Seems like a lot of money for a Shaq or Minamino replacement. It is not like they played a lot of minutes for us last year. Would rather the 60m be spent on a starter.

No problem with Jones being used to fill the spot that Wij has left.

With the club already having a tight budget I just don't see the sense in spending 50/ 60 mill euros on a player to replace someone that is essentially a squad player. I'd expect someone of that fee to be a starter.

Is Salah going to be offered a new contract? If not he need's selling ASAP . If Shaq, Origi and Minamino are going to be sold, then of course we need a replacement rotation player.

It's a tricky call. We have midifielders who are nearer the end of their career than the start - Milner, Henderson and even the Ox (if he stays) . I suspect that buying an 'expensive' midfielder - €40-€50m - would probably mean that Naby is leaving. Not for that sort of fee (duh! ) but a relatively decent fee.

I don't doubt that Jones is seen as a part of the future midfield, but we don't seem to have anyone else who could form part of Klopp's next first 11. So rumours like this make sense to me.

Whether its Gravenberch or Neuhaus or Bissouma or someone else, I can see them coming this window. Just my view though, I'm as far from ITK as you can get!

I agree Zed we definitely need a midfielder, if we don’t sign one at some point in the season we will be caught short.

You’re not wrong Mark, If we lose both Fabinho and Henderson for any period of time we’re in trouble as was shown last season, the remaining options aren’t good enough to compete.

We need a goal scoring midfielder. We don’t have that and Gini never provided that. Jones won’t provide that and Shaq and Minimino will likely leave. Bring Coutinho back.

Ed why no reason to give Mo a new contract when he is down to his last 2 years? I thought it started becoming risky at this stage?

There is no reason why Jones can’t go on to become a good goal scoring midfielder. He gets in the right positions so with a little more experience he should get goals.

But I agree for next season he can’t be expected to perform the job at a top quality midfielder.

Embolo is a beast, if he had an end product he’d be dangerous.
