This Coutinho deal seems to be taking some time to complete, any hitches? {Ed002's Note - Nothing but the obvious done to death reasons.}

28 Jan 2013 23:08:35
heard we may be looking at yann sommer of Basel or noberto neto of fiorentina as a potential replacement/understudy for reina in the summer any thoughts on them Ed's

Brayzilian {Ed002's Note - Nope.}

28 Jan 2013 22:54:29
Ed is it true that rodgers is loosing patience with skrtel wouldn't blame him he has been below par this season {Ed002's Note - I think there is a good chance that Skrtel will be leaving in the summer. Last summer Csonto told Associated Press that because of changes at the club his client wanted to know what the future held and said that there were enquiries being made of Skrtel from Italy. I understand there has been some recent tentative interest from two clubs in Russia and bids are expected to be made in the summer.}

Skrtel is only decent when agger is playing.

28 Jan 2013 23:31:09
Skrtel is good. I don't think he's been below par, am I missing something? Skrtel and Agger are the Liverpool central defence.... He's not at fault. It would be a big loss, he gets us goals as well, we just need some solidity on the sides and midfield...to give confidence

Ant

Which Russian clubs are interested in Skrtel, Ed? {Ed002's Note - Zenit and Kuban Krasnodar - and you can add interest from Fiorentina again.}

So could we see a player like Christopher Samba or Ashley Williams replacing Skrtel and partnering Agger?

29 Jan 2013 00:15:31
I have said it for years. Skrtel isn't good enough. Got bullied every time He played against drogba, got bullied agains benteke. Seems to me He cannot handle the bigger player. He is a good ball player unfortunately this isn't enough

Selling our best CM... This is a nonsense runout I am sorry to say...

Why this talk of skrtel leaving? last seasons player of the season, touted by city not so long ago, signed a new contract in the summer etc. Form hasn't exactly nosedived..or does brendan want someone more vocal?
geo

Cannot beleive what I read skrtel has been a rock along with agger, who the hell do we get to replace him and why should we let him go its beyond me .

Ed why are you talking rubbish yet again ? {Ed002's Note - Obnoxious trolls like you are why less and less information will get shared.}

I think Brendan's concern is something he has recently voiced, and that is a lack of leadership on the pitch. In the Norwich match, you could nearly hear the commentators for Carragher yelling, and we looked more calm and composed at the back. Compared to the Oldham game, I cannot remember one player using his voice to organise the defence during play or set pieces, not even the keeper. Skrtel is hardly the most vocal player and I don't think BR likes his style of play. He likes players who play the ball out the back, Agger is excellent, Carragher according to BR is one of the most technically gifted players at the club.

I can see us going after Ashley Williams in the summer. Swansea and Wales captain, he's that leader BR want. Strong defender, can play the ball and has an excellent partnership with a left footed CB. I can see it now.

Skrtel is a very good defender and I don't understand why some people on here want him gone, if we get 15 for him who could we go out and buy for that these days ?

BigD

This is more about Carragher's ego and getting a new contract then Skrtel being up to scratch. He had decent games against the mighty Mansfield and Norwich and right away paid clowns in the click like Aldridge, Smith, that blue cnut Dave Prentice ect use their coloumns to push for a new contract and the hatchet job started on Skrtel last week, much like the job they did on Enrique earlier in the season. I don't care if he marshall's the team, what is the manager and the team of coaches on the side for ? We've never need someone there just to shout before but we've created a niche for Carragher Have they cut poor Coates down yet ?
He was sh*te but he wasn't alone and it's grim the way he's been hung out to dry.
Arnold

For me Martin Skrtel has been an outstanding defender over the past few seasons and is currently one of the best (if not the best) central defenders in the Premier league.

Calling him one of the best defenders in the league is EXTREMELY far fetched. Skrtels and aggers set piece marking has been (for lack of a better word) abysmal!!) Too often they have been shrugged off the ball and neither understand the posession football rodgers wants they play 1, 2's toone another waiting for Joe allen to come and collect, and then sit back, instead of pushing forward giving Joe that extra option, by going just in front or wider allowing the wingbacks to push on.

If we can get 12-15 million for Skrtel i'd gladly sell there are MUCH better central defenders out there.

Thanks for sharing the info on Skrtel, Ed002. Much appreciated.

29 Jan 2013 16:01:00
Agree with arnold on this one.i firmly believe our best pairing is agger and skrtel don't see the problem there.just need some good back up on the bench.i believe our starting defence is the best in the league by far!

Carragher has still got it for a few more years.

Carragher and Agger simple

I can understand why, but to play BR system I would have thought Barcelona would be the blueprint, Skrtle/Puyol (am in no way comparing the two!) But a physical center back to compliment the passing defender seems logical to me.

That said Skrtle's passing can be erratic and puts other players under pressure, Dagger is much more assured on the ball. If he does leave I would love Toby Alderweireld to come to Anfield.

Thanks for sharing eds

28 Jan 2013 22:45:16
Hey Eds could you see Radja Nainggolan as a possible option to beef up our midfield? Thanks. {Ed002's Note - No.}

Leave Cagliari players in Sardinia.

28 Jan 2013 22:35:36
Ed's, just seen that Juventus are in talks with balotelli. If they so sign him, will this have any impact on their interest in Suarez?
As if they sign him they'll have balotelli, llorente, anelka along side giovinco, vuckinic, etc.

Cheers! {Ed002's Note - No, there interest in in one of three to add to Llorente. Nic A is only there thru teh summer.}

Ed is balotelli leaving city defo for milan or juventus and will city replace him this window sorry its not about lpool thanks {Ed002's Note - There is every chance he will sign for Milan.}

Balotelli signed for AC Milan.

28 Jan 2013 22:17:40
Eds fellow reds, one more quick question, has coutinho been here for medical today ? {Ed002's Note - Yes and no. He is in Liverpool for a medical tomorrow as I understand matters.}

He got his bloods taken today, results will be back in the morning, after which he will complete his medical. I expect a deal to be announced tomorrow around 5-6pm unless we wait to complete one more signing and show both at a press conference. MR

28 Jan 2013 22:04:46
Christopher Samba will likely sign for Liverpool before the window closes with coates most likely heading out, most likely on loan though, at 21 with ability to improve I doubt the club will want to sell him

I don't see it before the end of the Jan window but I actually don't think a return to the prem and joining Liverpool is far fetched, he's not enjoying it in Russia, he's been outspoken of his problems with racist chanting. Does he fit into BR's ball playing defenders role though? he can't hurt any more than skrtel or agger who keep getting shrugged off the ball by forwards

He's 28 nearly 29.......

He showed his true colours by going to russia, obviously just another mercenary following the money when he could have stayed in the prem, wouldn't want him near the club

29 Jan 2013 09:35:55
Rubbish. Where are we going to find the money to pay see Samba's ridiculuosly over priced wages. The people that come on this site with stupid predictions about who's coming and going are a bunch of xxxxxxx you know about as much as everyone else so stop trying to sound like you know something when you know FA.

Albert

28-29 is prime of your career.

28 Jan 2013 21:40:51
Hi eds,
is there any interest whatsoever in bringing in Shane Long.
Thanks in advance. {Ed002's Note - It won't happen in January.}

28 Jan 2013 21:32:55
Ed was wondering what the current situation was with Ever Banega of Valencia? We have been rumoured in past (not sure if genuine interest was there).

Think he could add a lot of Steel to our midfield. Do you know how long he has currently on his deal? For me a top player.

Jonesred. {Ed002's Note - If in the very unlikely circumstances that Banega leaves Valencia in January then Italy seems a likely destination with interest from Fiorentina. Inter Milan has had a long-term interest in the player but they will focus on players for other positions in January.}

Ever Banega is a very classy player with plenty of that Argie 'bite' and swagger, but he is very inconsistent. Great game, bad game, great game, great game, bad game on a constant loop! Maybe the current Valencia side have a part to play in that, who knows? I would love to see him in a red shirt, but I have to question that when each acquisition has so much expectation and pressure riding on it. I'd take him over Joe Allen right now.

28 Jan 2013 21:17:29
Just been informed that the possible loan signing will be mauro zarate, loan to buy deal pretty similar to what Carroll is on at west ham!

Ryan

28 Jan 2013 21:09:57
Hi Eds. DoYou think we might suprise everyone and go for Zarate? {Ed001's Note - I hope not.}

Lazy Lazy striker!

28 Jan 2013 19:27:09
Isaac Cuenca on loan is a real possibility... Just been told by a reliable source. PM

PM? Is that you Mr Cameron, glad to see you are keeping up with all the important issues nationwide....
redtilimdead

You mean you see it on twitter from

28 Jan 2013 19:08:43
Hi eds, I think there will be only one more signing after countinho when he comes wednesday!and it won't be ince...

Couthinho and Lampard.

28 Jan 2013 17:58:39
Hi eds and fellow reds,
Its been a while since I posted, as I have been away! i'm sure you are all intrigued as to what I know? I know I have got a few wrong in previous windows by prematurely posting hearsay but I now only post genuine activity from within the club! Well here goes, as we already know the coutinho deal is pretty much sewn up and this will be confirmed tomorrow afternoon! Ince will sign deadline day (guaranteed), as will butland! i'm also hearing the loan signing of jeffren is picking up pace again, so that could well happen! No more outs, although coates will push for a move this window but I believe it will now be the summer he moves on! Without any snags I deem this to be a successful window! Your welcome!

Hardy1892 ynwa

Well thanks Hardy, you've just stated what we've all know for the last 2 months..lol.

Please go away again, this time though don't come back

s

28 Jan 2013 19:18:36
so you told us exactly what Macca and the eds have been telling us for the past 2 weeks.. good job!

We are intrigued no more mate, we now know that you know feck all. Anyways, go read tomorrow's newspapers and come back with some more of inside info.

Guaranteed, that is a very definitive statement!

28 Jan 2013 17:49:24
Liverpool to go for cuenca on loan if ince deal is not completed in the next day.

intitiwetrust

28 Jan 2013 17:32:36
Hey eds, any idea on the contract situation with Ath madrids keeper Courtois? I know he is on loan from Chelsea do you think he would be a viable option in the summer if reina leaves? Has looked a very accomplished keeper this season and his age profile is ideal for the clubs owners {Ed002's Note - He won't be moving to Liverpool in the summer - but Barcelona are interested.}

Exciting times

Totally bogus. Torres already came out and said he was staying, said he'd sign a new contract. and 35m for Andy Carroll, you're having a laugh.

Love it.

Redfellar

I think you misunderstood. Torres is now worth 15 mil and that's 15mil more than AC is worth! ;-)

5uarezTimes

Glad you finally got the door of your time capsule open mate ;-)
gmil

Jesus, what is up with these people, do they seriously, honestly think people will believe them ? "He walked passed me" haha....Learn to spell mate before you spout rubbish, it does help

RD

I was thinking the exact same thing myself mate.

What has not being able to spell have anything to do wi a rumour

28 Jan 2013 13:59:53
Hy Eds.
U guys done fantastic job throughout the window and I appreciate it.
I just want to know do you expect coutinio deals will be done before ars game. And do you still think ince deal will go through as there is not much time before window closed. And any latest who lfc will sign on loan is it jeffern or sum1 else.
And what the latest on coates.
Thanx.
Plz do response. {Ed002's Note - I can't answer when it will be completed. There is nothing new with respect to Coates.}

28 Jan 2013 10:41:10
Hi eds, any info surrounding this apparent loan signing? We need to bring in an experienced head in the centre of the park, preferably somebody with physical presence. Essentially, we need to find a new Mascherano. {Ed002's Note - Nothing right now.}

100% right need a solid centre mid looked shocking until Stevie g came on yesterday

Totally agree, away from home in midfield we get bullied, stoke, Man U, Oldham spring to mind, diame at 3.5m would be a good buy, surely Brendan can see the problem

28 Jan 2013 18:46:22
victor wanyama is the answer, agewise, wageswise and most definetely ability wise, 10 million easy

Wanyama is worth a punt !

Just buy Mascherano he isn't playing at Barcelona.

Javier was awful, everytime he opens his gob your worrying about going down to 10 men!

28 Jan 2013 14:38:01
Liverpool still looking to sign West Broms SHane Long for around £10mill

10m down the drain

Shane you post this rumour all the time. Were not going to sign you . It dosent matter how many tines you post it.

According to reports in Italy, Philippe Coutinho's move to Liverpool is a done deal and the Brazilian will have a medical on Monday.

Inter are resigned to losing him, satisfied by Liverpool's offer of £8.5m (10m euros, plus 2.5m euros in bonuses) and aim to replace him with another Brazilian, Corinthians' Paulinho.

Great news. Will he play against city

28 Jan 2013 13:21:01
Hello Eds,
if Coates is sold then do you reckon we could go for Dede ?
real Quality player and would solve 2 problems CB and CDM and would roughly cost around 10 mil pounds wherein we should recieve atleast 6 mil pounds for Coates. {Ed002's Note - Manchester United, Inter Milan, Real Madrid, Fiorentina, Benfica and Roma have shown an interest in Vasco's Dede over the past couple of years. Recently AC Milan, Barcelona, Anzhi, Chelsea and Bayern Munich have been keeping a watching brief on the player in the months leading up to the end of the Brazilian season. A bid has been made by Corinthians although I understand it is not a destination the player would consider right now.}

There is no way we will now receive a fee for Coates ..... please live in the real world .

28 Jan 2013 13:15:04
For a physical presence in the middle would wanyama be available? If so for how much?

Thanks {Ed002's Note - Wanyama will not be moving to Liverpool.}

28 Jan 2013 14:34:46
For a physical presence in the middle, how about Lucas Leiva?

I would love wanyama he is a quality ball winner, something we need desperatley

Mascherano or Alonso deadline day!

28 Jan 2013 12:18:51
Thomas Ince seen doing skill school with Raheem Sterling outside of John Lennon Airport - medical due later today, transfer imminent. YNWA.

Did he catch a flight to JLA from Blackpool or are him and Raheem picking Coutinho up?

I suppose coutinho was watching them 2 haaa

Coutinho has just joined them for some keepie uppie!!

Amazing in this day and age that our players and staff are always spotted by people that don't own a mobile with a camera.

........and Heskey !!!

The skill school would not have lasted long with Sterling !!!Nearly19

Yes he is right I saw them to going to the depature lounge with suarez and gerrard

Raheem sent to pick him up was he ?

RD

Fly all the way from Blackpool did he.

Jeffren just txt me to tell you he's stuck in traffic be there in a min

Sterling going to Blackpool.

Sterling was clearly flying the plane while Coutinho was passing out Amaro Montenegro he picked up over in Italy.

- Logic

29 Jan 2013 12:39:15
LOOOOOOOL!! This is why I love LFC the banter between us fans is Great!

Love the banter - what banter that must be scouse humour i'm reading, it will always make me cringe when I hear it just not funny
and yeh iam scouse.

28 Jan 2013 12:14:34
coates looks set to leave Liverpool after yesterdays performance and a source I know claims we are looking to buy asmir begovic of stoke to replace riena as he is linked with barca and he is injury prone at the minute.

Rubbish, Begovic is going to the and maybe we should getting rid of about 6 other players and the manager if you are judging on yesterdays performance.

A source I know ? nice one !

We need Butland?

We all know Asmir Begovic will join man utd and we'll end up signing Butland for 8-10 million and then get rid of reina to Barca for 12-15 million. Jones was poor against Oldham and we need a new no2 gk as well. Forget Ince it aren't happening thanks to his person of a father.
.
In Rodgers We Trust

28 Jan 2013 11:30:47
Coutinho has just arrived at Liverpool John Lennon for medical
YNWA

Thought he`d be having it at Melwood !!

Has he picked coutinho up on his way haaa

Didn't realize we did medical there!!

leeb7red

Whats your source? nothing on any website I can find.

Fast tracking ? Having his medical at the airport ? Amazing what people can do nowadays !

He means arrived at airport ahead of medical! read it

28 Jan 2013 15:19:05
so lets get this straight coutinho has come to Liverpool but john is having a medical?is coutinho having his after or....?

Great news!

28 Jan 2013 10:44:34
Jonjo Shelvey had talks with Brendan Rodgers this morning asking for a transfer.... Shelvey is frustrated at being over looked and Rodgers has approved the move has he's already got replacements coming in..... A statement from the club will be put out today.

I can only assume they've had a lover's tiff

You can't argue with his heart and effort, but he would never be Liverpool quality imo. So best for all that he leaves. Saying that there are a few others who shouldn't be far behind him!

5uarezTimes

What a load of rubbish.

Yes because the club always release statements about stuff like that eh! Rodgers rates Shelvey and he won't be going anywhere!

Please let this be true. I think he should be a bin man not a footballer.

Id be extremely shocked if it were true as Shelvey will be the one to replace Gerrard at the club, Shelvey is a very good player its just a shame that he likes to play the attacking midfield role when we have Gerrard already there.

BigD

Shelvey is a great footballer for all those that don't thinks so I tell take one more look.
Remember when Lucas didn't perform? He was awful but got a trust from rafa and grew way more than anyone predicted.

Hoping that this story is just BS.
I ( as many others ) was under the impression that Shelvey would one day be the successor to Gerrard. Roy Hodgson described him as the closest thing to Gerrard. For those that reckon he should be a bin man, or that he couldn't leave soon enough, remember he is still raw, pretty much how stevie was at that age

I can see no discernible talent in Shelvey at all-let him go. Though having said that, I can't imagine the club releasing information like that.
Learpholl

If this is true I will love you forever... shelvey is not Liverpool class

I think he'll be staying. Great prospect - young, passionate, with heart and doesn't gripe if he's benched. He's got the grit we need going forward (as Brendan might say). Look at Mansfield, Stoke and Oldham...

Too many light weights coming through (sorry Ed002), but once Carra and Gerrard start to move on, we'll be needing Jon-Jo. Liked Stirling's comment about knowing that Stevie's looking out for him, but he can't do it forever...

Raised Eyebrow

If that is true Rodgers should resign. Our performance level always improves when JJ comes on and he is far more effective than Allen.
CR

28 Jan 2013 13:15:57
It's not true.... He loves it at Liverpool and would never ask for a transfer.

I'm pretty certain that one of the first things Rodgers did when he joined the club was to tie Shelvey down to a long term contract and rates him highly. How anyone cannot see the talent of this lad is a moron. Probably the same band of people who think that we should bring Torres back

It's not true this is some prime arse rubbish right here, Jonjo is a great attacking midfielder and I'm sick of the amount of naysayer LFC fans there are these days.

Rome wasn't built in a day and we're replacing tyranny with a lasting legacy it takes time.

Jonjo will come good as will the raft of other younger players, you will all eat your words and we will win again on the long term, again and again.

Its worth getting behind not trying to topple with negativity, we have to have patience and faith in our players, manager and long term ambitions.

Jonjo Shelvey is class, he's still only 20 which a lot of people seem to forget and he already has over 40 Premier League appearances which says it all about the lads ability and potential. Benitez saw his potential and Hodgson, Dalglish and now Rodgers have all stuck by him and saw fit to play him. Anyone who says he's not good enough have no idea about football in my opinion.

MarkB.

Didn't he say recently that he would even play LB if asked to, because he just loves it at Liverpool? Amazing how fast it could change!

Chaki

There's some deluded people on this website. Either they never seen a game of ball or they just don't have a clue.

What a load of bull mate. Shelvey has played more games this season alone than in all his previous seasons for LFC combined, so obviously Rodgers does see something in him!!

I was wondering about JJ what had happened to him. He has just signed a new contract. So I doubt we will be selling him but a loan spell for the rest of the season would do him good. Maybe back to Blackpool as part of the Ince deal?

Interesting rumour! Shelvey out and Diame in, I think that would be a touch.

What a load of rubbish... This THE day after he said 'i'd play anywhere for Liverpool even if it means playing left back' and said how honoured he is to be with us....

Give the lad a chance ! He's going to be a star for years to come. Brendan will sit him down and tell him all he needs to hear.

Anyone who says JJ should go know's nothing about football, he has a great future hopefully with Liverpool, I would have preferred to have seen him playing yesterday instead of Allen, at least our midfield would have had a bit more bite about it, until Gerrard came on we were very weak in the middle and Rogers should have realised how they were going to come at us but he obviously thought that our forwards were going to over run them which they would have done if we could have got the ball to them in the first half. we were just bullied off the ball at the back and Coates was especially caught lacking.

I can't believe the utter garbage I read on here, shelvey is the best young British talent we got, and didn't cost the earth unlike Alan, Hedo etc, Shelvey future England captain!!!

Shelvy reminds me of the young stevie g star of the future so supposed fans should write on a back of a postage stamp what they really know about a player or football for that fact #morons

Shelvey has played loads this season.

Shelvey is only 20 and has played lots of games.

Henderson future Liverpool and England captain.

28 Jan 2013 22:37:17
I'm a relative and he is going nowhere..... You'd have to drag him kicking and screaming away from Anfield. He loves it.

Mate of mine in lancs thinks he's off to bpool in the ince deal as we carnt match their valuation but bet their chairman won't pay his wages

30 Jan 2013 00:01:36
Just told you he's going nowhere, Your mate in Lancs has got it very wrong.

28 Jan 2013 10:01:10
hey eds, considering birmingham's current position is there a chance of Liverpool making a move for butland?
- RED INDIAN {Ed001's Note - there is a chance, Brum have to sell players, but I am not expecting a move, not the way he has played this season.}

28 Jan 2013 09:40:47
Hi ed, I work at John Lennon airport on security, and have just seen the passenger list, inbound flight has coutinho on it arriving about midday, this isn't on departures list as its a signature flight. Just wondering if you know how long a contract he'll have. Did you say another 2 signings by Thursday? Ince and ??

Cheers

Classic, absolute classic. My uncle's friend is picking him up outside in his strecth limo to take him to melwood, fancy that !

This makes me feel really good about airport security

Does he have Coutino on his passport?

Not the best move you have ever made, that's if you really do work at JL airport.

I'm getting you sacked data protection

Couthinho is in Liverpool. Might change his mind after yesterday.

28 Jan 2013 09:19:02
It's a shame we've got no interest in Gary medal he's tough as hell would be a great option in the middle, would be cheap to I suspect.

Square tomato

Same here. I just hope we look at a Quality CDM back-up in summer and a reakky strong and commanding CB to replace coates.(Diakate/Zouma)

28 Jan 2013 08:07:26
Good morning eds, Hope you're well.

Do you know if we have scouted zieler recently? And do we have any interest in him? A friend of mine in the German media said we scouted him months ago but I was curious if there was anything more recent. Thanks ed

Nevada {Ed002's Note - I am not aware of any interest Nevada.}

27 Jan 2013 23:45:03
Coutinho will be announced tomorrow and Ince will be a red again by Wednesday. I also understand a late bid will be made for Ashley Willams if Coates has departed the club by then.

"If you don't support us when we lose or draw, then don't support us when we win"

"If you don't support us when we lose or draw, then don't support us when we win"
-------------------------

Well said that man !

Dan

I don't agree that we would look to Williams, he is 28/29 Swansea captain plus there best player along with mitcu.
They will be looking for between 15 and 20 million. There are better options available.

I think coate s should have gone out on lone at the start of the window, with a call back option.

Allen, Henderson, wisdom, Stirling, shelves Robinson are the future.

In Gerard, Rodgers, skirtel, Lucas, agger ; pepe, Johnson, Suarez I trust.

KUMBER

I cannot see Williams leaving Swansea before the Cup Final, why would he pass up that ? In the summer yes but not in this window

Yes we will keep quiet and let an incompetent manager drown our beloved club. Time we stood up and said Rodgers out.

Yesterday was embarrassing. Did they really think Oldham would just lie down. our centrebacks were a joke. Can now understand why they want williams. we are no where near Swansea.

Rodgers out! don't be so stupid! Rodgers will need time I believe that everything will come good and the plan he has is the way we have to go. We are supporters, support our team its easy to support the team when we are winning every week and lifting cups. Some of the fans need to listen to our clubs anthem.....when you walk through a storm hold your head up high..............YNWA!

It is hard to support a manager who makes glaring mistakes and then blames the kids for them.
I will always support the team but Rodgers does not look like a manager who can win things to me. Statements like the one he made on the club web site will not help to get the players behind him. {Ed001's Note - you don't think those kids who let us down, and make no mistake they did let us all down, needed to be told so? It is about time managers stopped pandering to them and told them so. I don't see what the problem is? This is a bunch of kids who have had it easy, with no one bringing them down to earth at any point, being paid big money by the club, it is time to accept the responsibility. It is make or break time for players, they either respond in the right way or they go elsewhere and we bring in players who will respond in the right way. Being too soft on them is the mistake happening at Villa right now, that is why Bannan is off drinking in Glasgow after games, when he should be home recovering from the game.}

28 Jan 2013 10:11:15
Everyone is allowed an opinion valid or not ! I fully back Rodgers however his persistence in playing Allen is becoming increasingly frustrating. Whoever Allen was playing alongside at Swansea obviously made him look good !

'They' wanted Fergie out too remember and look what happened there. Who is to say Brendan won't do the same with us!

Keith

I back Rodgers entirely, but he should take the blame as much as the kids for yesterday. Who decided to play with 3 & half strikers (Sterling's the half) and no real protection in front of Robinson??

In that first half we played a 4-2-4 formation, if he does that against Man see they'll rip us apart!

I'm a big BR supporter. I was very worried at our team selection and felt that it was very lightweight defensively. BR needs to hold his hands up and admit he made a mistake. As he did in first half v man yoo. I like that he changes things quickly when he realises that they are not working. Sadly yesterday it was too little too late.two steps forward one back, but we are getting there Rafa made a similar mistake in the fa cup in 2005. We won the fa cup a year later, as well some other tin pot in may of 2005.

Erleichda!

Who ever posted the "Rodgers out" comment on here is a person! The team is progressing an we have a great young squad! The FA cup is always full of shocks for every team an unfortunately it was our turn yesterday! It's easy to moan when things go wrong but that's football. Constructive criticism is a good thing don't just shout rubbish an get on our teams back. That does nobody any favours!

Rodgers out? Are you joking?

Ok, the side was a bit lightweight yesterday, but the 11 he put out SHOULD have beaten that Oldham side. You can't blame him for the lack of passion/appetite from the players yesterday whatsoever.

Do you honestly expect a manager to come in, win every single game and be winning trophy after trophy straight away? If you do then you have no idea about the game of football.

If you're going to be a boo boy and not back the manager or the players then do us all a favour and start supporting Chelsea.

Rodgers Out? I am sorry but its the people making moronic and knee jerk calls like that, who we need out, The starting X1 That Rodgers sent out their last night was good enough on paper to win that game, Too many player never got out of 2nd gear Coates was just awful Robinson was wasteful with the ball Jones created further panic with his flapping. we needed him to command his box which he did not, that would have instilled confidence into the CB's due to Coates constantly being beaten in the air or with pace Skrtel had twice the work to do. Please do not blame the boss the 11 player on the pich were more than capable and let themselves AND the boss down, I am pleased to hear BR slate them and not say they played well when they clearly did not, why lie to the press and make himself look stupid?

Robinson showed yday he needs a season long loan. Allen, sterling and robo should never of started yday. Sterling Should also be sent out on a season loan or at least the rest of the season maybe Blackpool or hearts are lookin a few more lfc players

Couthinho yes. Ince no. Williams no way.

Robinson was disgraceful yesterday. Terrible swearing at Suarez.

Loyalty is one thing blind faith is another, it is the managers fault if he cannot put 11 players on the pitch who have the desire to play. This is Liverpool for gods sake.

Jones, Coates, Robinson, Allen, Borini should be nowhere near the first 11 - Is Borini the worst ever LFC buy? {Ed001's Note - judging by your previous posts, you seem to think Carroll is a fantastic footballer, so I won't be taking any notice of any judgements you make of players.}

I started this Rodgers out debate. I am 58 years old who has supported LFC all my life and will do so for the rest of my life. I get up at 3 am to watch some games due to time difference and some I stay up till 3 am (like Oldham game). Please don't make a mockery of the word Loyalty. Just because I feel that BR is drowning us with his inexperience and glaring mistakes that I am disloyal. A good manager would have kept the comments about youngsters behind the closed doors. Just watch the documentary Being Liverpool and agree that it should have been named being Brendan Rodgers. I also beg to differ with ed001 about his comments on Andy Carolll. AC may not be the best player in the league but we needed him as plan be in games like Oldham. He can hold the ball upfront and can cause havoc. The only reason BR shipped him out is because he is out to prove that Kenny was wrong in whatever he did. I am proud to repeat Rodgers out. You all need to troll the other blogs and you will find that this momentum is gathering pace.

Inter president massimo moratti has confirmed on Inter website that Coutinho is going to lfc and wishes him all the best. So doesn't matter if paulinho signs for inter or not. Work permit permitting he will be an lfc player.

Ynwa

What he said is "There are certain opportunities that should be taken, sometimes players are able to get more playing time, and so I think it could be a great opportunity for Coutinho and a deal that might work out well for us. Does Paulinho cost too much, or is it something that could actually come to fruition? There's no doubt that he costs too much. Whether it could come to fruition is something we'll see in the next few days." No mention of Liverpool

Moratti says there is an opportunity for Coutinho, he doesn't say he is taking it. Hopefully we will know for sure soon.

Hope Coutinho does not read the club web site. Certainly not the sort of thing you want a young future star to see.

Im afraid this is him trying to sell Coutino on Southampton bc they have agreed to pay a higher transfer fee which Inter need to complete their other deal. Coutino himself may be leaning towards LFC, however that doesn't mean much if no deal is available from us to back it up as we saw with the Dempsey saga. I hope our owners don't screw this one up bc this kid could be a star for us and we shouldn't risk him changing his mind and agreeing to the other offer. Just pay them and lock it up already...azkop

Hey Eds, hopefully you can answer this question. Apparently we had officials in Austrialia looking at Marco Rojas and he had a very good game. Do you see us signing him or do you only think we will get him if the Ince deal or Coutinho does not work out?
Thanks {Ed001's Note - I don't expect him to sign either way.}

Hi eds and fellow reds.
Just wanted to know if any team is definitely in for coates as he's absolutely awful.
Thanks an hope the season ends well {Ed001's Note - there is interest in him from some European teams. One bad performance won't make much difference to that.}

28 Jan 2013 05:54:24
One bad performance?? He's not made 1 good performance!!

The Cobra

Ye will totaly agree with that coates hasn't played 1 good game for us lets just get shut and buy some quality we all understand money is tight but come on we buy brendons blue eyed boy for 15 mill he is crap borini bin injured most of season so far and a lot of players just haven't stood up and been counted what happened to players who wanted to play for the club and would sweat blood now its all just money orientated I mean even carra and gerrard shook there heads when oldham scored there second goal come on fsg we need quality not quantity

I am with the Ed. He is not awful, he had no mid field in front of him yesterday and was no worse than Skrtle and better than Allen and Borini who both ran about a lot but achieved nothing.

Its not every day you come up against a 6.6 striker especially one that is allowed climb on your back for extra height at least we can concentrate on europa and league try yield some funds back for fsg.we haven't deserved a trophy thus far.but I do believe we deserve fourth and a decent run in europa.the most dissapointing for me about the loss yesterday was the lads have to be picked up before arsenal game everytime a team gets knocked back it gets harder to pick them up and convince them to give it all.the whole team had a bad game but I thought allen showed good will and strength hopefully he can push on.sterling was the worst player in a red shirt the gaurantee of a place has done him no favours bench him for a while.redness

hi eds, do Liverpool have any interest in angelo ogbonna. The guys a beast and is just what we need in the team. {Ed001's Note - I wouldn't get your hopes up of a move in January.}

What he means is "he's good on FIFA."

Just heard that Coates has played his last game today and will be leaving in the window. I think this is a big mistake if we let him go he is young and has talent you can't just expect him to come in for one game and play the best game ever. I think he needs a loan move somewhere where he will be playing every week so he can come back with some experience and make a break into the team.

I second this option.

FowlerGod.

I agree to a certain extent but he is too slow and even though he is young he makes too many simple mistakes. sell him on while we can still get a good price for him

Pace is'nt everything, but he does 'nt seem to have learned from the mistakes he makes, and no amount of coaching will help him....Nearly19

He is terrible and should never play for us again was battered against a league 1 striker, clear off to Europe

Get rid not good enough for Liverpool

If Coates is not good enough neither is Rodgers or a lot of the players who were involved yesterday. What about Jones ? No one calling him, why pick on Coates.

He is not particularly slow and you don't become an International player by being awful. He is just not what we expect to see over here and he has not been given a chance by our buck passing manager, BR.
Yesterdays conditions were awful and he had no support or cover thanks to BR's tactical cock ups.
However I think it would be in his best interest to join a Spanish club where his undoubted talent would be appreciated.
CR {Ed023's Note - Bad positioning nothing to do with anything? No matter what league you're playing in if you don't know how to cover your fellow center back and also full backs you won't go far. BR didn't get anything wrong tactically bar the end when he failed to instruct a center back to go up top for a target to aim at}

Most level headed post re: Coates.

Give the guy a chance, he's young loan him out, in time he will become a quality player.

Good Coates shocking toady!

Coates and Jones out. Butland in

Hi Ed's,

Couple of questions please..

Coates - based upon what I have read here it would appear that this January would be the time for him to leave, however that would've been a risk playing him today, do you think he will go this window of it is more likely he will go in the summer?

One of the Ed's confirmed we had a 33% sell on for Insua, do we know how much he is costing A Madrid?

Many thanks - I think I'll give the banter page a few days before looking on their lol

Hoola {Ed002's Note - I really can't say when Coates will go, but he will. Liverpool might get around £1.2M.}

Thanks Ed - much appreciated as always :o)

1.2 million WOW that would be a bargain for someone.
CR {Ed019's Note - 1.2M received for Insua mate}

1.2 m we paid 6m

Hi eds was just wondering if you know any keepers being lined up for the summer ? Yous have said yous expect reina to leave in the summer so i'd imagine rogers would have a replacement in mind ! Also courtois has said he expects to go on loan to an engish club next year would be brilliant if he replaced reina {Ed002's Note - Nothing is decided about Courtois with Chelsea right now.}
