Sturridge is 100% on his way out.

I don't think I could care less about a player staying or leaving. And I mean that in the best way. Love Dan, I think he is one of the most talented players we've ever had, so would happily keep him, I'm not paying his wages. Then his injuries mean we have no idea what we would get from him all season and if he is to go we seen last year Liverpool play some blinders with sales and I suspect that there would be a lot of money coming if he were to go.

Let's hope we get a top-class experienced replacement and not young potential players.

Agree1 Disagree1

29 Jun 2017 02:03:08
If it's true that means we desperately need to sign 2 players and also, not quite so desperately, a cb. We need a lb and now a forward. Lacazette would be fantastic but I've always suspected there is a lot of truth in the luan rumour.

Agree2 Disagree2

29 Jun 2017 08:44:31
The situation with Sturridge is a difficult one. When fit, he can be a world class striker but due to his injury record, it would make sense to let him go if a decent offer arrives. Will he be back to his best and stay injury free, is anyone's guess. But judging from last season, I felt that he was not the same Sturridge anymore as in, you can see that he will not push himself too hard when chasing balls and its not because he's lazy but he doesn't want to risk getting injured again. On top of that, he wouldn't want to be a bench player if we were to pick Firmino ahead of him. or someone else as a matter of fact.

Believable0 Unbelievable6

{Ed001's Note - not that I am aware of.}

28 Jun 2017 19:54:28
A mate of mine in London used to work as an Auditing manager for a high end cleaning firm and claimed a Spurs official he met on the job told him they were interested. I don't know if he was just winding me up now, but he still claims it was legit info. He is so uninterested in football though (one of those who claims to support United, but couldn't tell you who is there captain), so whilst he had no reason to lie, he could easily be fooled by someone trying to look cool.

No idea if it was true in the first place though, let alone if it is still the case now. Seemed believable at the time with the Poch/ Lallana Saints link.

Any truth Joe Gomez has agreed a season long loan to Brighton?

Believable3 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - there is every chance he will be going on loan, as Ed002 has been saying for a while.}

28 Jun 2017 17:14:34
So edd01. What do you think will we still peruse virgil as sako is leaving as well. If we don't this will leave us short at the back. Gomez and sako we will need someone.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - there will be one brought in if Gomez goes, yes. As I said, there are a lot of people within the club who still believe VVD will be coming in.}

28 Jun 2017 17:37:33
Shouldn't we be making a bid then Edd01?

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - what is the rush?}

28 Jun 2017 17:45:01

Just had the same info this morning regarding VVD, we have always continued to discuss possible options for transfer with both Saints and VVD Rep since the "tapping up" broke. We are trying to mend strained relations with loans of fringe players e. g. Ings, Ojo. All parties agreed to wait until FA verdict was announced and new Saints manager in place this obviously helps now Pellegrino has taken the position. Got this info from a very reliable source who has always gave me the tips prior to being in press he has a good success rate so far!

Southampton's new owners saying Virgil is going nowhere

And Man City are in with a £60 million bid for Keita

All in all I don't think anybody has a clue it's just filling copy
Im of the opinion your best waiting till you see them in a red shirt as every few days its switch about and we are back in the frame for everyone all over again these people change like the wind

Some people need to think before they reply. Whether Alansbarnet is in the know or not, he clearly states, "Ox has broken down" then says "VVD and Keita still coming along nicely, creswell too". then he says "so close to things being finalised with Chamberlain too" as in "it's a shame as it was so close". yes it's not great writing by AB, but before you reply, read a comment again and engage brain! Didn't know this was a test of ones English on here. i assumed that would be for the English banter pages . the Ox last week had to choose over 2 houses in Liverpool it was that close . Now I heard he's staying at arsenal, they have upped his wages and promised him more playing time. cresswell we have enquired about 3 times now, VVD and Keita WILL be LFC players in this transfer window . we have asked about Robertson and the lad at Celtic who I don't think we will get . i also mentioned ages ago we had a strong interest in Mbappe and said we would get him either . that ok for the vocab police?

Hi Eds, enjoying your output in the silly pre-season before the window silly season. Will Woodburn be loaned out next season? My worry with him as regards making it to be a really great Liverpool player, is his lack of pace. He's unlikely to figure too much I'd have thought if we make 2-3 more signings.

Believable2 Unbelievable1

{Ed001's Note - right now he is not set for a loan move, but that may change. A lot depends on what offers we get for him and if any would offer him the football he needs.}

28 Jun 2017 15:08:30
Cheers Ed, what I expected I guess. Like all young players who show early promise you wanna see what they can actually do away from that crazy "he's amazing; he said awful" hyperbole we fans can get caught up in.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - agreed. However it only takes a few games where they are not looking amazing before fans are ready to give up and move on to the next bright young thing coming through, see Origi for an example.}

28 Jun 2017 08:11:30
The german Media linked us with Max Meyer from Schalke (yes, again) .

Apperently he would be available for €15mio which are peanuts these days for a talented young player with a decent amount of first team experience.

Any thoughts/ news? I know tottenham is interested aswell but we should have the advantage with Klopp and a few german players.

Believable3 Unbelievable8

28 Jun 2017 08:53:57
My issues with this is, we have plenty of young talent who we should be giving chances to before forking out money for young players like Max Meyer, no matter the amount.

Agree17 Disagree1

28 Jun 2017 09:12:59
Has not looked ready for EPL from what have seen of the current U-21's tourney and not seen enough of Bundesliga to really judge him too much. I also very highly doubt that he will be available for that amount to an EPL team.

Salah signing has ended any possibility of him joining I would think and from what I have seen of him would rather give our own youth a chance.

Agree5 Disagree0

28 Jun 2017 09:36:55
Meerkat: Meyer is a Central midfielder though so i won't see a problem with signing Meyern and Salah.

I haven't watched the U21 but i do watch the Bundesliga (rarely miss a match day) and he looks promising for a U21. Decent ball controll, not one of the quickest players there is but still has a fair amount of pace to him and he wants to develop.

I think he won't be a bad choice for squad depth but on the other hand we can't just add 50 Midfielders. The media likes to link us with every player there is on the market and evenmore with every decent young german player because of Klopp. I hope that our transfer business will be solved as quick as possible so that the squad can start preseason as complete as possible.

Agree1 Disagree5

28 Jun 2017 09:57:17
No better than our current young crop from what i've seen of him in the U21s.

Agree9 Disagree2

28 Jun 2017 10:04:22
I agree, Crammie regarding every German player being linked to us bcos of Klopp. As for Meyer, I am not that keen on him as he is an attacking midfielder who will not dislodge any of our starters and will not agree to being a bench warmer so I call nonsense on these links esp. since he's been linked with us since Klopp took over.

Agree3 Disagree0

28 Jun 2017 10:47:29
Afcom will come around again and we will need width. Don't get a great deal of promising German players here ozil. Let's face it. they are winners. Klopp will win the league if given the time although I think this is our year. With a bit more depth I think we would have won this one just gone. We're sensational at the start. So what if you concede every week if we're scoring 3/ 4/ 5. Anything else we sign ie cb lb will be a bonus. Like to see more of T. A. A this year and maybe ojo and solanke. Max Meyer will be z smart move. I been waiting for klopp to slowly bring the low lands over to liverpool. Could set a precedent.

Agree0 Disagree10

28 Jun 2017 11:01:45
Ojo, Wilson, Woodburn just get rid of those talents then Jonny?

Agree8 Disagree0

28 Jun 2017 11:15:23
No of course not Bobby. Although Meyer has already got experience at the highest level. More a first team player than another promising talent. He's already delivering the goods. Woodburn will get through, needs to bulk up is all and ojo and t. a. a will I believe. None of those are wingers either. In 3 yrs he'll be £35 mil player at least.

Agree0 Disagree3

28 Jun 2017 11:18:38
Also if you get a group of very good youngsters playing together week in week out reserves, under 23s. It can only be a good thing. Some other team did alright with their kids. Poor now though.

Agree1 Disagree2

28 Jun 2017 11:46:36
BobbyJ do you not know, everyone else's young players are better than ours. Why play your own young player when you can spend £15mil and buy one! Madness or "far away feilds. "

Agree3 Disagree1

28 Jun 2017 11:59:23
But your putting another player in their way blocking the way to the first team.

Doesn't make sense to me and what i've seen of Meyer he is by no means 1st team ready for Lpool.

Agree3 Disagree0

28 Jun 2017 12:06:20
If we sign vvd and Meyer the team is starting to look quite Dutch or deutsch land. Nothing wrong with that. I like ox coz he's another England player.

Agree0 Disagree7

28 Jun 2017 12:18:56
Jonny: England players are more expensive though because they are english. If you look back at the euros or even the world cup most England players came from Liverpool (i think at the worldcup we had 9 players in the England squad) .

Also if we get vvd, meyer and keita we have a Afcon/ Dutch/ German side. :D.

Agree0 Disagree1

28 Jun 2017 13:04:39
Crammed you would have to admit that £25 mil is a good deal. For an English player. Not like we're paying over the odds for him coz he's English. I think Meyer would make it in the first team. Like I said I'm sure Woodburn ojo and tta will get through, buying Meyer does not halt the progress of any of those three. He's a winger. Tta wing back and two strikers. I know it's controversial to praise the gerries but I for one wouldn't mind a few more at Liverpool. Can is class, hanman was different class and he's big reason we won European cup. There good at football.

Agree1 Disagree2

28 Jun 2017 13:10:42
Tbh I have never seen Meyer play live. But I don't know how anyone can say he not as ready as Ojo for our first team when he has played regularly in budesliga and in European competions.

Also he is currently playing for Germany's u21s and has player for the senior side where ojo was with our u18s.

Agree1 Disagree1

28 Jun 2017 13:20:01
Jonny: i don't think we will buy Meyer just to put that out there. Ox would be a great signing and i would prefer him over meyer any time of the day.

But Meyer is a CM/ CAM not a winger to clear things up. He had to play some games as a winger because a) Schalke have Goretzka, Bentaleb and Geis as their main CMs and b) Schalke has a problem on the wings with Konoplyanka who played like sh*t, Embolo beeing injured, Chupo beeing inconsistend and Caliguri not having a great time either.

Agree1 Disagree2

28 Jun 2017 19:07:24
Jackored - Simple really he's playing in a lesser league as a whole and in a worse team one that finished 10th last year so that's how he gets in.

Ojo for the record is a winger so Meyer would be in direct competition.

Like the above everyone is too quick to glamorise the foreign import and justify it somehow via price-tags its just wrong. Give the current acadamy graduates a chance or why bother having one and paying for one to run?

Agree2 Disagree0

28 Jun 2017 00:12:31
With all of the speculation surrounding Oxlade-Chamberlain joining, which I would very much welcome, does this mean players like ovie and gruijic are going to be considered surplus to requirements?

Big fan of both those players so just wondering where their futures lie?

Believable3 Unbelievable3

28 Jun 2017 05:51:50
I hope he's more likely to play on the wing if he comes in - we don't have as many natural wide options and we already have Coutinho, Llalana, Gini and Grujic in attacking midfield.

Ejaria I suspect is a couple of years away but Grujic should be getting regular game time IMO.

Agree9 Disagree0

28 Jun 2017 06:15:26
What a massive misjudged signing it would be to have those two leave.

Agree7 Disagree0

28 Jun 2017 08:36:33
We need more depth to the squad and the younger players aren't ready for champions league football. Klopp wants the ox to add depth to the squad with someone who is versatile and has a positive hard working attitude, and 25m is nothing by today's standards for a young versatile player. Klopp will get him playing the way he wants, and if it doesn't work out we should still be fine to sell him for a similar amount. Don't see why there's so much negativity, it would be nice to sign someone more quality but we can only sign who is available at this current time and wants to come to us.

Agree6 Disagree2

28 Jun 2017 10:10:11
I agree with you Danz however, my only issue is that Ox has not shown the game awareness and intelligence to play in Arsenal's team and has a poor record with them. Our system is not an easy one to play in both physically and tactically and you need tactical intelligence to play in it, something Ox is severely lacking. He said he sees himself as a CM. That ain't going to happen cos he is not fit to start over any of our CM's. Not even Grujic. There's a reason players like Benteke, Ibe, Allen and soon Marko and Moreno no longer/ will no longer play for us under Klopp. This is cos they can't hack it under Klopp's system. Now if Klopp thinks he can fix him then, I defer to him. I just don't see that happening BUT I'm open to being proved wrong.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Jun 2017 10:11:42
Think you nailed it Danz. Grujic I would say is more than ready to play though. We definitely need to beef out the squad that was plain to see last season with far less games.

Would be nice to see some more youngsters come through but at 23 the ox is very good business. Klopp has instilled so much belief in this squad be good to see what he can do with the ox.

He's addressing the wing issues. Let's just get Left Back sorted and I think we will all be a lot happier. Which I'm sure he will.

Agree1 Disagree0

28 Jun 2017 10:50:31
Well said Dan. I can totally see why klopp likes him, I'm well excited by the deal. I bet my reputation (which is pretty poor) that he will become An field legend.

Agree1 Disagree0

28 Jun 2017 11:01:18
I'm sorry but Brussels red is wrong. Ox has been brilliant for arsenal at times. If we're honest arsenal play nice football, yeah? And he has years of experience at the very highest level. And he's only 23! Like Dan said. he's versatile and klopp loves to interchange. £25 mil absolute bargain.

Agree3 Disagree1

28 Jun 2017 12:31:31
I'd imagine klopp has promised the owners it's ox who'll be the missing piece to win us the league, until he sets his sights on the next missing piece. Regardless I've no issue with the lad and I'll support all new signings and keep my fingers crossed we behave properly from here on out but I just feel we're not to far away from another troubling event.

Agree0 Disagree2

28 Jun 2017 17:01:44
Ox hasn't been the missing link to Arsenal winning the league so there's no reason to think that he'll suddenly make us into title winners 🙄.

Agree1 Disagree0

28 Jun 2017 18:04:43
Jonny, that is your opinion BUT you said it yourself that Ox has been good for Arsenal at times. If that is the case you are making then I fear for you. Why? He's been there for 5 seasons and played over 150 games for them and all you have to offer as a counter argument is that he's been brilliant at times? How many times? Sorry bro BUT you're going to have to do better than that to support your point.

Wijnaldum has played 2 years in the PL and the Ox is not in the same league as Wiji, nor in the same league as Hendo, Can, Lallana or even Grujic who is very talented and promising. His versatility does nothing for me cos he is a jack of all trades and master of none. Milner is more effective versatility than Ox BUT I wouldn't want him anywhere near CM which is where Ox sees himself. Having said all that, if Klopp thinks he can work with him then I'll fall back and let him prove me and the rest of us wrong, just like he did with Wijnaldum.
