Hey Eds,

Just saw an article in the express saying Arsenal have had a £6.6M offer for Pato rejected by Corinthians as they want closer to £10M. What I wanted to know was is he actually available? I thought he only went back there this year? And if so, have we shown any interest?

Thanks as always,

{Ed001's Note - he is always injured and not very good, that is why he is available to any takers. Thankfully we have not shown any interest.}

Surely Corintians will want more than £10m. They paid £13m for him so that's what they would want at least. There is no denying Pato's talent & hasn't been injured so far in 2013 plus having him would be a really good for the team if either sturridge or suarez get injured because aspas and borini aren't trusted by the manager. I know Pato would be a risk but surely it's a risk worth taking for a 24year old with his ability. One thing is certain we struggle when either of our main strikers are out. He could turn out to be a good replacement for Suarez if(when) he leaves in the summer and giving him half a season to bed in will only be beneficial to Liverpool.

I also hope we sign Shaqiri on loan. which would mean that we would have to drop either Moses or Cissokho or alter Cissokho's loan agreement to a loan to buy in the summer, plus sending Ilori to Valencia for the second half of the season. And a creative central midfielder with a physical presence is what is needed more so than a DM in my opinion; Rakitic, Granit Xhaka, Jorginho or Fredy Guarin(stretch maybe).

The manager, recruitment team and owners will have to really make this January transfer window count if we are going to fight for top four otherwise it will be a hard ending to the season and also a hard recruiting summer / start to next season without Europe and without Suarez.

Hi Eds,
Rumours are that Liverpool are preparing to step up their efforts for martin montoya and/or ryan bertrand. is this just purely media nonsense after a disappointing defeat? and do you see Liverpool looking towards an attacking player in january as our lack of depth going forward did show.
Thanks and would be great to hear back

{Ed002's Note - Martin Montoya has been subject to rejected offers from Napoli and a loan offer from Monaco who opted for Tavares instead. Arsenal and Inter made enquiries over the summer but Barcelona have made it clear they do not wish to sell him. Whilst contract talks with Barcelona are at a standstill because he is asking for guarantees they cannot provide, the interest of Arsenal and Napoli remains and interest of Chelsea was recently declared when another player was being discussed. His agent has confirmed he is aware of interest from other clubs including Liverpool, Bayer Leverkusen and Schalke 04. Inter may also be interested.

Tentative enquiries have been made about Ryan Bertrand by both Everton and Liverpool since the season began. No approach has yet been made to Chelsea. His agents are, I think, looking to get him in to a first team somewhere. There was a suggestion that Chelsea would ask him if he would like to be offered as part of a deal to Southampton.

There is no secret that Liverpool has been looking at wide forward players. You need to read the posts.}
