Hi Eds, I'm reading that Asensio is available for £34m. If that's true surely it's a no brainer. Is it a goer?

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - It is hard to see where he fits in with Chiesa, Haaland, David and Mbappe. I would say yes he might well be an option but others are keen.}

02 Aug 2021 20:45:06
Where is this £34m going to come from?

In a team that good we could sell Becker, don't need a goalie😃👍.

Always liked Asensio and would be buzzing if we signed him, feel like it's just another name though.
I'm sitting back until something is actually announced or atleast concrete.

20 odd mill for Millar, Grabara, Wilson and Awoniyi and a quarter of a mill from not having to pay Gini for ther last month. I mean, that goes a little way towards the agent's fees at least. Now we just need the 34 million.

The same place where the £38 mill for Konate came from.

I do understand why the eds are wary of saying anything about where interest lies. All ed2 is saying we are just one of a number of clubs vying for his signature when all he's getting is where we getting 34mill from and when it's getting announced. Chill out everyone please. We all want Liverpool to buy players but please RELAX.

02 Aug 2021 22:36:04
I'm not asking the Ed's where the £34m is coming from because as they've repeatedly said on here we are skint. Unless more players are moved on there will be no more incomings.

I’d rather not deal with Madrid or take any of their cast offs. The first question they’ll ask is about Salah.

I really, really love the transfer window. Somebody who has not been mentioned at all in the month or so since the window opened become the single biggest thing anybody could ever, ever, ever wish for because some hack mentions he might be available (according to a rumour he heard at the bus stop that morning.

Then we get a thorough in depth financial evaluation of our current finances and rationalise a fee of £ 100 m being do-able. As an aside I like the bit I;this thread that says we get the money for this one from the same place we got the money for the last one 😁😁

It really is a great time of year for a cracking read with the coffee and toast at breakfast. I’d suggest everybody read the threads from the point of view of it being light entertainment rather than anything with any real meaning.

For serious content Ed02’s record of sharing information gives him the right to be listened to. Ed01 has cracking knowledge of the tactical side and obviously has / had contacts within the game, Ed0666 is a nice balance, a fan who knows what he wants but is sensible enough to say when he is speculating and doesn’t actually know and Ed025 is a good lad for the banter.

Anyway, I hear that we are in for Oblak for £ 80 m, which we are going to be able to afford by selling Ali to PSG (you heard it here first)

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed0666's Note - this post made me chuckle so much, thanks Derby needed some light hearted banter at the end of my day. But you make an intriguing point in you’re banter. For arguments sake we sold Ali and replaced him with Oblak would people be happy with that or outraged?

03 Aug 2021 05:17:47
I’d go for happily outraged Ed 😉.

Happy. There's very few of our players that couldn't be upgraded on.

Outraged, Alisson is better.

03 Aug 2021 09:13:35
We know klopp loves that player and if that price is genuine, surely we would be in for him.
The whole we are broke thing is part FFP and part ploy to ensure we get good deals. Think how rubbish we were in the TM pre FSG. We were an absolute joke. Paying over the odds whilst getting less than actual value for players sold. We were in fact probably the worst performing team in the TM after the barnes/ beardsley/ Houghton era because other clubs used to milk our success / rep.
Now we find Gems for around 30m and turn them into worldies, whilst selling bang average players for top dollar.

Is oblak any good with his head?

Agree2 Disagree0

03 Aug 2021 14:19:09
I think Alisson feels really at home at LFC. The difference between him and Oblak is marginal at best. So I say we stick with the guy who knows how to use his head.

Agree1 Disagree0

03 Aug 2021 18:42:03
Oblak is better at stopping the ball going in the net. The slow methodical restarting of attacks and distribution of the ball would drive us nuts.

Hi Ed’s, fully understand that we need to move some players on if we’re to add more non home grown, With Shaqiri and Origi being the most likely, Shaqiri has made it clear he wants to move, but what’s the situation with Origi?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool will listen to offers.}

02 Aug 2021 19:51:36
But have there been any? Should've sold him to wolves when his value was a lot higher.

{Ed002's Note - RTFP.}

02 Aug 2021 19:55:55
I am just hoping the rumours of Elliot going back out on loan are false especially to a side like Sheff Utd who haven't played the best of football over the last 18 months or so.

Agree3 Disagree0

02 Aug 2021 20:00:27
Is there any interest in Origi Ed and is there still interest in Minamino. It is quiet clear they have no future at the club Ed hope we don’t price them out of a move is clear there are 6 or 7 players that are not going to get much if any game time even if we don’t buy anybody they need to go for there good and the clubs price them out of moves costs us all the wages for another season.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Nothing has changed.}

02 Aug 2021 20:09:44
Jordz there is more chance of you going on loan to the Championship than Elliot.

Looks like there's going to be an awful lot of money floating around if the proposed deals in the market are going to happen.

Grealish to City for around £100mil and now Harry Kane going on strike at spurs (potentially another £100mil+ in the prem) . Then the rumours of Mbappe to Real Madrid becoming a reality (probably around £150mil) .

Could have a big knock on effect for the last month of the window.

No relevance to Liverpool FC. its for clubs with money to splash.

{Ed025's Note - in the words of william shakespeare (and im paraphrasing here) you are boracic lint laa, and have not got a pot to pee in.. :)

02 Aug 2021 12:16:59
Half of the fan base seems to wish we were owned by some shady Arabs or oligarchs so that we could splash billions on full backs.
We will get what we need in another MF and Forward, although they will of course underwhelm the football manager minded fans.
FSG have done alright so far, and once again, even as we are, the data analysis says we will come 2nd this season (that predictive data system has not been wrong for 4 years apparently) .
Apparently that changes if Manchester United buy Camavinga, who would single handedly add 6 points to their total. However, when we buy Biss and whoever else, they will also add to our total.
Winning the league against a manager like pep with the whole of Saudi's resources behind him is not easy, so anything we do within our means is pretty miraculous.
Enjoy it and stop moaning, Klopp will be leaving in 3 years, and we may never have as good a manager again in our lifetimes.

It's not Saudi, it's Abu Dhabi. Saudi is about to enter through New castle lol.

Most don't want to be owned by oligarchs or rich Arabs but we do expect a bit of squad strengthening and some money spent. Yes we've lost money as everyone has due to the C.V. but our owners are not paupers either, they're worth billions aswell. A little bit of investment is needed if we're going to compete with city, utd and Chelsea this season. And before anyone starts I'm not talking massive money signings.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - All of the clubs have to work within FFP.}

02 Aug 2021 14:36:42
We are not broke Redmick, our owners are worth billions.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - The worth of the owners is of no relevance. The club has to work within FFP.}

02 Aug 2021 15:01:39
Indeed Ed, and isn't it more enjoyable seeing players made into better players rather than buying the most expensive? I am excited to see Bissouma quietly join with little fanfare and then kick the ass out of it in our MF.

Edo25 i was going to write that but thought it a bit explicit for the site. 😅🤣😅well done you.

Red Mick you must be out of your mind! Fsg have done alright so far? Under fsg and Klopp Liverpool have become a real competitive team won the league and the champions league and made multiple finals. They have been brilliant and they have delivered whilst in theory balancing the books. But what you said is right mate.
