BR needs to go for Thiago from Barca, could be available for £15mill, whether he would come to us is another matter but would be a great signing

alan50 {Ed002's Note - It is not eve being an option. There has been a mass of activity in recent days, and Liverpool really are not involved in this at all.}

Believable7 Unbelievable34

There is not a snowballs chance in hell of Thiago joining us. {Ed030's Note - I think if Thiago moves it will be to Bayern or Man Utd. }

Agree0 Disagree0

Hopefully its too bayern. I don't want those mancs finally getting there hands on a good midfielder. Hopefully Chelski or Citeh win the title off them

Agree0 Disagree0

The thing to do is offer £20 million and do the same with Leighton Baines. Maybe we won't get them but it should ensure the mancs have to spend top money to get them.

Any interest in Diego Godin that you're aware of Eds? I seem to recall him being mentioned on here a season or two ago but nothing transpired obviously. Really impressed with him in the Confederations Cup. Cheers
Stanni {Ed002's Note - Not from Liverpool. Chelsea, Manchester City and Roma have showed an interest in Godin.}

Ed002, Do you think with Aubameyang showing a clear desire to play in England, do you think Liverpool will rival Newcastle for his signature depending on the future of suarez? {Ed002's Note - No - Liverpool has shown no interest in the player at all.}

Believable4 Unbelievable12

I would love us to go for this player. Has it all for me

Ed002, is there any interest in the PSG centre back Mamadou Sakho. Heard that he has stalled over a contract extension, and with the arrival of Laurent Blanc as PSG's new manager he may be forced down the pecking order. Is there any real interest in the player? I think he'd be just as good maybe even better than Papadopolous {Ed002's Note - Sakho is on the list of targets for Monaco. Arsenal and Lyon have sustained interest in Sakho and there is some interest from Newcastle, Inter Milan, Manchester City and possible interest lingering interest from Real Madrid and Barcelona. PSG are not keen on selling.}

Hi Eds,

Anyone got an interest in Bruma of the Portugal U20 side? Looks a good young player. {Ed002's Note - There has been interest in Bruma from Bayern Munich and Manchester United but he intends not to move just yet.}

Anzhi Makhachkala have attempted to hijack Liverpool and Borussia Dortmund's pursuit of Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan, with a 35m bid that is well above his release clause, according to Russian daily Izvestia.

Believable11 Unbelievable40

If 25m is his release clause why would they pay above that if Shakhtar have to accept 25m at a minimum?

Surely they could use that extra 10m on offering him wages and performance bonuses as once 25m is offered then it's up to the player to decide? If Liverpool and Dortmund offer 25m Shakhtar still have to contractually accept if it's his minimum release clause? Don't believe for a second they offered 35m. {Ed002's Note - Put aside any thought of release clauses etc..}

Agree0 Disagree0

Let them have him

Agree0 Disagree0

---but also the Anzi said that Mkhitaryan has his heart set on Liverpool.
CR

Agree0 Disagree0

A lot of fans are excited by this fella and his stats speak for themself, the goals he scored despite the league is impressive. But if he does sign for another club I'm sure Liverpool do have other targets.

JA89

Agree0 Disagree0

Shakhtar would take the money and run before the ink dried.

Anzi wouldn't outbid Dortmund almost 2-1

Agree0 Disagree0

It's because he doesn't have a release clause. If a foreign team has a bid in for a player, then a domestic (and therefore rival) team wants the player, they will have to offer more for a bid to be accepted. This happens in every league in the world. You don't help your rivals to build a team without some sort of recompense.

Agree0 Disagree0

But there not in the same league? Ukrainian and Russian and German and English?

Ed002, do you still expect that a deal for Mkhitaryan will be brokered? Also, how serious is Dortmund's interest in the player? Do you see either of LFC or BVB being willing to meet SD's £25m asking price?

Lastly, you've said that we are 5m euros apart with Sporting as regards Ilori. What in your view would be the likely common ground in this deal? {Ed002's Note - (a) Dortmund has made an offer with a number of caveats, so they are serious. Liverpool know what they need to do financially. It could certainly still happen. (b) I don't want to get in to the money but if Liverpool want the player they will need to offer more than they have. I am comfortable a deal can be made.}

Believable14 Unbelievable9

Ed are you pretty sure Dortmund made an offer?
I don't doubt your info for a second as you are the most informative of the editors but I just find it odd as you told they had backed off Bernard as they thought he was too costly. Now I am pretty sure Mkhi will cost atleast 10 million more than Bernard so that is why it seems a little susceptible. {Ed002's Note - I did not say that backed off Bernard because he was too costly (e.g. because they could not afford him), but the back off because the thought the price being asked was too expensive for him (e.g. they did not value him as high as the price being asked.}

Agree0 Disagree0

So Liverpool need to offer more money than they are currently willing to do?
You imagine Liverpool will pay the fees, but will it happen soon or drag on? {Ed002's Note - ICAQAT.)

Agree0 Disagree0

Anzhi from Russia 35 million bid being put together . Another target down the drain

Agree0 Disagree0

So what if Anzhi are putting that big together? Same as if it was QPR in The Championship, why go there? Money ain't everything - as is well proven.

It seems clear he wants out of Ukraine and that it will be us, Dortmund or another (top 4) EPL team that gets him.

£25m is a hell of a lot to replace Downing, but replace him we must.

Agree0 Disagree0

They also bid over 200 for messi but he never went there a bit to soon to be saying another target down the drain

Agree0 Disagree0

Hi eds, you may not be able to answer this but do we actually know if the player is open to playing for a non champions league team I.e Liverpool or would an offer from a team in the champs league essentially leave LFC without a hope of signing him - thanks nick {Ed030's Note - He looks willing to do a deal with Liverpool mate. }

Agree0 Disagree0

Maybe the anzhi bid is made up 2 get clubs to bid {Ed030's Note - I do Love these smokescreen Theories. }

Agree0 Disagree0

Sounds promising ed30 - keep our fingers crossed. Nick

Ed002 Just out of interest has anyone inquired about A.Sanchez? {Ed002's Note - Attempts to buy Sanchez in the summer were met by a 40M euro asking price although I suspect 25-30M euro will be nearer to what will be paid in summer for him - or there remains the chance of a trade. Juventus spoke with Barcelona about Sanchez but it came to nothing. Inter put together a rather ambitious loan-to-buy deal for Sanchez but Barcelona are need of the cash. There then remains a possible part exchange with Roma for Marquinhos.}

Believable6 Unbelievable12

Liverpool look to be putting a bid in for him it looks like it sterling plus 15 million for him could be the break through

Agree0 Disagree0

What the hell are you talking about, I hope u are joking. I would like to see Sanchez at LFC but 15mil plus one of our greatest youngsters is ludicrous and I frankly believe you have no idea what your talking about.

RedjavRedjav

Agree0 Disagree0

Liverpool are also after stoke city star there best player ryan shotton get him on the throws for 5 million

Agree0 Disagree0

Redjav while the op is clearly clueless, if you wouldn't take Sanchez for 15m plus Sterling you're also mad!

Agree0 Disagree0

Redjav is spot on if he is available for 25-30million like ED suggested that would mean we value sterling at 10 million which is ridiculous considering the potential the lad clearly has

Agree0 Disagree0

Potential? You're buying a ready made product, a quality one for €10m.

Agree0 Disagree0

Some sample Transfer market estimates
Alexis Sanchez 26m euro
Raheem Sterling 11.5m euro
Alvaro Morata 9m euro

So, whilst I think we'd be crazy stupid to sell sterling at this point of his development, the reality is the Sterling plus 15m euros for Alexis Sanchez would be a market value deal.

Any interest in Bafetimbi Gomis? {Ed002's Note - Bafetimbi Gomis has attracted a number of low offers from Bayer Leverkusen, Dinamo Moscow and Shakhtar Donetsk whilst Napoli are pondering a bid I understand.}

Hi eds, jeremy menez of PSG reportedly wants to leave and could maybe be available for 8 mil, anything in this story? {Ed002's Note - Inter showed some interest in Menez but were put off by an injury and he would like a return to Monaco but they are not showing an interest.}
