Hi Eds, Any confirmed interest in young max clayton of Crewe? Looks a real talent {Ed001's Note - yes, we have had interest in him for about 3 years I think now.}

This does connect. Does anyone know how Dan Smith is getting on in our academy/youth set up, since we signed him from Crewe last year?

I know he's young, but when he first arrived he looked nippy and swift on the turn, any updates?

Cheers lads and ladies.

Is Clayton any good? Just had a quick look at his goal record and for a striker its not too impressive - though i'm aware he's only 18. {Ed052's Note - he is a great player. He will be a star I am sure}

Hi eds do we still have any interest in jordie cassie, and how much would he cost? Looks a good player alot like wilshire imo. Cheers redgrant. {Ed001's Note - we haven't had him scouted this season, I would think he was seen as an alternative to Joe Allen.}

Liverpool are planning a shock £15m move to bring Fernando Torres back to Anfield. Chelsea want to sign Falcoa in January and are wiling to sell Torres but not sure if it will be to Liverpool or for £15m, we will have to wait and see. Liverpool are very keen to bring another player back to Anfield this January in Thomas Ince from Blackpool. Liverpool are willing to offer £6m but seen as they get part of the sell on fee they will only have to cough up around £4m. Angelo Ogbonna and Jack Butland are also January targets. Downing,Cole,Pacheco and Doni are looking likely to leave if Liverpool can find buyers.

Nando to go back to Atletico as part of the Falcao deal. wants to go back home.

Ur living in the past mate

AS i see it Torres would be the best option to go for otherwise we will end up with Bent or Long. Torres cud reignite once again in front of the cop. Win win situation!

Id rather have carroll back than torres

Let it go dude, life goes on

Shak Attack

Sturridge or Torres ?

It is "The Kop" not "cop"
Are you on the right site?

02 Dec 2012 23:58:20
really getting old now these Torres rumours. He is finished. And at 15million would be a waste of money.

This is utter rubbish, do you really think we would spend 15 mil on a striker that is so far out of form when we have a striker that's just as bad out on loan already!! And do you really think he would be welcomed back "the prodical son has returned" nope he would be booed all the time, but saying that rodgers is on a mission to destroy our club so I wouldn't put it past him

Am surprised this guy has been spared the stick...lucky guy!

Some very good therapists in Rodney Street ..... I think they call the Torres thing '' manlove '' .

3 managers have got nowhere with getting the best out of Torres. The reason why he was so good at LFC is that he had the 2 best midfielders in the world playing for him and feeding him the right balls to run onto. Without Alonso and only Gerrard he will not get the same service, and he's lost a yard of pace. Plus the fact that he left so acrimoniously, why would we want him back ?
G

I would sooner have Andy Carroll back,, he will give more effot & work harder than Torres

Is Steven Gerrard a target for Real Madrid in January? Would be devastated to lose him. arguably the best player to ever wear the shirt, but a little part of me would love to see him give it a go in La Liga

Steven is 32 & operating in slow motion, most fans want to bench him, so any desire by RM would suprise me.

Can't believe you would think he would move now. It could be his probably last chance to move at his age but he is a rare player, he's loyal to his club.

FowlerGod.

If we take the whole YNWA stuff away for a minute and look at the reality of it - Stevie is well past his best, and not good enough for madrid now. Sad but true.

Dalglish & Souness were better in my opinion!

I think Stevie would actually excel in La Liga even at this age due to his still excellent technical attributes and sheer determination.

I find this rumour hard to believe but if anything were to come of it then it could be beneifcial for both parties.

Wow it took the Eds 5 years to approve this post

Shak Attack

Awkward post. if the right offer came for gerrard we should sell it makes business sense,at the same time,he stayed with us when he could have left and kept us in champs league footy. I would't cry at either decison,grateul or his didication, also must know when to act as a business

Stevie ain't going anywhere now mate

He's the loyalest player ever to try to leave twice. I honestly think after this season if Ted keeps the ship steady, SG & JC need to move on in one way or the other and let the man carry on the rebulding work as they've be allowed too much say in team matters by the last few bosses. Doubt it though, he's already starstruck.

If he goes i wish him all the best he is not going to win anything here unless the yanks dig deep and buy quality, steven gerard should have a lot more winners medals than he has got.

SG to Real Madrid, hhaha

He`s not been good for a few years and this season when all the others are fit he should be on the bench.

Good loyal player he should go and get a few more medals he deserves them... go with dignity

Liverpool are after Mauro Zarate from Lazio. We could get him for as little as £7 million.

Unless he was injured he didnt even make the bench for Lazio on Wednesday. If not injured then why would we want their 3rd or 4th choice striker?

02 Dec 2012 20:21:01
we dont want him at, hes not good enough for us and has been in dreadful form i hear.

Thats expensive mate hes terrible

Ed002 have u got any idea if we were scouting lisandro lopez in the marseille vs lyon game the other night? {Ed002's Note - No, I suggested he might be someone looked at. See earlier answers.}

Liverpool have a better chance of signing Jennifer Lopez!

Fingers crossed, should have bought him years ago

Hi Ed's
I understand u have spoken of this already but what do you think are the chances of gomis? I reckon he will turn out a fantastick player in the premier league! {Ed001's Note - I think it depends on who else shows interest, Spurs will certainly be keen, they are also short of strikers. No way of knowing which the lad will favour, lots of foreign players want London.}

Afternoon eds,

Any interest in Will Hughes ? Ive heard hes being scouted by some top top sides and he sounds like the sort of player liverpool would snap up.

Cheers

Lfc4evaneva {Ed052's Note - There is. But everybody wants him}

Nigel Clough is a former Reds player, remember we offered him Ayala, we have the best chance as seen with the blending-in of our youth players, he will choose us. Solid confident and smart player who will grow up to be special, reminds me of Alonso [I did personally scout him against Leicester] - Danie Derby

My daughter knows Will, and APPARENTLY it's his ambition to play for LFC...then again, we've heard things like this before. Let's hope it comes off, as the boy is class!

02 Dec 2012 15:46:39
Jelle Vossen who plays for genk was watched by a host of pl scouts today. Competition will be high from German clubs for his signature, but he will leave genk in the summer or possibly in january if a decent offer around 8m is made.
Lfc scouts have watched him previously under KK but that interest has been maintained. Also unlikely tom ince will be re-signed by Lfc I believe Wigan are in a good position to buy him.

Vosse (Dutch for Fox) is 23/24 now - if he was going to be a really good player he would have made a mvoe by now. He would probably be a good player for a mid-table premier league club (which we currently are) but not for a top club.

02 Dec 2012 14:56:54
hi eds and all i think where going to get darren bent on loan in january and that will probably be all we will get,i think if we do and he is fit he will score plenty of goals for us...td

Why would we want to get a player who can't get into a poor Villa first team!!
Stupid thinking!

Please no, why would suarez stay if he see's us in january going in for Bent they are leagues apart!!

The echo has already printed that there is no interest in bent yesterday {Ed001's Note - I am sick of saying there is no interest in him.}

Ed001's Note, bust news in a while. {Ed002's Note - But he is right - you can forget all about Marcus Bent.}

02 Dec 2012 14:02:26
According to french Le 10 Sport we are in negotiations with Lyon regarding striker Bafetimbi Gomis.
Lyon need to sell due to their economical problems and we need a striker. Read something about a fee around 8 million .
Could you shed some light on this please.

Heard anything about it?
Would he be a good piece of business?

YNWA
Carl

He's awful.

If we got him it would be the worst piece of business ever.

Didn't he cry after being fouled (a la Nani) in an European match a few years ago? nah, don't want him

Gomis is a decent striker... for Ligue 1 matches.
I can't see him being a real cracker in PL.

02 Dec 2012 13:56:28
Ed, have we shown any interest in Omar Salgado who plays for The Vancouver White Caps?

Apples ;96; {Ed001's Note - never heard of him sorry, I have no idea.}

Good little youngster only 18 tall n pacey b a good signing for the future

02 Dec 2012 13:13:59
ed,
1)is man u looking at sterling?
2)and would we sell?
3)who would his replacement be if so? {Ed001's Note - we would only sell if forced to.}

What clubs are interested in Sterling at the moment? {Ed001's Note - everyone would be interested in taking him if he was available.}

Never to united!!

We would probably replace Sterling with Nathan Dyer, no doubt paying a ridiculous amount of money for him too.

We really are a shambles if we can't keep hold of our brightest young talents.

Mancs won't get sterling

02 Dec 2012 13:19:48
Arsenal fan here,

Any truth in Liverpool signings Walcott in january? Also rumours of Sterling coming the otherway. Hope its not true as another prodigy is the last thing we need and Walcott will just become another overpaid player for you.

Detroit Gooner

I'd rather we took Oxlade-Chamberlain, he's better than Raheem Sterling and Theo Who-What in my opinion.

A straight swap and i'd snatch Wenger's hand off. Chamberlain is a Liverpool fan, much like Theo is, his Dad, and ex-footballer Mark Chamberlain told his boy to go to Arsenal because of the youth Wenger's brought through, but Wenger might like to sell, as he does all his players?

1). I'd prefer Chamberlain for two reasons, because i think he's a quality player, superior to both Theo and Raheem and he's grounded.

2). Also because of the most annoying taxi driver i have ever had the displeasure of being taxi'd by, who said Chamberlain is the best English footballer ever! So just to spite him, i'd like ''the best English footballer ever!'' Playing for Liverpool along one of the other best English footballers, Jordan Henders...Nah! Steven Gerrard. ;)

I reckon we hold on to sterling and bring in ox and have suarez down the centre and those two wide, would bea very exxciting and quick attacking foreward line

None. Wenger will sign him.

Hi Just heard that Suarez wants Rodgers to buy Fernando Aristeguieta from Caracas FC. He looks like he could be a bargain buy. He is big n strong and would work great with Suarez.

Haven't we already had a big and strong partner for suarez in the past?

I'm sure Rodgers out of respect will take a looksee at this player, Pepe asked Kenny to take a look at Cazorla before he moved to Arsenal a year later, maybe he was just what we needed in retrospect, to help the ball through the middle? Who knows.

But it's not uncommon for a player to give a nudge to the manager, i know Cristano Ronaldo was dancing through the United defence in a pre-season friendly against Sporting and at half time a knackered Gary Neville and co said to Fergie he needs to buy him. Or so is claimed in the book.

Work permit issue?

Ed, I'm the guy who left the "Work permit issue" comment.

What I want to ask is, do you think he will get the work permit? He only have 5 caps for his country and I'm not sure does that qualifies him for an English work permit. {Ed001's Note - it would need to be appealed under the special talent rule, or buy him and loan him out.}

Why would Suarez want Rodgers to buy him?

Perhaps he is a serial diver

I think its Napoli he going to as a replacement for Cavani. He plays the same type of game as Cavani and he has italian ancestory so get get work permit that way..If we can get Fernando Aristeguieta would be a great front line up, that going to get loads of goals. Cavani is not in his class.

02 Dec 2012 11:33:39
Eds, any idea of what sort of budget Brendan Rodgers will have for the January window? {Ed001's Note - there is no set budget.}

Oh come on eds give us an indicationor your best guess?! {Ed001's Note - how can I when it doesn't exist?}

As the ed says there is no set budget. I believe a commitee will look at the players that the manager wants and decide what price they are willing to pay, based on age etc etc.

Because there in no budget figure set; I would have thought that BR has to sell before he will be in a position to buy anyone!

02 Dec 2012 11:26:28
hello eds have liverpool strong interest in shane long available for 12 million and radio stations here in ireland say the deal will happen .mark {Ed001's Note - this has been answered, we have looked at him, but I am hoping they will see sense as he is simply not good enough.}

Cheers for the reply but i would disagree with you he is a hard worker has pace good touch strong good finisher and can play out wide as well as up front,mark {Ed001's Note - yes he works hard, but his touch is average, his finishing is wayward and he struggles to pass. Decent player, but simply no improvement on what we already have.}

Sorry Ed have to disagree with you on this one. I think Shane Long is a great player maybe not worth 12m but would certainly be a great buy if we could get him for around 7-8m. But that's just my opinion Ed!
Cheers,
DublinRed. {Ed001's Note - I think your location might have a lot to do with that, I suggest you might have a slight bias!}

Liverpool interested in signing Danny Rose for a transfer fee around 5m. Any truth in this eds?

Danny Rose is on loan at Sunderland and Tottenham wouldn't be willing to sell due to the inconsistency of assou-ekotto and the fact that assou ekotto is also injury prone.

Just watch the Norwich vs Sunderland game (on TV, of course), I think Rose would be a great addition and Downing will be even further down the pecking order. Btw, both Rose and Enrique can play further up the field, maybe Downing will not go just that he is the back-up for both of them.

Why would go for another young left back when we already have one? Sounds like bad business for me.

Chaki
