Ed002 I have seen a few reports flying around tonight (yes notably twitter) about Leon goretzka close to agreeing a pre contract with lfc for next season can you confirm or deny this for me? Or could you give us an update as who looks most likely destination for him?
Many thanks.

Believable0 Unbelievable1

{Ed002's Note - It would be illegal. If Liverpool have spoken with the player and are about to sign an agreement it will mean a complaint to FIFA by Schalke. Plus some on here told me he had signed weeks ago?}

29 Dec 2017 08:25:00
But surely Ed002 this must go on through third parties not affiliated to either clubs. I mean even with other clubs and players not just Liverpool etc. I understand the “legal” process how players are approached but I can’t believe for a second that every deal is done legitimately in its infancy. There’s too much money and greed involved these days for that to be the case. I understand Klopps illegal approach to VVD but surely they just caught with their hands in the cookie jar and this kind of thing happens all the time under the radar.

Agree1 Disagree1

{Ed002's Note - Of course other clubs have acted illegally over the years - but as you know Liverpool are still bottom of the pile in terms of professionalism and acting illegally as has been explained over and over. They are serving a ban and still have a complaint on file with the premier league. 18 months ago two clubs wrote to Liverpoolo (one copying in their own FA and the other their own FA and FIFA) warning Liverpool about illegal approaches for players. The owners have had to twice trail slime to apolgise to Premier League clubs to avoid charges. Let it go and move on.}

29 Dec 2017 14:02:19
We're bottom of the pile in professionalism yet other elite clubs have no problem dealing with us. Please can you tell me who else has had these complaints over illegal approaches because it happens a lot of clubs but you don't talk about that as you only want to bash Liverpool.

Agree4 Disagree1

{Ed002's Note - There are two on going investigations regarding illegal approaches with FIFA at present. In the UK, Liverpool are serving a ban already as you know and have a further complaint sitting on file. They avoided an illegal case regarding a child by throwing money at it to make it go away as well. Manchester City escaped any punishment and were found not be guilt of any wrongdoing in the matter of Garré - although they have also been unprofessional in the past and have been castigated by me. The last case in England in respect of an illegal approach (for Nottingham Forest's Jamaal Lascelles) resulted in a £45K fine as previously the club had behaved well. At the time I castigated them as I would any other club. So it does get discussed on other clubs pages but cretins like you just continue to whine and demonstrate your total lack of knowledge of the game.}

29 Dec 2017 15:34:25
I can't argue with that. Cheers for the detailed reply. I never knew about Lascelles.

Agree1 Disagree2

{Ed002's Note - Yes, Everton learned their lesson. Sorry for being so abrupt.}

Papers say Juventus would consider giving us Pjaca if we sold them Can in the January Window, any truth to this and any particular reason we would want Pjaca?

Believable0 Unbelievable2

{Ed002's Note - I am sure Juve would be more thappy to give him to Liverpool to compensate for January move. Is he back from his ACL injury yet?}

28 Dec 2017 22:00:28
We don't need a striker.

Agree2 Disagree1

28 Dec 2017 23:09:15
We’ll swap them for Dybala.

Agree15 Disagree0

29 Dec 2017 04:36:15
The same Pjaca who is injured and cannot get a game at Juve when fit? Sounds like Juve are looking for a place to dump Pjaca ASAP and they think we would be stupid to consider their offer.

I’ve seen some reports today that we Have agreed a fee with Basel for Akanji, not sure how true it is, could one of the eds tell me if it is.

Believable3 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - I am a bit out of touch sorry, last I heard we wanted him but they wanted to hold onto him until the summer and we just were going to be kept aware of developments, such as them changing their mind and deciding to sell or other clubs making a bid that Basel were happy to accept. In other words, if he was going to go anyway in Jan, we would jump in. I have no idea if someone else has jumped in or they have decided they need funds so will sell him, though there is a lot of interest from Germany and Italy in him.}

28 Dec 2017 18:31:27
Ed1, what do you make of him in terms of current ability and potential? I cannot claim to say I have seen much of him but excited if its indeed true we have agreed a deal as it show Klopp's patience with our central defenders has run out. All that is now left is Mignolet with Karuis coming in until summer to see how he fairs and my Xmas is complete.

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - I have only seen him play a couple of games in highlight form mate. He is very highly rated, by people whose opinion I trust usually, so I would expect him to be very good.}

28 Dec 2017 18:58:20
Ed 1 from what I’ve heard it’s a deal for the summer.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - that would make more sense. They did say they were open to selling in the summer.}

28 Dec 2017 19:23:59
Apparently it was on his wiki saying currently playing for lfc from Dec 28th 2017 . But it's since been removed . So the plot thickens ;)

Agree0 Disagree1

28 Dec 2017 19:36:49
Thanks Ed1 if your connects rate him highly and you trust them that's all I need to hear, let's hope we get the deal done and annouced for January or for the summer.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - I hope they are right if we are signing him!}

28 Dec 2017 18:47:28
Hope so looks the part.

29 Dec 2017 23:29:09
Lightly rosterd, Anyone can go onto Wikipedia and edit a page so that doesn't mean anything really.

Apparently Liverpool have signed Akanji from FC Basel, any truth to this? Apparently he's very highly rated in the Swiss league.

Believable7 Unbelievable2

28 Dec 2017 18:10:00
Any truth ed.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool as far as I know have no ability to sign players before the transfer window opens.}

28 Dec 2017 18:56:50
Can you tell us a bit about him please ed?

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - He is a CB doing well this season liked by sides from Germany and England. Perhaps not PL ready but one for the future.}

28 Dec 2017 14:21:42
ed 002, is there any truth to a report that we are scouting monaco's fabinho with a view to a summer move. him and keita as our holding cms would be beautiful. de vrij and van dijk behind. pipe dream or reality?

Believable0 Unbelievable3

{Ed002's Note - No, I am not aware of Liverpool scouting Fabinho. There is declared interest from a couple of sides and Manchester City May also look to him. But nothing from Liverpool.}

28 Dec 2017 14:36:42
thanks happy new year to you and the other eds.

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - And you.}

28 Dec 2017 15:37:09
Hi Ed’s, in reply do you think there is any interest in De Vrij since VVD? Cheers, have a Happy New Year!

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - It won't be clear until January 1.}

28 Dec 2017 17:29:27
Cheers Ed002. Have a happy new year!

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - And you. thanks.}

Apparently the club is looking at Butland or Alisson of Roma as potential GK recruitments. Alisson is really good from what I have seem of him in the UCL but on the other hand, Im really disappointed Karius or Ward may never get a fair crack at LFC. Really hoped Klopp would give Karius an extended run to see how he does as the talent is clearly there.

Believable10 Unbelievable8

28 Dec 2017 06:20:10
I really wish Ward could get his chance or atleast go out on loan.

Agree36 Disagree0

28 Dec 2017 08:08:43
Butland is a great shout and I hope it comes off, he is a personal favourite and more realistic than a Donnaruma let's say, put Gomez next to Van Dijk and let them build a partnership/ triangle, Gomez is going to make some mistakes but he needs to learn and I hope he gets the chance to grow in that position.

I am over the moon with the VVD signing as central defence has been a problem for us for a number of years. However goalkeeper has been an issue for even longer. If we were to bring in a top keeper (highly unlikely now) in Jan then I think it's a straight shoot out between us and Chlsea (expecting them to spend in Jan) for 2nd. If we continue with Mig then top 4 will be down to who can mess up the least (similar to last season when us, Arsenal and Utd made it look they were trying their best to throw it away every time they had the opportunity) . For me just putting Ward in goal would increase those chances of gaining automatic CL qualification for next season.

Agree8 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - liverpool are the second best side in the league jayden and with the signing of VVD and keita i fully expect them to challenge for the title next season if they bring in a decent cat..

28 Dec 2017 09:26:06
Apparently trapp is of interest aswell have you heard out ed?

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - he has been mentioned adam but thats about it at the moment mate..

28 Dec 2017 10:27:50
Thanks ed.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - no worries mate..

28 Dec 2017 10:48:08
If we were to sign Trapp after the VVD signing then there is a genuine chance that we can challenge for the Champions league this year. Our attack would frighten anyone in the competition and with a potential back line of Trapp Clyne Gomez/ Matip VVD and Robertson we could have a chance to keep most teams out at the other end. Albeit I do not know whether Trapp is cup tied.

Agree2 Disagree6

28 Dec 2017 12:58:44
I can't say I've watched Trapp but reputationally he didn't sound like a top class keeper. I'd prefer we do what we did with VVD, identify the best possible guy and pay what's needed for him.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Getting the money from where?}

28 Dec 2017 13:32:49
Sorry ed, I'm assuming we'll have the money to make at least one major signing this summer, I'd use it on a goalkeeper.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - and what about FFP and the wages? Liverpool need to be fiscally responsible and will continue to spend but that spending cannot simply be “what is needed”.}

28 Dec 2017 13:35:35
Coutinho of course ed002. Money has to come from somewhere.

Agree2 Disagree0

28 Dec 2017 13:43:26
We are continually told Coutinho wants out. If or when he is sold the transfer fee will eclipse the VVD signing. Thus putting us well within FFP.

Agree2 Disagree1

{Ed002's Note - It really doesn’t work quite like that.}

28 Dec 2017 15:25:44
Not a fan of Butland too many injuries and I don’t think he holds that much ability. I’ve not watched much of Trapp, Oblak would be a no go but I’d be cheeky and try for Donnarumma, the fans dislike him they think he’s bleeding the club dry, he doesn’t seem to be happy there, Real Madrid have other targets, no other top teams seem to be desperate for a goalkeeper? Worth a shot.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - he wants to leave but his manager is the same man as Balotelli so I am not sure it would be a realistic option, sadly.}

28 Dec 2017 15:07:06
Ed2, this raises the question, are we sailing close to the wind on FFP?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - It will be clearer in February when the accounts come but on wages yes.}

28 Dec 2017 15:08:48
The financial fair play I know little about so just a question to Ed2 if I may (apologies for lack of knowledge) but is the FFP a seasonal thing? does it go on what we earn? so for example, if Manchester City went and won the Premier League and Champions league which would obviously bring in more revenue, would they have more to spend on players/ wages? Hope that makes sense, I have never quite understood how it works.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - It is based on what clubs earn but not all earnings and expenditure are releavant - and it is a three year rolling period.}

28 Dec 2017 15:38:18
How are city and psg able to spend what they like with ffp, I thought it was same for all and not only if you've rich owners.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - They can't spend what they like - they have to abide by the rules.}

28 Dec 2017 17:31:20
Interesting thanks Ed2.

Agree1 Disagree0

28 Dec 2017 22:03:53
From memory its at least partially based on your revenue. As in the more money you make, the more you can spend. So if say we were to get a whacking great shirt deal from Adidas then we could spend more in the market under FFP. Is this correct Ed002?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Not really.}
