Martin Broughton and what looks like one of the sons of Gillett or Hicks and walked into the executive end of the stadium. I have been up a ladder for most of the day fixing a telegraph pole and spotted the car pull up.

Looks like its a done deal.

In reply to this:
If this was true then i'm sure sky sports news would have seen him arriving at Anfield as they have been camped there waiting for news on the take over. There has been no news of this on sky bbc or on the liverpool website

Firstly, i do know that Liverpool will be purchased by the end of August, for sure to give Roy enough money to buy the players he feels are worthy to play for Liverpool.

Now onto Transfers, i wouldn't really like to see us buy all the "STAR" kinda players coz i think football is all about great teamwork, and NOT TALENT alone, if i was Roy, i would push for;

Sergio Ramos: Personally he is EVEN better than Maicon and Alves combined, vigorous defending, attacking as well, and can be a CB as well!!

Simon Kjaer: Is virtually dying to partner Daniel Agger and i see him as the perfect partner should Carragher step down to "mentoring" him.

Fabio Coentrao/Marcelo: Two of the best young leftbacks. Would love to have both of them actually, but my bet would be Coentrao.

Javi Martinez/Steven Defour: Either is good, as Defour is balanced both ways attack and defence, though Martinez is more defensive therefore could provide good stability to defence.

Eden Hazard: Shocker??, personally, i think Roy can make Hazard far better than Ronaldo is/was/will ever be, and he can fit in perfectly in our plans.

Miralem Pjanic: Best young attacking midfielder in Ligue 1. I hear from a friend that he is called the Bosnian "Steven Gerrard" as he can do what Stevie does, bring him in to learn with Stevie G, and u wouldnt need to worry about a replacement for Gerrard when he retires!!.

Finally, for a striker, i would recomend Liverpool try to push for Giuseppe Rossi, as i see him as a hit with Liverpool.

As for future, i would go for Neymar and Lukaku, who knows, in 4-5 years, they could be leading the Anfield front line...

my thoughts....

*NOT A RUMOR*

Listen here LFC fans. Turn down the heat and just think this out. Kenny Huang is looking more and more like a farce to me. There has been media sources promoting his big spending should he buy the club. Even talks of willing to purchase Messi to keep the current high end players happy. None of this has been confirmed directly by him, just anonymous sources, and everyone is getting way too excited for this. In truth I believe Huang is self promoting himself, which in turn is forcing other potential bidders to consider acting faster on purchasing the club.

In response to the above

People have to realize that Kenny Huang is more or less probably a figure head for the real buyers CIC, Chinese International Corperation who have probably the biggest wealth fund considering it's state owned. So i don't think this guy is a farce! Wheither he gets the club is a different story,

Kenneth Huang, or Jian-hua Huang to go by his Chinese name, has been linked with a consortium who are apparently attempting to buy Liverpool Football Club, but who exactly is he? Huang had the unique honour of becoming China's first graduate to work in the New York Stock Exchange in the 1980s, and has developed an interest in Western culture during his time in the United States. After graduating in 1984 with a BA degree from Zhongshan University in Guangzhou, his hometown, he moved to study in the US at Columbia University before moving to New York to complete his Masters degree at St Johns. It was when he was at New York University though, while completing some MBA financial management courses, that he began to work at the Stock Exchange.
From here on, Huang became an exceptionally accomplished business executive, building relationships in his native China and using his connections to great effect. He set up many international investments and financing projects between Chinese and American companies, partnering with many of China's large state-owned enterprises in the deals, and making large profits by benefiting from the economic boom in China. One of his crucial partners in America was with one Les Alexander, and this is where Huang's connections in sport become very interesting. Alexander is the owner of the NBA's Houston Rockets and back in 2002, Huang worked with Alexander to bring Chinese Basketball superstar Yao Ming to the NBA to play for Alexander's team.
Huang's involvement in US Sport doesn't end there though. He seems to have enthusiasm for many American sports including basketball and baseball. He uses his company SportsPro Media China to link Chinese sponsors and US Sports giants including baseball team New York Yankees where he owns a percentage of the franchise with American businessman Marc Ganis. He has also brought much needed multi-year sponsorship deals for basketball teams Houston Rockets and Cleveland Cavaliers in recent years, as well helping to boost the NBA's profile in China through pre-season tours. Early this year, Huang bought a 15% stake in the Cleveland Cavaliers leading to speculation in the US that Yao Ming will link up at Cleveland with NBA all-star Lebron James.
As well as being involved with sport in America, Huang has started to promote basketball in his native China, buying Jilin Northeast Tigers and purchasing a Basketball league in his home country (the National Basketball League) to rival the present Chinese Basketball Association. On top of this, he announced last year a youth Baseball league in the country, showing that his enthusiasm for sport is wide ranging. Huang it seems is determined to make both sports as popular as possible in China.
Huang continues to excel in business too and recently set up a new business venture called Rocket Capital with Les Alexander and San Antonio Spurs former owner Billy Joe "Red" McCombs. Together (with Alexander & McCombs billions and Huang's connections with China's state industries) they have begun to collect an assortment of companies, investing in one of China's largest automakers Brilliance Auto, as well as in the China Railway Group, China Sinoma International Engineering, Uni President Enterprises Corp, Xinjiang XinXin Mining Industry, and Anta Sports Products, the last of which now sponsor's Alexander's Houston Rockets. Rocket Capital also has invested large amounts into Hong Kong's private equity market, to the amount of $200 million in 2007 alone.
The two things you need to know about Huang then, are that although he is wealthy, it is his backers that really hold the billions. The second fact is that not only will he bring wealthy backers, his connections with China's state owned companies mean exceptionally lucrative sponsorship deals from the Far East. If Huang's consortium does takeover, expect many pre-season tours of China, but also keep in mind that Liverpool maybe the first football club to crack the highly lucrative market in China. Huang already has a track record of doing this, tying Anta to Houston Rockets and more recently Tsing Tsao to the Cleveland Cavaliers. His passion for sport is undoubted with his deal-brokering in both Basketball and Baseball, and he now looks like turning his attention to football and Liverpool FC.

id love to see Ireland at LFC...he can play anywhere across an attack midfield, great eye for a pass and a few goals...really think he could develop well with the like of stevie, cole, maxi, torres around him as hes still young and at a very appealing price if what is printed we are led to believe !

And i no wat am talkin about unlike you wooly backs sayin use r kopites am a scouser who sits in the kop no one wants u at the ground.

GET THE WOOLYS OUT THE KOP!

To the clown that wrote the above: I have been a liverpool season ticket holder (not from Liverpool) for the last 10 yrs and I sit in the KOP. Last season I also went to 14 league away games plus 4 away in Europe. Just wondered what that made me you pillock.

approx 45mill pounds

ashley young 30 mill pounds
james millner 15 mill pounds
sergio aguerio 25 mill pounds(money from new owner)

In reply to this:
Aston Villa have already turned down £25 million for Millner from Man City and are holding out for at least £30 million.
Sergio Aguerio will cost far more then £25million to bring to Anfield more like £35/40 million.
Also your team has no holding midfielder.
But i would love to see these 3 players come to Anfield as i really rate all 3 of them. But where are all these rumours coming from? Just because we are linked with new owners doesn't mean we are going to sign any new players before the end of the transfer window.

hi to all my fellow reds can i just say even if we get taken over by a sugar daddy do we really want to become just another chelski or man city i have supported liverpool all my life and i think what we need are players who have passion for the club and who will wear our famous red jersey with pride and not a group of mercenaries who only care about the pay cheque

we need to sell our club not our soul we are lucky that our club has such a rich history a history that has been earned by players of passion and a club that did things the right so please stop with all this crap about signing 10 players etc
we need to build foundations so we can have prolonged success not cover over cracks with money.

This is not a rumour just an observation. I hope that who ever the new owners maybe is that they do the right thing by the club. I would hate to see us go down the same route as Man city or Chelsea. We need to add 1 or 2 world class signings each season and bulld the team up the right way. This would bring better cohesion to the team and to the squad as a whole. If Roy Hodgson is clever with his signings he will bring in players who want to play for the team and not players who just see us as a cash cow ie Man city.

Hi guys first post on this site but have been following it for ages love the Liverpool page cheers ed can't wait till takeover and happy that torres has commited for at least 1 more season I hope the Chinese guy takes over and we get a bit of a kitty and we need two more hg players I reckon bridge and Ireland seeing as man sh1tty are having a sale and after that I reckon one striker in dzeko who hodgson has said he likes or aguero also hope we get a quality midfielder if masch goes mabye defour don't know much bout him though feel free to reply. 03 Aug 2010 16:29:42
Without wishing to sound like a sketch from Harry Enfield.....Calm down!

Even IF a takeover deal goes through before the end of the window there's no guarantee that players who already play for clubs in the CL will want to come to LFC.

With Aurelio re-signing and Insua looking like he's going no-where I can't see Roy spending millions on a left-back who's never played in the EPL.
Probable signing: Konchesky (Fulham)

If Masch goes (despite our possible new wealth another club still has to match our valuation) a central midfielder will arrive I've no doubt but again why spend millions on someone who isn't proven in this country? A player available for a smaller fee is more likely.
Probable signing: Poulsen (Juventus)

A big name striker!
Roy looks pretty certain to play 4-2-3-1 so why spend a fortune on another big name striker who will only play when Torres doesn't or come on as sub?
I agree that N'gog / Nemeth / Dalle Valle / Eccleston still aren't good enough to play every week if Torres gets injured but a young striker on the way up will fit the bill.
Probable signing: Yilmaz (Bayern)

An out and out winger!
Severly lacking from Anfield for a number of years now (although I did like Riera - shame he was a prat). Again though with Roy's formation wingers aren't that necessary!
I could however see a winger arriving who won't cost too much & has EPL experience.
Probable target: Wright-Phillips (Man City)

In the January window a big name may arrive if we're doing very well as a 'push' for whatever we're challenging for (hopefully everything we're in).

03 Aug 2010 16:25:48
Not a rumour just my take on things.
Will people just calm down about the take over talk, saying this player and that player will be coming. I just hope that who ever takes over will not saddle the club with any debt, and lets Roy get on with running the team.
I hope Roy plays alot of youth team players in all cup competitions this season uefa, carling, fa. Keeping the first team fit, so the club can get back into the champs league for next season. Then perhaps things might happen the following season with a new stadium/ new players etc. But most important is this is not another "new dawn" but steady improvement of the club.

In response to the above

To be fair LFC fans have got a right to be excited! No matter when the Takeover happens end of the month or October it will happen.

I want the take over as much as anybody, i hate the Yanks!
But don't expect to much to soon, it is going to cost loads just to buy the club and clear the debts. Let alone go out buying the worlds best players and a new stadium. This is going to take time and not an overnight fix like some people are claiming.
But i am looking forward to the future for the first time in a while

To the melon who said bad times ahead because h&g would be spiteful and let Liverpool go bankrupt if a deal is not done, firstly it would not be in anybody's interest as h&g would rather focus on their other investments and let Liverpool be someone elses than just watch it burn, secondly if they did run Liverpool into the ground then they would end any chance of anyone doing business with them ever again and finally would the fa or FIFA not step in at some point in the destruction of the greatest British team ever?

Torres and Gerrard are only staying at Liverpool because of Roy's plans. Roy plans that when the takeover is finished, within 2 weeks, we will sign Aguero to play alongside Torres and the sell Mascherano to Inter then buy Alonso to replace him.

Expect great things next season. Roy must have something great planned to convince Torres and Gerrard to stay.

Even if liverpool complete the takeover i dont thnk they will be able to land most of the player mentioned on this site.

I think aguero would come because torres is his good friend and that huang would give the resources. people who are talking about the messis and ronaldos i dont think are being realistic. i understand wat knny huang has said abou delivering messi etc. the only reason messi would come is if liverpool offe 500million pounds+.

i have no sources are anything i dont even live in europe. just usin my brain.
P.s the takeover might not even happen

If the takeover goes ahead, the new owners should look at the Stadium development.

Up until recently I worked for one of the Utility companies working on bringing water. power etc to the new ground.

In the plans there is scope for the ground capacity to reach 85,000.

Why not just build that size of stadium straight away?

LFC could sell that out for virtually every game. Well maybe not when Blackpool come to visit!! But I don't see why the biggest ground possible is not built straight away if the funds are there.

now that torres has pledged his future to the club would all the citeh and chelski glory hunters like to crawl back under the stones they have appeared from.despite your money you will never be big clubs and will never have world respect like liverpool have.
now if the takeover is decided before the window closes expect a big name striker to be brought in to play alongside torres.dzeko, aguero, forlan or suares
also premiership players along the lines of ireland, milner, lennon, shawcross, and a couple of stars for the future like connor whickam

don't forget that broughton said that they were several bids (5 if the rumours are true) and they will decide with the committee (Tom Hicks, George Gillett, Martin Broughton, Christian purslow and Ian Ayre) by the end of next week so the new owner(s) could also be the abu dhabi group (sheikh mohamed or khalifa) khalifa richer than mansour or others including huang of course or mukesh ambani (29 billion dollars personnal fortune, fourth richest in the world acording to forbes) , but coz huang is the only one that has made it official doesn't necessarily mean that he will be are new owner.

P.S= Kenny Huang is bidding to buy the debts first so then he could have first hand on the ownership and he wants the deal to be quick (2 weeks)
great news that torres has commited himself to the club by the way.

Hi, i would like to say that i cant wait to see the yanks get on their private jet and go back to america
We need a owner that will remember the history and allow the club to get back to it's glory yrs and start wining trophy's again. Hodgson is doing his best to get rid of the renford rejects and rebuild the squad. Hopefully the new owner will allow hodgson to spend big and get us the signings we need. My view is that we need a left back urgent (figueroa or bridge) and to strengthen the squad 70 million is needed.
Arda Turan, Sergio Aguero and Defour from standard along with the left back would give us a squad even barca would be proud off. Man cats, city and chelsea have all spent big on named signings over the past few yrs which we need to do to keep up. Imagine the lineup.

Reina

Johnson Carragher Agger Bridge/ Figueroa

Kuyt/ Cole Gerrard(C) Mascha/ Defour Turan/ Jovanovic

Torres Aguero

The "Yanks" did not run the club into the ground, it was Moores. The academy had not produced players, no new stadium was built in the 90"s and the team stagnated for many years. The laugher of your team for all to fear is the addition of Carragher. As long as he is a starter there will be problems.

And i no wat am talkin about unlike you wooly backs sayin use r kopites am a scouser who sits in the kop no one wants u at the ground.

GET THE WOOLYS OUT THE KOP!!!

To the clown that wrote the above: I have been a liverpool season ticket holder (not from Liverpool) for the last 10 yrs and I sit in the KOP. Last season I also went to 14 league away games plus 4 away in Europe. Just wondered what that made me you pillock.

After the takeover is complete i can see a vast amount of top signings

Aguero
kaka
turan
messi
forlan
ramos
roanaldo
A.Cole
Arteta
Piennar

Everyone will once again want to play for the mighty L.F.C

as much as i wish that to be true i honestly cannot see it im afraid that will add up to over 200 million pounds and we'll just be another chelsea/city

03 Aug 2010 15:06:21
Team after takeover
Reina
Johnson Cahill(15mil) Agger Bastos(20mil)

Defour(10mil)

Kaka(40mil) Gerrard Robben(25mil)

Dzenko(35mil) Torres
Subs: Babel Carra young bridge Lucas Crouch

This would be best team in world football and if owners are serious well see. PS Aguero will not sign for us he wants to go to chelski if anywhere in england

Players out - Masch 30mil, Aqua 15mil, Skrtel 12mil, Kuyt 15mil, Insua5mil,

03 Aug 2010 15:06:06
The players we should go for when the Takeover is complete are!

Aguero (stiker) Ath.M
Contraro (left back) Benfica
Turan (anywere across the last 3rd of the pitch) Galatasary
James Milner (anywere across the midfield) A.Villa

I know these will cost a bit but with the Takeover probably coming to ahead next Friday there will be funds available no matter who take's over. Lets be honest we don't need much strengthining anyway just in certain area's.

Also Fernando is staying! Does this mean that he has been giving the assurance's he was asking for at the end of last season? I think he has!

wouldn t mind seeing a front line of tevez torres and aguero with stevie g and joe cole behind with two wing backs johnson and bridge and a back three between carra skrtel wilson agger wouldnt need wingers as johnson and bridge can both attack subs from gulacsi (gk) kelly insua ayala maxi lucas aqualani babel pacheco kuyt shelvey etc etc think this could win the title? p s torres is staying put your house on it

we need 2 more homegrown players to have enough to be eligible to play in the prem lge this season! (other than academy/reserve players)
nobody has been able to second guess our clever new manager on transfers...he wrongfooted everyone on cole and aurelio...ill try anyway!
more hope i guess but bellamy and ireland or swp. we dont need left back now we have aurelio and insua back

Hey guys dont get carried away with who LFC will be buying when takeover is complete, if takeover is sorted expect only one major player coming in perhaps rumours of Augero will become fact, a few players ie left back, midfielder also to to come in, but dont expect kaka, messi, ballatelli, ramos all coming in at once.
Love the new Liverpool Fc Rumours page for the dedicated LFC supporter/follower!

ITS PEOPLE LIKE U THAT WE DONT NEED IN OUR SITE(REAL LFC FANS) SO WOULD U NOT POST AGAIN GET OUT AN STICK TO POSTIN IN THE FOOTBALL RUMOURS, FOOTBALL BANTER PART

Why would Huang offer a measley 320 million and then pull out within 10 days if he doesnt settle with that offer, but is willing to pour in funds that coudl easily out cost what he would offer on the club as a whole? Something doesn't smell right. I still think a sale is in order soon, but it won't be the striking of oil that Kenny Huang seems to be.

Liverpool ins:
Turan 12 mil. Nothing worth mentioning beyond that until a sale takes place.

Nando has just confirmed that his commitment to the fans and club is the same as on the day he signed for us. This guy is pure class in every sense of the word. He wore an LFC scarf to celebrate his World Cup victory, pure class, he told the new manager that he was committed, pure class and he now publically reaffirms this commitment, pure class. Here is a world class footballer who puts love and affection above money. Chelsea & Man City, if you did not know it before you now know that one thing your money cannot buy is class and Nando has this in abundance. Best of all Nando will soon get his reward as the new owners will make funds available so that Nando can be surrounded by more players of his level of talent. Happy days here we come. TORRES IS STAYING!!!

Torres interview yesterday for LFC tv now on the liverpoolfc website like this bit though

What are your personal targets this season and what do you think Liverpool can achieve?

This is the best club in the country so the targets and expectations are always high. Hopefully we can stay at our level. At Liverpool the aim is to fight for every title. It was difficult last season but we are sure we can improve this season. I am really happy to be back, really happy to stay with all my teammates. My commitment and loyalty to the club and to the fans is the same as it was on my first day when I signed. I am looking forward to the challenge ahead.

03 Aug 2010 14:30:06
Hi Ed,
i think we need to get things in perspective here. Whilst it's great news that the sale of the club looks to be gathering pace at last, there is a more deep rooted issue. Many of Rafa's squad players are on very good salaries and are proving difficult to move on. Insua's transfer to Fiorentina collapsed due to wages. Degen and El Zhar were supposedly told they're surplus to requirements and told they can look for another club but it's all gone quiet on news of them leaving too. There are other 1st team players, who in my opinion are not good enough and need to be shown the door. Kyriakgos, Babel, Skrtel, Lucas, N'gog. Of the youngsters, Plessis promised a lot a couple of seasons back but he hasn't got a sniff of 1st team action. Overall the whole squad is riddled with poor players....the major overhaul that i was hoping for has not materialised over the current transfer window and i think Roy's hands are still tied. Joe Cole could prove a great signing, but the loss of Yossi should not to be overlooked.

Even if the sale of the club goes through next week it's hugely unlikely that we'll be able to shift out the dross and replace them with top class replacements in the remaining days of the window, it just doesn't happen that quickly!!
What's your thoughts Ed? Cheers.
Chesh1969

Hey Ed,
You said last week that there would be a transfer announced this week by LFC, any idea who it is?

Fowler is God

03 Aug 2010 14:29:09
To-ED

This site is a great idea mate! Fans of other clubs will probably say your biased but they have to understand that there has been far more happening at LFC than any other club. New manager, Joe Cole, Gerrard and Torres and of course the Takeover which will be the biggest story of the summer bar non. There's not much happening at other clubs really except Man.City but we arn't supprised what they are doing.

just an observation, think roy is doing a cracking job and really expect him to bring out the best in some of our under-achievers....lucas, babel etc etc. given time i think he will transform our squad and performances to a brand of football we haven't seen for a good few years. most of our first team are "footballers" and NOT "workhorses" (except for kuyt!) which is what rafa made them into.
confidence and freedom with the players we have now will see us as a much stronger force...and see players with smiles on their faces!
he transformed and improved duff, dempsey, zamora etc so imagine he does the same with nando, stevie, joe cole, babel, agger etc etc (yes, they can all improve!). add to that a couple of quality additions, (and only a few if the takeover happens....let roy be constructive and not destructive....we only need a couple!) we would then have a very strong squad capable of challenging again, a fantastic team morale and free-flowing football. most teams aren't strengthening too much so the gap would no longer be that great...... cautious but happy days ahead!
red matt (any thoughts?)

i no this insint really a rumour but it cant be just me that realise we need a top class striker more then a replacment for masch. so with the names that have been thrown around recently such agureo and hunterlar it would make more sense to use all the masch funds to go out and get one. any thoughts on the ED

Anyone else notice that only Nando, Kuyt & Pepe were back at training yesterday... Where is Babel?

Ryan 'O

Yeah noticed that too, thought it was weird. Google search finds that, according to his twitter, he was at Melwood with the rest of them - wonder why the site would not include him though, mistake or not? or is he injured maybe?

What is needed for LFC is an owner with a footballing brain. Not just a money man who will destroy all what LFC is about. An example of this is Man City. Spending millions on average players and paying them a fortune every week. YAYA Tore 200k per week. If he is worth that then Torres and Gerrard should be on 400k per week as they are twice the player he will ever be. We need an owner to come in and clear the club of debt. Build the stadium with their own money so the club remains debt free. with a debt free club and a 60,000 + stadium the club would be self suffecent. TV money to the manager every year for transfer funds in the ball park of 80 million and all other monies taken into the club through tickets and merchandise sales to run the club behind the scene. This is the way forward. Come on the POOL

03 Aug 2010 14:10:55
Nice one Ed, for finally having a Liverpool only rumours page, because i for one do not give a sh*t who anyone else buys!!

PARKER?

I really hope PARKER is not on our radar, he s not LFC quality at all, LUCAS is miles better than him ! Id rather us get younger hungry players like say DEFOUR, BANEGA, GAGO, HAMSIK, enquiry about HUDDLESTONE?

LB - TAIWO?
CB - CAHILL?
MID - as above?
WINGERS - RUIZ/ TURAN?
FORWARD - C.COLE?

is what we need to improve on.

We need to buy better than we have?

I TOTALLY DISAGREE WITH YOU COMMENTS REGARDING PARKER. GRANTED HE IS NO SPRING CHICKEN AND PROBABLY OVERPRICED BUT HE HAS THE SAME ATTRIBUTES AS MASC AND LUCAS, ARGUABLY NOT AS STRONG DEFENSIVELY AS MASC BUT HE ADDS SO MUCH MORE GOING FORWARD. I REMEMBER WHAT GARY MAC DID FOR US AND I COULD SEE PARKER OFFERING SOMETHING SIMILAR. I WILL FEEL MORE CONFIDENT THIS SEASON IF WE HAVE MORE PROVEN PLAYERS FROM THE PREMIERSHIP, IDEALLY BRITISH, THAN UNPROVEN RISKY FOREIGNERS. THIS WAS RAFA'S WAY AND IT WORKED FOR SOME PLAYERS BUT THE MAJORITY WERE JUST FLOPS.

IF SOMETHING HAPPENS BEFORE THE END OF THE TRANSFER WINDOW AND ROY HAS SOME EXTRA FUNDS TO PLAY WITH, I'M HOPING WE SEE SWP, PARKER AND THEN A REALLY BIG ADDITION UP FRONT. CAN'T SEE AGUERO COMING BUT THAT WOULD BE THE ONE IF THE MONEY WAS RIGHT. I'VE SEEN TEVEZ BEING MENTIONED AGAIN AND I JUST CANNOT BELIEVE CITY WOULD SELL HIM, ESPECIALLY TO A TEAM WHO HAS THE STRIKER THEY ARE CONTINUALLY CHASING! WITH A BIG NAMED STRIKER PLUS ANOTHER YOUNG TALENT SUCH AS WICKHAM, THE FUTURE COULD BE EXTREMELY BRIGHT WITH LFC SERIOUSLY CHALLENGING THIS SEASON.

I'M JUST A BIT WORRIED ABOUT THE FIRST FEW GAMES. TORRES SEEMS TO BE OUT SO WE ARE TOOTHLESS UP FRONT AND I JUST CANNOT SEE ROY GETTING ANY NEW HEADS IN BEFORE WE PLAY ARSENAL OR CITY.

To all the people saying that liverpool will get aguero. Some of the biggest clubs in the world are bidding for him he will cost over 25 million and he wants champions leauge football why the hell wud he cum to liverpool we have no money to buy him aswell even if we do sell macherano and these new owners who we might not even get are not super rich the will just give the club stability. Get used to the 5 million signings for a few years becasue there will be no more massive signings for a long time.

And so let the rubbish talk end. Torres has pledged his future to Liverpool. Must be confident of the takeover completing then.

03 Aug 2010 14:00:06
Ed, Torres committed offical its on the liverpool website what do you reckon?

03 Aug 2010 13:58:26
Not a rumour just my take on things.
Will people just calm down about the take over talk, saying this player and that player will be coming. I just hope that who ever takes over will not saddle the club with any debt, and lets Roy get on with running the team.
I hope Roy plays alot of youth team players in all cup competitions this season uefa, carling, fa. Keeping the first team fit, so the club can get back into the champs league for next season. Then perhaps things might happen the following season with a new stadium/new players etc. But most important is this is not another "new dawn" but steady improvement of the club.

03 Aug 2010 13:56:03
Torres just stated on lfc tv he staying stating lfc best club in the world he feels at home and really looking forward to start of new season. Delighted finally!!!!!!!!!!!!!

03 Aug 2010 13:55:21
Not so much a rumour but more of a hope.

this may come a surprise to most lfc fans but with the impending sale mascherano the club are keen to find a replacement and my #1 would be Carrick! #2 Huddlestone

every lfc fan knows that one of the key factors for last season's poor effort was a lack of creativity and distribution form the centre of the park. i.e. the loss of alonso.

the two players above arnt the most aggressive of defensive mids as masch is but their intelligence and understand prevents them ever having to run round like a loon throwing in late challenges to save the day (albeit i love it when masch does it)

ed any thoughts??

03 Aug 2010 13:48:28
All this talk of the take over and the 'if you want messi we will try to deliver you messi' has got me excited. I'll believe it when I see it though!

If this is the case then I think we should not go crazy and do a Man City and have 11 strikers and 3/4 left backs, im sure Roy has better sense than that!

If only David Villa was still at Valencia so we could approach for him, what a bargain at 35 mil.. Even if we went to Barca and offered 70 mill they wouldnt sell and he wouldnt come anyway.

How about Kaka from Real? Mourinho wants shut I think and I think 30/35 mil would get him. Whether he would join is another thing.

I'd like to see, Wayne Bridge, Suarez, Aguero, Defour and a new commanding centre back.

Looking forward to the new season :)

Just wondering how come everything to do with the sale of the club has been so quite and then all of a sudden everything starts to come out. Not getting too excited by this news as i get a feeling the Americans will try there best to ruin any deal involving debt being bought off rbs and no profit for themselves. Nice to here huang talk about massive investment hopefully if true one marquee signing and a major overhaul in January.

03 Aug 2010 13:23:24
Defour will be presented to the press next week. His £10m move to Liverpool will be concluded by the weekend. His transfer involves Philipp Degen going the other way as well. Liverpool will put him in bumper £65000 per week wages, to ward off any late Man Utd interest. This will be the only signing before Huang takes over Liverpool. After Huang takes control, a striker, a left back and a winger will be signed. Edin Dzeko is Huang's main target to partner Torres up front. He will come with a £44m price tag, but Huang doesnt really care. Michel Bastos has also been targeted in a £26m deal. His versatility in playing at left back and left wing has interested Hodgson and Huang, and both want to make the deal happen before he is picked in Lyon's Champions League Squad.

03 Aug 2010 13:22:02
Despite the possibility of a takeover, Liverpool manager Roy Hodgson is keen to bolster his attacking options in the event that additional funds do not materialise. Currently in his sights are free-agent Marlon Harewood and Columbian veteran Hamilton Ricard, as the manager seeks to bring in cover for the injury-prone Fernando Torres.

Hi All,
Wouldent hold your breath over a quick sale regarding LFC.

I have just read that all bids regarding Liverpool FC has to go before a 5 man Committee and they...and they alone will decide what bid and buyer to go for.

Now... The 5 man Committee is : Gillett, Hicks, Broughton, Purslow and Ian Ayre.

Im sorry and hope im wrong but there is no way these three men are going to sit there and go against Gillett and Hicks.
Obviousy there could be a great offer on the table for LFC but if this offer is not favourable to both Hicks and Gillett then they are going to kick it out and go for the one that suits them best and not the club.

If im wrong or am missing something Mr Editor then please correct me and tell me how you think the voting would go and if the other three would go against Gillett and Hicks.

Thank you for your time,

I've just seen Kenny Huang arrive at Anfield in a shiny new Maybach car. He was greeted by Martin Broughton and what looks like one of the sons of Gillett or Hicks and walked into the executive end of the stadium. I have been up a ladder for most of the day fixing a telegraph pole and spotted the car pull up.

Looks like its a done deal.

Having not scored during the pre-season matches (bar the 2 David N'Gog goals in Europa qualifier), if no takeover is completed, the Javier Mascherano transfer money will be used to sign another striker to partner Fernando Torres, and a winger. Arda Turan, Hatem Ben Arfa and Charles N'Zogbia(classed as homegrown). The strikers being looked at are Peter Crouch, Keisuke Honda and Carlton Cole. The central midfielders will be Gerrard, Lucas, Aquilani, Spearing and Shelvey.

This is what the team will look like if the takeover goes through
Reina
Johnson Carra Agger Taiwo
Alonso Gerrard Aquilani
Cole Torres Young

Reina

Johnson Carragher Agger Bridge/Figueroa

Kuyt/Cole Gerrard(C) Mascha/Defour Turan/Jovanovic

Torres Aguero

LFC Rumours: ins: Defour £10-£13 millon

Huang might not be as good fro the club as we think!

There are others interested parties usual suspects: al kahrafi family, sheik mo among others

Anyone else notice that only Nando, Kuyt & Pepe were back at training yesterday... Where is Babel?

03 Aug 2010 12:49:38
RH has already started drawing up a list of players he will try to sign if the new owners are willing to invest in the club. Top of his list is German Pair Ozil and Lahm.

Expect some red faces at Old Trafford as SAF has been dragging his feet on the Ozil deal hooping to sign him on a precontract in January!

03 Aug 2010 12:38:40
to ed

briallant idea for the liverpool rumours site

i have heard the deal could be done by this friday and the annoucement made early next week monday or tuesday.

players we could sign with money avaibable

expect ashley young and james milner
also aquero could sign
connor wickham as well as he is young and hodgson wants him

mashercano is defo leaving.

On the stadium issue i am not going to say the spade will be in the ground in 60 days but expect work to begin before christmas and wil be ready for 2012-2013 season. it will be 65 thousand seats which could be extended to 80 thousand if transport links improve and the railway line reopens.

03 Aug 2010 12:34:42
not much of a rumour just common sence really i think theres dark days ahead for the pool im afraid lads if the yanks dont get a profit from the club they could just be spiteful and just fold the club and go bankrupt like they did in the states with an football team hicks own'd they would'nt have paid anything themselves so there be no loss

03 Aug 2010 12:29:38
I think,if we have new owners in 2 weeks time, the team should look something like this.
Reina
johnson carra agger taiwo(this guy is very good!)
turan gerrard aqualani j.cole
aguero
torres09
subs: ngog,banega,shelvey,lucas,jovanovic,pacheco,kelly,darby,spearing(loan?),skrtel,kyrgiakos,aurelio
what do you guys think? I just think this team can win the title...i hope we do because i was born a year after liverpool won their last league title! YNWA JOSHUA SA

03 Aug 2010 12:10:55
Ed according to SSN and BBC sport kenny huang isn't the only bidder in for liverpool. apparently there are 'several' do you have any ideas who they might be?

03 Aug 2010 12:08:59

WINGERS - RUIZ/TURAN?
FORWARD - C.COLE?

is what we need to improve on.

We need to buy better than we have?

03 Aug 2010 12:07:09
Just want to clarify something about the takeover from Kenny Huang. Many of you here stated here that the bid is only for control of the club because he is only bidding for the debt and he must later bid for a full takeover. That is wrong, the club was brought by the Yanks with the banks money, and they have put in little or no money in themselves. The club initially was sold for around 250 million when we were in the Champions league and the economy booming now the whole world is in a recession and Liverpool are out the ECL the yanks say its worth 800 million. Are they stupid! These business people that are bidding for Liverpool now that it is worth no where near that amount. That's why the bid by Kenny Huang is for 100% not just the control.

OK, something about the side I can't see any players coming in before the takeover is complete. That means no left back, which we badly need cus Insua must be the worst left-back in the country. Roy will play Agger at left back till we get a new left back.

EDITOR YESTERDAY I HAD SAID POULSEN TO LIVERPOOL FOR 5.5 MILLION EVEN THOUGH HIS AGENT DENIED IT .......AND NOW ITS IN THE ECHO THAT WE ARE PRESSING A DEAL FOR HIM.....EDITOR BACK ME UP ON THIS .....I EVEN MENTIONED WE WILL MAKE A COMBINED BID OF 12 MILLION FOR BRIDGE AND SHAUN WRIGHT PHILIPS AND LASTLY A 10-12 MILLION BID FOR DEFOUR........YNWA...

Re: Striking options

I think the 8 goals and further development this season will see Ngog as a capable/ adequate cover in the future, also would love to see Nemeth, Paheco and Dalle Valle given chances this term. However, with us looking for pace to accompany Torres or replace him going forward when he is injured, i reckon Cisse may just be an option. He's proved he will score in the EPL at Sunderland and in Europe over in Greece. As a back up striker who has stated he would love to come back ( alright I know most who leave would love to play again at Anfield!) I would certainly consider him myself ahead of Crouch. Cisse also played as a wide man for us before he left, if he worked on his distribution from wide positions and crossing, then his pace could well be what we are looking for at this time.

03 Aug 2010 11:56:36
finally it appears englands biggest club are moving in the right direction, lets hope its done asap.

maybe now now with these rumours they can be turned in to reality and give all us kopites the optimism weve been waiting so long for.

arda turan, juan mata, and maybe sergio agureo.

Just a great big chuck up to the ED for this site. Really appreciated.
To all the people who expect or want to pay out silly money we do not have on people we may not need or want? Get real lads If we get brought out. Do we want to end up in a mess of debt again?
To those of you who want to sell out to anyone that none of us know. That is how we got in this mess. This is our club. I would like it back. Run properly. by people who are, but good business people too. We do not need loads of players who want fancy salaries, that is what is ruining football. we want players who have passion and commitment for the team the manager and for us the supporters. Wh want to wear the Red shirt with pride. I like what I see in the Kids coming through. We need tweaking a little by Roy. So lets get behind the manager and team all of them. No more division between us the suppoorters. Lets see what unfolds over the next few weeks? Thank you Editor for our site.............. Kiwi

Just been saying on sky sports that Liverpool are hopeful of a takeover being done by the end of next week, there a 5 or 6 offers and is no front runner, the five man board of Hicks,Gillet,Broughton,Purslow and Ayres are running the rule over the bids to see which is best for the clubs and could mean that H&G dont get the final say if B,P & A agree on one of the bids that the Yanks are against (vote of 3 to 2),anyone know if this is the truth or just Sky making their own assumptions

Bravo

03 Aug 2010 11:39:06
This whole situation is clear to me!
6 other bids? Yeah right... there are no other "real" bids as yet on the table. MB comin out and saying "they will choose the winning bid in 10 days" is basically saying to anyone else, PUT UP OR SHUT UP, show your hand show your bid or the club will go to Kenny.
Expect the next 10 days to have all other potential bidders to finally show thier cards and for a flurry of activity at Anfield!

Hi Ed, first time here. Great idea to separate us from the rest. Well done. Now, I live in Albania, where a news chanel (ORA-NEWS), closely linked will all things italian football and serie A, reported last night that AS Roma are bracing themselves for an opening 7 million pounds bid for Mexes, their central defender. They went as far as saying that Roma are counting on it. This is the first time I hear us being linked with him and I know that he is worth more than 7 million, but thought to pass it on anyway.

Great Job

In response to Lucus comments, the man doesn't have the ability to give a forward ball. If i had a pound for every time i saw him take the ball off defence and give it back to them straight away I would be buying Liverpool... He's not what we need, If his sale so much as paid for the flight over for Benega i would let him go. There is a man that can make something happen from the middle of the park and a decent tackler.

To all the people saying where is our transfer money coming from then read this !!

Even as Liverpool's board negotiates takeover bids with potential new owners, its highly acclaimed commercial team have secured another new partnership.

Jack Wolfskin, the German clothing brand, will be a feature at Anfield for the next three years after signing a new deal to sponsor Liverpool. The move comes as the brand looks to up its brand recognition in the UK - it also sponsored the Emirates Cup, Arsenal's pre-season tournament this wekeend - and follows a string of sponsorships it has signed in German sport in recent years.

It is also the latest in a string of sponsorships secured by Liverpool's commercial team. Most notable was the club's new shirt sponsorship deal with Standard Chartered, worth well in excess of US$100 million over the length of its contract.

"The decision to partner with a popular and historical club such as Liverpool was in keeping with our goals of increasing brand recognition in the UK by using the popularity of football and to attract new target groups to the outdoor clothing market. This strategy builds on the huge success that Jack Wolfskin has had on the domestic market," said Manfred Hell, managing director of Jack Wolfskin GmbH & Co. KGaA, to the official Liverpool website

"For many years, sponsoring the German league has been one of the most important elements of Jack Wolfskin's brand promotion in Germany, which is why we are all the more delighted to be active with England's most successful club as part of this expansion abroad. This unique combination of tradition and success and the inimitable legend of Anfield Road would set any football fan's heart racing."

Ian Ayre, Liverpool FC's commercial director, addedL "We welcome Jack Wolfskin to our family of partners. They are seeking to expand their business in the UK, and our goal is to help them increase awareness of their products that are designed for high altitude and outdoor activities."

Been a little while since i have posted, my sources are being awefully quiet.

However, i have heard that this takeover is only in its first stage and has alot of negotiating left to do. Broughton is eager to rush the deal through because he wants funds available for Roy to spend so expect a deal within a week or so.

Huang has massive financial backing and will provide a huge transfer budget for Roy which will be spent on alot of big name players. my source is usually quite accurate so believe what you like.

In my opinion Liverpool football club are only a couple of players away from making a title challenge, a year ago there was sooo much hype about the LFC title challenge, we have lost none of our big players (minus Alonso) but gained Joe Cole and Jovanovic. Taking all this into consideration including the fact that our manager is likely to actually play our best line-up rather than Rafa who seemed to think that taking Torres off when we are 1 goal down is a good move i believe all these money drunk sh*tty fans are going to have a massive suprise how strong we are.

Thats all.

In Roy we trust.

03 Aug 2010 10:50:18
Liverpool are close to selling Javier Macsherano for 25-28million, with this money one of 3 players will replace him...

Steven defour of Standard Liege
Scott Parker of West Ham
Cristian Poulsen of Juventus

all indications are pointing towards Defour but dont be supirsed if Scott Parker is the man roy hodgson goes for.

I have also heard that Arda Turan and Darren Bent are possible signings if this cash injection happens before the transfer window closes.

03 Aug 2010 10:48:06
Not a rumour but just sick of muppets who blame Lucas for everything that was wrong with Liverpool last season. He was one of our most consistant performers last season, i know this as i attend all the games and get to see him 1st hand. Towards the end of the season when he played in his preferred posistion he looked a quality player and managed a few goals too. People need to realise he isnt a defensive midfielder and its unfair to judge a player who was always asked to play in a position not suited to his ability. Given the freedom to attack a bit more im sure all these muppets would be made to eat there words!!!!!

03 Aug 2010 10:46:43
The guy defending Lucas and saying he was very consistent and made over "100 tackles" ...
He actually has the worst record of "most fouls made without a booking"

' just a thought but isn't that a good thing (most fouls without a booling)'

03 Aug 2010 10:46:42
This isn't a rumour or anything and I know it isn't our number one priority but if we do get bought and there are significant funds how much do you think the centre back Michael Dawson would cost us? Remember Harry did say that funds were tight.

Personally I think it would be a good buy as he is English and Carra is past his best.

03 Aug 2010 10:20:04
hi, i'm from austria and a big lfc fan. first i'm sorry for my english. today i read in the newspaper "KRONEN ZEITUNG" that mr kenny huong, a chinese milliadär, held talks with the royal bank of scotland about a takeover. i had to reed it twice. there was nothing written before about the takeover in this newspaper. could this be true ed?

03 Aug 2010 10:16:56
Is it just me or does this whole situation remind me of what happened the last time LFC was sold with the then chairman tossing up between potential bidders and changing his mind to pick the lying yanks...
Please dont make the same cock up again... Extremely worried that 5 men who have votes on who they hand the front door keys to have no REAL interest in who gets the club...
Ones a Chelsea season ticket holder who knows hes gone once the deal goes through... and the 2 Muppets would sell the club to the devil himself for the right price...

The clock is reaching zero hour... please just get it right so we are not goin through this again in a years time...

03 Aug 2010 10:11:22
Ed - inspirational idea the new LFC site.

I personally would like to see more pace in our side, as ask any defender you can have all the skill in the world but there frightened to death of sheer pace.

With this Id look at proper wingers like the fellow RUIZ/TURAN Roy was linked with this season. When we came 2nd, we had wingers in place and tore teams apart ? With Riera gone i think we need at least 1 class winger ?

With Torres staying but not 100% fit , we definitely a backup striker? personally i wouldnt want Crouch but say Carlton Cole instead??

Importantly we need hungry players whom want to fight for our club? anyone who comes out and says there unhappy ?! SELL THEM.
Obviously when Masherano goes id be looking at the DEFOUR/BANEGA/GAGO type players . I think the DRENTHE fellow would def worth a look as well.

Lastly and it pains me to say but i think Carragher will struggle this season, and perhaps we should look at CAHILL as a long term replacement with AGGER his main partner and SKRTEL as backup with WILSON.

But we was to get say BANEGA or GAGO or DEFOUR we d pass teams to death in the middle of the park before the wingers/forwards run riot.

Still think HONDA would be a gold mine if not just for commercial reasons but he had quality.

Wenger always seems to buy technical gifted players, i think LFC should do the same.

REINA
JOHNSON
AGGER
???? CAHILL
???? TAIWO
GERRARD
AQUA
COLE
BABEL - Id give him this year to really prove himself
JOVA - See how he gets on but also look at RUIZ/TURAN
TORRES

Bench :- MAXI, KUYT, LUCAS, NGOG, WILSON, INSUA
Carragher.

A stronger bench but no match winners left on there?

Thoughts ? ONBYLFC

Let me just say that Paul Scharner has been told by his agent that Liverpool is NOT interested in signing him. The reason is that the latest developments regarding the takeover of the club will open for getting "bigger" and better players than the austrian. I know this because he played in my local club SKBrann Bergen in Norway before he went to Wigan and still keeps in touch with his friends here in Bergen. This should also be good news regarding the takeover. It seems to be imminent. Scharner is very disappointed because Liverpool would be a dream-move for him.

03 Aug 2010 09:58:03
I keep seeing Kuyt as a possible outgoing playing - is there any truth in this Ed?? I have always rated him as a player, and a few in the squad could learn a thing or too from his work ethic.

03 Aug 2010 09:52:08
re:Lucas

I was not a big fan of Lucas and have constantly referred to him as a cross between cart horse and a russian tractor. HOWEVER to be fair to the lad the real problem was not him, but playing alongside Mascherano. In games where Mascherano wasn't on the pitch with him he has the space to 'do his thing' and he is actually very good. Good tackle, passes OK, heads OK, gets forward unmarked. I actually think his problem was our system of two deep defensive midfielders. I think if he were in a more orthodox system of he playing the deep midfielder behind to attacking mids, or even in a standard 4-4-2 you would see him excel.

Does anyone know where masch is? im just wondering what the little argi is up to? is he already abroad?i dont know if he reported back training, also a good move re-signing aurellio when fit he is a good techincal player, the kind we need as a squad member who can fill in centre or anywhere on the left

whats the odds on carlton cole to anfield?

JUST A REPLY TO:

The guy defending Lucas and saying he was very consistent and made over "100 tackles" ...
He actually has the worst record of "most fouls made without a booking"

He cant pass, cant shoot, cant tackle and cant sprint. So why do so many people say "lets give him a chance"??

When are we going to realise than replacing Alonso with Lucas cost us? Gerrard doesnt trust him and thats why he had such an average season. He was not able to optimise his presence behind the striker as he did so awesomely the season before- Why?

Becoz of Lucas- Masch might be leaving, and we begrudge his lack of loyalty. but lets be honest, he is immense and far better than Lucas.

Count how many headers Lucas has missed from 5 yards out last season... the only one he put away was the OG vs Villa.

Huang will signal the end of Lucas and LFC will return to ECL.

So stop "giving the guy a chance" - hes had at least 50 and he is no where near good enough.

I have a mate Steve who is 99.9 % sure that nothing is happening at anfield this week. No players coming in, no deal to buy the club, we have no money so where all these rumours come from i have no idea. How are we buying all these players without any money gets me.
Don't get me wrong i want all these great players but at the end of the day we can't afford any of them at the current time.

03 Aug 2010 09:07:22
I had a dream last night that we were going to buy Sergio Aguero but that it meant we were selling Mascherano. Very vivid dream. Wonder if there was anything in that. Just thought I'd share

All LFC fans need to relax and enjoy the ride. None of us can change the impending sale or know about any dealings in the transfer market. I always try and check and it drives me insane. Just take a deep breath and relax. I am sure that any new owner(s) will make a marquee signing to appease the fans. The rest is up to the team.Remeber, "Soccer is a simple game of giving and recieving passes complicated by idiots". Bill Shankly. Our team needs to start playing as a unit instead of to any one players strengths. They need to play for each other as we did when we came 2Nd.Torres is not the end of LFC. Did we die when Owen,Keegan etc. leave? No. We have to prevail!

Please fellow Reds, do not get too excited - The offer on the table does not mean a take over of the club, just the debt being repaid - Granted, it put them in a position where a full takeover would be easy, but it could take months of negoiation to achieve that - so do not expect this to happen quickly

Just responding to this comment:
'Lucas is simply not good enough for LFC and to be honest, he wouldnt get into any other Top 12 prem midfield.'

May I suggest you did not watch Liverpool play last season? Give the guy a break - I admit he was poor in his first season, but he is improving almost every game and, as far a consistency is concerned, was far better than the majority of the team last season, and I include Gerrard in that - He was one of only six players in the premier league to complete over 100 'clean' tackles (beating Scott Parker for example, who we are potentially looking to sign). So, try to forgive his poor start for the Reds and accept him for what he is - A ball winning midfielder who (now) rarely gives the ball away (unlike Mascharano) - Will be a big season for him and even better if the real fans get behind him!

03 Aug 2010 02:13:50
Ed- Nice touch with this site!

About the Sale: From a business point of view, investing NOW and getting back in to the ECL would be the best choice for further profit gains as an owner/board with bonuses. and filling, the alleged news of, a new stadium v.soon. =would mean you could get more money for advertising cuz the new stadium is going to be world news etc etc.

I am hoping, whomever and whenever the club is bought, as long as we continue to have good infrastructure and A CLUB WITH NO DEBT (either borrowing from the owner or banks) we can win the league and challenge heavily every year with money generated from good media rights and advertising, the spirit of the club will remain and that will continue to give LFC players an edge over the rest but still a decent pot for adding an addition or 2 a year.

But I think Roys on to something good whether theirs money involed or not. what are your thought Ed??

hahaha love how we overpowered a whole (magnificent) website and forced the (legend) editor to make our own rumour site. YNWA lads.

i have no inside info but was just wanting to share my logic. I think with the players we have this season (assuming there are no big transfers in or out) our formation will become a 4-3-3, both spain and barcelona use it, so it cant be too bad considering their success.

...............................Reina,
Johnson,...Carragher/Skrtyl,....Agger,....Aurelio/Insua,
..........Gerrard,...Mascherano/Lucas,...Aquilani,
........Cole/Pacheco,...Torres/N'Gog,...Babel/Kuyt.

I think ye all should have a look at an article by Nick Harris from Sporting Intelligence in relation to this Chinese Billionaire before we get too excited.
JoseK

And who do you think put that out there mate ?
The Americans.

Anyway, this chinese geezer is a broker in a similar vain to Stavely. He hasnt the wealth to buy us. Nobody knows to much about him but but we dont want a sugar daddy, we wont decent, respected owners.
The days of big money spending will soon be over anyway withe new rules coming in.

I dont believe any of it anyway. Its all a front to hide the fact that LFC will not be investing into the team between now and 1st Sept. The Yanks will blame the "Takeover" talks for the lack of investment.

Just got a text from someone who has been reliable in the past giving weight to the Shevchenko rumour. Apparantly he's had a fall out with Kiev boss Gazzaev and is ready to hand in a transfer request to force the move. Roy's a long time fan but obviously couldn't get him to swap colours in Milan.
