Why is Salah so poor at minute? Anyone know? His decision making is terrible right now.

He's probably not recovered from last season. I don't mean physically, I meant mentally.
The guy has been embroiled in all kinds of rubbish from image rights disputes, to being hounded for being given an "honourary" citizenship of Chechnya. Then you've got to remember that he's expected to score another 40 goals this season.

Mans got a lot on his mind, let him chill and he'll start scoring again.

Pressure and opposition.

He's getting like 3 seconds to make a decision before someone sweeps in and gets to him.

I'd chuck him up top with the Shaq on the right.

I thought he played well last night. until the final ball.
He looked fairly sharp at times yesterday and is still getting himself into good positions wanting the ball, I will start to get worried if he goes quiet and the chances dry up.

Think he needs a stretch on the sidelines to be honest. Similar to what Klopp is doing with Keita and Fabinho- ease him back gently. I do vaguely remember mind he was a bit off the boil at the start of last season because people were criticising his finishing so I think he will come out of it.

He had a similar start at the beginning of last season.

Has nobody come to the conclusion that for Salah to overcome this new hurdle that, rather than leaving him on the bench or changing his position, he simply needs to play through it.

Time on the bench will do very little, Salah simply needs to find his rhythmn again, get used to the pressure that opponents are putting on him and figure out ways of overcoming it on the pitch. Once he figures it out I have no doubt Salah will get back to his best.

In all honesty, I think the front 3 all need to play through this so that they can re-find that deadly connection which made us a formidable team last season. Everything feels forced now, or very last minute, there is little of the linking and interchanges that we saw last season that led to goals. Give them time, to assess and figure out new plays on the pitch and we will have the front 3 of last season once again.

This year will be a challenge but, I have to say, our midfield has really stepped up their game. Wijnaldum and Milner, in particular. It is almost like the signings of Fabinho and Keita has pushed them to be better, regalvanised them. Our defence seems to have a better understanding of their responsibilities, although I think our fullbacks need to be very careful that they do not push too far up and leave spaces in behind, ala Chelsea match yesterday.

Alisson, what a breath of fresh air that lad has. Without him, Chelsea would have gone away with three points. He is a very good shot stopper but, even better, he is excellent at ball distribution which is an added weapon in our arsenal.

This season looks promising and I hope, pray to anyone willing to listen, that we finally win a trophy. It has been a very, very long time after all. Once we overcome that hurdle, I think you will see a Liverpool side that plays with freedom, expression and everything Klopp's style of football is truly about.

Stay positive guys, think about where we were 5 years ago and look at us now. The difference is truly astounding.

{Ed001's Note - spot on. It takes games to find form and Salah took nearly half a season to explode last season.}

He's scored 1 goal less than he had at this time last season.

Agreed, we we’re all worried about the chances he was missing by this time last year. We need the front three firing, and as soon as salah takes a couple chances he will be fine. I think we need Keita to cement his place first, meaning they can’t double up on salah as easily, as then we will have Firmino mane and Keita to worry about still.

Maybe I'm in the minority, but I wouldn't describe him as "poor".

The final ball and finish is missing atm, but his link up play is still good, his movement is good, his pace still terrifies defenders, he isn't hiding from the ball. I thought in the first half yesterday he played far better than either Mane or Firmino and was surprised when he was subbed after 65 minutes. He's not playing badly, it's just the finish is missing. That can happen to players for periods, it's not a major disaster.

He will start scoring again.

Not worried just think whack him up top for a few games get him a couple of goals and then we can rejig things.

He just needs to score a couple of good goals to get going again, I remember all the posts this time last year saying he was a flop because he didn’t score enough and his final touch was terrible etc.

for me, salah needs to find more ways to impose himself on the game. He's starting to link up more around the box and create space / angles for himself and others, but too often he fades out of the game when his team mates aren't feeding him the ball. If he just gets himself involved in and around the box he'll continue to open more and more opportunities for himself and his team mates. Then when defenders get touch tight to cut out his link up play, then the space will open up behind. Just rekon he has to keep playing to figure that out. not sure whether a spell on the sidelines would help, cos I think he needs to play his way through this.

Salah was poor? Really? I just disagree. Being football player, Salah is a nightmare playing against, and he was giving chelsea some serious problems. Currently only problem is his finishing. His movement and dribbling is superb. If he scored atleast one, we would all be praising him. Give the man some rest and get of his back. This will not help, esp with stupid media already writing about 'poor' Salah.

I think Mo is doing okay and although I might be interpreting this wrong I am convinced he has been affected by the Egyptian FA argument and the fact that one of those persons made a lightly veiled threat against his mother. Khaled Lateif, an EFA board member, warned Mo, that while he no longer resided in Egypt, his mother did.

“I’d like to remind @MoSalah that your mother is still in Egypt. You are abroad and can do as you wish. Those who understand, understand. ”

Lateif appeared to make the remarks shortly after Salah posted two videos on his official Facebook page criticising the EFA for the country’s poor World Cup campaign. Also don't forget, Magdy Abd El Gany, another senior member of Egyptian FA, also launched an attack on Salah on Tuesday, this time calling him a pig (Pigs are an animal considered ritually unclean in Islam and believers are prohibited from consuming them) .

“Here is a picture of me with four players and a pig in white, ” Abdulghani said in a caption accompanying an image of himself, Mo Salah and four other footballers. This is disgraceful to say the least! I find their politicisation of football and their constant flouting of FIFA rules to be worthy of sanctions by FIFA.

A hat trick against City next Sunday and he'll be back on track 😃.

He’s a guy that’s gone from 0 to 100 in one season. When we signed him everyone, including our own fans ere underwhelmed and not much was expected of him. He has that season and now everyone wants a piece of him.
The stuff with the EFA hasn’t helped but neither has the amount of awards ceremonies and individual accolades he’s won. He seems to be at a different awards night every week.
Nobody from Egypt has ever been under this much scrutiny so I would imagine it’s a bit of a culture shock to him it’s just not normal for so much to be expected of an Egyptian footballer.
I’m sure once things calm down a bit he’ll be able to get his head back in the game he’s been caught in a bit of a whirlwind over the past few months.

If I remember correctly last season Salah had a slow-ish start and I remember the city game in particular he had 3 or 4 really good chances and failed to convert them. Obvs we know what happened after that and the score line looked like we got a drubbing from city but in all fairness we was right in that game until the manè red. Salah is only human and he will have a few bad patches but let's get behind him as class will prevail and he will come through this with flying colours.

As most have pointed out the guys got a lot on his plate, last season would be a hard act to follow he's still getting in the right places working hard doing all the right things he will be scoring again soon just let him plod through it, a couple against City and he will be off and running again,

nobody is really firing just yet which makes it so exciting. When we click, well omg, this has the feeling of something special happening, how many times in our hayday did we score really late, sometimes in injury time, sometimes we were ordinary but we still got points, just like we have done so far this season. Sturridge missed a sitter, so did Shaq, and now Salah. Just means its getting closer to us giving someone a hiding and kicking on, something that looks so much better from the top of the ladder rather than 8 points off the pace. Come on guys, so far ahead of last season already!

Salah and the rest of the team getting a lot of grief on here the last few days, some hard to please folk about, it was hardly a terrible performance away from home at one of the best teams in the league. Oh, and we didn't lose for those who seem to think we did.

I remember when Fowler had a drought and when Evans was asked about it he replied as long as he still getting in the positions and having the chances it will come, Mo is still getting in the positions still getting chances so give it time. You all have to admit expecting another 40+ goal season was a dream of sheer ecstasy.

I'm sorry I haven't time to read the whole thread atm, only respond to the OP, because I take exception to this question being asked over and over. He has not been 'so poor', he's just lacing a little bit of his sharpness that he had in abundance last season but it will come. He is still frightening the pants off defenders and getting into those Oh-So-Salah type positions. I've said it repeatedly benching him would be the worst thing to do and I'm glad Klopp agrees. On the other hand, it is just really nice to have another option now that we didn't have last season. Plenty of games coming and both he and Shaq will be needed.

PS: I think it's time to give Keita a run of starts.

Relax! Salah is contributing, remains a threat in behind and has more shots on target than every other player in the league. He could have had a couple on sat but the goals will come.

Too many people listening to media hype instead of looking at things rationally. The front 3 in general haven’t quite clicked yet but WHEN they do someone is getting a pasting!
