I am not going to give away my source, as this would be detrimental, however, it is believed that Virgil Van Dyke will put a transfer request in this week and there are 2 teams that will bid for his signature. LFC is his favoured choice, however this is not a definite due to the alleged tapping up and he totally understands this, but still wants out as he feels Pellegrino and Southampton do not live up to the level of his career potential! The other team is actually Arsenal and not Man City.

Losing out to arsenal after 4th place finish would be ridiculous. Good news though, still think we'll sign him.

I'd be more worried about this post if the OP had spelt his name correctly and not the same as they guy from Mary Poppins and Diagnosis Murder.

if your truly ITK you should also know how to spell the guys name.

Why does his spelling matter? I assume firstly that he told him verbally, so not exactly going to spell it out to him is he?

Agree15 Disagree2

Being ITK doesn't come with a condition of being able to spell people's names! I for one applaud this old school rumour.

Maybe we could part ex Sakho if Southampton need a replacement and want him - oh and he would also want to go there, but after Palace loan I couldn't see him turning them down - unless Roma interest is true!
Anyone ITK know if this is being considered? Or is it going to be a cash only deal?

I understand why people put up hoax rumours as this is what 50% of this site is supposed to create and that's entertainment for all the fans to enjoy a bit of banter.

I am also aware that the public are able to source genuine news from certain individuals attached to clubs.
My post last night is genuine as this came from a source at the club on Monday morning whilst visiting the new Carlsberg players suite.

Obviously, you can't be 100% until it happens but I would rather believe what a person connected to the club, with quite a formidable history than any media source.

Carlsberg don't do rumours.

Probably the worst window yet! I actually think it's been great. 2 of our signings have scored twice in a handful of games. Trust what carra says; he will stay to next window (PC) And if still in ucl or still in title race then Phil will stay. If not he's gone. We are going to be here next year though. Let's hope we sign kieta next year to make up for losing him. The four goals our new boys have scored were against pretty decent opposition. Don't know how papers can say we have failed this window. Let's see em say that when salah carves up premiership defences. I can imagine something like "Salah looks like very good business by liverpool" *read with John motson voice*.

Eds, do Roma genuinely hold an interest in Sahko and at 30million as mooted? Also has talks progressed on a deal with markovic to leave?

Baz.

Believable4 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Roma s interested but don't want to spend £30M. Markovic is also priced out of a move right now.}

31 Jul 2017 14:10:30
At some point, the club needs to see sense and arrive at a middle ground for the surplus players' prices. Klopp has let the whole world know he wants Sakho, Markovic and Moreno gone ASAP yet LFC want top dollar for its unwanted players in spite of being in a weak bargaining position. NOt only have there been huge issues with buying players but selling surplus players has been an utter shambles so far this season. 20 million pounds for Sakho and 10 each for Moreno and Markovic represents sound business and the club should just bite the bullet to raise funds for more incomings.

Agree25 Disagree5

31 Jul 2017 14:12:20
Liverpool need to pull their finger out, no one is going to bid that for sakho, markovic and Moreno never play, just take what we can or risk getting stuck with nothing.

Agree9 Disagree8

31 Jul 2017 13:57:24
Thanks Ed002. Do you think Liverpool will compromise to get a deal wrapped up on both players? Also has all interest in Moreno gone?

Baz.

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - I really think Liverpool will have to. There is nothing happening with Moreno at this point in time - but the club want him gone.}

31 Jul 2017 14:34:33
Hardly takes a genius to work out if you don't want him then no one with big money to spend will want him either.

Agree6 Disagree2

31 Jul 2017 14:43:00
Hardly think, in the current transfer climate, that 30mil for Sakho is in anyway outrageous. He's a very good defender who is still young and only finds himself out of favour due to his off field issues (as opposed to his quality) - the club should be able to compromise but, at the same time, be able to strike the best deal in its interests: 30mil is fair in my opinion.

Agree26 Disagree6

31 Jul 2017 15:04:14
10 mil for moreno is a rip off. Can't believe we turned down 12. If liverpool were about to sign him for 10 mil I would be dissapointed. 20 for sahko, on the other hand, means someone is going to get a good deal. Again if we were to sign him for 20 I would be dead pleased. Be pleased to pay 30 for him. All three will be gone by end of season. Can see one or two going right to the wire.

Agree9 Disagree8

31 Jul 2017 15:28:46
really don't see why so many people on here think Sakho is a good defender. all ways flying in making last ditch tackles because he reads the game so poorly, and when he is on the ball he is like a bomb waiting to go off. And don't tell me how good he was at palace because under big Sam they would have had loads of players behind the ball making defending a lot easier than when he plays for us with sometimes just 2 at the back. so I would snatch there hand off at £20m. ed025 what's your take on him being an outsider would you like everton to spend £30m on him?

Agree5 Disagree10

{Ed025's Note - no grino to be honest, bambi on ice for me mate and even though he done well at times he was an accident waiting to happen..

31 Jul 2017 16:18:28
Strong defender. Good distribution and passing accuracy.
He isn't scared to launch a slide tackle in penalty area, which did usually have my heart in my mouth, but always won the ball.

Looks awkward as he stalks like a boxer, doesn't matter at bit. Would run through a brick wall for his team. I can't understand when people cannot see his ability. Only ever seems to be people who have played as a defender who acknowledge his strengths and skills.

Worth the 30 million for those crazy eyes when he had Lukaku quaking in his boots.

Agree12 Disagree4

{Ed025's Note - those 3 precious words..."red tinted glasses"..

31 Jul 2017 16:28:18
He looks awkward but he is better than he looks - strong, powerful, good at reading the game and surprisingly good with the ball at his feet (inspite of appearances) - he is a good defender and, were it not for his off field stupidity, would be a first choice starter. I really think 30mil is a reasonable price - the issue is they know we don't want him so believe (perhaps correctly) that they can force a lower price.

Agree10 Disagree2

31 Jul 2017 16:44:09
Agree with Ed025 here. Red tinted glasses seems to be popular at the moment. Think most fans where them when they look at Matip and Can too.

Decent players but major room for improvement.

Agree3 Disagree10

31 Jul 2017 16:45:36
Totally agree with last two posts. 30 mil in today's market is a bargain. Solid centre back who will start for whoever he joins. Simple as that.

I think the question people need to ask themselves about Sakho is whether they prefer him in the squad or Klaven. I know who I would choose because personally I would put him ahead of Lovren, hence why VVD is being pursued. He would only make our bench stronger.

Agree10 Disagree1

31 Jul 2017 18:59:27
Even looking as objectively as possible (stats) Sakho is a pretty impressive defender. I'd love to see him back in a red shirt personally.

Agree6 Disagree3

31 Jul 2017 19:13:14
I really think Sakho is a top defender, and that's not red tinted glasses, I'm critical of a lot of our players.
He is our best defender by a long way imo and I'm gutted he's leaving, I think a lot of people say he's error prone, can't pass, rash when in reality he doesn't make many errors, had the best pass completion rate at the club and our win/ lose record is much better with him in the side, I agree he looks ungamely but it's not about style it's about substance.

Agree9 Disagree1

31 Jul 2017 20:09:42
Considering we bought a LB for 8-10mil to shut completely Moreno out of playing, we will not be getting 10mil for Moreno any day soon.

Sahko I believe we can get 20mil at most, he is a quality defender and easily worth 30mil+ but nobody will want to pay that for his off the field behavior.
That and him being Bambi on ice with the ball are his 2 downfalls. Besides that I do prefer him over Lovren though.

Markovic is a shame, he never got a proper chance and has no confidence and has downgraded in quality due to no game time and when he got game time, being played out of position.
can’t put a price on him because he just hasn’t been on the field enough. Although I was fairly happy when we got him for 20mil and had high hopes.

Agree2 Disagree3

31 Jul 2017 21:51:00
Still have horrors about a left side defence of Sakho and Moreno, they were an accident happening no wait needed. This isn't the first club Sakho managed to sour his relationship with so why do people think that situation won't repeat and he really isn't that good. He's not rubbish by any means but don't forget he has actually played for LFC when the bad games have been happening so he is not the messiah - he is indeed just a naughty boy.

Agree1 Disagree4

{Ed025's Note - i love monty python..

31 Jul 2017 22:04:25
Wait and see.
The club will get 30 million for him, Its looking like it will be january. What ever mid table club has a poor start this side of xmas will gladly cough up the 30 mill.

Maybe Leicester or hopfully the Saints.

Agree0 Disagree1

31 Jul 2017 23:06:45
Sakho IMO is not better or worse than Lovren or Matip. Looks solid most of the time, but poor in the air. I know people will think I'm mad but watch back goals we'v conceded from free kicks into the box. Our team has been Poor at winning/ clearing that first ball for years, and this issue isn't new as I'm going back to when Agger was here as well. We'v been missing a Hyypia type player for over ten years.

Agree3 Disagree0

31 Jul 2017 23:18:20
You only have to look at the affect he had on the palace team and how highly regarded he was there to realise that he's a decent player. He is a risk though given his attitude problems at liverpool and psg. Taking everything into account 20 mil seems a fair price in the current market.

Agree1 Disagree0

31 Jul 2017 23:55:30
The home Dortmund game. Watch it. Sakho scored, that's nice. But look at his positioning on some of the Dortmund goals. That isn't impressive defending. I really don't care, if Klopp don't want the guy in the group, its clearly for a reason. I'm "happy" with that.

Tho I have to say, Sakho haven't moaned. That shows some kind of caracter.

Agree3 Disagree2

31 Jul 2017 23:58:47
Well said cobra. It seems to be very unpopular to talk sahko up but I'm with you, I think he is the best cb at the club. Wish we could turn the clock back with him. Comparing him to klavan is ridiculous. (Although I expect klavan to pick up this year, cbs often have nervy first seasons) sahko is at a different level to the Estonian. I agree that since hypia we have lacked a truly world class cb.

Agger was pretty good and skrtel an animal (which I like in a cb) but you felt safe with sami in a way we haven't since he retired. Henchoz showed how far proper organisation can take you. European trophies. I think Van Dyke will take a month or two to find his feet but I can see matip and vvd striking a brilliant partnership. Both speak Dutch ish, similar age, even similar build.

So want lovren to be brilliant but he's too inconsistent. Let's very poor strikers get the wrong side of him all too often. I think Van Dyke sees the improvement klopp gets out of his players and I reckon he will be in top three cbs in league if he joins us.

01 Aug 2017 01:18:03
If Sahko joined Palace instead of us and we watched the way he performed
last season for palace. We would probaly be tapping him up to sign for us.
IMO Klopp has dropped a bollock on this one.

Agree3 Disagree1

02 Aug 2017 09:49:42
If Sakho had joined Palace instead of LFC he wouldn't have been playing to put himself in the shop window, which he was and the chances are he'd had have done one or two things to hack them off during his time. The situation is what it is for a reason and I get the impression LFC just happened to be who it happened with.

Just read silly article that claims because city have done so much business they should win the league. What rubbish. Signing 7/ 8 players means your team is seriously disrupted and often it takes a while to gel together.
Okay we missed out on kieta but I think vvd will happen and we have a solid left back HIGHLY promising forward and amazing winger/ forward in salah. It is the same team that looked like winning the league before injuries struck.
I for one am pleased we haven't had a complete overhaul. Our best business will be keeping Phil. Then all we have to do is win the UCL and he will stay!

01 Aug 2017 00:03:23
I got ripped on here a month or so ago for suggesting coutinio will feature up front this season and so far I think that is exactly where he has played. Just thought I'd mention. Not saying he wouldn't be class in midfield, he would. But I want his skill at the business end of the field. Let's face it, he'd be a good RB!

Hi ed. Any truth in the aguero link? Best player we been links with this summer. Some people doubt whether liverpool are title challengers. Aguero has played against us. He knows we are. Sturridge aguero front line seems perfect but in the middle of front three I think he'd smash it too.

Liken the purchase of Aguero with the fact it would be the equivalent of giving a woman needing a knee transplant a set of DDs instead . looks great up top but not quite what's needed.

31 Jul 2017 15:06:31
Lol, fair play jcw! I think someone to knock in all the chances we create would be great. Personally I'd rather have a fully fit sturridge but is that just wishful thinking?

I would love Aguero to join. But that isn't going to happen.

It got dislikes because it's very unlikely to happen and goes against what the eds are saying we will look to do with any business we have remaining.

I'm sure we'd all love to have Aguero in our team, every club would, it's just not happening though.

Agree1 Disagree1

31 Jul 2017 22:18:54
I agree superred, id love to see aguerooooooooo (say that in the style of Martin Tyler lol) in an LFC shirt but id prefer to plug the leaky back line first prior to adding to an already very well equipped attacking force.

If PC leaves and we get a windfall which I don't want to happen, would we consider trying for Aubameyang or even Bale? Pulisic or Dembele have potential but unproven. PL rivals will not sell their top players to us, so we will be limited to European options. A left field thought, what about Sanchez? He did'nt want to come the first time but we will be cashed up and in the CL, would Arsenal except 40m and 1.00.
