If juventus sign Matuidi as expected, will they end their chase of Emre?

Believable7 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - yes, it is one or other for them. They would prefer Can but are not willing to meet our asking price for a player coming to the end of his contract.}

27 Jul 2017 15:02:09
Great news eds. Would you then expect this to change his thinking of a new contract and sign?

Agree2 Disagree1

{Ed001's Note - I don't know, but probably not as money is not the issue, it is playing time.}

27 Jul 2017 15:27:59
Ed just wondering does he want a specific role in midfield and is worried he'll be second fiddle to hendo?

Agree4 Disagree1

{Ed001's Note - he wants to play regularly, especially with a world cup coming up. He is not bothered if it is the deep role or the more advanced role, he just wants to play. There is more than just the return of Hendo to worry him, there is the fact Couts (if staying) is likely to play deeper a lot of the time. There is the attempts to sign Oxlade-Chamberlain and Keita, who would both want a berth in the centre. Then there is Robertson coming in, meaning Milner will also be vying for a spot there.}

27 Jul 2017 15:39:20
Plus Lallana and Wijnaldum ed. When you think about it, it makes zero sense trying to bring Keita in at all imo?

Agree3 Disagree5

{Ed001's Note - I have said that some need to go anyway.}

27 Jul 2017 15:40:28
Ed001 does this mean Robertson should be a starter come September? I was assuming he was a potential starter but not necessarily above Milney in the pecking order.

Agree4 Disagree1

{Ed001's Note - he should be yes. Milner got worse as the season went on, as he offered no threat teams got at him more, so he sat back deeper, offering less threat and allowing himself to be got at more and so on.}

27 Jul 2017 15:42:51
Hi Eds, I'm perplexed that players can demand for playing time. Will it be something like a clause included in the contract or just some sort of a verbal agreement? If every player demands a certain number of playing minutes, then what's the point of having training sessions to see who deserves a starting position in the team? I mean, if a player is guaranteed playing time, then he could end up being lazy. Also, form is another thing. If a player is not at his best, then he should be dropped. Simple as that. So, what I mean is, Can should make it difficult for Klopp by being at the top of his game. If he's good enough, surely he'll get the minutes. Just my thoughts.

Agree5 Disagree4

{Ed001's Note - I understand what you are saying, but if you see your manager spending a potential 70+m on a player who plays in your position, spends a record fee on another player so he can move the best player in the team into your position and the captain and vice-captain are also rivals for a place, would you not fear for your chances of a game?}

27 Jul 2017 15:46:07
If he's as good as where told he is then he plays doesn't he.

He's really going to leave Liverpool because of challenge for places and expect to play every week for juventus? Like seriously.

The lads ok, far from this wonder where getting led to believe he is.

You don't get guaranteed playing time at any top club. He hasn't done enough to earn it in 3 years at the club, hence why he isn't a starter.

He's not a patch on our boy hendo, but if he was leaving you would all be kissing the heavens. Shame.

See ya can lad. Not bothered either way, in MY opinion. Simply not good enough.

Agree4 Disagree17

{Ed001's Note - if you look at the options he is competing with, then you would also have fears. Juve would pick him every week.}

27 Jul 2017 15:58:55
Ed is there any other Midfield player we are possibly open to selling or interest in at this time please that you are aware of?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - Spurs would take Lallana but that is about it that is currently even a potential move.}

27 Jul 2017 16:10:06
But you can't justify running away because things are going to get tough.

There's always going to be competition that's what keeps you on your toes. Worker hard and faster than all of the others every week in training. Making the manager have no other choice but to play you.

Hendo could potentially be out sometime next year. There will be opportunities. Klopp likes him as pretty much plays him whenever fit.

Think it's cowardly myself.

Agree1 Disagree20

{Ed001's Note - you need help if you think it is cowardly to go to Juve and win trophies playing regularly in a world cup year and ensure you have every chance of getting in that German team. It is not running away to have the intelligence to see that the manager is planning for a future without you in the side. Some of these comments are just ridiculous.}

27 Jul 2017 16:18:52
Whatever happened to the days of any player fighting and pushing themselves to the very limit of their potential rather than looking for an agreement on a basis of playing time and their preferred position? In my opinion if you think your good enough go and prove it during training and do the same and more on the playing field and if someone comes in and performs better than you in that same position fight to get your place back. Ok we are well overstocked in many areas but competitiveness on and off the field should help improve a squad better rather than comparing contract sizes as in today's game.
I get where players are coming from these days and like Can as a footballer but when push comes to shove sometimes players need their ego brought into check and told how it is and how it's going to be and if they don't like that sadly it would be time to look to move elsewhere.

Agree1 Disagree3

{Ed001's Note - it doesn't work like that any more. If a club spends a record fee, that player is going to play.}

27 Jul 2017 16:20:59
Ed are players always aware of who the Manager is trying to sign? Like Can being aware of Keita? Is it discussed in team meetings or anything to gauge what the team think on potential arivals?

Agree0 Disagree3

{Ed001's Note - no but he would have to live under a rock not to know.}

27 Jul 2017 16:26:58
If coutinio is going to leave we seriously need to keep hold of lallana. After cout's he is the guy that makes things happen.

Agree4 Disagree2

27 Jul 2017 16:38:21
If the guy can't get a game at Liverpool then why does he think he will at juventus? Juventus probably at a slightly higher level than us last year. Well they were in ucl final. I can understand his thinking of course with world cup coming up but I reckon he could live to regret it if he goes. We have been more patient with him than they will in Italy. That said he is getting better all the time. I hope he stays or we will have to find someone else as that'll be 2 holding midfielders gone this year with none coming in.

Agree2 Disagree5

{Ed001's Note - because they want him to sign for them, whereas we are signing replacements.}

27 Jul 2017 17:16:45
I was looking at last season's matches and Emre did ok on game time and I think it would be the same this season
Lfc games 47
In squad 41
Started 31
Played 90 minutes 25
Taken off 6
On the bench 10
Used sub 9
Unused sub 1
All in a season when we had no European football and knocked out of the fa cup in the forth round.
I know they want NK but I don't think it's going to happen so he would get game time. I would like him to stay but if he wants guarantees of game time I would let him go because you can't start that or every player will want guarantees. You train hard and play well you start, simple.

Agree17 Disagree0

27 Jul 2017 17:43:00
His play time doesn't tell the whole story BR. He was benched for the first part of the season and it was only injuries that brought him into a starting berth. He was not great for quite a while, with only perhaps the last quarter of the season showing any kind of good form.

Agree2 Disagree3

27 Jul 2017 18:10:44
Reading this thread I realise just how under rated Can and his potential is! I always feel confident when he is in the starting 11.
I could be wrong but I don't think it's the wording of the contract or contractual guarantees but at least to feel wanted and part of the plans for future squad, rather than back up in case of an injury.
Hope he stays personally! Great player and still improving in my opinion.

Agree9 Disagree1

27 Jul 2017 18:23:29
Emre can is better suited for the Italian league also. He will have time to dwell on the ball, where ad in the prem he's getting closed down and makes a bad pass or mistake.

Agree8 Disagree3

27 Jul 2017 18:25:09
You said we need competition for mignolet, as without it he doesn't fear for his place.

It is running away when you say he is getting off because Liverpool are signing players and he doesn't think he's going to play.

Hendo knows where signing those players and itsnt getting off.

Every single manager tried to replace carra. He didn't get off

Sturridge is staying and fighting for his place. We have signed another up front, well two more.

That's what top teams do.

So next year when juventus sign someone like we know they will do, is can moving again?

It doesn't matter what juventus say, if he doesn't perform he doesn't play. He's not getting a guarantees starting place for the remainder of his career. No-one has that.

He wants to win trophies then teams need to get stronger, usually by signing players. This is wants that entails. Staying your absolute best, training hard, keeping in absolute tip top condition. Winning and owning your place.

I'll say it again but that's all hendo has ever done. Makes himself undropabble. Doesn't matter who we sign that lad give 1500% each and ever game and makes it so he can't be out the team. That's a fighter

What your doing is justify a player not willing to stake his claim and fight for his place. So what if klopp wants rid, make him eat his words. It's not a sakho situation where klopp done with ya. He plays can alot. Usually if he's fit he's playing. This could be klopp just seing what he's made of. Klopps entire team is built around spirit and fight, he needs it where you stop for even a second and your out. He's never going to have it where a player isn't fearing for there starting positions, that's how he's going to get your all every game. No good asking a player to give his all and then he thinks actually there s no-one else to take my place so I can walk here, he has to play me.

Can like every player isn't in the starting team come opening day. There all earning it right now. Go and show him who you are. Don't run away. which plain and simply is what can is thinking of doing.

Agree12 Disagree6

27 Jul 2017 18:25:34
Anybody interested in Milner ed?

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - No and Liverpool are not looking to sell.}

27 Jul 2017 18:32:52
Emre wasn't benched to start the season. He reported to training later than most and picked up a knock. It's true that he didn't pick it up until maybe January but he was still getting fit.

Agree9 Disagree0

27 Jul 2017 18:30:11
I get what you're saying ed. Klopps building something that he doesn't seem to be involved in. In that case who can blame him. This makes me think we will sign kieta. Dunno why exactly. Salah deal makes his place less certain. Possible kieta deal makes it even less so but if we don't get him and coutinio leaves then there is no change, could this be why liverpool are umming and ahing over can contract?

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed001's Note - Liverpool are not, he was offered one but has not signed it yet.}

27 Jul 2017 18:59:40
I see Eds position, Hendo is obviously Cans direct competition in the deeper role (and hopefully has less injuries this season), then in addition you have potentially NK coming in as well. Perhaps Can sees that as a message he's not core to Klopps future plans at the base of midfield.

Only argument I can see against that would be if we plan on playing 4-2-3-1 more often, in which case Hendo, NK and Can can all compete for 2 slots. Looks a well balance side with any of those behind an attacking midfield of Mane, Coutinho and Salah and Firmino upfront.

Agree8 Disagree1

27 Jul 2017 18:31:00
Cool. Cheers man.

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Jul 2017 19:24:50
Just as I stated previously. I don't think we need Keita!

Agree3 Disagree5

27 Jul 2017 20:26:37
Can played most of the last season carrying an injury.

The last six were was the first time he was fully fit.
It was obvious that it made a huge difference to the lads performances,

Be was one of the main reasons we made top 4, including scoring one of the goals of the season.

Agree7 Disagree0

27 Jul 2017 20:58:05
End of the day. Are you going to fight yourself into the team or run away with your tail between your legs.

Going off incoming, every single player could think therebgetting replaced and run away for a move.

Hendo was like a piece of glass last year and now a 80 mil player could be on his way. I already know hendo will be running g harder and faster than any sod there. His captacy is challenged at every attempt, his place in the team is questioned every injury. But the lad never give in. He wasn't wanted by br, but stayed and got so in brs face, he had no other option but to play him. Now he's captain. That's the culture.

That's what we need. Players who stick to fingers up to the manager and say f u im in this team.

I cannot stick by or even pretend to contemplate a player whose running to another club for guaranteed playing time, instead of fighting for a starting place where he is.

I'd rather he went as he has clearly contemplated it.

When the going gets tough and it's the 85 minute, pissin down, freezing cold, you just wanna get into bed, Netflix and chill. That's where you see what your made off. Klopp needs winners. No people who Are off with the first sign of pressure (and let's face it when was th e last time we brought in such a top level cm- we haven't even done it yet -) yet the first time it's done, another cm wants out. Lol he needs to go to stoke where he will be lauded and the big man. Juventus are richer and worse than us. Next year when veratti becomes available, they'll be in the mix. Will can be off then aswel?

Agree4 Disagree8

27 Jul 2017 21:02:41
I think the Italian league woild suit the lad perfectly well.

Agree3 Disagree1

27 Jul 2017 21:14:24
No, competing for a place would be as it was last year when he was genuinely competing for 3 spots between himself and 3 or 4 others. But now with the moves we're trying to make, the writing is on the wall so to speak. That pool could grow to 6 or 7 players where 3 of those (hendo, coutinho, possibly keita) would be default starters. That's not a competition anymore. Can't blame him for keeping an eye on another opportunity.

Agree4 Disagree2

27 Jul 2017 22:20:47
Wet disappointed in this. He should back himself to be good enough, not just expect a starting role. It's an attitude he should not have. All top teams have competition for places and if he's not willing to fight for a place in a team in our current position when we haven't even signed anyone yet I think that tells you all you need to hear. Massive shame as I think he could be special.

Agree2 Disagree2

27 Jul 2017 23:05:55
I wonder what some of you guys do for a job! Notwithstanding the fact he's been a great professional, improved consistently and scored the goal of the season ( and great hair let's not forget that! )
Football, like any job, its about opportunities, different leadership comes in, company strategy changes, the market's suddenly different etc, when these things happen you evaluate your position and sometimes you move on.
It isn't about being good or bad, its understanding when skill set is better placed elsewhere, amplified by the lure of millions and millions of pounds.
Can's smart, he'll move on, he knows Klopp isn't certain about him for a starting berth, and his competition is fierce, so why not guarantee his progression elsewhere. Look at Salah, look at Lukaku, look at Pique, these guys aren't quitters, they are just guys who could read the room and knew when to move on.

Agree6 Disagree1

28 Jul 2017 00:52:20
I like Can, I think we need a good pool of players for the number of games we may potentially have to play. We will probably have injuries because of the way our lads have to run, and players will tire, so I think it would be a mistake to let him go. All that said, I see Ed1s explanation and how the lad views it.

But, all this is apparently assuming we are signing Keita ( - and reading ED1's replies VVD, too) so it sounds like it has a good chance of happening then, or is it all just hyperthetical?

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Jul 2017 04:16:13
Hoody, you talk some sense! Great to see finally!

Can is wanted by Juve, in his eyes he isn't wanted at Liverpool as they are working on others for his role. Makes a ton of sense, especially considering he wants to be a part of the German World Cup winning team next summer!

Good luck to the lad, it'll be our loss if we let him go.

Agree2 Disagree1

28 Jul 2017 09:00:08
We don't want to let him go. He wants to leave.

Agree0 Disagree1

28 Jul 2017 09:27:07
With Lucas gone the only option to Hendo in the holding role is Can. 2 players for 1 position, 1 of whom has had a chronic injury. Given that and the amount of games next season why should he be concerned about playing time? Absolutely imperative that Can stays.

Agree4 Disagree0

28 Jul 2017 09:41:29
Can't believe people are having a go at Can for wanting game time. He's not "demanding" it, but as ed said have a look at who we have and who we're trying to sign. Would you choose to sit on the bench rather than play, I like his attitude.

Agree3 Disagree0

28 Jul 2017 09:44:25
Can only got games because of hendos injury. If we keep couts and we play him mid he won't start the big games. The deal should be for keita when RB are out of CL and try to please the club and player.

Agree1 Disagree1

28 Jul 2017 09:45:51
Really, if somene offers you a new contract, then OBVIOUSLY you are part of their plans? Then it's only up to you WHAT part you're going to be.

Agree1 Disagree3

28 Jul 2017 10:20:19
Isn't the what part what he is questioning though. People say bench but he may be competing to even be on the bench. With the World Cup coming and he isn't necessarily a safe spot in German squad of course he wants to be playing regularly. Ultimately if fans and managers want to be able to ditch players if they don't fit the style, performance etc then why are fans so touchy when a player says he wants to be able to play regularly and is willing to ditch a club to do it. It is a job, they are not fans they are workers and they have as much right to change jobs as you or I. It isn't ideal but are fans all supporters of whoever they work for or is that just a job they would change for better work, hours, money etc. If the answer is that you'd change your job because it is just a job then why should players be different?

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Jul 2017 11:29:47
People are confusing his motive as a lack of fight and desire. But if your boss is talking about dropping the team's best player into a deeper midfield position, as well as actively recruiting another sure starter in your position at obscene prices, then what are you supposed to think? That's not a competition anymore!

Agree4 Disagree1

28 Jul 2017 14:20:30
What you are supposed to think if you're Can is: boy, my team are really investing in the squad this year. It would be incredible to be a winner with Liverpool, challenging for cups in the most competitive league in the world. I really should sign this contract.

Agree1 Disagree0

28 Jul 2017 14:23:36
That I'm better than hendo and wij. Ones made of glass and I'm going to push the other harder than ever and take his spot.

Win my place

Fight the competition. which only makes better players.

Agree1 Disagree2

28 Jul 2017 14:47:11
To be honest I don't really rate Can in this current liverpool team, he has qualities but I don't think he is quick thinking enough for us . When he has the ball he holds on to it too long allowing the opposition to get back and defend . With the quick passing of coutinho, lallana, firminho and mane we need the ball to them faster and often .

Agree1 Disagree2

28 Jul 2017 21:16:55
No wonder it doesnt. If it were just him and hendo then maybe. But the club have made serious moves that marginalizes his role.

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Jul 2017 13:22:32
Afternoon Eds, is sturridge now expected to stay at Liverpool? It seems to have gone very quiet over his expected departure. I certainly hope he stays and gets a good run of games under his belt đź‘Ť.

Believable9 Unbelievable1

{Ed001's Note - he was always expected to stay by me, as he wants to stay.}

27 Jul 2017 14:40:19
I reckon this is the season when he's back to his best, if it is god knows this side will take some stopping, the amount of chances we make he could well be top scorer.

Agree18 Disagree4

27 Jul 2017 15:02:09
My sentiments exactly Ed001! Couldn't agree more Ruthless. On his day he is up there with the best in the league, let's just hope he stays fit because like you say with the chances we create with a fully fit sturridge on the pitch its going to equal lots of goals đź‘Ť.

Agree7 Disagree0

27 Jul 2017 15:04:39
looked slower than ever in pre season to me. reminds me of torres and owen after their injuries, some players never get that fast twitch muscle back. hope you're right though.

Agree4 Disagree9

{Ed001's Note - Sturridge is not all about pace, it is his touch, which is sublime, his skill and his feet are still quick enough to dance around a defender and create an opening. He just needs to stop worrying about using his pace to burst past people and concentrate on what he does best - scoring goals.}

27 Jul 2017 15:47:49
He needs to just stay in and around the box. He drops too deep for me. With Mane and Salah he shouldn't need to do this.

Agree6 Disagree1

27 Jul 2017 15:49:20
when we do put studge through middle if Mane and co put that ball in the 6 yard box or anywhere near it 9/ 10 a fit studge will put it in the next hope for a big season for him would love for him to get back to his best.

Agree2 Disagree1

27 Jul 2017 16:08:03
I agree Ed but his x factor was his ability to run beyond defenders and finish calmly. his off the ball movement was/ is brilliant. without that pace I think he has lost that possibility of being world class. He can still create openings but he is less effective in the way we play now that closing down and rapid counter attacks are our bread and butter.

Agree3 Disagree1

{Ed001's Note - but we don't need him to do that, we have Salah and Mane to do it.}

27 Jul 2017 17:21:49
But do we not lose out in his chasing to win the ball back, something that Firminho does fantastically well. Not sure Sturbridge anything close to that level of defending from the front.

Agree3 Disagree1

31 Jul 2017 14:32:57
But surely it isn't Sturridge or Firminho, it is possible to have both and Firminho's work opening up chances for Sturridge to finish?

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Jul 2017 12:41:31
Got to admit sadly I think coutinho is on his way out hopefully if he is we get about ÂŁ120m in the current climate, then it's all about spending wisely and personally I trust klopp to do so.
Here's hoping lfc's transfer window gets better from here on in.

Believable2 Unbelievable14

27 Jul 2017 14:51:44
120 mil in the current market is absolutely nothing. kyle walker is 50 million for f sake. phil is worth 300 mil by that valuation. he is top 5 player in the world. no other top 5 player would cost only 120 mil and yet we should accept that? an 18 year old is going to madrid for 150.

Agree8 Disagree11

27 Jul 2017 15:12:46
300 Million is a bit of a stretch, however, he is arguably the second best player in the Brazil national team, whatever bid is placed should reflect that.

Agree9 Disagree1

27 Jul 2017 15:20:27
Only 120 million josh? Really come on dude. I think in today's climate that is about right. Maybe a little more. I hope he wants to stay, if he doesn't I hope we get at least 120 for him but these deals have to be done In time for us to line up some replacement. Don't like the word replacement as Phil is nearly irreplaceable. But we need enough time to do decent deals. I guess we would have enough cash flying around to test rbl resolve. The Croatian Barcelona are offering sounds decent. If we could get him and kieta for Phil coutinio it would be okay.

Agree1 Disagree2

27 Jul 2017 15:49:18
The fact is, amongst talk of him being irreplaceable, that he wasn't our best player last season was he? No, mane was. Who we signed for 30 odd million. Of course there are players out there who could score more goals and make more goals than Phil did last yr (his best yr in terms of gls assists) who we could sign. I want him to stay but talk of neymars reportedly 192 million move has made people think crazy prices, myself included. There is sense in Danny murphy comments.

Agree1 Disagree0

27 Jul 2017 16:13:31
it sounds crazy for me to say that 120 mil is not a lot but if you look at the prices that have been talked about in the last 18 months then its really not. 150 mil for an 18 year old? 80 mil for pogba? 190 for neymar? how much was lukaku!?

On another note. it worries me that you don't know who rakitic is. He is nothing special at all and no better than what we already have which is why they are offering him. many many better players out there.

Agree3 Disagree3

27 Jul 2017 16:14:43
I agree random red. Obviously we aren't going to get 300 mil, I just mean that he should be valued appropriately given the valuation of the other current best players in the world.

Agree0 Disagree1

27 Jul 2017 17:59:48
People are losing their minds here. I love coutinho, but 120m would be more than a fair price for him. That would buy 3 players, admittedly the coutinho replacement wouldn't be quite as good, but the other 2 could displace players that aren't quite up to it. A great cd, a right back more suited than clyne, and a slight downgrade on coutinho would improve the team overall, and that's all i care about.

I'd hate to see him go, i really would, but we'd all move on and come through the other side a more complete team if it happened.

Agree4 Disagree1

27 Jul 2017 18:20:44
Great player but he's not in the top 5 in the world mate.

Agree3 Disagree0

27 Jul 2017 19:48:13
Personally with figures this season being thrown about just in Barkley and sigurdsson then what is Phil worth? As he's in a totally different league to these and how much would it cost to replace him? And what fee would he command next season? 150+ mil? I sadley understood with saurez why he had to go he was shaming our great club with his antics but just because Barcelona come knocking we shouldn't roll over they should remember who we are ynwa.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Jul 2017 07:03:05
Couts most important contribution to our team is not those wonder goals, it the ability to open up defences. This was noticed during injuries last year and was compounded by missing Lallana and Mane for large spells as well. I honestly hope we don't sell him but if we do I trust Klopp to know what's needed to replace him.

Agree1 Disagree0

28 Jul 2017 09:07:21
You cannot say 'Swansea quoted Everton ÂŁ50 million for Sigurddson and as such we want ÂŁ120 million for Coutinho please'.

Madness. Half of you wouldn't know what to do in a transfer window without looking at other clubs as a guide.

FML.

Agree0 Disagree1

28 Jul 2017 22:25:36
Improve week points in the starting 11 welshboydave you must be the only football manager player on here fella if Phil continues how he has over the last few years has a good world cup then what we offer in the region of 60 odd mil for a good centre back?

Agree0 Disagree0

As I said in another thread coutinho is worth more to us than Neymar to barcelona. No less than 150 million euros. He is right now our best player, he has been here a long time, the club are making every effort for him to stay and to build around him, putting players in place to win trophies domestically and abroad. The fans absolutely love watching him and to deprive us of that football (especially now that salah is here and coutinho can play behind firmino salah and mane) would be despicable!

Ed002, huge apology if this has been answered previously but there is so much written on here about Coutinho, Barcelona, LFC, etc, it makes a search almost impossible.
Have Barcelona contacted Liverpool and asked for permission to talk to Coutinho about a move to Spain?
Thanks in advance.

{Ed002's Note - They have been in discussions with Liverpool but I am not aware they have permission to talk with the player.}

Didn't the bid get turned down? So id guess until liverpool accept a bid they won't be able to speak to him directly?

{Ed002's Note - Unless they give permission.}

Thanks Ed002. Does that mean that paper talk of Barcelona agreeing a deal with the player are wide of the mark? Or is there some truth in that they have agreed with his agent?

Not probing about tapping up here, just asking whether there is progress with the player/ his reps to gauge how far advanced things are?

I know you're not a betting man, but would I be correct in saying a transfer out of the club for Coutinho is more of a possibility now than it was a week or more ago?

{Ed002's Note - I suspect his agent has oversetepped the mark. I expect Liverpool to resist any sale.}

Thanks Ed002. Based on reading the paper reports that are flying around, I'm really pleased that your assessment coincides with mine, as mine is based mainly on hope!

I think you mentioned a couple of days ago that the likely outcome of this issue is that we get one more year of Couts a la Suarez in 13/ 14.

Lets hope that extra year gives us as much excitement as 13/ 14, but with perhaps a slightly better outcome!

Revised expectations for this window? I think we'll keep Couts, get VVD, keep Can and not get Keita. On balance, I would be very happy with that.

Hi Ed2, thanks for all your updates. This site is always the place I visit to find out the latest transfer news. Liverpool have been meeting with Barcelona to discuss Coutinho on more than one occasion. In my opinion, if Liverpools stance is he's not for sale, why do they even bother having the meetings? By meeting them, I think we're encouraging them to put a bid in and indicating to the player the club will consider selling him. Also this is distracting the club from working on incoming deals. Is my point of view naive?

{Ed002's Note - It is business as usual. Clubs meet with other to discuss players joining and leaving.}

Hi eds. Looks although the field is open if want to sign Dalbert (or so papers say) any chance of us going for him now we've signed Robertson. I've been a Robertson supporter during build up to his signing but also feel Dalbert would be a better target.

{Ed002's Note - Inter is the club they have been in discussions with.}
