Ed001, do you know if we are still looking to bring in a new left back? and if so, do you know who we are looking at? or are we happy with milner and moreno? personally have to say i think milner is doing very well, and still hope moreno will improve enough to be our first choise left back for years to come.

Believable2 Unbelievable2

{Ed001's Note - Milner does not see his long term future at left back, which is the issue really. He is beginning to settle in, but Moreno is not pushing him for his place at all, even though he has knuckled down and worked hard, he is just not learning. We are still considering Tierney of Celtic, but there are a few other clubs, such as the Manchester clubs and Arsenal, also looking at him.}

28 Oct 2016 15:52:59
Would love us to get Tierney we always win trophies with Scots in the side. Unfortunately he is the only Scottish player good enough at the moment to play for us . He has still got a lot to learn but in my opinion he would be more than just potential.

Milner doesn't still see himself as a CM does he ed?
He must surely see he's doing better at left back and therefore should be happy he's a better and more important member of the team and more likely to win trophies as a result?

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - he would prefer to be in central midfield yes, though he is beginning to find his feet at left back, so perhaps he will grow to love it. While things are going well, it is one thing, but that could change so easily, so only time will really tell. He is certainly a lot happier about being left back than he was initially.}

thank you the answer Ed001!
great work you guys do on here.
very apreciated.

{Ed001's Note - you are very welcome mate.}

Better than the bench from his point of view i suppose.

Moreno showed us that he has not improved during his time out of the side. His woeful defensive display against Tottenham included his "trademark" tackles in the penalty area, his complete lack of positional awareness and his inability to deliver any attacking end product.

We just need a replacement as he is a liability. I'm still baffled that a replacement wasn't a priority pre season.

If Milner picks up any injury or suspension we will be back to seeing every team attacking us down Moreno's flank knowing that that is our week link!

To be fair, he wasn't bad against Tottenham and even looked like he has learned a lesson or two. Nothing to suggest he takes his position back, but give credit where it's due. He certainly wasn't woeful.

We shall have to agree to disagree Amerigo 😁

I saw nothing against that very weak Tottenham side that showed Moreno has improved.

Agree3 Disagree11

29 Oct 2016 10:52:03
I agree with Amerigo, his time out and hard work seem to have improved him from woeful to deeply average if the spurs game is anything to go by.

Ed1 would you prefer Tierney or would you want TAA to be given his chance? I understand for TAA it's probably a little to early. I know nothing about Tierney I just don't want incoming when we have these youngsters you know?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - TAA all day long.}

29 Oct 2016 11:00:25
Nevermind sorry I got the wrong end of the stick and thought we was talking about clynes position again lol.

29 Oct 2016 11:12:32
Thought Moreno did ok at Spurs but yet again let himself down by getting caught upfield at 2-1 with minutes to go and but for some poor control would've been punished for it. If you look at his reaction at the time he knew it too. He seems a nice lad but like others have said he just doesn't seem to learn.

29 Oct 2016 11:18:08
TAA is exciting thanks ed1.

Ed, just to add something to the left back thread, it was clear we were after a young left back following our pursuit of Ben Chilwell in the summer.

With numerous clubs circling and him not being on a professional contract yet, do you see us being interested in Josh Tymon of Hull City?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - he has been recommended to us, so I would expect us to be interested. I never realised he was a left back though.}

29 Oct 2016 15:10:16
Thanks for the reply Ed001.

{Ed001's Note - welcome mate.}

If Milner do not find his long term at LB, then I think we need find replacement for Milner and LB.

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Oct 2016 21:11:59
ed001 - is there general agreement within the club that we need to recruit someone for LB? I remember Klopp saying something like we have options etc, but I just can't see that he would truly be satisfied with this current situation where Milner is playing out of position (albeit very well) and Moreno as the main competition?

do you see any suitable players out there that we should be bringing in? or should we continue to develop TAA and J. Gomez etc?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - the club are continuing to look around for a left back yes. Neither TAA nor Gomez are seen as left backs.}

31 Oct 2016 09:25:09
Do you think it's likely we will look to buy a new LB in the January transfer window or is it more like the summer?

Personally I'm hoping Moreno keeps up his good form and we don't need to buy anybody else but we'll see. I think finally he's really looking quite good and deserves another chance, even over Milner. Milner no doubt did great in that position but if he's not happy there then Moreno deserves another go and the past 2 games he's played (especially Saturday) he's impressed me. I'll probably get slammed for this but its just my opinion. Credit to the lad.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - summer is most likely now.}

31 Oct 2016 10:49:42
hello Ed01, do you see any future for Moreno in Liverpool, say as a left winger?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - not as a left winger, no. If he can continue to work hard at his game and improve, then he has a future.}

01 Nov 2016 08:21:31
I've never seen this Tierney lad play so I'm not writing him off. A word of caution though, Scotland has been a dire league for years and is almost wrapped up already by a Club which has been royally hammered in Europe. In short, looking good in Scotland might not be much of a testimonial and just because some big clubs are monitoring him says very little. Everyone's after decent defenders and any player showing even a little promise will invite a bidding-war.
I'd stick with a very impressive Milner with Gomez, Klavan and Moreno as back-up till the end of the season. I stand to be corrected on Tierney if it happens but I think we're too well equipped in the LB department to be panic-buying until at least the end of the season.

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Nov 2016 16:07:22
What about Jon Flannagan? He seemed to do fine a few seasons ago when we nearly won the title. He is back from a long injury, and if he is performing well, then why not bring him back from his loan? He is a class played in my opinion.

28 Oct 2016 14:41:25
Eds is it true Milner is out at the weekend due to illness? Sincerely hope this story is nonsense. My ticker can't handle moreno for 90 mins.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - he has missed training during the week, so it will be touch and go as to whether he plays.}

28 Oct 2016 19:56:34
Well, if that means Moreno plays then we can expect nervous defending, maybe a penalty or two and a massive boost to Palace's attackers. I'd rather take a punt on Klavan at LB even though he hasn't played there much.

Agree4 Disagree7

28 Oct 2016 21:15:17
Thanks ed1

Even Klaven would worry me but yeah i'd probably prefer him on then Moreno, but Klaven didn't have the best of games the other night, I'm not sure he'd be an improvement but it's worth a shot, Moreno isn't good for my health.

I'd rather Can sit in there to be honest. He's played there both domestically and internationally (though could have been right back for Germany)

Reports in a number of Swedish papers this morning that Liverpool ( And Real Madrid) have had AIK Solna's 17 yr old forward Alexander Isaks scouted recently. Big lad at 1.9m and 12 goals in 20 starts. m.

And we've signed 15 year old 6"5 emeka obi from bury a centre back.

Agree4 Disagree1

28 Oct 2016 00:09:37
Eds, is this true that we signed this 15 yr old emeka obi, and is he really as highly rated as reported?

Believable2 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - we are waiting on some paperwork, but yes it seems to be all done apart from that. He is very highly rated, but a lot of that is down to his physique.}

28 Oct 2016 06:33:47
Hopefully doesn't turn out to be like Cherno Samba.

Agree1 Disagree0

28 Oct 2016 08:30:15
He's 6"5. I guess you could say he's tall for his age.

Agree1 Disagree0

28 Oct 2016 08:42:58
Thanks ed001 much appreciated, what position does he play?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - he has played defence up until now, but youngsters often end up playing in a completely different position when they are an adult. Carragher was a striker as a kid, before becoming a midfielder and then ending up a defender.}

28 Oct 2016 13:11:45
Either tall for his age or young for his height.

Agree2 Disagree0

28 Oct 2016 13:36:50
Firmino was a centre back also, I believe.

Agree4 Disagree0

28 Oct 2016 14:52:40
Van Der Sar was once a midfielder as a kid

Also Klass-Yan Huntelaar was once a keeper I believe.

Agree1 Disagree0

28 Oct 2016 15:07:53
Firmino was a defensive midfielder when he was younger actually Annie, he attributes that to why the defensive side of his game his so strong.

Agree1 Disagree3

28 Oct 2016 20:51:44
Actually Annie is correct, he did play CB when he was younger.

Agree2 Disagree0

29 Oct 2016 11:49:07
If he is 6"5 at 15 years old he is going to end up playing as a centre in the NBA.
