Any Ed's got an update on the Thiago situation? The CEO of Bayern has said he's expecting an offer in the next few days and Fabrizio has stated Lpool are still in contact with his agent.

Believable4 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Bayern Munich have made their position on Liverpool absolutely clear - and now they expect them to arrive with suitable and exceptable offer.}

30 Aug 2020 19:51:51
Bayern Munich will not put up with Klopps bs. We need to do this one right although he's probably increased the price a bit from tapping up.

in other words pay up or shut up.

30 Aug 2020 20:03:50
Do you expect a suitable and acceptable offer to be made or do you think Lpool will come in with a low ball offer?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - I really don’t know. They want £40M.

30 Aug 2020 20:35:13
£40M?! Wow, Fabrizio was saying closer to €30mil which would be around £25mil? I can see the reluctancy to pay £40mil for a player who is available for free next summer and is also 29.

Agree13 Disagree0

30 Aug 2020 20:25:17
Ed002 I can’t see us offering anything like that and I don’t blame us. 1 year left on his contract nearly 30 with a history injuries and CV. They have there value and we will have one but if they want that much Ed I think there will be to much of a gap so I don’t see it happening maybe next season on a free transfer to replace Gini if the club does not want to give him a new deal.

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool have illegally tapped up the player and Bayern Munich are pissed. They quoted another side Euro 10M less which will be closer to what they will accept. Else Liverpool can wait until January and look to agree a move for next summer (if he is still available).}

30 Aug 2020 20:45:51
Wow, £40m is €44.9m. Most of the reports suggested Bayern wanted only €30m, which is reasonable. I wouldn't be keen on LFC paying what you have quoted Ed!

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - It should have been Euro not £. They quoted Euro 30M to another side.}

30 Aug 2020 20:54:49
Typos too easy.

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Aug 2020 21:12:30
Just like Van Dijk, the cost is about £10 million extra to Liverpool, simply because of the tapping up. The reputation of Liverpool fc is in the gutter with other clubs, so I hope they pay up and bring the Alcantra business to a conclusion.

If not, Liverpool have tapped up 2 players in Germany this year, causing disruption, refusing to pay asking price and then walking away. Dreadful conduct in truth.

Agree4 Disagree0

30 Aug 2020 21:59:08
So Ed your telling us the tapping up is paying off (sarcasm)
He won’t be joining us not a hope €40m!
I’d say we turned the fax machine off once we got that quote.

Agree5 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - They will take less as I have explained.}

30 Aug 2020 23:27:53
MonkeyMad we paid similar for the OX in the same circumstances.

Agree2 Disagree0

30 Aug 2020 23:29:16
Greenflash we conducted ourselves well with signing the OX, Fabinho and Allison? We are not always the bad guys.

Agree6 Disagree0

31 Aug 2020 00:16:09
Yes true, but with Ox there was most likely not the same issues regarding age, wages etc. Made sense at the time.

Hi Ed002, so what's your take on this Thiago saga? Will it be a >>>

A. Timo ending
B. VVD ending
C. Happy ending (for both Bayern and LFC)

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - I really don't know right now. There is an option to wait until January and look for a deal for next summer.}

31 Aug 2020 09:43:14
Do we actually know if Liverpool have tapped him up for definitely? People just guessing? Putting 2&2 together?

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Yes and this has been done to death.}

31 Aug 2020 10:09:44
KingCarlos, I agree, which makes it even more difficult to understand why Klopp does it. I'm sure Klopp could have contacted these players correctly and persuaded them to join anyway.
Instead, Klopp gets caught out and the price goes up for Liverpool.

Agree1 Disagree0

31 Aug 2020 10:26:12
Risk is if we wait until January then he might be gone elsewhere, if Gini leaves this window then surely we need him in now as replacement.

Agree1 Disagree0

31 Aug 2020 18:28:30
Honestly don't want us to go to Jan and get him on a 'free' even if he doesn't move before then. It's a poor way to behave and it's a year less of peak Thiago.

30 Aug 2020 17:32:23
Ed 2 have Liverpool made an approach to Watford for Sarr yet?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Not as far as I know. Watford have fielded enquiries from Wolves (as a Traore replacement) and Crystal Palace (who need to replace Zaha but opted for their first choice).}

30 Aug 2020 19:52:41
I'd like him as a Mane replacement in the event he is sold. Tremendous future in my view.

Agree2 Disagree0

31 Aug 2020 16:52:21
Not as a replacement but as a rotating starter. Compare us to the new Chelsea, Man City or Man Utd. They each have >4 forward players playing at more or less a similar level. We do not. after our front 3, the drop down is significant.
We would likely need to sell Origi and/ or Shaqiri to fund Sarr purchase but he is such an improvement on those two.

I would rather go for Diego Jota and expect Klopp to improve him.

Supposedly (twatter) Bayern have said €30m from LFC or Thiago is On the market for who ever can pay it!
Sadly I don’t see us getting him!

Believable11 Unbelievable0

30 Aug 2020 11:51:43
So obviously it's true, coming from Twatter likes.
Not like anyone on there to make it up as they go along.

Seems to know his stuff your man falk also well connected to Bayern.

They will get it done.

30 Aug 2020 13:31:30
Same as what was being said 4weeks ago. It’s €30M we don’t have and we are relying on selling for the funds. By the time we have scraped around for pennies he would of probably gone to PSG or Arsenal.

30 Aug 2020 13:53:07
Some people (sorry Jay, enjoy your posts) are too impatient to think reasonably! He was never going to sign during Bayern's Champions League campaign (which ended only 7 days ago) . Now he has without a doubt gone on holiday for a couple of weeks at least.

If he is going to sign, it will most likely happen after next week when we've had a chance to sell a couple of players, and when Thiago is back from his summer break. It was never going to happen early in the window. It's only become a saga because Twitter and the media have made it so. The window is open for about 5 or 6 weeks still.

Harvey's I tend to agree with you there. When asked about it Klopp certainly didn't kill off the possibility, but was cautious in his reply.

Let's hope we can pull it off because I fear we do need to invest to stay where we are this season.

Well on Thursday at 13.00pm I was Liverpool bound on the M62. A red Ferrari flew past me also heading to Liverpool with the registration plate. A VILLA
Surely this means we’re signing Greaylish 😉.

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Aug 2020 14:55:18
A. Villa? David Villa's younger brother Antonio?

I suspect that Gini and Thiago are closely related - i wouldn’t be surprised if they’ were just waiting for clarity on Barcelona’s intentions before deciding on Thiago. If Gini doesn’t move I can’t see us needing yet another midfielder.

Gini is exceptional at controlling tightly fought games and escaping the press, but it’s clear that in the Arsenal match some sides will take their chances at sitting deep and hitting us on the counter. Unfortunately that sort of game doesn’t suit Gini as much as a more creative player and it was clear once Keita and Minamini came on we looked more dangerous.

Agree3 Disagree0

30 Aug 2020 17:54:20
That's exactly my thoughts SGRed.

I think it's a simple case of, Gini signs his contract and we don't sign Thiago, or Gini won't sign it and we sell him and buy Thiago.

Agree1 Disagree0

30 Aug 2020 18:09:40
Gini was poor V the Gunners, maybe his head has been turned, I thought Klopp left him on far too long, once Keita came on we looked a better side .
I thought that Mo Salah should have come off too, he was getting nowhere fast, been well below his high standard,
Robbo was our best player, and great to see Taki coming on and getting his first goal, I think he has turned a corner and will make a big difference, in fact I would start him V Leeds, we had better make a move for Thiago pretty soon or someone will do a chelsea on us .

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed047's Note - watching yesterday’s game I honestly didn’t know gini was playing till some point in the 2nd half.

30 Aug 2020 19:57:37
No rush on it if he went home to Spain he has to quarantine for 14 days so even if he signed tomorrow he's unavailable for the season opener.
