I see there are some rumours on here linking eljero elia with liverpool. Never heard of him before but just watched some vids on you tube and if he signs for LFC then no s**t he will be massive.

Forget young, downing or johnson plesase kenny get this guy. He's the frigging nuts.

Also been heavily linked with diego of werder bremen so could be a strong midfield next year

27 May 2011 22:03:02
Chris Mavinga - I always thought he would be a quality lb who could also fill in at cb when needed. So basically we are in need of a lb between 28-30 age bracket so Mavinga could be slowly introduced. Please post on the rumours page Ed...

liverpool have made personal contact with elia after permission from hamburg, they are discussing a contract worth 55,000 a week and fee will be 12m

100% Fact. Definite bid of £9 or £10 million gone in for Gervinho. (Not from me, from Scott on RAWK who knows his stuff but is unsure of the exact figure!)

Does anyone really think Adam and Enrique are much better than the players we already have? Personally if Liverpool were to sign these two and waste that money that could be used on other players I think they will be taking steps backward and not forward toward top 4 or the league

27 May 2011 20:48:04
what about the transfer of elia. is he coming on loan or on permanent or just sticking with hamburg? your opinions Ed?
{Ed013's Note - There is a possibility of this deal as we have been linked with him since January and he wants the move but his club do not want to sell him}

Liverpool will most likely sign Friedel (free), Jose Enrique (for some stupid reason) (£8m), Dann (£8m), Marveaux (free), Mata (£22m) and Downing (£14m).
Total- £52m

----------Suarez-----Carroll----------
-------------------------------------------
Mata-------------------------Downing
----------Lucas-----Gerrard----------
-------------------------------------------
Enrique----------------------Johnson
---------Dann-----Carragher--------
-------------------------------------------
------------------Reina------------------

Friedel, Robinson, Skrtel, Kelly, Wisdom, Flanagan,
Marveaux, Meireles, Spearing, Shelvey, Kuyt, Pacheco

We should make plenty of money from sales and so get a massively improved squad (except for Enrique) for relatively cheap. I still feel that there is a striker missing as Kuyt should play out wide and Pacheco might leave but we don't seem to be after one. Benzema would be perfect because, as people have said before, we would then have a perfect range of strikers with a drop off striker, a target man and then a player who can play on the shoulder of the defence and whose only purpose is to get 20-odd goals a season. Then we have Morgan who is rising the ranks and he can be slowly introduced into the first team. Thoughts Ed?

I get the vibe that your not a huge fan of Enrique?

He did say he wanted to join Liverpool not too long ago. From what I have heard we are very interested in him and are quite close to signing Downing and Mata.

We've held 'positive' talks with Mata and his father, so theres a chance there. Also read this 'Liverpool are putting all their mite behind signing Eden Hazard' but as the Ed points out i doubt we'll sign him and he'll stay at Lille as he even says himself he can still improve there and that will help him

It appears Liverpool have decided on Charlie Adam rather than James McArthy.

Also it appears that Manchester United have won the race to sign Ashley Young and Liverpool have turned to other targets for the wing such as Juan Mata and Stewart Downing.

hey eds , wel done on contraospot on as usual , on the mcCarthey rumour kk has identified him as steve g replacement 3 yrs ago and wants this deal to happen! McCarthey is fed up with martinez giving exuses for missing ireland games.James wants to play every international game and last weekend told wigan he see's no futre there , the player also knows kk will push him to play international football and will aid him in every way.Now to rumour i heard from source within villa , i said this in march aswell downing and delfounso are players we are interested in not young.I think izaguirre will sign really hope not.I would be happy if we got downing , dann , mccarthey , perrotti and maybe lavezzi (nt sure if he available)

Heard from a very reliable source and good friend that Liverpool are very interested in Almerias 5"4 winger Pablo Piatti. He is 22 years old and fast and excellent at dribbling.

as a spurs fan, and i think i would speak for many!, i wouldn't lose much sleep IF he went to you or any club for that matter! although his final ball HAS improved its still not good enough! to be honest i think he has become scared of repeating his injury? if he has time to think about it more often than not he will not try to go past his man! one other thing i have heard is that he has/ will turn liverpool down!

Accordng to reports Liverpool are very close to landing Wigan Athletic midfielder James McCarthy.

The 20-year-old has impressed for the Latics in a season where they narrowly avoided dropping out of the Premier League.

Only a victory at Stoke City on the final day of the season secured the club's top flight status.

With Chelsea reportedly interested, Liverpool are moving quickly to land the starlet who only a year ago was turning out for Hamilton Academicals.

"It is 90 per cent done, all sides now seem to accept it is going to happen and it's a matter of everyone trying to get the best deal, " a source told Goal.com.

The deal is believed to be around £10 million.

ed are the rumours true about mcarthy , cause we have jonjo , lucas, spearing and connor codey, i think it will be a waste £10 million {Ed002's Note - They seem to be.}

So ed do you think we actually have had advanced talks with wigan or do you think there is just some interest from Liverpool?

{Ed002's Note - I don't know of any "advanced talks".}

Liverpool are in the boxseat with a bid around £10m, but it seems wigan like this attention and are asking closer to £20m for a player they only paid £1m for.what do they put in them pies?

I am starting to think if we did buy Aguero it would be a waste of money, We could buy Negredo for less than half his price and also buy Lavezzi too, Two excellent attacking players for the price of one, Lavezzi can play on the wing aswell as a second striker or main striker. What do you people think?

{Ed002's Note - Pastore may well be the most expensive transfer of the summer. I am not sure "good value" should be used in the same sentence.}

do you no wot price bracket he would be in? do you no if there is intrest?

Kopite karl

{Ed002's Note - Pastore may well be moving this summer - it seems to be on/off week-by-week. Palermo is a difficult club to deal with (to say the least) and money is not something they are short of. They crave success and I would not be surprised to see him stay another season. Juventus have been knocked back with their standard offer of €20m in cash plus Raffaelle Palladino, Amauri and Sebastian Giovinco in exchange, on loan or in part-ownership as part of the deal. Chelsea are looking for a long-term replacement for Lampard and Manchester United are looking for a long-term replacement for Scholes. He is certainly not top of Chelsea's transfer list but they will keep a watching brief. The rejected bid that was publicised was certainly from Manchester City. Liverpool had shown an interest before Christmas but will struggle with the price - which if he is sold is likely to be the highest of the summer. The fee will be in the region of £50M or a part ownership deal may well be negotiated. If I had to suggest a destination Barcelona, one of the Milanese clubs or an outside chance of Chelsea. Chances of moving to Liverpool: 1/10.}

Hey eds. Has all interest in matias defederico dropped? He looked a very good prospect and had a few caps for the argentine national team. Would he fail to meet the criteria for a work permit? Thanks, matlock {Ed002's Note - There is no interest that I know of for Defederico and there could well be work permit and ownership issues.}

27 May 2011 14:10:13
I would like some clarity regarding transfers. I thought that the process works like this: Club A wants to buy a player from Club B. Club A contacts Club B regarding the player; the clubs negotiate a price for the player if the player is willing to move. Only after that is Club A allowed to speak to the player and his representatives to discuss personal terms. Is this correct?

I ask because there is seems to be a lot of talk of LFC talking to agents before actually placing a bid and I thought that is considered an illegal approach.

{Ed002's Note - Clubs will typically informally ask an agent (a) if the player is going to be available, and (b) would the player consider a move to the club. If the answer is yes, it is then necessary for the club to approach the player's club to ask if they would be willing to sell and if they would grant permission to speak to a player's agent and possibly even the player. This will typically involve either broadly (through an offer) or actually agreeing a fee and responsibility for any significant costs (agents fees etc.). Once this has happened the club will be able to speak to the player's agent and perhaps the player himself to look at the package that will be involved. So many players are looked at and discussed at a high-level with agents and clubs; a subset of those have an offer placed; a subset of those involve discussions with the player's club; a subset of those involve discussions over terms, and; a subset of those go ahead.}

Liverpool willing to sign Sevilla forward Diego Perotti

News from the Red's Merseyside has informed of Liverpool attempting to sign Sevilla's prodigal youngster Diego Perotti. Interest has been confirmed by both clubs and a final answer is expected soon.

Sources have confirmed that both boards have been trying to negotiate for the winger for a few months now. Though differences corroded early negotiations, both clubs are willing to look forward to the inking of a deal. A pre-contract is expected to be signed by the player in the coming days with the early part of summers turning him to a loyal Red.

Nonetheless, no lucid conclusion has been reported by any club as yet. Earlier, the 22-year-old player expressed his will to join a new club and even though he has desired for a move, Perotti is yet to edge towards a club. Reports were confirming Anfield to be his new home, quoting hints from all over the place, however, clear proof is yet to be delivered.

With the Argentine's contract set to expire in 2015, Perotti has desired to join a top notch club where he can face competition on a well balanced scale. It seems like the Argentinean International is finally fed up of the two-horse-race in La Liga between Barcelona and Real Madrid.

Liverpool have not been like the legendary powerhouse they used to be, succumbing to injury and financial issues in the past season and a half. With the arrival of Liverpool legend Kenny Dalglish, Kop has seen the Reds rejuvenate from their ashes, hence, the once sky-high reputation of the club has been somewhat restored.

King Kenny has also signed in a couple of talented players to the Merseyside club. During the winter transfer window he signed Uruguayan striker Luis Suarez from Ajax and Englishman Andy Carroll from Newcastle United.

In the past couple of months many clubs have presented offers for Perotti. Interest has been shown from Germany, Italy, England and Spain itself, however, Sevilla has snubbed all offers, unable to agree on the transfer fees.

Perotti started his junior and professional career from Deportivo Moran. During his senior years he featured in 34 games for them and scored 5 times. Later on he was signed by Sevilla and after playing in their B team he was soon promoted to their Primera Division squad.

Perotti has capped 54 times for Sevilla and netted 7 goals. He can also boast a cap for Argentina. The Argentina International is handy on both sides of the wings and that is why he is being offered for £8 million, a price most clubs think is too much for a 22-year-old.

Timmo {Ed002's Note - I wouldn't have worded it exactly that way myself, but there we go.}

ed are we looking at anyone for the right wing? if so who are the options, which would be the most realistic option
Thanks {Ed002's Note - I get the impression the club are planning on cornering the market in left backs and left wingers. For the right, Payet has been looked at. He would be a good choice and is available. PSG alos interested.}

juventus are also in the running for him they have made contact yesterday, but could be just antics over aquallani

{Ed002's Note - It will not be anything to do with Aquilani, but as you say Juventus are also interested.}

here are the chances of signing 5 players

1) Marveaux (Free) 100%
2) McCarthy (10m) 95%
3) Downing (12m) 70%
4) Ejiro Elia (10m) 70% (if elia signs 4 us, him n suarez will rip the premiership apart, mark my words)
5) aguero (39m) 30%

im the same person who wrote daglish was to make an interview the same day, as he became permanent manager

27 May 2011 13:09:18
Ed, do you think that downing is one of the 1st choice wingers we are looking at or is he backup if others fall through. I personally don't think he is good enough and plus he has no real sell on value and is injury prone {Ed002's Note - I am not going to try and get in to "first choice" or "backup" issues. Over the past for years he has played in 38, 37, 25, 38 league games out of 38; so I can't see how you could tag him as "injury prone". For me Perotti is better.}

27 May 2011 13:09:00
What do we think of signing Bougherra from Rangers? We need a CB, he wants a move to the EPL and he got rave reviews at the African Cup of Nations and was solid throughout his run in the CL. Would make sense, can't see him costing more than 5mil

The king has said that he is only looking at the highest calibre of players and it would be unfair to the current players to do anything less. Expect elia and izaguirre to arrive, whilst I agree that it would be highly unlikely to see aguero at lfc next season and don't expect him to sign, it was a huge suprise to see Carroll sign for 35mil in January so wouldnt rule it out completely. Liverpool have nearly signed James McCarthy

27 May 2011 12:38:37
No one is really concentrating on the out's department and that is as important to our hopes of signing players are.

It must be said, and agreed by all, that the quality of depth in our squad is not what a top club has to have and certainly not one our wage bill says we have.

It is shocking to note that our wage bill since 2008 has rocketed from £73M to £114M at the end of June 2010, especially considering the quality in depth has plummeted. This does not include Joe Cole's £5M annual wage salary.

I have long said that 11 out and 11 in is not viable in any shape, way or form either practicably or financially. However it is fair to say at least 11 need to be shown the door for various reasons, the main one being the player concerned is just not good enough for us. However can the club afford to off load a vast amount of players without upsetting the quantity whilst improving the quality?

So in no particular order these players need to be shown the door simply because they are just not good enough. I have given a fee of what i think we could justifiably raise for them:-

Konchesky £1M
Kyriagos £500K
Jones £1M
Cole £4M
Poulsen £1.5M
Jovanovic £5M
Ngog £4M (8 is having a larf!)
Nabil El Zhar £0
Insua £3M

Total :- £20M

These other players need moving on because they are just too injury prone or generally surplus to requirements but better than the players above.

Aquilani £12M (i am not sure what we still owe Roma and how much of this fee if any comes out and goes to them)
Aurelio £0
Agger £10M
Maxi £1M

Total :- a possible £23M

However i cannot see all these named to go in one summer. Yet Agger, Aurelio, Cole and Jovanovic on their own do not in any way represent value for money in terms of what they give to the team to the ratio of the wages the club gives them.

One thing is apparent and abundantly clear. The club has one hell of a re-building job to do because some of these players listed above will still be here next season and therefore the squad will not be at a level it needs to be at.

Food for thought for those of you out there who think we will be title contenders without the need of utilising the squad.

Bob the Red {Ed002's Note - Bob, 5M euros are owed to Roma plys there are agent fees. The agent fees get waived if he signs for Juventus.}

100% fact!

Mark Lawro was at Gary Nevilles testimonial this week and played golf with Dalglish and Hansen the day before

Basically my mate had to look after lawro for an hour in an executive box at Old Trafford
(Iv'e seen a picture of my mate with Lawro and he wouldnt lie about what was said)

King Kenny wants 5 players, but has also told the owners he wants to get rid of a fair few as well. The owners are ready to back him 100%.

The only name confirmed was Charlie Adam, Blackpools attempts to extend his contract are to raise the price, and why shouldnt they (we would surely!)

Cheers
Luke

Why Eds don't like the likes of Ashley Young. He is atleast better than what we have in Wings and proven in Premier League. And atleast he was chased by Spams and do Kenny want his target lost to our Biggest Rivals.

{Ed002's Note - I have nothing agaisnt Ashley Young. I think other Eds think that better options exist. All I have ever said is that I did not think Young was nailed on and expected Manchester United to get involved in bidding for him I certainly think that there is a much better option available for the left wing in Diego Perotti - younger and cheaper. So I'll suggest he is worthy of a serious look (as I have been trying to say).}

"There will be no Aguero, no Benzema, no Contraeu, no A. Young, no C. Adam, no L. Baines, no Turan, no Clichy, no Sanchez, no Pastore or any other big players coming to LFC."

What is ur connection to the inner workings of LFC? How can you possibly make such a sweeping assessment of what will happen in the window? I bet u knew absolutely nothing about Suarez and Carroll coming to us, just as nobody else did!

It irritates me realy that anyone who does not have the remotest hint of real info can say such nonsense. In truth the only info about who we may sign will only come from other clubs anyway, so almost all the comments on here are complete conjecture!

Realy a very addictive site editors, good work, but can I ask you are several of you American? {Ed002's Note - Only one is American.}

27 May 2011 12:20:05
not a rumour as such more an observation...

If Liverpool are only going to be perusing the Downing's and Enriques of this world then we can all get used to clamouring for Europa League spots for the foreseeable future. Those players are not going to make the difference so I sincerely hope we are not looking that way. If you want to compete for the best prizes such as the Premiership and Champions League then you have to buy the best players!

Liverpool FC is still Liverpool FC and I believe we still can attract the best players whilst out of the CL but you have to pay top money and convince we are moving forward. As well as we finished the season the squad still needs a major overhaul. I mean when Lucas is winning player of the year that tells you everything how many did he score and directly assist last season.

I honestly believe we will be in for the best players and our name alone can help bring them but the owners must pay the money and I think they will. Signing a top player in the £30-£40m bracket will pretty much pay for itself in merchandise and the owners are savvy enough to realise this.

I don't think Steven Gerrard and Pepe have been convinced to stay and are happy with the project based on a few free transfers and promises of Ashley Young and Joey Barton!!

Dalglish wants to wrap up signings of Stewart Downing & Lee Cattermole by the end of next month and James McCarthy & Scott Dann also to sign during the summer.

Since when did we want to sign Adam Johnson ??

27 May 2011 12:09:44
So it does appear that we did talk with Mata's father yesterday and he was very impressed with Liverpool. A bid should be made in the next week or two. In my opinion he would be a great signing.

hi ed about our lb position who is the player that you think we would have a decent chance of signing him? I know it is difficult to say it's just that we have been linked to all the players on earth.

thanks hibsylfc {Ed002's Note - There has been a bid for Enrique and on the basis of that I suspect he is the most likely.}

St Etienne interested in Ngog so this could work well with a bid for Matudi. Also an official bid for Mata (20million) will be made in the coming week after positive talks.

27 May 2011 11:42:47
Point for the record I intimated that LFC would buy Stuart Downing weeks ago. This was based on information gleaned from an agent friend. My friend assures me that we are in the box seat and the only other DECENT club even remotely interested is Arsenal but they are pursuing major French and South American possibilities. (Hazard et al) and will only come to the table if they don't materialise. Liverpool want to get the deal done quickly so they can secure other transfers. Elia is definitely a target but his club want too much money. Marin is Spurs/ Munich/ highest bidder bound. Mata is holding out for a move to Man City/ Chelsea and especially Barca. Downings appeal is he can play both flanks. I personally think hes inconsistent and we should stay well clear. Hell have one great game and four or five mediocre ones...Coutinho has rebuffed us as well as Sakho/ Sissokho. Mutaudi is a done deal on the proviso we pay the hefty asking price...More news when I get it!

Liverpools interest in home grown players seems to be gathering momentum with contact with none other than man city for one Adam Johnson city would only consider a move for Johnson if the deal included Glenn Johnson going the other way a move that doesn't weaken Liverpool since the emergence of Kelly an Flanagan my city youth team coach source has indicated that there is a worry over johnsons fitness in lasting 90 min week in week out but Liverpool believe this will improve with starting and considering daglishes track record with looking after players well being Johnson could not find a better club

Hi guys/ eds, just wanted to know if anyone knows the situation with Jesus navas. Is he available? Does he still suffer with home sickness, and if available what would the chances of him coming to Liverpool be? Cheers all Toxteth red

{Ed002's Note - I don't know if he is available of not and I suspect only a prolonged period away from Spain would give any clue about whether is is over the homesickness issue or not. I have him as a 1/10.}

27 May 2011 09:40:09
Just received an E-mail from my (only) source. He's usually quite accurate.
Liverpools definite left back targets are(in order of most wanted):
*Emilio Izzaguire - Celtic - £8m - SPL player of the year.
*Jose Enrique - Newcastle - We won't budge on £8m. £15m is the asking price.
*Gael Clichy - Arsenal - £8m - Contract Rebel.
*Aly Cissokho - Lyon - £15m - But only if the other 3 bids all fail.

Left back is seen as a real problem position by KK and DC, but they want the best potential value and ability for their money. From this, it looks like we've had £8m sanctioned by the owners to deal with this position in particular.

YNWA! (Adam)

27 May 2011 09:35:25
With all this Aguero talk about him not coming to Anfield because of the costings lets have a look at the facts:

Our total outlay in the Jan transfer window was £1.8m NET!

Suarez and Carroll were looked at to play WITH Torres, not without! So on that basis the owners were already looking at spending around £50/ 60m! Take away the sale of Babel etc.

So on that basis, they didn't spend the money they were looking to, and from what I can Mr Henry and his partners plan well in advance and they will have had an idea of what they would want to be dishing out in the summer too. Maybe around £40/ 50m.

I know it doesn't work on budgets but on the players the manager requires but even FSG will have a limit in their heads.

So for the situation of buying Aguero, I don't think the initial price is beyond LFC in the slightest.

Some are saying his wages would be the problem! Yes they may be high but remember what FSG kept telling us when the first took over? The Red Sox have the second highest wage bill in the league! And yes I know ours is a little too high at the moment but look at the fact that Cole, Jovanavic, Poulson, Konchesky are all on a decent wedge, Cole himself could contribute two thirds of Aguero's wages. So for that one I again think it would not be a problem.

The one thing I think that would scupper the deal is the one which may scupper most. European football. But on this one if Aguero is an intelligent man he will see we are on the up, with no CL or EL all we have to do is concentrate on the league and that could give him one full season to get used to the EPL. Then move on to Europe.

So with all this info on board and the fact he is bezzies with Maxi and is an LFC fan...Aguero to Liverpool! Surely our front three would then be the best in the world, even better that FCB?

I hate it when people do this but.. What do you think Ed's?

{Ed002's Note - It is really not worth the grief I will get to comment. Yesterday I received a vast amount of foul and abusive posts from Liverpool fans who cannot understand some very simple issues surrounding the claims about Coentrao.}

27 May 2011 09:35:20
Hey ed u say slim chances to aguero, Navas, Hazzard, Cavvani, Naeymara u rate them 1/ 10. So who do u think will be the real big signing in your opininon? is there really gonna be it or just water in the sand again?

{Ed002's Note - I don't get this thing about "real big" or "marquee" signing. Liverpool will look to improve their squad. Don't expect Alexis Sanchez, Ganso or Neymar to be joining.}

27 May 2011 09:32:16
There will be no Aguero, no Benzema, no Contraeu, no A. Young, no C. Adam, no L. Baines, no Turan, no Clichy, no Sanchez, no Pastore or any other big players coming to LFC.

Downing may sign.
Cattermole may sign.
Izaguire may sign.
Marveaux may sign.

Sorry to disapoint but every year we hear the same stories about Turan, Aguero and other big-money players but the truth is we can't offer champions league or huge wages like utd, Chelsea or Man City. We need to start being realistic, lets try and cement are place back in the top 4 before we have pipe dreams of winning the league, I hate to say it but we are miles away form achieving that...Great site by the way.

Liverpool have bid 21m plus jovanovic for cavani, aguero is a smoke screen to get cavani without a bidding war. Would be a quality signing. Do you rate him eds? {Ed002's Note - Napoli want to make the move of Cavani permanent and offer up a player, cash and part ownership of a couple of youngsters. Part of the problem is that the player they wish to offer Palermo (Fabio Quagliarella) is on a loan deal to Juventus with an option to buy at the end of the loan, albeit he is out injured right now. Manchester City, Real Madrid, Chelsea, Tottenham and Arsenal have at one time shown an interest. I think it is unlikely that he will move to Liverpool. There are no smoke screens.}

27 May 2011 08:05:17
Looks like Fabio Coentrao could be coming to Liverpool.
Best news i've heard in weeks. {Ed002's Note - Sorry but I am afraid it is not on the cards at all.}

27 May 2011 07:35:29
Whats the chances of NEYMAR ??

Saw the boy play against Scotland for Brazil and he was different class (Mainly from the left).

I know Chelsea have followed him but they are managerless at the moment. now the time we should brake the bank for Him. He has the potential and marketing value to be up there with the likes of Messi and Ronaldo.

NEYMAR CARROL SUAREZ as a front 3. keep hearing we need wingers. Cant see it!! Attacking Full Backs should provide the width with 3 in central midfield to keep hold of the ball.

FORGET ALL THESE FIFA 11 SIGNINGS

ONE PLAYER. HE's ARE MAN!!

{Ed002's Note - The chances of Neymar are 0/10 I am afraid.}

27 May 2011 07:13:00
everybody knows liverpool needs a CB LB 2 or three Wingers a backup ST and maybe a CM so i think we could sign,
Scott Dann £7 million
Emilio Izaguirre £9 million
Juan Mata £20 million
Marveaux Free
Eljero Elia £8 million
Charlie Adam £7 million
Shane Long £5 million

= £56 million
we also have grat young talent coming through the academy.and if we sell all of our deadwood we could add more younger players to our squad and could challenge for the title.

27 May 2011 06:42:33
Latest info is that Downing would like a move to Arsenal but not Liverpool which has dissapointed Kenny

if he is really moving to Arsenal or any team but Liverpool, that would be great. He is just so over-rated.

27 May 2011 06:18:17
Mata may come to us, and we also are looking to bring Navas. Even though he will come to us due to his home sickness can he play well in liverpool(in case he comes) is it going to be the biggest risk? what do ya think eddie?? {Ed002's Note - I think chances of Navas are very slim.}

27 May 2011 05:47:06
hey ed an others
first up just remember guys if it wasnt for the eds we wouldnt be posting here we are all liverpool fans so just chill!!! i was just wondering in light of aguero's real marid links looking less and less what clubs could actually sign him? he'd be great for us but i doubt we'd land him without european footy thanks heaps lovve the site YNWA {Ed002's Note - Chelsea, Manchester United, Manchester City, Barcelona, Juventus; and I would not entirely discount Real madris. The slimmest of chances - Liverpool.}

27 May 2011 05:42:14
Why did macca about 2 weeks ago say that we are going to sign Friedel "deal done". Hes just a random dude he doesn't have any inside knowledge just like the rest of us.

No he said friedel is very close to signing. Macca never said ''deal done''.

{Ed002's Note - To be fair things change as fees cannot be agreed, players change their mind and other clubs become involved. You perhaps would do better for thanking Macca for providing an update.}

27 May 2011 02:57:12
hey ed, what do you think the chances are for liverpool entering the race to sign ganso or neymar? or do you think they are chelsea/ real madrid bound?

also do you know if we are still interested in signing christian ericsonfrom ajax, or cavani from napoli? {Ed002's Note - I don't think there is any chance of Liverpool getting Ganso or Neymar to move to Anfield and I suspect little chance of bids being made. Neymar may well move to Chelsea. Ganso's move to Milan is complicated by non-EU player quotas and passport applications by others. For now I expect Eriksen to stay at Ajax but if he comes up for sale it is clear that Liverpool will be interested.}

27 May 2011 02:52:38
Hey fellow reds! I echo the sentiments that this is a great site. Now my ipswich contact told me they are actively looking to sell wickham, any ed's know of any genuine liverpool interest in him?
YNWA, h-bomb {Ed002's Note - If he does leave this season I suspect Spurs, Newcastle and Liverpool will be the three main protagonists.}

Quote:

Balague on talksport

Aguerro to Liverpool - No, no, no why would they spend that much on a player they don't need

End quote

If we don't need Aguerro then Balague must know who we have signed instead.

{Ed002's Note - Before reading too much in to his statement I suspect he was referring to Suarez - if anyone at all.}

27 May 2011 02:43:33
I'm a little confused as to all the rumours being thrown around about Liverpool signing a new central midfielder. We need a left back and a couple of wingers, but from where I am (admittedley on the other side of the world) we seem very strong in the midfield - Lucas and Spearing have been fantastic in recent weeks, people seem to like Merieles (I'm not so sure), Gerrard will be back (and hopefully in better form under Dalglish), and then there are some good young players coming through - Shelvey (I wasn't convinced at first, but have recently come round) and Coady. If we sign another center mid, that'll be 7 players contending for two spots - not a good thing for promoting youngsters into the first squad. Just a thought.
On the rumours side, despite Kenny saying we will sign players, I don't expect many to come in due to lack of european football. Maybe:
-Dann
- Downing
- A Johnson
- A player like Lukaka (But not someone as high profile. Maybe a young french striker (DC's conections) who can start a partnership with Morgan in the reserves/ u18s).

27 May 2011 02:41:29
in my opinion, the best solution for left back is right under our noses.. i believe LEIGHTON BAINES is the guy for the job, granted it would take alot for him to cross the park or whatever but nobody even seems to mention him any more :/ what dya rekon EDs? (opinion and maybe a rating out of 10 for likleyness?) thanks -Greg- {Ed002's Note - A very good player but if he does move there is also interest from Manchesteer City and I suspect Arsenal. Perhaps a 4/10.}

27 May 2011 01:26:06
in light of the aguero situation in madrid!! how now do you rate myself and macca's quote that we will be in the market for benzema?? which i posted prob 6 weeks ago and am still informed he's 1 of our main targets with cahill and i still think turan??????
