Hi Ed’s,

I’ve read today of interest from several English clubs, including Liverpool, in Juve’s Swedish winger Dejan Kulusevski

Are you aware of any truth in it? I’d not heard of the fella but a quick bit of research said he’s a versatile forward who can also play in midfield - so pretty much fits the bill for LFC.

Thanks mate.

{Ed002's Note - Dejan Kulusevski (RW/AM/F) Returned last summer from loan at Parma and has proven himself this past season and will be given the opportunity to replace Dybala or Bernardeschi in the first team going forward. Has been watched by a number of sides but not available unless a very good offer is made. Paratici may see if the player can be taken to Spurs.}

Take him all day long. Actual Klopp era signing.

Would be a quality signing. Think the man can cover central midfield too, so could be two birds with one stone. Probably not going to happen but one can dream.

He’ll go to United. We’ll end up with some dross like Sanches or Ramsey. Or be told that it’s the fourth coming of “Naby la”. Fingers crossed that Henderson and Fabinho make it through the season unscathed or we’ll struggle massively.

Start of the decline this. It’s Souness esc. We’ve actually seen it before. Ageing squad, reluctant to spend, United capitalising on their big money whilst everyone else struggles financially. Luckily we have Klopp because soon we won’t and Stevie will be the one it crumbles around trying to replace a team full of 33 year olds with no money.

Hi Ed, knowing good relationship between LFC and Southampton (i. e. Lallana, Clyne, Lovren, Mane, VVD, Ings and Taki) . is there any chances that LFC is interested in James Ward-Prowse for Gini's replacement? HG players, national team and EPL experienced player.

Agree1 Disagree0

31 Jul 2021 23:17:30
What is all this rubbish of "needing a Gini replacement"? According to the experts on here all last season Gini was "a ghost, didn't influence a game, went missing" etc. So answer me why a fella who, according to the experts on here, did nothing needs replacing?

Agree10 Disagree0

01 Aug 2021 00:09:39
Saul niguez was offered to us and we turned it down too expensive.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed0666's Note - how do you know?

01 Aug 2021 00:32:25
In my opinion it would be very naive to think that Gini's mobility, energy, consistency and workrate doesn't need replacing.

Henderson, Thiago and Fabinho look the starting midfield trio, however, over a full and demanding season will they be able to stand up to the rigours? . if history is anything to go by, probably not.

A club like ours needs, (and should have) players who can really push for first team place (s), if they are not in the first eleven then they need to be pushing those that are, not simply "happy" to be a squad player or content to be on the bench . and if they are selected to be on the bench then when they do get a game they need to be of a level that poses Kloop a true conundrum - "I deserve to start", why? because I am just as good if not better than so and so.

Unfortunately for too long, our first eleven has been excellent and ultra competitive, but after that the level drops.

If Naby could "step up" and produce his Leipzig form, then perhaps we could manage, however that is a big "if", and let's face it, he hasn't been devoid of injury for long enough to even suggest he might - will that change this season/

Curtis Jones has talent, no argument, but for mine simply isn't consistent enough nor is his work rate high enough to command a regular first team place.

01 Aug 2021 00:35:28
What is with the doom and gloom, Klopp leaves Pep takes over does not one else see that? Ageing Squad Behave yourself, Trent (future captain), Konate, Gomez, Jones and Elliot is a good crop of talent to become the mid 30's replacements to worry about in the future. Bidding for Saul requires space in our squad and until that problem is solved I do not see LFC doing any business, but I do see LFC buying 2 quality midfielders either over this and the next 2 transfer windows . so CALM DOWN!

01 Aug 2021 00:38:02
Oh mane mane, we need another midfielder because our options beyond Henderson and Fabinho are not good.

Imagine going against any decent side with Milner, Keita and whoever, we’d get battered. Wijnaldum was being asked to play holding midfielder when both Henderson and Fabinho weren’t being played in midfield which affected his performances as that’s just not in his skill set. Look at our options, we’ve got Thiago who isn’t a midfield anchor and needs to play alongside Fabinho and Henderson to function properly, Milner who is over the hill and not really a centre midfielder (and it shows), Keita who is one of the worst signings the club has ever made and in 3 years has never shown any capacity to play at this level, Ox who isn’t really a centre midfielder and is injury prone, Jones who shows promise but is still too naive in the way he plays.

Given that the functioning of the midfield is critical to the way we play, not replacing Wijnaldum with quality is somewhere between short sighted and extremely negligent.

'Oh Mane Mane', Before you called it a 'Rubbish', you have to know the statistics that Gini is almost always involve in every LFC's matches for his last 5 years. 20/ 21 he was played 37 matches (4 comes from subs), 19/ 20: 37 matches (2 from subs), 18/ 19: 35 (3 from subs), 17/ 18: 33 (6 from subs), 16/ 17: 36 (3 from subs) ; in average of 96%, Gini has involved in his last 5 years EPL matches. 01 Aug 2021 00:54:42
Kindly be informed 'Oh Mane Mane' that I haven't mention how many times Gini has involved in UCL, FA, Carabao, World Club Cup, European Super Cup matches. You cannot judge a player in one season, especially after his contribution with results as LFC as a UCL finalist, 2nd position in EPL with only 1 point difference with City, UCL trophy, Super Cup trophy, World Club trophy and EPL trophy. And do you think, LFC achievement in the middle of DC crisis situation on the last season with 3rd position (pushed back from 6th/ 7th position to 3rd) in EPL and quarter final of UCL, is not because of one of Gini's contribution as a team? . (2nd reply)

Agree1 Disagree0

01 Aug 2021 00:56:34
So c'mon 'Oh Mane Mane' be realistic. Absolutely we don't want to see our late to find replacement for Lovren even as a back up Central Defender last season will happening again on Gini's case next season. . (3rd/ final reply) .

we have heaps of midfielders. We can't just keep adding to that group to cover every injury possibility.

01 Aug 2021 04:40:28
We need goals
Whether that’s from midfield or out wide or from a out and out striker, we need two players minimum to compete this season
Personally I think we are missing a top opportunity with Saul who is very good, and I would take Bowen as a rotating wide forward.

What a bunch of drama Queens. Seriously. Klopp wants Florian Neuhaus, and he'll find a way to get him in. The perfect choice as far as I'm concerned. Just needs some coaching on the defensive side of his game, the same way that Wijnaldum was coached. Ready made replacement for Henderson in the future, when it's time.

It’s clear as day we need a goal scoring midfielder, it killed us last season because of the form of the front three (well Salah aside) . A player in the Coutinho mould would solve a lot of those headaches. Unless someone tells me Jones is the answer.

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Aug 2021 21:38:36
Long term Jones could well be the answer.
It's up to him to grab the chances he's given.
I'm not sure what you're trying to achieve by denigrating one of our youngsters coming through.

A lot of noise in the press today on Traore. I’m not over the moon about it but if he does join he deserves our support and could be a very useful impact player off, more so than Origi who will never lose his cult status but it’s probably time to move on.

As Ed002 suggests, I would rather us sell the fringe players and work with what we’ve got for now and invest in young HG talent for the future. I’m not talking about light years ahead, but trying to bring in the next Trent, Curtis or Harvey.

Is there any news on the Bobby Clark youngster from Newcastle?

Believable4 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - I am not sure the if the situation with the kiddie has changed.}

31 Jul 2021 12:00:01
Clark has signed.
I agree re Traore, in that he would be a decent sub to have with that power and pace. The issue is that one would think by now decent coaching would have him already be less headless.

Agree4 Disagree0

31 Jul 2021 13:05:06
To be fair there were reservations on this very board when we bought Sadio (attitude, application) and Mo (didn’t do anything at Chelsea, not a standout at Roma) but someone at the club obviously saw something.

I don’t see Traore (based on the little I have seen) as a starter but he would be a reasonable back up, and as I say, perhaps whoever the “someone at the club’ who can spot potential sees something in him ……. Just saying.

Agree4 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Traore is a Klopp pick - not the scout who persuaded Liverpool to buy Salah who was way down the list for Klopp.}

31 Jul 2021 13:17:23
Listening to your staff. that's why he's the best!

Agree6 Disagree0

31 Jul 2021 13:14:17
100% their is a player their in Traore I feel his decision making is the part of his game that needs to improve also if he joined he would be joining a team who are more on the front foot for larger periods in games and play more attacking aggressive football so that could potentially unlock his full potential. Just a thought.

Agree7 Disagree0

31 Jul 2021 14:27:48
Are you saying Klopp shouldn’t have a ‘pick’ Ed02? Seems a bit unfair if he can’t have a pick every now and then, when it’s his turn of course.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - I said nothing of the sort. Clearly a large number of supporters are trashing his choice of Traore. You wonder if Bowen would get the same treatment?}

31 Jul 2021 14:51:07
One would assume that Nuno and staff were good enough coaches to improve players, judging by how decent Wolves can be, so why did Traore not improve?
Id go for Bowen over Traore personally.

Agree1 Disagree0

31 Jul 2021 14:59:35
Bowen would be great signing ed2.

Agree2 Disagree0

31 Jul 2021 15:14:35
Ed, to clarify has Bowen been recommended by the same scout as Salah?

Generally, do scouts concentrate on certain leagues or positions or will they act across the board?

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - No.}

31 Jul 2021 15:48:08
I don’t see a good player in Traore at all, more someone who’s used his strength and power to compensate for his lack of any real skill or tactical acumen. All very well against lower league teams but at the very top you’ve got to have brain and brawn.

Agree2 Disagree0

31 Jul 2021 16:06:05
I don’t see a good player in Traore, but I do see a very decent player in Bowen who can develop more, he’s got a decent final ball and he’s got a knack of scoring goals and getting in goal scoring positions, and as far as I’m concerned forwards should be judged on how many goals they score and create, that’s their currency.

Agree0 Disagree0

31 Jul 2021 16:30:34
Traore looks poor. Always on the bench for wolves for a reason. Would need to be 10 million to make sense imo. But klopp does improve players so let's hope he can work his magic.

Agree0 Disagree0

31 Jul 2021 18:35:39
Don't want Bowen anywhere near our club unless they employ him as a cleaner. He's simply not CL level.

Agree1 Disagree0

31 Jul 2021 20:05:52
I'll bet any man, woman or dog, that if we do sign Traore he will score at least 10 goals 😏 no matter what it is, we must believe.

Agree2 Disagree0

31 Jul 2021 21:35:31
Did Robertson, Fabinho, Salah, etc etc. None of them looked great when they joined but klopp and co. took them out and worked on them. I think that's Klopps genius, he buys players that he thinks have great qualities and tweaks them to make them great players. If klopp likes Traore I have 100% faith in that.

Agree1 Disagree0

31 Jul 2021 22:37:21
I agree with the sentiment Wuger, though Fabinho was obviously a class act when he was playing for Monaco - I was made up when we signed him!

Agree2 Disagree0

01 Aug 2021 00:45:58
False equivalency Wuger.

Robertson was one of Hull’s best players.

Salah had been dominating in Serie A and probably the best winger in Serie A when we signed him.

Firmino had consistently been one of Hoffenheim’s best players when we signed him.

Fabinho had been one of Monaco’s best players and was widely coveted by many sides.

Traore is a non goal scoring, non creative forward with only one thing in his locker, getting his head down and running at people. He’s got no vision, no skill, no finesse, his shooting is poor and if he assists a goal it’s more luck than judgement, no amount of coaching will give him end product. The bloke was at Barcelona and if they couldn’t get that into him then no one can.

It’s good money to bad abs would be almost as bad a waste of money as Keita.

Agree1 Disagree0

01 Aug 2021 12:02:12
I'm not quite sure you're remembering this correctly. Robertson was like a puppy, loads of energy but no end ball, so klopp took him out worked on him and he was transformed into a great player. Salah wasn't great, I think he scored 15 goals the previous season and then scored 32. Fabinho looked awful when he started but now he's brilliant.
