Blast from the past. Has liverpools interest in Konoplyanka gone now Ed? I assume it has, don't mean to throw random names at you either thank you in advance.

Believable1 Unbelievable2

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of any Liverpool interest from Liverpool since the start of 2014 (more than three years ago) and it would be fruitless as he is moving elsewhere in the summer.}

I see a French journo has linked lacazette with a move in the summer. Quoting arsenal, Liverpool and I think it was spurs as potential destinations. Can I ask if the eds are aware of any interest from lfc? Or is it just old news being recycled?

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Interest in Lyon's Lacazette from Newcastle and Inter has long gone. Additionally, whilst Guy Hillion has continued to extol his virtues but there is no support whatesoever from the folks in London for a bid at this time - so prior interest of Chelsea has gone. Barcelona, Atletico, Juventus and Spurs had him watched late last season - but Barcelona had another solution in mind for what they want and will not be following up. Juventus took it no further and moved to hold talks about another player and Spurs purchased Janssen and will probably not return for Lacazetter.

West Ham enquired after Lacazette's availability previously and submitted two bids that were rejected - but wages and the lack of desire from the player to move to a club like WHU means that option has probably gone. and are certainly interested as long as his wage demands were not too high - as they will have the money for transfers but are very much constrained over wages. Arsenal decided to asking price was too high in the summer and opted, for reasons beyond me, for Lucas Perez. I don't know if they might return in the coming summer. Lyon will look for at least €10M more for a sale to an English side as they know what they can expect from elsewhere.

He is not first or second choice for PSG but they could potentially turn to him if they fail to bring anyone else in. Lyon are very difficult to negotiate with and they may well see an Gallic shrug in response to any initial bids. Lacazette wants English money and Champions League or Juventus but two French players who have played in England have been providing advice that it is not essential to move to England immediately.

I am not aware of Liverpool ever showing any interest in the player so there is no old news related to him - but right now nobody else is seemingly showing an interest either.}

Cracking reply Ed. Thanks for such detail.

{Ed002's Note - You are welcome. It is certainly true Lyon would charge more for an English side and Lacazette would get more money, but right now the interest is not really there. If Liverpool decide they want him they will start watching regularly - and his agent is very keen to be doing some work with England. But right now there is nothing involving Liverpool.}

I cannot see Liverpool paying the asking price and the fact we have no interest in him says it all.

Hi Eds,

First post on the site. Must say its really interesting to get an inside perspective as to what's happening at the club on the transfer front.

Quick question about Markovic. Does he have a future at LFC? He seems to have been playing well under Silva at Hull and don't feel that he's been given a fair go yet?

Seems to me that he is the type of winger that suits Klopp's style of play.

{Ed001's Note - it is undecided, though likely he will leave. If I had to put money on it I would say he will leave. He is playing for his future now, either with us or elsewhere.}

I personally think it would be best for both parties if he moved on, its obvious that klopp does not rate him, plus we are being linked with other wingers who play in his position.

{Ed002's Note - It has cost Liverpool a lot of money and has been a disaster since day one. The club should have realised that he wasn't ready before spending far more than he was then worth (and adding to Chelsea's coffers as I explained previously) and even now are paying a third party in relation to the player.}

I agree entirely with that answer ed002, the whole episode has been a disaster for both club and player, I only hope Liverpool learn there lesson from this situation going forward.
