ED, with Eden Hazzard anouncing he wants to join a bigger club what are City's chances? I ask as the whole Adam Johnson thing is interesting me as there is definate friction between him and Manchini, I noticed him not really celebrating his goals despite some being crackers.

Im sure if Hazzard was to join and Johnson made surplas there is a good chance of him joining -McMenemy {Ed001's Note - there is a very good chance, if they can't get their first choice target, Di Maria.}

I dont think Barcelona will be in the running,i think he will end up at City Chelsea or Madrid.

Ed, there have been rumours that Bolton want Flanagan and Sterling on loan in January, any truth in it and would it be good for Liverpool?

Keith {Ed002's Note - The rumours are untrue - it would be a breach of the loan rules.}

Cheers Ed, you're the best!

Keith

Flanagan n robinson shud defo go on loan to team like bolton.
Need the exp. Look at welbeck n sturridge afta havin loan moves.
Sterling n others like suso morgan ngoo shud b loand to championship or league 1 {Ed001's Note - remember you have to be 18 to go out on loan, which ruled Robinson out of a loan deal in the summer, just!}

Ed can you please explain what ruling it is in breach of {Ed001's Note - Sterling is not old enough to go out on loan.}

Flanaghan and Tony Silva, then. We can also throw in Coady as well.

BooDaBooze {Ed001's Note - only one can go out on loan at a time to another Premier League team.}

I think some of you guys should stop giving crap to ed002. He is good enough to reply to your posts anyway.If you don't like what he tells you that is because he tells the truth.players like hazard will not be coming.so get over it.Changing the subject and onto a more realistic target.With Gerrard being very injury prone at the moment do you see us making a bid for moussa sissoko in january ed?or the summer?
Cheers
Danny
{Ed002's Note - I expected a bid last summer and don't understand why the club did not make one. Dalglish did bring Henderson and Adam in to midfield but Sissoko would give a lot more options to the side. As such, I am not sure that the club will do anything further with Sissoko - we know Comolli's view and nothing has happened already. On the plus side I am sure we will soon know if tehre is interest again. Somebody earlier mentioned James McCarthy and that does make you think he could be an option although there is no obvious interest. I guess the thought of a move for a midfield player will be something that the management team are mulling over again.}

Liverpool are interested in fc twentes luuk de jong.but i have also heard they are interested in fe twentes cb douglas.do you think there could be any truth in this ed?I have seen him a few times and i think he could make the step to the premier league.
cheers

Danny {Ed001's Note - I have no idea mate, I just know we are closely monitoring Twente and Luuk De Jong is definitely of interest. But I couldn't tell you if we are watching other players of theirs.}

Thanks for reply mate

Danny

Leroy Fer, Roberto Rosales, Douglas, Nacer Chadli if not luuk de jong

Hi eds!

Been reading on Twitter, supposedly we're interested in Dejan Lovren. Any truth in it or just merely speculation? How do you rate him?

Matty08 {Ed001's Note - I have not seen much of him to be honest, but we have checked him out this season.}

31 Oct 2011 17:57:55
I ed what are the chances of liverpool signing jordan ibe heard he rejected a move to fulham to push for a move to lfc {Ed002's Note - The chances are decent but there appears to be interest from the likes of Manchester City, Manchester United and the other major players. If the kid thinks with his head he will stay where he is for a year or two or move to a lower profile club (perhaps Fulham or West Ham) otherwise I fear another player lost down the line at some point - Tom Taiwo, John Bostock, David Amoo. Think of how long it took Scott Sinclair to get settled after his move from Bristol Rovers.}

Who is this jordan?

nz {Ed001's Note - kid who burst into the first team of Wycombe at 15.}

I honestly think we have enough talent in our reserves and academy. If we did buy Jordan Ibe he would be competing with Sterling, Coady, Suso, etc.
ak {Ed002's Note - He would be a year younger at least than those.}

this rumor going round
Quote:
New stadium on the park but new design. 74k but dependent on council otherwise its 68k. Looking like Standard Charthered sponsoring it and Allianz Architects are doing it. Sep 2014 move in supposedly.

Liverpool close in on naming-rights partner

Liverpool have narrowed the search for a stadium naming-rights partner down to just three global companies.

And that could see the Anfield club finally make a decision over their ground by the end of the year - with a new state-of-the-art 70,000-seat arena the likely outcome.

The club has been given another extension over planning consents by the local council, who are keen to work in partnership to develop the area.

That has offered breathing space, as owners Fenway Sports examine the financial implications of the two options open to them - redeveloping Anfield, or building a new stadium.

The latter is only viable if Liverpool can find a naming-rights partner who are prepared to pay at least the equal of Arsenal's record-breaking deal at the Emirates, which was worth around £150million.

But with the council's extension now allowing a more sensible negotiating period, confidence is high at Anfield that a deal can be struck with one of the three parties.

Liverpool's current shirt sponsors, Standard Chartered bank, are thought to be one of those companies.

The club believe they can start building work early next year if they find a partner to match their valuation.

The news at least averts the very real threat to Liverpool of having their planning rights rescinded, which would have hit the club massively - and even threatened the future.

Liverpool council though, have worked hard with the club to develop a plan that will also see the local community area developed, which would appease any opposition to the scheme.

Could u give the link to the site please

Would be a modern wonder if we could get it built by 2014 I would expect it to be around 2016 if we went for a newbuild rather than re-developing Anfield. Looks like another dodgy source to be honest with you.

Hi Ed's, I heard that we have interest in Scott Sinclair, is this true? {Ed002's Note - I don't know of any interest in Sinclair but I would have thought the priority would be the right, not the left where Downing has been bought for. If Swansea get relegated perhaps the summer is a good time.}

i have seen many of the fans talking about finding the next gerrard.some of em think it should be eriksen,hazard and etc.but i think our new gerrard is already in the team bt not in the form of a midfielder.its suarez!who else?gerrard used to be our drive going foward and now suarez is doing it..he is the centre of mostly all our attacks.suarez might not be a through and through red in the future bt at the moment it's not something that we should concentrate.pls post this ed's.

I was just thinking the same thing earlier...spookey .
JR

I believe that it would be unfair to burden Suarez with the same responsibility that Gerrard has had to carry for years. Stevie has single-handedly driven the team forward and it would make more sense to build a top quality midfield around Suarez rather than place all of the onus on his shoulders. Names like Erikssen and Goetze would be fantastic additions to the team. We seem to have missed out on Hazard but surely M'Vila and Sissoko are within our range. Add in a top quality, pacy wide player for the right of our attack and we will be well on our way to being a permanent top 2 team. Just my opinion but hope that others agree.

Your talking borrox mate when people talking erikson sissokko they talking quality midfielders not strikers , gerrards a world class midfielder not a out and out striker. {Ed002's Note - Liverpool had a chance of Sissoko in teh summer and he was clearly number 1 on the list for Comolli. I guess Dalglish does not want him, but if he changes his mind the kid is still available.}

31 Oct 2011 16:47:22
Ed do you know of any interest from us in marco reus? {Ed002's Note - No. Reus has been playing well and has a growing reputation - enough to alert Bayern Munich - his likely destination at some point. They have been interested since the early summer.}

Ed001 or 2, have we been asked to be informed of Luuk de Jong' status or are we just watching him? Also do you think we'll make a bid in the window for him or Moussa Sissoko because i was wondering how much they'd cost ? It seems like we'd after off load a couple of players namely i'm afraid to say it Maxi, maybe Kuyt while we can still get some half decent money for him, more to free up some wages then his ability. Thanks, amazing job Eds. Where's Ed009 these days? Jonson

{Ed002's Note - De Jong's availability has been discussed with his club by Liverpool, Lille and Newcastle. I would guess that he would cost £12.65M. Toulouse's Moussa Sissoko is a fine player and has attracted interest from Lyon, Roma, Genoa, Juventus, Liverpool and probably Napoli. Arsenal and Milan's previous interest waned over the summer. Damien Comolli let Sissoko's agent know that Liverpool see his man as the ideal long-term replacement for Steven Gerrard but for some reason Liverpool failed to make the final push in the summer. Sissoko is available but both Roma and Lyon appear to still have the edge over other interested clubs. I don't really undersdtand why Liverpool are not pushing and have made no further enquiries about the player, but he is still available.}

31 Oct 2011 15:05:32
Do u think we might sign alonso back in january? {Ed002's Note - No, I think it very unlikely.}

31 Oct 2011 13:09:32
Is it a likely possibilty that liverpool could move for Christen eriksen as a long term replacment for gerrard, or will he be joining barca or madrid? Plus do you think that with Adam johnsons recent form city will ask a ridiculous price if liverpool move for him? {Ed002's Note - Liverpool, Manchester City, Arsenal, Chelsea and AC Milan have shown an interest in Eriksen. He has already rejected both Manchester City and Chelsea but AC Milan remain the most interested club. Back in mid July someone from the Milan Press Office said he had heard of interest from Manchester United - but I am not aware of any confirmation of that interest. I doubt that January is an option for a move to Liverpool, but perhaps the summer. Could be expensive. Manchester City will want as much as they can get when Johnson is eventually sold - perhaps £20M plus.}

I don't think he's coming to our shoers at all, being a spurs fan if push came to shove he would fancy spurs anyhow, and with word that lennon could be on his way its understood spurs are looking at either marin or muniain joining with erikson looking at spain

Why would be prefer Spurs? There are at least three significant questions for Spurs next season that are enough to dissuade any player from going there long term:

(1) Redknapp will most likely leave to manage England, which leaves doubt over who the next manager will be;

(2) Brad Friedel will either retire or next season will be his last, which means Tottenham needs to sign a keeper; and

(3) Spurs will either buy Adebayor, which will set them back in terms of being able to afford Eriksen, or Levy will not buy him resulting in a striker vacancy.

There are other questions relating to whether Modric will stay and will King be healthy enough for Spurs to rely on him instead of buying another defender (Gallas isn't getting any younger, and King is already 31).

Spurs play some nice football, and have some top quality players in Modric, VDV, and Bale. However, if the club doesn't make CL, then it's hard to see any new top quality players coming in without one of those three leaving first. That's also assuming that Lennon leaves! I guess we'll just have to wait and see what happens, but I think it's pretty unlikely that Eriksen will move to Spurs.

I don't think Liverpool's chances of signing him are great, but I definitely think there is a much better chance of him moving to Liverpool than Tottenham.

What I said was that if he (erikson) were to choose which club then spurs would be it, the boy is a spurs fan, regardless of what the chelsea fans may think, not for one moment do I think we could buy him, nor did I say we would, as for redknapp if he gets the nod, then spurs will I'm sure get their man! Ancelotti is very much rumoured as its hiddink? & according to the german and polish press guardiola's name has been mentioned due to him wanting a new challenge as from next season? So don't worry about us, a new keeper will be a must, leandro damiao is due in january so lets see, but thanks anyway {Ed002's Note - I don't think the Chelsea fans care who Eriksen supports. He has been twice for trials at Chelsea (two or three years back) and twice the club turned him down. Chelsea appreoached Ajax about him this year and teh kid turned Chelsea down. As for Ancelotti, do you think Spurs can lure him away from Real Madrid next summer?}

Did Eriksen say he was a Spurs fan? That seems odd. I just didn't think Spurs had much prominence outside of England before the past few years. That would just be really interesting. I assumed he might like Liverpool over a few other English clubs just because he played with Suarez at Ajax and plays with Agger for Denmark, but I was apparently wrong.

Regardless, he has made it pretty clear that he would prefer playing in Spain or another less physical league, so it's a moot point anyway. Maybe it's because Chelsea rejected him twice that he wants to stay away from England. I think if he comes to any club in England it will be Arsenal, but only if the Gunners make CL. I think there is an outside chance of Liverpool because of our style of play and because he would get a good amount of playing time. I really cannot see either Manchester club, Tottenham or Chelsea though because of style of play/playing time reasons.

What was the comment about Ancelotti going to Madrid? That was kind of confusing. Is he going to take over as manager next year, or is he going there to be an assistant?

Thanks so much to all of the editors!

{Ed001's Note - manager mate.}

Yes erikson said he was a spurs fan, and spurs, not much prominence outside england? Shows how ignorant you are, they have a massive following outside of england, if little things please little minds then go ahead and keep thinking what your thinking its probably around your level {Ed002's Note - Does it matter who Eriksen supports?}

No it don't ed, all I said was that the lad was a spurs fan and if he could choose a club over here it would be spurs! Then all of a sudden they (some lfc fans) get all paranoid about it, at times a strange bunch? Ed2, if you had taken the option to take him (erikson) on would mata have joined and what would the dynamics if the team be? {Ed002's Note - Mata does not enter the equation. The trials that Eriksen had at Chelsea were two or three years ago and the club considered the kid to be a little "lightweight" for the EPL. As such any opportunity the club had to sign him then was turned down. Earlier this year, Chelsea spoke with Ajax and made a joint offer for Eriksen and Gregory van der Wiel. When the players were asked if they would consider this, Eriksen made it clear he had no interest of moving to Chelsea at that time.}

I didn't mean to offend. I don't live in England. I live in the U.S., and the only teams I ever see people supporting are United, Arsenal, Liverpool, Chelsea, Barcelona, Real Madrid, AC Milan, Inter, and Bayern. I think I've seen one or two people wearing Tottenham jerseys ever, and I've never seen a Manchester City fan.

I think Tottenham are a very talented club, but I just didn't know they had a lot of supporters. There's nothing wrong with that at all. I actually think it's kind of cool. Liverpool, United, and Arsenal just have a lot of history, so they've been developing a fan base for a long time.

That's cool that he's a Spurs fan though, but I think Ed is right that it doesn't really matter much.

Got to wonder what we are looking at over Gerrard now. Handful of games in a year with a lad on his wages doesn't make sense for us. He has been fantastic and a legend in his own right but if these things keep occuring surely its better to have a player who can play 38 games a season who has slightly less talent than one who plays 15 with some time being spent coming into match fitness etc?

Ed could Liverpool look to move the lad on and is it totally out of the question that Chelsea could take him instead of £40m Modric as a cut price option? {Ed002's Note - I very much doubt that Steven Gerrard will leave Liverpool to play for another team and it is completely out of the question that he will be moving to Chelsea. Modric?}

Dont be a duck

What about modric? Think your chance has been and gone ed!! {Ed002's Note - I don't think there was ever a chance.}

Complete idiot

I agree. I don't think we should support our captain through his injury. Get rid.
Well, some want Carra out, so why not Stevie, too? Even our best player at the moment, Suarez, is getting stick; so he can go,as well.
There's no room for sentiment these days.

Absolutely unbelievable, just where is your respect! Gerrard has been a loyal servant to the club for all of his career and this is the gratitude you pay him - move him on? Like he's a worthless nothing- he has been the life blood of LFC and you can not be a true fan if you can't value what Gerrard can give the team. It's very disappointing to hear people talking in this way.

Its a bit premature to write-off Gerrard and sign his replacement. Sometimes there are setbacks during comebacks - he's not exactly Owen Hargreaves.

As far as I'm concerned, Gerrard can stay on our injury on full pay for 10 years. We owe it to him, he is a fantastic player.
ak

With u on that one mate. he can stay as long as he likes. but am praying it will be no less than 3 days. we need to start winning and winning big.

Idiots like you give real supporters a bad name! Get a grip fella!

I am not advocating moving Gerrard on but in years gone by, successful years at that, players who had been legends for us were moved on, some before their "time " was up IMO. It was all part of what made Liverpool the team that they were at that time. Paisley knew when to move a player on and developed a new player ,even changing slightly the teams style of play to accomodate a new player. I still think that Gerrard has something to offer. He has been immense for us but i also thought that about other greats that went. No matter what happens, and we all know that there is no sentiment in football, Liverpool will remain Liverpool no matter who plays for us. Sometimes you have to let players move aside to bring in the youngsters before they move on themselves and become successful with other teams.
Robbie

It is true that LFC moved many players on in the prime of their careers or when the team was at it's peak however , there are players that played well into their 30's - Phil Neal , Ian Callaghan , Alan Hansen , Kenny Dalglish etc .

The trick is to know when to move a particular player on and there is nothing to suggest the best interests of LFC is to be without Steven Gerrard during this rebuilding phase in LFC history .

Hi Eds, I want to know what are the positions Liverpool would want to fill in the long term if not the winter? You made it clear that De Jong is the considered option for the striker's position. But what about a long term replacment for Stevie since he's now out again. Who are we looking at currently? Any of these would be ideal! Hazard,Gotze,Kagawa,Banega? Ps. I'm not ITK but I still disagree with your stance that LFC surely won't sign Hazard. Barca is overcrowed. So is Real. Inter are bulls**t at the moment and if we do get CL footy we would surely be able to battle with Man Utd. {Ed002's Note - The obvious long-term replacement that is required is for Gerrard. The interest was in Moussa Sissoko and view of Damien Comolli was that he would be an ideal long-term replacement.}

FRom the Daily Express and many of Europe's papers:

"Lille president Michel Seydoux last night signalled the start of a Europe-wide auction that could top £40million by admitting the search for Hazard's replacement had begun.

And the 20-year-old's academy mentor Jean-Michel Vandamme revealed: Chelsea has been following him the closest."¬ù

There is no way that we can compete in bidding at £40 million.

Ollie Kingsley

Would be nice to have a skillful player with a bit of flare like Banega we have adams and henderson as a replacement for Gerrard
Walcot or johnson for the wing and and another striker then i think we are sorted buy cahill for defence too

But Barca and Real Madrid being over crowded I agree but IMO they would be make room for a player of Hazard's class. Sanchez Messi Hazard? Hazard being Villa's replacement next season?

I'd love Hazard at Liverpool but I have moved from the idea of seeing him in a LFC jersey thanks to ed2 lol

Corkpoolred

Ed is sissohko not a DM so would therefore surely clash with lucas? {Ed002's Note - You are thinking of someone else no doubt. Moussa Sissoko is the player Liverpool are interested in. He is not a DM except on some children's games.}

31 Oct 2011 08:28:19
we tried to sign zarate in the last transfer window.
but he went to inter on loan, do you know if we are still interested or keeping tabs. what chance do we have of signing him. {Ed002's Note - No chance in January as he is on a season long loan. Inter have an option to buy him at the end of the season as well.}

31 Oct 2011 08:56:00
Hey Ed, read from caughtoffside ( yes i know they are crap) but it says the mancs wanna sigh Mascherano, at 27 he is not that old. cant we bring him back instead. it wld free up midfield for the other guys. plus he is still loves the club. is there any chance? {Ed002's Note - I don't see he moving back to Anfield, sorry.}

Mascherano's wife will be itching to return to the uk of course pmsl.

Considering his comments about how much he & his wife basically hated living in England, I don't expect this move to happen.
Especially as his old mate Tevez is also likely to leave the country soon too
