Eds do you think all of the following will be sold in the summer?

Kuyt
Maxi
Aurelio
Aquilani
Cole
Spearing
Doni
Poulson
Johnson

Thanks :)
Dan {Ed001's Note - no, for starters some are out of contract in the summer.....}

And others have already been sold i.e. POULSEN. For the last time POULSEN is NOT a Liverpool player any longer.

TSP

Most know poulsen is not a liverpool player. however not much has been said about it. kind of under the weather. like danny wilson to black pool. totally forgot he was there untill earlier.

Lavezzi and Martinez are two big names we are looking at for the summer.

RM

Comolli says "no!".

Looking at players happens everyday, im sure we are looking at neymar and messi everyday. but a move in 90% out of the question for every player we look at

Jackson or Javi though :)

No we are not looking at Neymar or Messi though because they are not willing to join us... Lavezzi and Martinez are however...

Whatever, believe me or not, I feed you team news almost every game, normally spot on...

RM

Haha, you copy the same style of that macca guy...

commoli said don't expect liverpool to spend big in summer but do you think this is true eds? {Ed002's Note - See earlier discussion.}

He said he wont get as many players as last summer. Doesent mean he won't spend large amounts of money on 1 or 2 "big name" players.

Well we've had 3 windows of no net spend, and the mugs on here are still applauding the new Americans.
The only big name transfer talk has been Nando out and Standard Charetered angling for Luis out too.
You've got to laugh haven't you...

I see a lot are worried by DC s comments.
We are only a few quality players short of competing for top honours.

Keita seems like a viable option for cover for Lucas , won't cost a lot maybe €3mil or less.

Luuk de jong for RW or cover up top €12 - €15 mil.

Then soldado up top , is seen €25 mil mentioned before for him.

So 3 players say €45 mil tops should be within our budget.

LAVERS

Unless we get top 4, you can forget about soldado my friend....he'll be off to City, Spurs or Chelsea that is if he decided to come to England of course

Granted top 4 does make getting these top players easier , but we are still one of the biggest clubs in the world.
Spurs don't pay a lot in the way of wages , I'd say were in better shape than chelsea.

LAVERS

Keita covering for Lukas? Lukas cannot lace Keita's boots! {Ed001's Note - I have no idea who this Lukas is, but Keita is not that good, thankfully we have Lucas coming back for next season who is a much better player.}

Also maxi aurelio johnson and maybe kuyt will be leaving adding additional funds.

Mr deeds

I think buying De Jong to play as our 1st choice RW is a bad idea, he's a striker 1st and foremost, and that's where she should play the majority of his football if we were gonna sign him.

Rugby Parker

Agree with Parker

What's our approx budget LAVERS?

Alright Eds, Are we interested in Matius Suarez? Think he's the type of player we need & would be a great signing.

Thanks, great site. {Ed002's Note - Juventus and Arsenal have certainly expressed an interest and it may be that Liverpool become interested - but right now I would not read too much in to the speclation about Matias Suarez.}

Matthias Saurez is the current holder of the Belgian Jupiler League "Golden Boot". It's their version of Player of the Year.

The last holder of the Belgian Jupiler League "Golden Boot" that joined us was Jovanovic.... enough said

Wow! That means M. Suarez wouldn't be any good for LFC in the prem. I mean it must be a terrible thing to win that golden boot in the belgian league.

Don't tarnish people with the same brush!

Hi Eds

Im just wondering lads about the young lad Joao Carlos Texiera. He has not played a game for the reserves yet, is he injured or need bulking up because he was quite thin or is the young lad not good enough

Scouse ben {Ed002's Note - He is a kid and has just arrived - give him a chance to settle in.}

Just wondering because hes 19 years old and not a 15 year old like sterling was. Have you seen anything in training eds. {Ed001's Note - if I remember rightly he has been injured, that's why he didn't get games. I haven't heard anything regarding how he is getting on, his signing kind of went unnoticed and all I have heard about were the preparations for games.}

I believe he is injured and will be out for several weeks.

any of the eds seen M'Baye Niang play? alot of hype about him at the start of the season just want to know what type of player he is? and who has an interest in him?

Red Rout

P.S. player profiles are really good so thanks to the ed/eds responsible
{Ed002's Note - M'Baye Niang is a 17 year old with difficulties remaining over his contract. He could not move without a parent or guardian moving with him until he is 18. Perhaps one for the future.}

is eden hazard an option and are interested in him
{Ed002's Note - Whilst Real Madrid or Barcelona remain his preferred destination PSG, Chelsea, Spurs, Bayern Munich and Inter Milan are all interested to one degree or another. I said over the summer that I would not be surprised to see Manchester United through their hat in to the ring with Hazard as well. Chelsea have maintained a long-term interest but one particularly influential party at the club sees the player as having an attitude problem (primarily related to previously well-publised issues). However, Chelsea have recently discussed the player with Lille and a firm offer by Chelsea is still a possibility. Arsenal spoke with Lille before the last summer window and, I am told, proposed a "derisory number" and suggested taking the player would be a risk. Bayern Munich apparently remain very keen on Hazard but the player is seemingly not interested in a move to Germany. Inter would find the transfer fee too high and their only hope would be a part-ownership deal with some cash and a player or two moving to LIlle. Spurs are interested but may need the price to drop significantly to make a move viable. PSG would have the money available but again the player does not want such a move. I really don't see Hazard moving to Liverpool, Juventus, AC Milan or Arsenal for that matter, although with other clubs frustrated at his questionable attitude means it is getting harder to tell where he will end up so a move to pretty much anywhere cannot be completely ruled out. His constant speaking to the press and his recent statement that a move to England would be a stepping stone to Spain will make several clubs think twice about making an offer.}

ED, WHAT DO YOU MAKE OF THIS :-

Massive signings unlikely at Liverpool - Comolli

Damien Comolli has moved to rein in expectation by suggesting there will be no major signings at Liverpool this summer.

Liverpool bagged their first piece of silverware since 2006 when winning the Carling Cup on Sunday, after which it was suggested the victory would be a springboard to more glory.
The Reds invested heavily over the past 12 months - the signings of the likes of Andy Carroll, Luis Suarez and Stewart Downing took their spending over £100m - and they have been tipped to be major players in the summer transfer window, but Comolli does not believe that will be the case.

"It is early days. We will probably make some adjustments in the summer but nothing that we've done before," he said, which is in contrast to what he said following the win at Wembley when he claimed "big players" are queueing up to join Liverpool.

"We signed nine players since Kenny came back so there will be a few adjustments but nothing massive.

"We have done the hard work and now it is a question of making some adjustments in certain positions.

"Kenny has said it several times that we have a very competitive squad and all positions are covered by two or three players, quality players, and we have a lot of young players coming through as well."
{Ed002's Note - I think it is probably correct and as expected. Realistically a right winger and a striker are required still. There is interest in Phillips that we know of and there remains interest in Luuk De Jong. If Suarez leaves I would expect a "more significant" signing as I have said before. I expect that a second choice goalkeeper will also arrive.}

Where do you get, "No big signings" from? What he is saying is that they do not expect sweeping changes. He is refering to quantity not quality. {Ed002's Note - The phrase "no big signings" you have in quotes is not used - did you respond to the correct post?}

I miss quoted in my rush and perhaps misinterpreted the headline”although I expect that was the intention. 'Massive signings unlikely at Liverpool' - Comolli
This reads to me as big signings rather than lots of signings which is the gist of the article as far as I can tell. He is not ruling out big name signings.

Since when is a team thats worth 7th place or so, actually full of "quality" players?

If thats all were looking at then i dont think next year will be much different to this year in terms of league position. We clearly DO NOT Have ANY world class 25+ goals a year striker which is needed if we are seriously looking at the EPL title.
Suarez and Carroll have shown that they just dont score enough goals - Kuyt the same - so we SHOULD be looking at 1 WORLD CLASS BIG NAME STRIKER at the minimum.
The way Carroll just lumbers around and doesnt even bother to get to the end of the numerous crosses that have been thrown at him all year - the Carling cup was a classic example of this wereby Downing delivered many exceptional and fast crosses into the box - where was he ? miles away.. Have you seen Balotelli or Hernandez ? Look at how they are instinctive at getting to right place when the ball is whipped in and then flicking it towards goal..
Carrol just cant do this - unless the ball is cut back directly into his path - how he scored his last goal .
Did you watch Soldado in the Spain friendly the other night? See how he was instinctive and FAST to get into the right place at the right time - in FRONT of his defender . he scored 3 goals.
That is what ANY classic striker will do - be instinctive in front of goal and kill it off with 1 touch . should only need a few half chances for a few goals per game for a class stiker - thats how they earn their $$$
Im Sorry but AC is just nowhere in this league - and for 35 million ? That is the biggest April fools joke of last year!
He needs to do a lot more than that to warrant being a Number 9 .. his goal tally - or lack thereof is just proof of this... you dont really need to look at anything else..
Suarez sure has class and skills, but the same - he is a striker and for a striker he just doesnt score anything like the gaols he should be scoring.
So i do think a CLASS GOAL SCORER that is PROVEN is required. This is a MUST if we are to progress... Cost should not be a factor.
JUst Buy a Soldado or a Cavani etc - proven, class, goal machines - only need a few half chances for a few goals - and they will create many more chances on their own with their SKILL .. something AC lacks a lot of.... {Ed002's Note - Cost is obviously a factor.}

So , after all these years of history , we are now asked to settle for having a '' competitive squad '' .

Dalglish has been on the radio again this morning hailing the impact of the players that signed last summer . In any other profession he would have been sacked for his choices .

If this is true ( it might be a smokescreen ) , then a top four finish is out of the question for the next few years , in fact , top eight would be a challenge with this squad .

Ed... Suarez wont leave!! {Ed002's Note - We will see.}

Anyone notice the gigantic WHOPPER of a lie in the news article.
"Reds have invested HEAVILY in the last 12 months.."
Erm, not exactly. Wage bill cuts funded the net traansfer fee spend.
Overall investment? ZERO

Hicks and Gilette Mark 2
Just a lot of smarm and pr scheming! {Ed002's Note - Rubbish.}

I don't understand people who moan about suarez's lack of goals. I am a rangers fan and we had kris boyd banging them in for years yet everybody moaned he was a lazy c**t.u guys moan that suarez doesn't score but look what else he brings to the table.he is world class end of!!

Ed I would be shocked if in the summer our main signings would be people like matt phillips? He is only a squad player, more likely to get people like soldado or marin {Ed001's Note - Phillips is better than any option we have for the right wing.}

Suarez wasno tbrought to score. but set up and fancy a few goals remember. he was brought in for torres! that didnt work

Why do people or is it just one person persist in saying that our owners have not invested in the team and that there just Hicks and Gillette mark 2 get real you imbecile if they did not take us over when they did we would be doing a Rangers.

Danny

Ed when i have watched phillips he is a decent player but not good enough for us? PLus most games we don't even play 4-4-2. there is no need for more average players, we need just 1 or 2 quality players, we have got enough squad players

By now Kenny will know who he wants to bring in during the summer, and who will be shown the door.

I expect a winger and a forward to be coming in as we all know they are the weak points of the team at the moment.

As for who is going, I expect Kuyt and Maxi are the main 2.

Wow where does Comolli say there will no big signings. He says there wont be as many signings as last time... Read properly before you start spouting crap.

The summer is long off and CL spot is up for grabs, we'll have a better idea who we can go for and how much we can pay when that times comes. Phillips... is not the pedigree of player we should be aiming for if we harbour ambitions of challenging for the title any time soon. Our team is has problems that need addressing if we are to improve i.e. lack of out an out goal scorer, no right winger, downing and carroll's inconsistency meaning there positions perhaps need looking at (?), long term replacement for Gerrard....

I think we should spend wisely rather than excessively but ultimately money needs to be spent - a summer transfer kitty of 30million is not going to be enough to fix the problems our team currently has. Our league position does not lie, we are a long way off the top and we need to invest more money in the team to be challenging for the title.

SMc

p.s. I personally think Comolli's statement is purely tactical - best not alert clubs to the fact your willing to spend money, they tend to inflate there prices stupidly ..

This Q is for Ed002 - You mentioned that a right winger and a striker is required (agreed)...... if both Kuyt and Maxi were to move on in the summer, how would that change things? Do you think 2 more attacking players would be bought in addition to the R.Winger and Striker? {Ed002's Note - No I don't. I would expect that cover will be provided by the likes of Teixeira.}

Hi ed's what are the chances we will sign jackson martinez? Having read that he has said liverpool would be his preferred english club! And is stevie g really out for saturdays game? Thanks! DHH L20 KOPITE {Ed001's Note - I have no idea what the chances are of signing him, it is a long way off the summer. As for Stevie, it is likely he will not start the game at the weekend, though his injury is not as bad as feared, there is a desire not to make it a serious injury.}
