Markovic going on loan for the season to Fenerbahçe.

27 Aug 2015 23:08:05
Gutted, he should be getting game time as an impact sub. He has the technical ability and will only get better with consistent mins in my opinion. He is a bit light weight but needs a few seasons to fully develop physically and mentally. But i'm no expert.

This seems a bit silly for me. I know our squad is huge but when europa/cup games kick in, we're going to need every player we have.

Best of luck to him, pity he couldn't stay in the Prem

Agree15 Disagree2

28 Aug 2015 01:06:35
I would have preferred to see him go on loan to an English club, its experience here that is needed not in Turkey

Another debacle by Rodgers has not had any chance of a run in the team what a waste goes from Europa cup player of the year to Rodgers plaything, another career ruined by a stubborn manager who thinks he bought a def right mid.

Agree19 Disagree15

28 Aug 2015 05:07:17
Markovic needs regular games, he will not get it here. I watched him break through as a 17 year old at Partisan and he was rated as THE top 17 year old in Europe at the time, I just don't think he is suited to the prem. We are disappointed Fenerbahce never qualified for the CL.

Agree4 Disagree7

28 Aug 2015 09:35:05
Bad business. Ibe is out of touch and Markovic could be given some game time but no, instead he is shipped off on loan. A player who cost us 20million. Will we ever learn?

Agree13 Disagree5

28 Aug 2015 09:45:52
Markovic came to the premiership a year too early and this stunted his development. As we know from Ed002 he was under consideration from a number of other clubs but all except us felt he was not yet ready. This has proved to be correct. so let's hope that the loan to Fenerbahce gets him back on track to be the player we can all see he potentially is.

Agree8 Disagree3

28 Aug 2015 09:56:47
Will he make the team there?

I'm no expert on Fenerbache but everyone knows they signed Nani (who is their own player and on big wages) and I know they have Raul Meireles and Diego who would both be far more central players but still very attacking.

I think going for a move like this would be confirming it is his transfer fee being worked on. If he was in the long term plans then a loan to a PL club where he would play is what would be of most benefit to him.

Agree1 Disagree3

28 Aug 2015 10:17:09
I get the impression that Br doesn't think he's physically up to the demands of the premier league at the moment. I would get in yarmelenko but not at the cost of stunting tex,Ibe and rossiter

Agree0 Disagree9

28 Aug 2015 10:32:07
Well Acered, signing yarmulenko is exactly what that would do.

Agree11 Disagree0

28 Aug 2015 12:13:01
Never given a real chance in the team and when he was given a start it was out of position.

A couple of years on loan then shipped out with us paying most of his wages.

Another brilliant piece of business

Agree3 Disagree2

28 Aug 2015 12:26:45
Absolute shambolic decision. He should be loaned out to an EPL club to cause our competitors maximum damage. Its a tactic used by the other top clubs but we seem to be very slow learners!

Agree0 Disagree2

28 Aug 2015 13:02:03
I would prefer to see him stay and used as a rotation / impact player, given his chance in cups and from the bench. I do wonder where the width will come from in our team this year. Failing that I agree a loan move elsewhere in the prem would be preferable. Fenerbache are a very decent team however.
The comments about his career being 'ruined' lack objectivity and really aren't too bright. The press releases around his loan make it clear that this is to ensure playing time and his continued development, it being the expectation he'll return to us next season.

Agree1 Disagree2

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool cannot afford to do that with players - and the players won't be happy. Liverpool has done enough damage to him already.}

28 Aug 2015 15:34:50
Ed002, do you think the plan is to increase his resale value or to actually develop him for us? I appreciate you might not know but i'd still be interested to hear what you think!

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Right now just to get him off the books.}

28 Aug 2015 17:47:28
IMO wrong decision to buy in first place not strong enough and can't see that changing. I am a very big fan of BR and am hoping this season goes well as much to shut up all those that mouthed off without giving him a chance as to see our great club prosper again, but this is a signing I belive he did make a mistake on and am glad to see the back. Would be better as a sale imo tho!

Agree2 Disagree2

28 Aug 2015 18:20:25
This is frankly hysterical. He is bang average, in every game he looked like a little boy lost.

I know it is en vogue to criticize every facet of Rodgers management but Christ on a Bike championing Markovic.

Newsflash: Markovic loan cancelled, plays next game, is rubbish, as always. Brendan gets slated for playing not very good player.

You guys truly are flogging a dead horse on that one. Markovic is simply a very ugly lady.

Agree7 Disagree11

28 Aug 2015 22:36:47
Very very very well said Almighty. My sentiments entirely. Yes BR has made some mistakes but even the very best make mistakes. This player is not even average imo and BR has clearly realised that and is finding a way to deal with a mistake made and credit to him for that. I support the decision I continue to support and believe in a very decent coach who is learning to be a decent manager and Whilst I say good luck to Mr Markovic I say it with a happy face though that he is departing after all his mistakes were even more plentiful on the field of play but seem to have gone somewhat unnoticed by a good few!

29 Aug 2015 12:01:56
The way I look at it the lad chose us ,we are to blame for not giving him a chance ,a £20 million pound investment shouldn't be going out on loan simples why buy him ??

Agree1 Disagree0

29 Aug 2015 13:24:45
He's had chances and under performed pretty much in each. How folk can say give him a chance and then many of them not prepared to offer the manager a chance niggles me big time!

Question for Square Tomato and Waro, do you no the situation with Gomez and Benteke please as both apparently missed training and Moreno & Ings had the Orange bibs on which is usually the starting squad?

Can you shed any light please chaps

About time Ings got a game!

Agree15 Disagree5

28 Aug 2015 09:25:34
Fencey. How can you say about time he got a game when we have only played 3. Who would you bench for him. let's wait until the cup games come around before criticising the amount of game time he gets

Agree7 Disagree7

28 Aug 2015 11:34:04
That wasn't criticism, yes we have only played three but he hasn't even had a subs appearance. I think benteke has done brilliantly and I think he's good, just I think Ings deserves a league match rather than waiting to mid September for a league cup game

Agree8 Disagree1

28 Aug 2015 17:56:12
That's fair Fencey. I thought you were referring to "game time" as opposed to "starting line up" and unless you jump to the different / wrong interpretation as clearly Red s 64 did, imo your point makes perfect sense.

I've seen rumours floating around regarding Borini, Is he any interest to Tottenham?

Believable0 Unbelievable16

27 Aug 2015 14:13:00
Eds any idea why Borini's move has taken so long? He been holding out for other offers or have clubs been trying to get him on the cheap? Thanks!

{Ed001's Note - no one is meeting the asking price, we have been holding on for that.}

Gday Eds,
Any idea what happened to make Son Heung-min available and a potential Spurs signing? At a reduced price am I correct? You had been saying a deal for him would be very difficult. Hoping they only manage Bolasie and not Son.
Thanks!

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - I am not sure he is, this story is really odd.}

27 Aug 2015 15:26:42
The clubs are still negotiating a fee but he is in London preparing for a medical. Seemingly his dad (a former player) has influenced his decision. What the hell, he's going to sacrifice playing in the Champions League just to live in London? Bizarre. I know we could never have hoped for both Son & Firmino, but this move would sting a bit. However, we should still be very happy with the Firmino capture, and the price-tag is nothing to be ashamed of imo.

Agree2 Disagree2

27 Aug 2015 18:50:03
£29 mill is something to be ashamed off. We could have got him for a lot less and even last season he did not show enough to be deemed a £29mill player, which is why everyone was shocked at the price. We overplayed for a decent player, who IMO will fair only slightly better than lallana did last season, which is not a good return. I can't see the future but I can see many cons about the firmino deal. I hope I'll eat my words at some point but I just don't see anything special about him, whereas son or even mkhtaryan would have been better players for these positions at lower prices. If son moves to Spurs, it should really mute the notion that you need champions league football because clearly you don't. I hate people using it as an excuse when up and down the bpl you've seen top quality players move to mid table clubs. Liverpool just seem to not have a good recruitment system or negotiater at the moment.

You can slate me all you want for pointing the truth. Does not mean we will not succeed or do well this season, just means lfc make poor decisions and other clubs highlight this.

Agree6 Disagree11

28 Aug 2015 01:57:16
'Only slightly better last season. '

Chances Created:
Lallana: 32, Firmino: 69

Goals/Assists
Lallana: 5/3, Firmino: 7/10

Tackles:
Lallana: 86, Firmino: 187

Successful Take-Ons:
Lallana: 30, Firmino: 140

Headed Duels Won:
Lallana: 17, Firmino: 74

Key Passes Per Game:
Lallana: 1.2, Firmino: 2.1

Also, we only paid 21 Million Up Front. The rest is performance based.

Agree11 Disagree1

28 Aug 2015 02:53:30
I would love to disagree regarding the price and the impact of Firmino, however it is going to be one of those "wait and see" deals. Then again all are.

Normally I would not be too worried with the price tag as he looks a great player to help us creatively, especially when he returns to full fitness. The reservation I have is that he will not be played in a role that let's him Flourish. Still think Markovic has something to offer and a large upside, but when he only got minimal game time and was chopped and changed and played at RB, he was never put in a position to succeed. Hopefully Firmino is not crowded out through Lallana, Can, Hendo, Milner, Studge, Coutinho, Ibe.
It is a nice problem to have, but only so many can play midfield/ supporting striker.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Aug 2015 12:37:01
Price is something that can ruin a players career, they have no say on the value that is put upon them, we the fans then start to remonstrate if we feel that we have not got value for money. Firmino is now a Liverpool player and I will support him even if he cost us a Bluey!!!

Hi edds

Can you see anymore players coming in before the window shuts?

Good to see balo gone!

Was having a meal in the Quarter restaurant in town earlier and Borini was sitting on the next table. I asked if he was going to Inter. He said yes, probably. He also said although he still loves Liverpool he just wants to play football now. He seems a nice guy, good luck to him.

Apparently he's still there - not very good at finishing.

Jokes aside, good luck to the lad, think he should have gotten the chance to prove himself at least but best for both sides now he takes up a chance at another team. Especially with all the strikers we have
