Ed2 are we interested in Tchoumeni from Monaco?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Aurelien Tchouameni (DM/CM) Juventus, Real Madrid and Chelsea have a declared an interest in the player and have held discussions with Monaco. However, after signing Zakaria and being close to signing another midfield player, Juventus can possibly now be discounted as they look to other lower-price midfield options to cover departures, with Monaco's financial demands being seen as significant. Real Madrid opted for Camavinga last summer and have yet to realistically exploit him - and they will concentrate on other priorities but cannot be discounted as Casemiro might leave in the summer - but again, they are smarting at the asking price. Anceslotti would like both players in his midfield but may not be coach next season. PSG need to make significant changes to their aging midfield and have spoken with his agent, although not yet Monaco. Again, I would not discount them but they have others in mind as well. Chelsea had a creative solution in mind that would suit both clubs and will likely push for a deal, but of course will have new owners by the summer. They could push again and I would not rule them out. Manchester City have a list of potential Fernandinho replacements, including Tchouameni. Other clubs including Manchester United, Liverpool and Borussia Dortmund have looked at him and spoken with his agent, but have not declared an interest to Monaco or they have preferred midfield targets at this time. Monaco have told clubs that they are not looking to sell for less than €100M but realistically it will be less than that. For Liverpool it would be a pretty much like-for-like replacement in midfield - and they are not looking to move him on. Barcelona would be priced out of a deal unless players would be taken in exchange as they have other plans for their money this coming summer. It is difficult to imagine any side paying that much and Real Madrid would almost certainly look to including one or more players in any deal - and they will opt to push for Pogba instead - but don't discount them. Monaco have said they won't accept a player exchange but the player has made it clear wants to move to Real Madrid and that may not be possible for cash.}

Mighty reds, i found some interesting comments on Tchoumeni which may suggest that this season he has developed into more than just a holding player like Casemeiro, Fabinho or Fernandinho. May be why we've spoken to his agent. Possible our scouts viee him as a long term successor to Henderson in a box to box role? Seems to back up what Ed002 has said as well in terms of contacting his agent only at this stage.

“For the moment, there is just some contact with his agent. Monaco knows it too. The player is very interested in Liverpool, ” Santi Aouna shared.

“If Aurelien Tchouameni has managed to become regular in his performances, it is also because over time he has settled into a role that suits him better.

“Positioned higher on the pitch, his athletic and technical abilities allow him to bring a real plus offensively without neglecting defensive tasks. He is mature in and off the pitch. Complete player. ”.

No wonder Naby is playing out of his skin . Our MF is about to get shaken up. As much as i love Milly, is 140k a week warranted anymore? Klopp knows best obviously but i would not be surprised to see Ox and Milly do one.

Did you see JK’s comment about Milly after the match today? If Millie wants to stay, he will - rightly in my opinion - be here next season. On or off the pitch I think he would always have a spot in JK’s plans.

Do we play box to box midfielders anymore. Our line is so high not even our centre half’s and full backs are near our box anymore let alone our midfielders 🤣.

With 5 subs next season its abit more feasible to have more quality in the team and still keep players happy.

We do have Carvalho, Elliot, Jones next season though so that is a few spaces in the team to take up.

I kind of agree with the b2b bit - is that what we need. I think a mid that works hard but is more creative, like a David silva type would be amazing.

Remember Milly can cover a number of positions so another season with LFC with what I personally believe see him going into management with him learning coaching with LFC U18s if not next season the season afterwards.

Can't put a price on proper leadership. Milly should be held onto! Absolute consummate professional. Massive loss if he was let go.

Milner can fill in so many positions. The only thing he can’t do is play 2 times a week which he’s had to do this season a hell of a lot more than he should’ve. Which is why we’re 100% going to be getting some midfield reinforcements In.

If there is one signing we make this summer, it would be Aurelian Tchouameni. We have an excellent selection of midfielders but we lack someone with the legs and power - especially with Gini gone and Hendo on the decline. It seems that we have moved on from Bissouma now so let's see what happens in the summer.

Ed002, any truth in the links to Enes Unal (Getafe striker) as far as you are aware? I tried the search function but it just pulls up hundreds of posts about "tribUNAL" fees. Lots of links to him today as an Origi replacement.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Enes Unal (S) one time Manchester City striker has failed to live up to intial expectation and apart from a good spell at Twente and a decent season in Getafe this year his return in tems of goals has been poor. Would certainly not be a starter for Liverpool and it would be a surprise and indicate that none of the youngsters are good enough to replace the few games Origi plays each season.}

Cheers mate. Did strike me as a strange rumour. I would've thought K. Gordon, Musialowski or Woltman might get a chance in pre-season before money is spent on an Origi replacement.

Hi edd,

Would you expect the club to follow up on Klopps contract extension, and complete contract extensions for some of those running out within the next year or so. Adrian, Keita, Mané, Salah, Ox, Milner or Bobby?

Have a great weekend.

Cheers.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - It is unrelated to Klopp. The club have been trying to get Salah to agree a new contract but his agent is still hawking him around to see what other offers he can get. The club are aware of Mane's very high financial demands but will look to extending his contract. I don't know what will happen with Robert Firmino - Liverpool cannot add players without making space - extending the contracts of 30 year olds is not ideal. Adrián is out of contract in the summer - perhaps a one year deal. Naby Keita - I am told he is looking to stay but Liverpool might want to see what options they can find for him. The whole affair has not gone terribly well and he remains a pest after his antics. Is limited in the countries he can move to. AOC is uncomfortable with his lack of game time and options are being sought by his agent. May look to run his contract down which will open up options. James Milner (M) Out of contract this summer. At 36 it is the time to move on or retire.

Liverpool have an aging squad with eight first team regulars 30 or over. It needs reducing.}

Thank you very much. Hope we get Mané and Salah on new contracts, or at least one of them. Milner have been a great servant of the club as far as I know, and I for one would love him to stay within the club. It continues to riddle me, how Keita have not been tutored from his misbehaviuor at this point. Howcome he doesn't settle in?

Happy friday, edd.

{Ed002's Note - Keita is a complete bonehead.}

Ed I know you said he played up while in Germany but has he played up whilst with us. I can't recall you saying anything while he's been here.

{Ed002's Note - Not that I am aware of.}
