Hi Ed002, hope all is well. If I remember correctly you stated in the past that interest in Todd Cantwell may have waned. Was just wondering if this was ever the case or if you had any idea of his transfer situation. I only wonder because there has been recent reports from The Athletic and other journalists that Liverpool will attempt to sign the player should Norwich be relegated (a given) . Thanks for any info.

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of any change in the situation. As far as I know the interest has waned in favour of integrating Curtis Jones.}

Rightly so I don't get the idea of cantwell nowhere near LFC quality.

I agree, Curtis Jones is ready to step up and I believe the money would be best spent signing a versatile attacking player or DC from Sevilla (provided we can get the appropriate sales) . Here's hoping someone is interested in Lovren other than Roma.

Why isn’t Cantwell Liverpool quality? I think he’s a great young talent myself. I would have him ahead of Jones personally talent wise although I do think it’s better to promote from within wherever possible.

Robertson wasnt LFC quality and we all know how much tonnes of humble pie had to be eaten because of him. I wouldn't rule out anyone Klopp decides to bring in. HOWEVER, we have Jones, and given games he could prove to be a 40mill saving considering how much english midfielders go for.

I think Curtis Jones will save us a transfer fee here, with due respect to Cantwell.

He is not even close to our level.

1985mikey1985 I don't get how you can say Cantwell is Better than Jones his 3 years older. Cantwell from what I have seen is ok but nothing special. Jones for just turning 19 looks like he could be a real player but only time will tell.

If Jones works as hard as Trent has, he’ll go a long way.

I'd have to go with 1985Mickey on this and say that, at this moment, Cantwell is the better player. But it's a bit of comparing apples and oranges because there's a 3 year age difference in the crucial development years. I've seen both play quite a few times. Cantwell seems to be quicker with ball at feet. Jones looks good, and takes advantage of, the large amount of space he's always given with the U23's. Cantwell seems livelier while Jones looks more technically adept with long passes and curling free kicks.

But I would take Jones right now. Simply because I'm not sure how much importance Klopp places on the AM position in the team? He already plays Keita and Ox further up then our other two mids. And he tried to play Lallana as a holding midfielder because he didn't know what to do with him. So, bring in Jones full time, give him a year to grow and develop. See how it goes. Maybe Jones' peak is far higher than Cantwell's? Plus, it's cheaper and a talented local boy is always a plus.

{Ed001's Note - Lallana was put as a holding mid because we needed one and Lallana was not needed in any other position. It was not about not knowing what to do with him, it was about filling a gap in the squad and using a player that would otherwise be surplus to do so.}
