Can any of the Ed's confirm if there is any reported interest in Lovren from Napoli, Milan and Roma?

This has been in reports today but just wondered if you could clarify.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - The first I have heard of this and am not in a position to check as I am away. What I can say is that Milan and Roma have tentative CB targets and he would make a viable financial option. Napoli I am not so sure and rather doubt he would be a viable option if their situation changed and needed a CB. Regardless, he is experienced and generally seen as a good player.}

Cheers for clearing up Ed. Much appreciated.

As always, ED02, many thanks for your contribution with questions like this.

Enjoy your time away.

Personally I can't see Lovren going anywhere, not this year.

Seen these rumours and while I hope he stays I wouldn't hold it against him if he would want to leave. Great back up and we might struggle to find a better back up centre back who is comfortable playing in a defence with a high line.

Ed do you know if he is looking to leave?

Agree1 Disagree2

{Ed002's Note - I really don't know.)

29 Mar 2019 19:18:21
i think the main worrying stat is that lovren hasn't played more than something like 6 games in a row before being injured.

whilst i have no doubt he is a decent player we can't have a group of injury prone CB's.

Have to respectfully disagree salah, Lovren is a champions league and world cup finalist he would get into plenty of top teams in the world. He gets a hard time from a lot of Liverpool fans, myself included at times, but he is a top centre back and will attract interest as he ha fallen behind gomez and arguably matip in pecking order. Will be 3rd choice for us at best next season why would he not look to go elsewhere?

I agree bmena, I like him as a player mate, he's not incredible or anything but sure, he's a good player and is a good backup, I'm sure teams will be interested in him but all I meant was A. I don't see him wanting to leave and B. I don't see us wanting to sell, not yet. Who knows, it may happen but nothing suggests it will anytime soon, we all know how full of sh*t the media are.

Matip undoubtedly had a good run of games. But he hasn't taken Lovren's place, in my mind. Lovren is a key player for our defense, even if he is not going to be in the first 11 week in, week out. Fitness levels permitting, he is interchangeable with Gomez, with very little fall off in quality. And fitness levels permitting, he allows, Gomez to be interchangeable with Alexander-Arnold at RB. Sure, Matip gives you the same, but i believe there is a noticeable drop off in quality.

Lovren is a good player with very good attributes but concerns me he can’t play more than 6 games in a row to be more consistent we need less injury prone players .

Matip is better than Lovren.

Agree1 Disagree3

{Ed001's Note - in what way?}

01 Apr 2019 12:43:49
In the way he beat Kane to every high ball yesterday and stuck with his man rather than getting drawn to the ball, sorry tris but imo lovren is a liability and although matip looks gangly he’s very good in the air and ain’t bad at reading the game, I thought he was very good yesterday bar the one slip.

Agree0 Disagree2

{Ed001's Note - one slip? He was out of position constantly and is far too slow, constantly giving away needless free kicks that even he got annoyed with himself for giving away. I really do not know what you saw but it was nothing like reality.}

01 Apr 2019 13:00:24
Still better than lovren though 😉, have a good day mate.

Agree3 Disagree2

{Ed001's Note - I am not convinced but nice comeback.}

In the words of Gerard Butler “this is madness”.

I assume Gomez is the future, Lovren would be seen as first choice if not for injuries and Matip has covered well when he wasn't expected to play half the games he got. That said, I expect Matip to be moved on or kept one more year until his contract expires. Milner and Moreno will probably move on, as will Randall, so an investment in a left sided defender is pretty likely this summer. Personally like to see a center back come too but only if there's a worldie out there. Can't see midfield needing too much but an attacking player is needed to replace Sturridge and Origi.

Hi Ed002

Just wanted to ask if you are aware if CHO agent has met or approached Lfc in anyway please? Appreciate it if you don't won't to open this up and I've read what you've said a few days ago on the subject.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - You mean his brother. Why would he approach Liverpool?}

28 Mar 2019 09:53:52
could people stop abbreviating names to save about 0.4 seconds please. Takes everyone else a good 8 seconds to work out who you mean. Cheers, all the best.

I don’t no Ed, thank you for reply, I guess I’m just trying to figure out the depth of our interest in him mate. He wouldn’t approach us and it was a silly question tbh.

Agree2 Disagree3

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool has no declared interest and no space in the side unless Salah is sold.}

28 Mar 2019 12:20:11
He wants to be a first team regular which he wouldn’t be here so it would seem to me a pointless move, I personally think he’s better off developing at Chelsea.

Agreed that these acronyms are annoying and out of control.

Is it not better to just use the first part of the surname for hyphenated names?

Alexander
Oxlade
Hudson

It's not as if there are a whole bunch of Alexanders or Oxlades plying their trades in the EPL, let alone LFC, so I am sure we will all understand who is being referred to.

oh my goodness I am laughing out loud. in my opinion callum hudson odoi hasn't earned the right to have his name abbreviated.

Thanks Faith, was still trying to work out who CHO was.

I like how auto correct changes it to Hudson-Odour so for that reason alone we should keep it longhand.

Navy Keith and

Mo Salad.

Who else could TAA be?
Who else could The Ox be?
They are the most common abbreviations of those twos names and don’t leave much room for confusion.

In my line of work CHO stands for cold handover. Needless to say, the confusion was real here for a few moments.

I remember Ed002 using abbreviations once to mention Mo Salah's agent. Baffled me for about 15 minutes.

{Ed002's Note - DF I imagine.}

We could use team and squad number to identify players hehe.

I honestly thought Cho was just a Chinese player I'd not heard of 😂.
