Any truth in the rumour that Rodgers is now willing to pay the extra money for Moreno, or just paper talk

Believable17 Unbelievable45

I'm not sure we should pay so much for a full back, is he really that good?

Agree1 Disagree1

Hope not, this situation is doing my head in now, move on

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree, I think Rodgers should go for Rodriguez of Wolfsburg, he looks good and would probably be cheaper

I don't have sources but wanted to share that the Liverpool Echo posted an hour ago that Origi seems likely to happen with him being loaned straight back to Lille for the season and also confirmed Markovic is a target of a likely £25M bid. They said he would likely be instead of Shakiri.

I'm paraphrasing but it's online if anyone wishes to read.

Eds, a question if I may. I read (forgive me, I know it's crap but I just enjoy reading anything and everything LFC related and check back on this site to see if any of their rumours seem legit). However, I am deviating and opening myself up for your abuse :-) They state that Savilla might be interested in Aspas and I was wondering if you had heard anything as if there is any glimmer of truth to it would a part ex for Moreno be realistic? Cheers, Bryan

Believable12 Unbelievable4

{Ed001's Note - Aspas is looking like returning to Spain, as it hasn't worked out for him here. I don't expect there to be any swap deal done, though it might well be a good way to get something done.}

Lazar markovic has a release clause of £20 million so wouldn't read into it too much

Agree1 Disagree0

Cheers Ed, much appreciate. Would be cool though to get Moreno although I have to admit I like Aspas and would like to have seen more of him.

Agree1 Disagree4

Nice short concise post!

I agree I would have liked to see aspas get more game time too

Ed, have Liverpool shown any interest in Serge Aurier?

I would be over the moon if we bought him this summer. He is a strong fullback who can defend as well as attack. I don't think I can cope with Glen Johnson for another season.

edds it seem to be going nuts with transfer u think suarez transfer done that's were the money is coming from?

Believable5 Unbelievable8

{Ed001's Note - no, though the club might well be spending on the assumption of getting money for him later, I am told that no deal is done with him as it stands.}

Rumour is that the Owners have actually pumped more money into the club to allow the purchase of the likes of Sanchez etc, and that Suarez will not be sold.

Agree0 Disagree3

27 Jun 2014 21:44:21
And that's what you call as . "BREAK The BANK. ". they just did that

Agree0 Disagree2

Maybe the owners are about to strike a mammoth middle east sponsorship deal which they don't want to disclose just yet so the selling clubs don't drive up prices.

Hi Eds, Guillem Balague (Spanish ssn Pundit) Has said Alexis Sanchez has offers from both Juventus & Liverpool and has a choice. He also goes on to say that Barcelona would be open to giving LFC Pedro and Sanchez as part of a Deal for Suarez. Can you confirm?

Believable12 Unbelievable4

{Ed001's Note - I know he has an offer on the table from Juve, he has also been offered in part-ex for Kroos, but I know nothing of any bid or offer from Liverpool for him. Much as I hope we do bid for him.}

Ballague makes most of his stuff up.

Hi eds, tony barrett of the times is tweeting that we are close to signing lallana and origi. Also says we have bid for lazar markovic. Any truth in the origi and markovic bit?

Believable10 Unbelievable2

{Ed001's Note - seems to be spot on with Origi, no idea about Markovic. I will have to chase that up now and find out. I was trying to get some info on Origi, ended up getting it from someone at Spurs that they believe we have sealed a deal and they have lost out.}

27 Jun 2014 20:14:51
Thanks for the info ed001. Origi looks exciting. Haven't seen much of markovic.

Agree1 Disagree1

Ed do you know if origi will go back on loan. Also do you rate markovic. I Havnt seen much of him but when I have he seems a bit over rated.

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed001's Note - I don't know and I haven't seen anything much of Markovic.}

Saw one game and he was excellent. Semi-final vs Juventus, he was a big threat. Ended with a red but that's okay. I think Brendan is a fan of him and has followed him for a long time.

About time we beat spurs to one our targets lol

I believe Divock Origi (Lille) will sign, Adam Lallana will be a great signing and Liverpool have done extremely well in the negotiation as we've got him at a decent price.

It does seem like the Moreno deal is definitely gone now, a lot will depend on the actions of the other teams interested in him; I won't pretend that this wasn't a blow, having agreed a fee & for it to fall down because of the structure of payments is annoying.

Eds, who are we looking to to strengthen our defence we'll need a LB and CB before next season but we seemed to be linked mostly with forwards and attacking midfielders?
Is Moreno deal off? Will we get Lovren? Are Alderweireld rumours true?

Believable6 Unbelievable1

{Ed002's Note - There was a lot of interest in Moreno but a deal could not be struck. I suspect it won't now happen, but don't rule it out completely. Initial interest was in Rojo and Hector Moreno - but the posters were convinced they are not of Liverpool quality. However, they are both of interest to a number of other clubs. Liverpool returned again to ask about the availability of Bertrand, a player Rodgers knows well. But there is interest in him from elsewhere. Liverpool made a verbal offer for Lovren and would still, I think be keen. But there is interest in him from elsewhere. I am not aware of rumours about Alderweireld but Atletico would happily sell him as they don't see him as making the grade - if you have heard rumours, they might be true and feel free to share them.}

28 Jun 2014 11:37:36
Ed002,
Is there any chance you could make assumptions of who we will get?
I understand under these conditions this is not what will happen but what could happen.
Just want to know who could be coming and going from our defence.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - I am not going to do that - it will just attract grief.}

Is there any truth in the Ross Barkley rumours Ed's?

Believable6 Unbelievable19

{Ed001's Note - what Ross Barkley rumours?}

As much as I wish we could steal the best prospect to come out of Everton in a long time. It is never ever ever going to happen.

Liverpool are still keen to sign Barcelona forward Alexis Sanchez despite an imminent deal to buy Southampton midfielder Adam Lallana. Without selling Luis Suarez.

According to the BBC's Ben Smith, Liverpool will pursue a deal for Sanchez, who has impressed for Chile at the World Cup in Brazil off the back of a strong individual season with Barcelona last term. But they may face competition from United, who are plotting a move of their own.

As much as I would like Sanchez mate I can't see it, especially as it looks like we getting Lallana, Shaqiri and Origi?

Ed

I've read diff story's today about Moreno. Do you think that it's 100% dead in the water or is there still a chance and still talks ongoing?

Believable6 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - there is still a chance, as I said on the Spurs site earlier, I was told they are holding out for a bid from them (meaning Spurs) as they believe Spurs to be ready to move for him. If they have misread the situation, they might well be willing to revisit the deal.}

27 Jun 2014 16:07:52

Hi Eds,

Quick question - I have heard Shaqiri's brother is at anfield trying to confirm a deal for him - Do you know anything on this or is this just typical rumours? Cheers

Believable6 Unbelievable8

{Ed001's Note - I don't know anything about that sorry.}

Liverpool have gone for lallana at £25m so won't buy shaqiri at £15-18m and younger, much to my disappointment.

Agree0 Disagree2

Why wouldn't they buy both?

Agree2 Disagree1

The 2 players are not linked are they Ed? Am I right in saying we are after both Lallana and Shaqiri as are different players?

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - yes, we want Lallana and a forward/winger type player such as Shaqiri.}

Do I think it possible to sign both shaqiri and sanchez

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - I don't know mate, do you?}

27 Jun 2014 15:17:42
ssn said unconfirmed reports that Liverpool have opened talks with barcelona over suarez for a fee in excess of £70m

Believable37 Unbelievable28

27 Jun 2014 15:41:06
I heard that also dan, I hope it's right although a little earlier than I expected with him only just getting his ban yesterday.?

Agree2 Disagree0

The word is that Suarez' agent is in barca today to discuss a transfer but reports say Liverpool have denied this.

Agree1 Disagree0

I would hate to lose Luis but the problem is that the press and opposition supporters would make his life a misery. Brits can be real mean biased bar stewards when they want.

Agree0 Disagree1

Ssn admitted that the source of this rumour has no connection whatsoever with either club.

Hi Ed
Are we still looking to sign a center back?
If so, is Lovren our number 1 target?

Believable11 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - yes and yes. I am not sure Southampton can afford to let him go as well though!}

27 Jun 2014 14:52:36
Afternoon Ed001
I, like you, would like Medel but do you know if we are interested and if so how interested are we

Believable2 Unbelievable6

{Ed001's Note - sorry mate, I would absolutely love to say we were in for him, but we have never shown any interest in him that I know of. We have scouted Chile repeatedly over the years and still never gone for him. I would love to sit down with the scouts and the people who made the decision and find out why we haven't. I will ask again though now, just in case Cardiff have received any interest in the last few days, as I haven't spoken to anyone there since last weekend. Fingers crossed they will say we have bid, agreed a fee and he is set for a medical, but I just can't see it happening.}

Cheers Ed that's a shame, do you think now that Can is the only DM we will sign?

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - yes, I don't see us signing another one this window. I don't think we can afford the outlay we are set for on attacking players + a left back and add more there. Even if we sell Suarez.}

Really? I can't tell whether your answer is sarcasm or your just deluded haha

Agree1 Disagree1

{Ed001's Note - ?}

Just one more question then Ed if you don't mind, would you say that we are looking at at least 4 more signings, a left back, a centre back, a striker and a left sided forward? Also maybe a keeper

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - we are looking for all of those, yes, but I wouldn't personally expect all of them to arrive this window. The club have shown already their willingness to wait if a deal can't be done on their terms.}

Cheers Ed

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - you are welcome.}

27 Jun 2014 14:18:45
Sly sports says Lallana is heading to Liverpool for a medical. Soory Eds I don't like to ask but do you know if Liverpool have agreed to meet the asking price?

Thanks for everything Eds, especially through the farce that is Suarez

Crooky

Believable12 Unbelievable3

{Ed001's Note - we have certainly agreed to meet a price, I don't believe it was the full asking price as Adam himself has asked for the move to go through. Bit of a change for him, worrying change if you are a Southampton fan, as he was, and I emphasis was, happy to stay there if they were going to invest in the squad. Suggests they are just balancing the books there now, not looking to progress as they were previously.}

Thanks Ed

Much obliged

Crooky

Agree1 Disagree0

According to Radio 5live the fee was £25m

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - which would be £5m less than they were asking initially.}

ED001, do you think that has anything to do with the ownership being inherited?

It's a real shame to see their squad being picked apart like this, but I would love to see Lallana at Liverpool next season.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - everything to do with it mate. Markus was the one who wanted to invest, his daughter is not so keen as it is not her labour of love, so to speak. She wants to be financially sound, whereas Markus was happy to take risks and invest heavily.}

What do you mean being "picked apart"? The squads just simply relocating to Anfield!

Agree1 Disagree0

27 Jun 2014 17:24:46
Sorry, but your understanding of Saints finances is not based on fact.
The club have stated REPEATEDLY that all funds received from players leaving will be available to the manager to re-invest in the squad. Not my definition of balancing the books, which can be achieved through other revenue. Adam asking for the move to go through has nothing to do with it, this is a totally different situation to Rickie. RK has sanctioned the deal because he feels he can strengthen the team with the revenue.
It may be wise to see who Saints are signing to replace these players and then you may not only see what the clubs strategy is, together with the way RK wants the team to play. It will be slightly different to the way MP wanted to play and some of the players he thought world-beaters are not necessarily essential to RKs plan. I would have thought that supporters of LFC were well experienced with such changes.

Saints plans for progress have been outlined fairly recently, and I expect you will hear more from RK when he is up and running.

But not just balancing the books and certainly looking to progress.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - if you say so mate, but you are guilty of a lot of wishful thinking there. It was not Koeman's wish to sell him, he wanted to keep him. I will stick to listening to those involved over you thanks.}

27 Jun 2014 14:13:05
Hi EDs
With England back from the world cup, do you expect Lallana to Liverpool to happen soon.
Are we really interested in Shaqiri?. Depending on what you read we`re close to deals for Sanchez, Lallana and Shaqiri. Is Lallana our top target out of the 3? Also rumours we`ve up`d our offer for Moreno, you heard anything?

Believable5 Unbelievable4

{Ed001's Note - yes, yes, it is not an either or situation, nothing yet new on Montero.}

Ed you say its not an either or situation dos that mean we may sign all 3 players obviously with sanches to replace Suarez, thanks for the hard work

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - no, I am saying Lallana is not relevant to Sanchez and Shaqiri. It is a completely separate position he is being signed to occupy.}

Ed are u saying we may sign one or even more of the three, if so who do believe is most likely

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - well obviously Lallana is the most likely, but Shaqiri as well is not out of the question. Though I will not be holding my breath, especially as our medicals take so long!}

Hey ed001, do u think we need all the 3 players (lallana, shaqiri, sanchez)?
Shaqiri and Sanchez are both right wingers and I don't see either wanting to rotate with the other, since Lallana will probably play on the left.

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - Lallana can play centrally, right or left. He can also play deeper in midfield. I expect him to compete with Coutinho, in the main. The other two can play either wing or up front. I am not convinced we need all 3, but then, despite his 3 goals last night, I am still not convinced by Shaqiri. He is too inconsistent for my liking.}

If Sanchez is being brought in to replace Suarez, could that happen b4 Suarez were to leave

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - yes, just ask Spurs about buying before a big sale to keep prices down.}

Ed What position have we signed Lallana to play?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - as I said up above, I am told he is seen as playing the Coutinho role. Though Brendan tends to play such a fluid formation, with players often lining up in different roles, I am quite sure he will play a number of positions over the course of the season.}

Would be extremely disappointed if it was only Lallana and Shaqiri ed001. Both are very good players but Sanchez is exceptional. He has shown for Chile what he can do if the team is built around him, surely if Barca are willing to offer Sanchez as part of the Suarez deal there is absolutely no way any manager on this planet would say no to Sanchez. Just hope BR is not an exception to that.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - I would let Luis bite their hands off if it meant getting Sanchez.}

Haha ed001, hell I would offer each Barca player my hand to bite if it means us getting Sanchez. Opportunities like these only come along once in a blue moon. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Afternoon Ed's
Just been listening to this afternoon and they've just announced that we've agreed a fee for Origi for approx £6m, and we're very close to agreeing a fee for Lallana from Southampton! Even mentioned that a he's on his way now for a medical!
Good business if we can complete!
Keep up the good work!

Hi Ed's, ssn and many other websites claiming Liverpool have all but wrapped up the signing of divock origi, do u stand by us not even being interested, is he possibly borinis replacement, thanks.

Believable0 Unbelievable4

{Ed001's Note - I have not said that, I said I don't know if we are interested, just that Spurs are. I really don't know what is happening with him, other than Spurs having spoken to a rep.}

27 Jun 2014 12:28:32
There is a rumour that the Uruguayan Football Federation/FA will call Giorgio Chiellini as a potential witness in the 'defence' of Suarez. Giorgio Chiellini has made the shock announcement that he feels the four-month ban from all forms of football given to Luis Suarez is "excessive" after Suarez was found guilty of biting him.

Do you know anymore on this Eds? don't even know how that would work, bringing Chiellini in as witness in defence of Suarez. What a merry go round.

Believable6 Unbelievable4

{Ed001's Note - they are exploring all avenues to try and get him off, rather than admit to any wrongdoing.}

27 Jun 2014 12:52:58
h lols. I think they would come with another phot editted image of no marks.

Agree1 Disagree0

No one is saying he hasn't done something wrong ed, just that his punishment isn't just, specially considering the like of Pepe and Roy Keane getting away with severe injustices in the past

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - actually the Uruguay FA and Suarez and his lawyer are saying exactly that. As for what other people do, it is irrelevant to this. Just because one person commits a crime and gets away with it, should all people who commit a crime get away with it?}

I do feel a bit sorry for Liverpool fans but totally agree with the punishment. Some people are saying that Suarez should have a lifetime ban from international football and there should be no sanctions with regards to the domestic competition. For me if this was the 1st or 2nd time he'd bit someone I'd agree, but this is the 3rd time and he hasn't seemed to have learnt. Personally, giving him a lifetime ban from international football won't help. By giving him some hope of playing for his country again, it'll hopefully encourage him to change his ways. I do believe the stadium ban is harsh though. But perhaps some time away from football will allow him time to work on his problems without being distracted.
The fact that Suarez and Uruguay camp are trying to say that he hasn't done anything wrong is disgusting. And if I was in charge of FIFA and Suarez tried to claim he did nothing wrong I'd extend his ban further.

Agree1 Disagree0

@Ed actually all laws work on precedents so technically if the first person gets away with it every subsequent person should - having said that, there is no precedent for what he's done, never heard of anyone biting and certainly not 3 times

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - yes, I understand the law works on precedents, but the precedent would the laws of the game have been altered since previous incidents. So you can't talk about precedents, as it is not relevant, they are not precedents to the laws in place at this time. Just like saying the kind of tackles Souness made would lead to a red card now, in his day they were good tackles, it is just an irrelevant thing to mention.}

27 Jun 2014 12:18:37
.

Liverpool have agreed a fee of 15 mill for Shaquiri with bayern Munich.
This has nothing to do with Suarez, We always wanted a LW

Believable20 Unbelievable24

27 Jun 2014 13:19:51
Any truth Ed or a little premiture?

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - I am not sure mate on this one.}

Wrong again Harry, James Pearce of the Liverpool Echo and Ben Smith of the BBC have both confirmed we have agreed a fee for lallana and he's on his way for his medical now. Can the eds confirm this?

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - he has certainly agreed terms, not sure what has happened regarding the club though, other than it must be fairly close to being done for them to agree to him travelling up.}

27 Jun 2014 14:24:57
How would this be wrong, Are we not supposed to sign anyone apart Lallana.
Seems We are getting our targets for the Suarez fees.

Agree1 Disagree0

Maybe you are right Harry. If we are signing shaqiri also that would suggest suarez is going. I don't know if we would have the £40 million approx for them both if the fees are to be believed without suarez going.

Agree1 Disagree0

Looks like we are spending big to round out our offense. Provided Suarez stays, Lallana comes in and one of Sanchez/Shaqiri join, I'd say we have the best, most well-rounded attack in the league but I would have to wonder where defensive reinforcements would come from (Moreno is off the table, but I think he was priced too high anyway. I would prefer playing Flanagan there or taking a second look at Ricardo Rodriguez, Hector Moreno, Daley Blind, etc.) Really can't see us spending more than 50 million pounds w/out some high caliber players leaving -- Reina, Enrique, Borini, Suso, for example. Then again, Flanagan/Enrique aren't the worst choices for LB and Can is capable of playing left side of defense also.

Believable2 Unbelievable18

27 Jun 2014 10:16:33
You mean the same James Rodriguez that moved to Monaco for almost 40 million.

Agree2 Disagree0

Yes, they're reportedly looking to sell him for roughly the same price with Arsenal and Man United interested, was just wondering if Liverpool had ever shown intrest in him or Barbosa?

Agree0 Disagree3

27 Jun 2014 09:06:39
Gday Eds, is there actually interest from Liverpool in Daley Blind or is it 2+2 journalism? Would you expect Rojo or who to be next target for LB?

Believable2 Unbelievable7

{Ed001's Note - there was interest in Blind, we had him watched, Commolli actually decided against signing back when he was at the club, interestingly enough. We have kept tabs on him since. As far as I am aware, that is as far as it has gone. I am not aware of any move to bring him in this summer.}

27 Jun 2014 11:28:59
Thanks Ed001, who would you pick between Blind & Rojo? I'm starting to spend the Suarez money in my head already so hope we'll get better than Bertrand.

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - I haven't seen enough of either to really be able to choose. If I were to go on what little I have seen, Blind looks more technically capable and can play a defensive midfield role as well, while Rojo looks a lot faster and stronger. I would take both! Rojo could also cover the centre backs, if I am remembering correctly. I would probably take Rojo, pace seems more useful in our system.}

Funny, I was just scribbling down an imaginary squad for next season and had to include both because Agger, Cissoko & possibly Enrique could be lost from last season's squad. Both would be lovely since they're both versatile and it's the name of the game for BR these days.

Agree1 Disagree0

I thought Rojo was a central defender?.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - he plays left back as well.}
