Liverpool owners have shown they mean business by securing a 12M deal plus Ryan Babel and Daniel Agger, for the Bosnin striker Edin Dzeko. Expect two more mediocre signings in Nzogbia and Shawcross to be concluded also. Leaks coming out from bugged telephone lines!

Allthough its still early doors I've been impressed by the way NESV have conducted themselves. If either dzeko, aguero or llorente sign i will be fully convinced! Also heard the rumour about stephen ireland from a good source, allthough the same guy told me he was a banker ta go 2 da scum in da summer! Would be a good signing though i think, maybe a swap for joe cole would be a good deal, what you think ed? {ed's note - not sure how a guy who can't get in a very poor Villa side can be seen as a good signing for us.}

You know what I hope we have gone for Aguero at any cost, because what we are doing now is a waste of time. What's the point in being in this game if we can't win. Let's go for someone truely class like we did with Torres and get it done.

I have heard we are looking at players like Bentley and SWP and a loan signing

I think the players will be a lot better than that.

Hi ed
could you please tell me why everyones seems to be moaning at torres, and loads of people want him to be sold.
if he was sold i think it would be worse for the club.
its not just torres who is playing bad its all the 11.
so please could we have some support for torres.

Ed for a Liverpool suporter you are very pessemistic.People Saying Aguero is on his way Dzeko could be coming. Llorente and Suarez are being lined up and as a Liverpool fan u should say it would be super if they came , but you are like no not going to happen don't thinkso. We all didn't think Meireles would come or even think he'd be close to showing up but he did. Tell you the truth. FSV will fund who ever they think will improve the squad. How do I know because in the Washington post they had Chelsea arsenal utd Liverpool and city and 3 players they would like to buy in the window Liverpool had Dzeko Young and Cahill.

By the end of the window one of Dzeko. Suarez or aguero will be at Liverpool

{Editor's Note: I don't think it is pessimestic to say that I doubt that all or even any of Aguero, Dzeko or Suarez will join the club in January.}

LFC are looking to sign Roman Pavluychenko in Jan but Spurs are trying to offload Crouch instead. Lots of talk down south of either a striker move or a swap of Bentley for Babbel. Watch this space but I reckon there will be transfer activity between Spurs and the Pool.

Hi Ed. Are you aware of whether or not the club are keeping an eye on what Adam Hammill is doing at Barnsley?

Would love for us to sign him back, but as he left in the Rafa days I'm not convinced Roy or Comolli will even know about him.

{Editor's Note: I do not think that he is being considered.}

HIYA ED - WE ALLKNOW THAT U ARE AWARE OF A NEW SIGNING AND THAT U CARNT SAY NOTHING ABOUT IT, EVEN KOPTALK ARE SAYING WE HAVE SECURED A NEW SIGNING FOR JAN, ALL WE WANT TO KNOW IS THAT IS IT SUM1 WHO HAS BI LINKED WITH US RECENTLY OR A SURPRISE SIGNING LIKE MIERELES WAS? ?? ??

{Editor's Note: You may be reading too much in to nothing. KopTalk in trying to justify you spending your £25 or so a year for a premium deal, turned to an elderly overweight Sunderland supporter and asked him what sort of moped he owned - so we have already signed Honda. I am aware of significant efforts by the club to position themselves with respect to several players - but nothing is confirmed. There we have it.}

{Editor's Note: So Torres is choosing the transfers. Could you ask him why he chose Christian Poulsen in the summer for me.}

but torres did have talks with the new owners when they took over and he was convinced into staying. they must of dangled the bait of a world class striker to do that. he must of had a few suggestions as to who would keep him here.

also got a question for ed. you seem to know of a signing for jan confirmed. can you at least let us know if its someone already mentioned on this site recently or someone else we have not thought of?

thanks
mikey

{Editor's Note: There is nothing confirmed that I am aware of. Certainly Aguero is not going to happen. Assuming Honda remains a target, he is just that (regardless of what any overweight Sunderland supporters tell you).}

Please reply Ed.Are liverpool even considering buying lorente or is it just a rumour. I can see the likes of tottenham snapping him up while we make anohter bad buy. is the lad himself interested in us?

{Editor's Note: I really don't know - and in January there is a good chance that he is not even available.}

Ed,

when does the window open, it is new years day.
i'm hoping for a signing early on in January to show our intent. I've seen the Honda rumours have gone quiet (a good sign as we are doing our business behind closed doors these days and not through the press), along with Turan (a favourite with Dalgeish I Believe) - think both of these would Improve our attaching intent no end and would provide the ammunition for Torres to once again become the feared Striker he was previously.
On a seperate note, Adam Johnson, who I wanted us to sign from Boro a few years back would be a massive signing for us if allowed to leave Citeh. . Super talented, early twenties and English with a great sell on value and the potential to be world class.

Any chance on these ED ( or am i dreaming)

timmo. . . . .

{Editor's Note: Honda possibly, my guess is Arda will not be available in January; Johnson would have to be a real outside chance.}

{ed's note - Bridge is no real improvement on Konch, may as well save the money and give Mavinga a chance.}

im with you on that one ed, to be honest im gutted roy hasnt even considered mavinga, looks good to me. i heard mavinga is going on loan, is there any truth behind this?

{Editor's Note: I had not heard that - but with Insua likely returning it makes sense.}

Ayala back from loan at hull with injury. that's good news, apart from the injury. i reckon, as do a lot of others i hear from, this lad should be in the starting 11 ahead of carragher and skrtel. hes a great defender and seems so comfortable on the ball, like agger. in a 4 month loan he scored for hull, makes him a goal threat to me, something that's been missing since hyypia left i think. ed, can you tell me how long he would be out for please? its just id love to see him play regularly along side agger, whom i believe is back from injury? provided roy has his blindfold off and can actually see what everyone else sees in players

{Editor's Note: a good player with talent - the constant injuries are an issue.}

being reported in multiple places that Aguero signed a contract extension at Atletico, so, unfortunately, this doesn't look to be on the cards.

contracts don't mean anything these days we all know that

Hi Guys. .

Just want to give my contribution before the new year.
I believe that we will sign only 2 players in January.
Lets be realistic, there will never be a complete overhaul of the playing staff in January, History suggests this.
So 2 players in and 1 player out - and some youngsters going out on loan to get competitive game time.

The 2 players we will sign in January will be:
Keisuke Honda - deal will go through in the 2nd week of January
Fernando Llorente - Last week of the window - closer to the deadline

Going out will be:
Poulsen - to Napoli

And that's all we can expect in January

Under NESV - Gone are the days of signing quantity over quality.

Expect to see more African players join in the Summer. .

NESV's goal is to wake the sleeping giant that is Liverpool Football Club. . Just as they did with The Red Sox. .
These are the best owners we could've asked for. Ofcourse, there isn't much proof that suggests this YET, but LFC fans will soon see the club being run the way they want it to.

Im a liverpool fan from surrey, know somebody high up in ipswich who claims nobody at the club rates conor wickham that highly. however they know that some people do so they would only accept offers for around 8 million. although judging by how badly he was talking about wickham im not too sure about him anymore, think we will be ok with n'gog, eccleston and n'goo coming through.

surrey! you sure you got your counties right?? not disputing the fact you may know someone from ipswich , but its the way you said "im from surrey and a liverpool fan and i know someone high up at ipswich"
to get to SUFFOLK from SURREY and depending what part of surrey you come from you will/ should travel through either greater london, herts, essex and then suffolk or through GR & kent! !

Now don't get me wrong it is difficult to see why he would want to leave Atletico Madrid who won last season's Europa League to join a Liverpool team that's struggling a lot on the pitch but looking at previous quotes from the Argentine my initial thoughts of "no chance" have altered. In an interview with German TZ newspaper Aguero was quoted as saying: "If I had to choose a league then it would be the Premier League, I have been a Liverpool fan for as long as I can remember and it would be a dream to play there. I watched the Champions League final and celebrated every goal as if it was for Independiente." There have also been quotes when talking of Chelsea, Aguero admitted he would love to play alongside Fernando Torres once again. This is backed up further by the model the new owners have set, young talent with big potential, Aguero is 22 and already considered one of the world's best strikers.

The argument from many people has been that we wouldn't be able to afford a player of his calibre; again I tend to disagree. John Henry has recently spent $187 million dollars on two players for his Red Sox baseball team and Damien Comolli has stated "If there's a possibility of us getting a world-class player, we will have the backing".

ed, i am 99.9% sure aguero was signed with the money we gave them when we signed torres. so when have they played together? can you clear that up for me? {ed's note - Torres was sold the year after Aguero joined, they played together for one season.}

Roy Hodgson is unable to get rid of the 12 players he wishes to replace, due to other clubs refusing to pay the required wages. Liverpool still have 4-5 spaces free to add to their Premier Leauge player list. Hodgson has been told that he can have the funds to sign any player he wants, subject to a review by the board. As Liverpool have players like Kuyt, Maxi, Cole and Babel, one or two have to be sold before they can be replaced due to new wage rules put in place by NESV. Roy Hodgson has also been told if he looses his next game his job could be subject to a review also.

There are 39 unbel for this, I am not the original poster, but I also expect the above to happen in the first week of Jan . These are not good signings I know , but very very likely.
I don't know about the prices but there is also a possibility of using J Cole as part of the C Cole deal.

please stop with the unbelievables please! these kind of targets are the ones we will get! its good to belinked with W.C players but lets be honest they won't come! most of them want at the worst europa football and are we in a position to offer that? no not now, we can't even put a string of wins togeather and everyone is pulling in different directions so what chance do we have? every big club has its history us manure spurs and arsenal all have a very big history and to dismiss these teams would be stupid the pre mentioned teams and chelsea plus man city are pulling away from us! we need to get a solid basis at anfield and build from the inside out! {ed's note - you do realise that Liverpool are still in the Europa League don't you? So that puts us in a position to offer Europa League football, in case you didn't realise it.}
Not next year is what the man is talking about ED {ed's note - how does he know? We might win the competition or finish in the places by some miracle, like a replacement for Roy is found and appointed. Players are not going to see anything other than a club with new owners that have money, on the up, with one of the biggest, most well-respected names in world football.}

I just had a wild idea. The majority of us want to see the back of RH, but we all seem to disagree on the new manager we would want.
We all want a young manager, with fresh ideas, a manager that would be fully commited to the LFC cause, would have the interests of the club at heart, would be a big enough name that could attract world class players.

Surely we should not look any further than our own captain, Stevie G, with guidance from King Kenny, as our next player coach.

No one can doubt he is liverpool through and through, he would have fresh ideas, instantly have the respect of many of the worlds top players, would refuse to take less than 110% from anyone, but to do it in line with the experience of Kenny to give him the perfect grounding, and the knowledge of how to successfully juggle the 2 positions.

You have to remember that all major clubs keep files on talent all over Europe. Keeping files does not necessarily mean they are actively attempting to sign a particular player - it's more a case of 'an hour's worth of reconnaisance is an hour well spent'.

That said, Liverpool are currently showing a lot of interest in the following young players:-

Jordan Henderson (Sunderland)
Connor Wickham (Ipswich)
Mark Allbrighton (Villa)
Aaron Ramsey (Arsenal)

One player we should buy in jan, who:s quality, 3million should get him, plays for Q P R, ADEL TAARABT, 21 YEARS OF AGE, HAS IT ALL

app he has unfinished business at spurs? as a hoop i would like him to stay! we have kyle walker here on loan and very easy to talk too, he said that he wants to go back and is very good mates with younis kaboul who was quoted saying that adel would welcome a return, i also know that nw and hr when he stays in town often meet up for a meal and adel is often brought up in conversation! so i don't think he will want a move to liverpool?

IF we do indeed get a new boss he would be more than happy with with the players that have come in, i think nesv will show the prem that there cash is of the high order an that they will splash the cash to show they do mean to take us forward.this is the old school liverpool way no news is good news deals done behind closed doors then we hear that's the way the pool. . . walk on walk on walk on YNWA WISHING ALL ARE POOL FANS AN EDS A VERY HAPPY NEW YEAR COME ON THE REDS LETS START ARE NEW YEAR WITH A WINNING RUN OF GAMES. . Just a quick comment on the links to buying HONDA, I havn't seen enough of the lad to form an opinion on him but there are quite a few people on here ed's included that see him as some kind of world beater! Surely if he is so good then he would have a better CV than vvv and cska, not knocking the lad but should we sign him I think it best to not heap to much pressure on him and not to expect to much! Hopefully a diamond in the rough.

Hey ed, when someone told you that Dzekos asking price is lowered, you said that he probably move to italy. But hasn't he send a letter to Man city to get him? Personally i never seen him play, but i prefer two wingers, LB and central midfielder. I prefer, A. sanchez, F.coentrao, Y.Mvilla and A.Young, Above all a manager.

{Editor's Note: I said that he has again mentioned that he would like to move to Italy and Juventus were originally in teh frame. He has not written a letter to Manchester City - but they too will be interested.}

I've heard a squeek here in Dublin that Robbie Keane is pushing for a return move back to Anfield.
Not sure if the club is showing interest or not, but Robbie most certainly is.
Personally i would'nt favour this, but i know he has a few fans in liverpool.

I will go to the bookies to find out what the odds are and let you know. . . . . . .I am serious about it! I think we will sign him!

Good man. I'll post my bank details on here so you can deposit straight in. .wait, perhaps that's not such a god idea. Did they fix Paypal yet? Someone on here made a good point regarding the Aguero issue the other day. With his likely wage demands in excess of £120k pwk, length of contract, other top players wanting parity, the expense would be astronomical (not to mention the fee). On top of that he is probably at his peak now in terms of sale value, and so would likely depreciate, particularly if he struggled. But don't let me put you off. Whatever price you're quoted, I'll double it.

mate hes only 22, it can only go UP! (his value) and i heard that NESV are willing to pay huge wages to 'stars', like this Red Sox guy who was paid 300k a week or something.

{Editor's Note: He has a boy out clause of £50M - it will never be higher if the new financial regualtions are adhered to. If NESV are going to start paying £300k a week to star players Liverpool will be out of business in a couple of years.}

SpanishChris

Good! How do you know that we can't afford his wages? How do you know that NESV won't break the bank to make this happen? Hold on. . . . you are SpanishChris and only you know what is going to happen, RIGHT!
WRONG. . . .you know nothing just like me. I am merely expressing something I believe in! Eat your shorts when it happens. You should have just disagreed instead of insulting!

{Editor's NOte: The wages would need to be close to £200k per week and the buy out clause if over £50M.}

Ed: Do we read anything into the rumours regarding D.Deschamps again being linked with the managers job and his previous statement when he turned us down, although he did make the comment that when approached at first time, " the timing was wrong" unquote from D.deschamps. Also any news on Andre villas boas. Also still confused why any rated "liverpool targets" would opt to get onboard with the existing confusion still regarding the managers position. Spent all weekend trawling the foreign papers (japan and Russia)for news on the honda situation. Went really quiet.Help Ed

{Editor's Note: Don't expect a new manager until the summer and Liverpool would not be able to approach any manager directly - they would need to ask permission to talk to the manager. Honda will now be preparing for the Asian games. He was back (again) at Venlo at the beginning of last week to see the game (called off) and to attend the end of half-season dinner.}

Editor's Note: If available and if we can afford him - Llorente or, if not, Hoarau
* * * * * * * * * *
But you cannot guarantee that either of them can play in the premiership, i agree that they are better and add more class, but in the short term surely we need someone we know can play in this league ed?

{Editor's Note: Then Darren Bent would be my choice. But I would still rather have Llorente or Hoarau.}

Llorente could surley adapt to the premiership, he's quality and a big lump with it, be awesome if he arrived with aguero. ha ha torres, llorente and aguero up top, now that would be beautiful

Just been told of source.Liverpool are bidding for Benzema is there any truth in this (hope so).also is there anymore news on torres going to city as there web page is going bonkers about him signing in jan

With the long-term injury to Higuain, plus the fact that a full recovery isn't even guaranteed, it's pretty unlikely Real would be willing to let Benzema leave any time soon.

As for Torres to City, that's just nonsense and wishful thinking. If, and it's a big if, Tevez managed to follow his mate Mascherano in manipulating his current club into a no win situation, thus engineering himself a move to Real, that may free up Benzema. But of course who's to say Madrid would want him? It's obvious that Tevez thinks he's great, but whether Perez, Valdano or Mourinho do is debatable.

In my opinion, which is based solely on reading whatever the players say and making a judgement using that info plus any pattern of behaviour, I would say that Torres is very unlikely to leave Liverpool in the near future. On top of that, if he were to go anywhere, it would have to be Barcelona, with the outside chance of perhaps Inter needing a striker in the next two years. However, whether Barca would be willing or able to stump up the £50m or so he'd be trading at is open to question, particularly in light of their balking at the suggested fee for Fabregas. So Torres to stay, Benzema to stay where he is, and Tevez to retire back to Argentina in a huff.

To all Red Fans out there, have a Happy New Year.
I believe we are going to have an amazing year in 2011 and that will be evident when we buy Kun Aguero from Athletico. I don't have any sources but it is something I am predicting from everything I have heard and read. I whole heartedly believe this transfer will happen in January and I am ready to bet on it! !

How much? There is no chance at all. I'd give you serious odds against.

Forget the rest Aguero is the only striker who Liverpool WILL buy in January, Torres himself has requested Aguero and the the new owners are working to finalise this deal as the major signing in january.

{Editor's Note: So Torres is choosing the transfers. Could you ask him why he chose Christian Poulsen in the summer for me.}

Hey Ed merry xmas! Have you watched pablo piatti? plays for alermia. don't know if anyone's mentioned his name on here yet but the guys is quality! wouldn't mind seeing him in a red shirt. only problem is his size!

{Editor's Note: Certainly Everton and Birmingham have shown an interest in the player. There was some concern over work permit status and if there is interest in Spain I would expect that to take pole position. But I agree that he is a decent palyer.}

Ed goal.com is reporting that Wolfsburg have lowered their asking price of Dzeko to 25 mil. Now that its lowered to that its now quite in thee realm that Liverpool can afford him. With a payment arrangement or Player plus cash is there now a possibility that Dzeko could be wearing a red shirt soon.

{Editor's Note: The player has recently mentioned that wants to move to Italy (presumably the original nailed on move to Juventus is still an option). Also, there is interest from Manchester City as well. I still think it is unlikely to move to Liverpool.}

Obviously you can't say who it is ed, but, are you happy with the signing?

{Editor's Note: I am sure everything will work out just fine. Just hang fire a while longer.}

I seriously doubt he knows anything. He might have heard a couple names but nothing solid. I just say wait patiently and hope for the best. If any big players come, I'd expect it to happen in the summer. Just hope we get couple top class player like Honda and a winger like Matt Jarvis. Also expect couple players to leave also.

{Editor's Note: Right.}
