hi eds, i have just read that turkeys window doesn't close untill 8th sept and Fenerbahçe are hoping to get a deal done for origi.
any truth and will liverpool let him go now our window has closed.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - The window remains open in Turkey and Russia but Liverpool lost out on the sale of Origi due to his asking price. Fenerbahce are not looking for another striker that I am aware of.}

I’d say moving Karius on should be the bigger priority.

Looking at our remaining first team squad (given that we got a loan for Ojo on TDD) it's only Karius.

As we didn't buy another attacker, regardless of what Turkish clubs are looking for, we shouldn't let Origi go just yet.

zeddicus not sure how much truth in the rumour but we have struggled to get shut of origi and offer might be to good to turn down.
we still have minamino and chamberlain has been tried as false 9.
could mean we buy in january.

Yeah, I guess so. Thought about that too after I had posted my initial reply above.

I guess I am more on the fence than I thought I was initially! Let's see if anything comes of it and what the deal is as our greater risk (outside of injury) is the AFCON. It only covers 2 EPL games but I worry there will be isolation complications etc that may arise at the time.

However, if Origi has moved, we do have the chance to buy before AFCON starts.

Hi Ed002,

What price did the club put on Origi?

Cheers.

{Ed002's Note - Too much. £20M.}

€20m for Divock🤦‍♂️.

That's double what I would have expected, didn't agree with you (Ed002) on saying you thought £15M was too much for Nat Phillips but totally agree £20M is far too much for Origi.

£20 Million!?!?!?!?

Jesus, I was thinking 5 or 10 at a push, but 20!?!?!?

He's been in hibernation for two years, how is anyone, in need of a striker, going to turn to Origi? Not even the most desperate of teams.

Hopefully Edwards, Ward, or whoever will be in charge now, see reason and let him go for between 5 and 10 million. Although, tbh, due to Origi's lack of game time, I would be surprised if anyone would go for that.

£20m is ridiculous. We would be lucky to get half that.

I know we don’t talk money Ed, but what do you think a fair market value would be?

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Half of that.}

02 Sep 2021 19:36:49
I think you’re probably right Ed,

If that was the asking price then I think people should stop slandering Divvy for being a mick taker and not wanting to leave vid if the club is pricing him out of moves then it clearly cannot be his fault. Just saying.

Absolutely right Oli.

Just goes to show what the premium is if said player is English. Didn’t we sell Solanke and Ibe for 20 mill each. Yes it was before C.V. times but let’s be honest it’s not as if no money was spent in this last window because of it. 2 players went for near on 100 mill each and although Messi and Ronaldo didn’t cost a bomb they probably became 2 of the best paid sports men in the world at their new clubs.

What are we smoking to value Origi (who has 1 year left in the contract) twice the value of Shaqiri?

Also Ed002, a side track question, I notice Liverpool did not allow our Brazilian squad to travel. We are seeing the punishment/ penalty from FIFA soon?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - It would be down to the Brazilian FA who could potentially request FIFA to block called up players who were not released by clubs. It is not uncommon and will impact a number of sides if they do so - Liverpool more than others.}

03 Sep 2021 11:58:15
It seems a strange route to take if they were to do that. Brazil more than most have had terrible issues with regards C.V.. Also going to a red list country is only appropriate if it is absolutely necessary. I would say that representing your country albeit a proud moment is not a necessity. FIFA must surely understand this.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Whilst FIFA will be sympathetic and the FA are trying to get exemptions from the quarantine, Brazil could request FIFA to follow their own rules regarding clubs being required to release players.}

03 Sep 2021 14:14:05
Yes the rules are rules, but these are rules made before a global C.V.. Surely the respective FA's of each country should be able yo have a clear chat that travel to red last countries is ridiculous.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Different countries have different rules.}
