Hi ed,

Just wanted to know if there is any interest in aaron lennon, he young, pacey and english which fits the policy of the owners. Maybe a swap deal involving johnson.

Kashabinho {Ed002's Note - Not that I am aware of.}

Why would he swap spurs for liverpool, take a long hard look at the club

Didn't realise pacey was a criteria we were looking at! wide of the mark thus far with signings

A winger with no end product...yeah thats exactly what we need.

His end product has improved vastly!

He's brutal, and there is no owners policy of buying English

Not worth him coming Liverpool while we have andy Carroll hel jus b a faster downing

Old subject - I'm surprised anyone is still asking this -

The policy of just buying young english , I believe may be flawed, other clubs tried it and it has always failed

Another over rated english player

eds inn your personal oopinion wht do you make of the sterling rumours and do you think he will leave?

thanks pleas epost {Ed001's Note - I don't believe there is anything in them other than papers making mischief and no I don't think he will leave, yet.}

Yet? you exspect him to leave in a few years?

I, on the other hand, believe that there is something in them, though I don't think they are entirely true. If not, how would we explain kk handing him an appearance?

Listen, regardless of what people think hes off in the summer, if people are stupid enough to believe he would actually come out and say "i can't settle in liverpool & I miss london etc etc" on his twitter account need their heads examined, he has been told by the club to say the right things and as a employee of the club you shall respect the club and its wishes!

Just so you know, there was an agreement when we signed sterling that he would get a 3 year pro contract when he turned 17 {Ed002's Note - That is not possible. Pro contracts must end in June and so the maximum would be two and a half years.}

That's not true.. if he sings on his birthday it can end on his birthday. {Ed002's Note - No. All professional contracts end in June unless the season ends in December - when they end at that time. As he is under 18 he can only sign a maximum of a 3 year deal, hence two and a half years is the most he can sign for.}

Hi Ed002 - I remember reading the same thing several months ago. At the time there was also a yearly salary of £300,000 mentioned.
Dutchmal {Ed002's Note - I guess what you read is wrong.}

27 Mar 2012 21:02:07
hi edds any intrest in axel witsel would be a great addition {Ed002's Note - There was before the move to Benfica last year. I don't see him moving this summer.}

27 Mar 2012 20:38:08
are we looking at sao Paulo`s lucas. V good player {Ed002's Note - Chelsea have made a bid for Lucas but will also face a serious challenge from Inter.}

No chance of signing him or more importantly of him wanted to come to a mid table prem team. He also has a huge release clause in his contract

27 Mar 2012 17:19:16
I think Steven Defour would be a good shout for the summer.

He moved to Benfica in the summer for roughly 10-12 million, but we may be able to get him for a similar fee.

He's still young too and very talented.

Jonesred

Thought he was at Porto???

Porto not Benfica

No he's at benfica {Ed002's Note - He is a Porto player.}

Epic fail. he is at porto

Lol what a numpty. you're already on the internet, try your checking before you make yourself look silly! anyway i do agree that he is a quality player and would love to see him replace someone like charlie adam

27 Mar 2012 17:11:20
Isn't Javi Martinez a defensive midfielder? Last time I checked Lucas was a pretty good defensive midfielder. Assuming he comes back 100% (ACL injuries have a very high success rate now) I can't imagine Liverpool would pursue an CDM with the other pressing needs.

More of a deep lying playmaker like alonso

We need goals

And real titles

They would both fit into a 4231 or 433 system together. also lucas was purchased as an attacking midfielder so if a cdm was purchased then he might get a little more license to go forward.

hey eds are we interested in 16 yr old luke shaw from southampton? , he seems to be a very versatile and an extremely talented player...........RED INDIAN

There are a couple of soton players that could well be on their way to spurs & arsenal respectively, his name sounds familiar to those I heard

The young lad will be staying at Southampton for at least another year i have been told, but there is interest in the player from various clubs, which have not been named.

Thanks

G'day Eds,

Just heard supposed rumours that we're interested in Ocampos. You rate? Good chance of him coming?

SA Red {Ed002's Note - It sounds like old news to me. River Plate's Lucas Ocampos has been looked at by a number of sides with Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Chelsea maintaining an interest. I understand that Diego Caniggia took a look on behalf of Liverpool but it was decided that he would be too expensive to buy and that seems to have ended any brief interest that Liverpool had. Inter Milan, Sevilla and Palermo have also shown an interest and Juventus (not either of the Milan clubs) made a bid.}

27 Mar 2012 16:09:51
Eds what's your opinion, based on your knowledge, what players we will buy in the summer?
I know it's just March but what do you think what players will sign, as it seems at this time? {Ed002's Note - There is no point in guessing which will acually sign. There is plenty of information about where interest rests with wingers and with strikers.}

Marco Bueno, perhaps. Have seen ed, confident about us having signed him on pre-contract. Hope, we'd see him here and hope, he'd flourish into first team, on his time. YNWA

Is it true that montolivo's contract expires in the summer ?
Would be a decent player as cover for Lucas next season.I know arsenal have a better chance now but how do you rate our chance? -mihir

Montolivo a back up for lucas? One he isnt a defensive midfielder and two; he is quality and would be in the startin line up alongside lucas!

He signed an agreement to join Milan in the summer. Think he signed about six weeks ago.

Jonesred {Ed002's Note - There is no signed agreement or pre-contract but Montolivo will leave Fiorentina in the summer and regardless of interest from Juventus, Liverpool and Roma will almost certainly move to Milan.}

Why would a top-class player like Montolivo join Liverpool to be cover for Lucas?

Hi ed, just wondering if there is any interest in Giuseppe Rossi of Villareal or Javi Marquez of Espanyol? Could be great fits in our side as replacements for Adam who has been dreadful of late and another option up front?

Also what do you think of Valencia's Pablo Hernandez and is there any chance of him, as I know we have been linked to him before?

Cheers mate, take care.

maka
YNWA JFT96 {Ed002's Note - Giuseppe Rossi will leave Villareal in the summer and a move to Italy is most likely if he leaves Spain. Barcelona may be interested. I don't know of interest in Marquez. As for Hernandez, past interest has been shown by Italian sides Palermo, Fiorentina and Napoli but I suspect he will stay in Spain if he does eventually move.}

Reports in Holland say Liverpool are interested in Dries Mertens (PSV Eindhoven) but face competition from Bayern München.

Any truth in this eds? {Ed002's Note - Although Liverpool may have taken a look at Mertens I don't see him moving to LIverpool - if he moves I suspect it may well be to Bayern Munich.}

Would have to disagree with Ed002 as Bayern have already got Muller, Robben, Ribery and have just brought Shaqiri. {Ed002's Note - So you think Robben will stay? And Thomas Mueller is not a winger like Mertens.}

Even though theyve signed xakiri?

Do u really think that Bayern needs wingers? Robben, Ribery, shaquiri and now Mertens? {Ed002's Note - In simple terms Mertens is Bayern's planned replacement for Robben if he leaves.}

How many wingers do they need?! Haha which one is going to get the boot when Goetze finally becomes available. Or Reus. Or any young German kid in the future.

Reus signed for dortmund. gotze signed 2 year contract extension.

Hi Eds,

I've just read that Bojan is a target for LFC as he's unsettled at Roma.

Apparently his transfer to Roma is a complex, with Roma paying a fee, but having to pay an additional fee in 2 years to keep him, and Barca having a buy back price slightly more than the first fee paid by Roma, or something equally complex.

My question isn't regarding the likelyhood of him coming or if he is good enough (personally I haven't seen enough of him but I don't think he has reached his expected potential that was originally hyped.)

My question is with his transfer being so complex, how would another team be able to buy him, would they have to buy through Roma (and what would Roma have to then pay) or would Barca have to buy him back and then a team buy from Barca?

Thanks
DAn {Ed002's Note - The figures are off the top of my head but a team would have to pay the 12M euro Roma paid and then the 28M euros Roma owe Barcelona to complete his transfer this year. I would not hold your breath over this.}

To be honest I didn't expect it to happen, but just wondered on how it would need to play out if it did. - And that pretty much confirms that it won't be happening anytime soon.

Nice one thanks for the info.
DAn

40 million scandalous for a young player who hasn't really done anything.

Jonesred {Ed002's Note - It is only 25M euros if Roma wait another year and continue paying his wages. The high cost for this year is simply to stop Roma just buying to profit immediately. The problem is that his performances have been poor and neither club seem to want him.}

Hello ed001/002. Is Doumbia available in the summer and is he also on the list of "not coming without CL" players?

VM YNWA {Ed002's Note - There was an enquiry from Newcastle in January about Doumbia and it is likely if there is another English team who have actually enquired it will be Arsenal. No doubt other clubs have had scouts at games but that is some way from making any serious enquiries for the player. Doumbia does a good job of talking himself up and CSKA will likely want £25M or so for the player. I would not hold your breath over him moving to Liverpool.}

27 Mar 2012 12:44:15
hi edds any intrest in willian {Ed002's Note - Liverpool have shown an interest in past months but Shakhtar Donetsk would want about 30M euros for the player. Perhaps it could be negotiated down a little. I would not hold your breath over him moving to Liverpool.}

For some reason or the other my post didn't come through last night. I went to Liverpool airport last night at 11 to pick up my parents. I saw luis Suarez coming from arrivals. There were 3 flights coming in last night from canary islands, Dublin and Barcelona. Read what you want into this. I'm just saying what I saw {Ed002's Note - It did come through, it was posted and it has been answered.}

He's was on the sesh over in Dublin!

Suarez to Tenerife?

Hi, my name is Luis Suarez and what this person has quoted is correct. I am sorry to all the Liverpool fans but for my own peace of mind I must follow my boyhood dreams. I will be leaving the club in the summer to find out what the 'craic' is at my beloved Shamrock Rovers.

Hi Eds. Just wondering about P. Couthino, Rafa had interest in him, and he was mentioned in January. He is at Espanyol now and having a great spell I think. Do you think that he may be a summer target? Long way off and Inter may want to keep him if he continues his run, but he surly has all the skills to become a great player. Also I would love to see G. Ramirez and M. Sissoko in our team. If you have to pick three realistic signings that you would want to see, who would it be? Keep up the good work, cheers {Ed002's Note - The situation with Philippe Coutinho remains broadly unchanged as far as I know. Inter had offered to loan Coutinho to Bologna as part of a deal for Gaston Ramirez that eventually fell through last summer. He had a few starts early in the season and with Inter looking to sell Sneijder at some point to help fund their rebuilding I don't think they would want to sell - hence the loan to Espanyol. Coutinho would need a work permit so any move would not be easy. Whilst Gaston Ramirez has been watched by Liverpool I remain unsure as to how strong the interest is from the club. A move to Inter Milan, Palermo or Juventus, who have made a firm offer, is also possible - although unsubstantiated rumours suggest Manchester United, Barcelona, Chelsea and Real Madrid are also interested. Sevilla were interested but I understand that Ramirez has no interest in such a move. He was available in January for about 15M euro and his agent was looking for a signing on fee for the player as well. He will move in the summer. Toulouse's Moussa Sissoko has attracted interest from Lyon, Roma, Genoa, Juventus, Liverpool and probably Napoli. Arsenal and Milan's previous interest waned over last summer. Damien Comolli let Sissoko's agent know that Liverpool see his man as the ideal long-term replacement for Steven Gerrard but for some reason Liverpool failed to make the final push in the summer. Sissoko remains available but Liverpool have yet to follow up their previous interest.}

Hi Eds, do you know if we have any interest in Dempsey, he'd be on the cheap as well due to his contract expiring soon. Feel he would be a good addition to the squad. And he actually scores goals!

Springer {Ed002's Note - Clint Dempsey has more that another year to run on his contract and Fulham are keen to have him sign a new deal. Whilst I agree he would be a good addition to the squad I don't know of any firm interest.}

27 Mar 2012 11:22:28
Eds what are the chances of us getting de Jong from twente do you feel, reasonably high? {Ed002's Note - There is certainly a chance that he could make the move. De Jong will likely make the European Championship squad this summer and will be one of those being watched by a number of clubs from Italy, Germany and England. Interest has been shown by Liverpool, Lille and Newcastle over recent months but any waning interest from Newcastle has now been replaced by firm interest from both Dortmund and Hamburg. It has been suggested to me that Lazio are looking to Luuk De Jong as a replacement for Tommaso Rocchi.}

27 Mar 2012 10:41:32
Do Liverpool have any interest in Shinji Kagawa? {Ed002's Note - Liverpool have been one of the clubs, along with Udinese, Spurs, Villarreal and Valencia, who have shown an interest in Kagawa this past few months. Although Kagawa has had a generally pretty poor season to start with, he is now back in favour at Dortmund and looking to agree an extension to his contract. I think that he will probably stay on in Germany next season.}

He has 11goals and 9 assist in 24games ? Better than all our cm togheter :)

Hi Eds, just a quick one -

I really dont see us selling Johnson in summer. Yes his wages were high, but how many times his salary did we clear off by getting shot of Poulsen, N'gog, aqua, cole, particularly jovanovic in summer? i'd say at least 3x.

also, unless we sign DECENT cover for the WB positions, it'l only weaken our squad if he leaves - whilst Kelly is excellent, johnno and flanno need a loan deal or something to get more experience, and i dont see ever beeing good enough to be more than squad players.

On the subject of loans, do you see Jonjo going out again next season? IMO he has the potential to be a vastly superior player to Henderson, but keeping him on the bench wont do him any good. {Ed002's Note - Liverpool are still contributing to the saleries of Poulsen, Aquilani and Cole - so your argument does not really stand up. I could certainly see a loan being a possibility for Shelvey, but I doubt any decision will be taken before the summer.}

You do realise Johnno and Flanno are the same person?

Hero

We aren't still paying poulsen's wages. he left for about 750000 pounds

27 Mar 2012 10:08:09
If we do decide to cash in on Carroll this summer how much will we receive for him and who will buy him. No way will we receive anywhere near the 35m we paid for him. {Ed002's Note - It is too early to say who will be interested in buying him, but several clubs will be looking out for strikers.}

QPR West Ham Stoke Spurs only teams I can see interested and can expect to pay at least 10m

Do you think there will be a lot of interest in a striker who doesn't know how to score?

Stoke

Hopefully anzi or malaga come in with a good offer

Ed great site and great work.

Ed are we looking for any spanish players this summer. Its a fac that Liverpool is rated high in spain..and we have moulded some of the finest spanish players of all time..alonso, torres, arbelao..raina...apart from mata you dont find much spanish players in EPL outside Liverpool..
If we are looking at a midfield player Javi martinez wil lfit. at 25 mill he is absolute quality..what u think ED? and y we did not buy him last summer wen we bought Henderson for 20 mill?
Also what was teh reason of not going for Mata? CL? if so I doubt chelseas will make this year..cant see him moving out?? he is the difference of our league position..

Ed..Negardo is a decent player? spanish and he looks a quality striker for around 10-15 mil who can score goals..not mere tap ins..but some good goals..are we intersted in him?

Ed your reply expected {Ed002's Note - Javi Martinez was not for sale last year and it is not simply a case of buying any player if the money is available. Manchester City are probably looking to replace Nigel De Jong in the summer and Javi Garcia and Javi Martinez were the two players they are looking at. I was told a while back that Inter Milan may make a bid for Javi if they decide not to take Juraj Kucka from co-owners Genoa. I am not convinced that Bilboa will want to sell the player any time soon, and if they do they will want 40M euro with Barcelona and Real Madrid being possible destinations. Garcia has signed a new deal at Benfica so I imagine Martinez will become a serious target for Manchester City. There was a little interest in Mata but the player was not interested in a move to Liverpool. There was interest in Negredo when Benitez was in charge but there is no interest from Liverpool and I understand he is not for sale right now.}

Ed are there any spanish players we are looking at now.coz. liverpool plays the pass and move game now..and spain plays than better than any one..Mata the way he controlled the ball in teh box of the bosongwa long pass against spurs..OMG we missed him so much..there are stil lsome good players out there are we looking at anyone?
also ed what about Bojan? he seems out of favour in roma? {Ed002's Note - Bojan has not been performing well in Rome but would cost in excess of 40M euro and there are complex clauses in his contract that would see him return to Barcelona if they want him - which they don't. It may be possible that a deal could be done with both clubs in the summer, but don't hold your breath over this one. As for other players, you need to read the posts to keep up.}

Martinez is a great player but not really what were crying out for? Which is Goalscorers!

We will offload maxi, aurelio, cole, aquaman, adam, caroll, maybe johnson, Kuyt. This + £20-£30mil should get us the right players for the right positions and introduce the young bloods.

Cant see adam and johnson leaving

Yeah and this will also leave us short in a few areas. If we want 3 pretty decent players, they'd cost at least 20 million.

People dont seem to get it. they are squad players most of them. Especially adam, they were never meant to play every week

Yes it should get us the right players but looking at kenny's transfer history this will probably get us the wrong players.
the wise one

27 Mar 2012 07:30:08
Hey Eds. just a quick one, have we been watching Ɓlvaro Negredo this season. I know Rafa rated him. I think he is very good striker. Doubt he would cost over the odds plus Sevilla are not going great this season. Lets us know guys. cheers {Ed002's Note - No interest from Liverpool and I understand not for sale right now.}

27 Mar 2012 06:55:21
hey eds , do you'll know why 15 yrs old david moli joined wolves? he looked like a great prospect.......................RED INDIAN {Ed002's Note - Sorry, no idea.}

Think it was to do with his attitude , I thought the same to be honest and thought he looked a decent prospect but someone mentioned attitude , don't quote me on this one but it was a possible rumour

27 Mar 2012 01:36:58
This pricetag for Glen Johnson is ridiculous. 10 million for Englands first choice right back? More like 20 million in this day and age!

BthekingB

Seems it would be £10m if we're selling him - but if we were buying him it would be at least £20m!

We will be lucky to get £10 million for him, another kop flop IMO, certainly has never realised his potential at Liverpool but no doubt will become a world beater at his next club and leave us all asking why he didn't do that for us!

It still suprises me that we have not yet tries on a consistant basis Johnson on the right wing. His best days at Portsmouth were on the wing not right back.
Certianly wouldn't be any worse than Kuyt or Henderson.

Wages is why he'd 'only' be c.£10mil. Not many teams would be able to pay £80k a week for a defender even if they wanted him.

Well, he's actually not all that good, so maybe that's why.

He's not young anymore and has been in poor form, he's also on a silly wage. That's why he's worth £10m max

Gav

27 Mar 2012 01:26:18
With regards to Glen Johnson, is there any idea as to who may be interested in moving for him? I think I remember Arsenal being mentioned? Is there anyone else?

Alex

Why would Arsenal want him? Sagna is arguably a lot better and more consistent. It is no coincidence that since his return Arsenal have won all their games.

27 Mar 2012 00:57:08
Just picked the olds up from Liverpool airport seen Suarez and the only flights were from Barcelona, canarie islands and Dublin....... Read into what u may. Just thought id share

Bang on there. I can see him turning out in a Canary Islands shirt next season then!!
solidair

If the flights were FROM those places then he wouldn't be going anywhere would he! And at that time of the morning I dout anyone would be coming from anywhere else.

e else.

Rumour over here in Ireland that Shamrock Rovers are trying to cut a deal to bring Suarez over with Gary Twigg going in the opposite direction. SO that explains it. Exciting times for liverpool!!

Does this mean Suarez is signing for Shamrock Rovers?

He's gonna move to UCD Dublin
