Lewandowski to Liverpool in the next 24 hours {Ed029's Note - I would think it is unlikely due to the fee and wages etc but he looks like a good player}

That would be fantastic but why would he leave the German Champs and Champ League Football for us. Also I read MU had a 30 mil bid rejected by Dortmund already.

This would be great but would undoubtedly signal the end for carroll. However this move is doubtful as united failed with a bid and that have champions league

Then again, united have an excess amount of strikers as it is. so regardless of CL football, regular team football wouldn't be assured. personally don't think it will happen, but would be an absolute great bit of business if we got him though. plus, adding class like him will only help in making sahin consider staying with us after this year-long loan spell.

If Carroll goes (90% chance) it will be for an undisclosed fee..

Cheers

Macca
{Ed033's Note - confirmed as the real Macca

In other words: too low.

But is that because we dont wana let m know the hit we are taking , is it all in overdrive now ? the bartering for players etc , id love david villa , 8mill aparantely
5gold stars

Wonder who we can get in. Thanks for the update.

Quigz23

Eds - how about other signings? is Dempsey the only signing?

So we can just presume, it was for 35mil and be happy:)

Won't the fee be shown in the accounts later on ?, anyone know .

To Newcastle?

So we're basically being bent over the proverbial barrel then...... ;)

27 Aug 2012 21:45:53
sounds like a silly move for the club. There'll be loads of speculation about how much the amount is, and that will echo around, and continue to draw negative press for the club. State the amount, buy a better player for the system (nor Sturridge and definitely not Bent), and move on.

I thought under the new legislation for player transfers all fees must be disclosed to the FA. The transfer can be listed as undisclosed during the transfer window only, The FA must disclose all info within the accounting period

I think who we get in to replace Carroll will give us a clear enough idea of how much we received

That sounds like terrible news. If his fee is forever undisclosed doesn't that mean it'll be for 10m or less? Is that the limit, eds?

SuperDuperSuarez

Makes sense to me. If the fee is disclosed, it will give other clubs an idea of how much we have to spend on a replacement, which could compromise our bargaining position.
It's not rocket science.

Robert H Goddard.

Huh? Just let us know if we've been rinsed!

I believe Ed002 has mentioned all transfers fees (eventually) are disclosed via some sort of searchable database.

I imagine it would be so we could do any potential acquisitions without the other side not necessarily knowing how much we have to spend. Seems pretty logical to me...

27 Aug 2012 22:27:19
i am personally gutted to hear this.

i hope it is not a big loss on the transfer fee we made for him.

he is a good lad and wish him all the best for his future.

27 Aug 2012 22:27:43
Not stop the Geordies though! They'll enjoy making us look like Muppets!
Thanks for all the info this window as always Macca, Ledgend mate!

Didn't he come on for 7 minutes and almost score us the winner vs Citeh!

Is that cos they dont want to show they made a hugh loss on him

If we can get 18m or thereabouts for him then i say we take it and move on. it didnt work out but if its done then we should just draw a line under it and accept our losses. The money we save on his wages too will be a plus if he is replaced by Dempsey/Sturridge even Huntelaar

hi Macca

cheers for the info. appart from dempsey that you mentioned is there any interest in anyone else? is there still interest in walcott?

cheers
Lee

27 Aug 2012 22:38:46
I hate undisclosed fees, it's a way of telling the fans you've made a boob somewhere along the line! Oh yeah, with Andy and his fee we did!
Would Dempsey be his (sort of) replacement or just an addition and are we still after Walcott? I think he just wants more money at Arsenal and using us as a way of getting it!
Thanks Macca.

Keith

To quote a wise old Scotsman, Carrol cost £-15m, the club have been paid to have him. Any return we get only needs to cover the initial outlay for Torres (-15m) plus we get a striker out of it. Don't know what the fuss is about?

27 Aug 2012 22:31:47
Hope we replace him with a striker of equal or better quality to fit into how brendan rodgers wants to play. Still think we need dempsey and maybe one more. 4 days to find out can't wait.

Brendan Rodgers clearly has someone lined up that fits in his ideas better than Carroll.

I still think he is a good option for Liverpool, think it would be a mistake to sell him, always have. Especially at the price - undisclosed or not it's not going to be 35 mill, or even 20 mill.

Hope he stays and gets a chance to prove himself.

Fair enough, rodgers is the man have to respect his choices. I think carroll will be a success wherever he goes if he gets played week in week out. Dempsey is not a replacement, i hope we are getting a good quality striker as well as dempsey if andy goes. Sturridge seems likely but is he really the player we need ?

Who cares how much it was as long as its invested well

If it is because the fee is low then i am disappointed in the club we should be able to set a price and be able to make clubs such as Newcastle, West Ham etc... pay out price as they would make us to for there players. We are one of the biggest clubs in the world yet being made to look like complete mugs.

I still hope Carroll stays - he's prepared to graft and he will improve. Can't see us being able to sign anyone better. Surely I'm not alone in this view, am I?

If we can take a 15m hit on Aquilani plus his wages we can take the same from Carroll

37 points behind City last year. Kuyt Bellamy & now possibly Carroll replaced by Borini (who should be good once settled). I hope the owners have a top one lined up. Listening to prospects and x year plans for a while now. Time to big up.

Jag

Stupid gettin rid of carroll imo.
fair1 hes not scored many but could some1 remind me of who actually is bangin them in for us? no-ones bearin the burden coz big andy misses a hat full. hang on no he doesnt get much decent service to utilise his main attribute. (his jumpin an headin ability) suarez however creates plenty fair enough but slices shots high and wide but when eds were sayin he may leave us lfc fans were devo.
sorry for the rant
cdo

Didn't brendan say the club wouldn't except anything less than £17million? Aslong has we find another 3 signings. 2 forwards and 1 more winger or left back (pref-vargas) and sell adam and spearing I'll be a happy chappy

Even if this is transfer is undisclosed it will be easy to see the value of the sale or acquisition through company reports registered at companies house. If its to a UK club.

Shepherds Bush RED

Multiple eds opinions appreciated on this.

My thoughts are: it's bittersweet as AC has potential and threatens but was both overpaid for what he's been used for and can only play one position/his development will benefit from leaving the regime where he is not appreciated.

- Logic {Ed001's Note - I really don't care about the price, we need a striker, right now he is about all we have, along with Borini. Hang on to him, or replace him, whichever I don't really care, but he can't go if he is not replaced, that would be madness.}

I hope there is a buy back clause when AC becomes world class. BR replacement will need AC

Just imagine BR statictism replaced by Laudrup's dynamism!

Otherwise the joke will last longer than our mistimed and mispriced purchase 18 mths ago.

Carroll will only want to go back to Newcastle. They will offer very little for him, 15 million max. Will 15 Million buy a striker that is good enough to play in Rodgers system? Also Dempsey is only worth 5 Mill Max (he's 29). Is Borini good enough? (Im not so sure). Will judge Our Manager at the end of the season.

28 Aug 2012 00:44:03
I expected this Macca, media team are much more on the ball now. Respect.

28 Aug 2012 01:02:38
was hoping Rodgers would give AC a chance - honestly believe it will be a major mistake if we sell to rival. It will come back and haunt us, also we won't get a better striker for the amount quoted.

John B

'To quote a wise old Scotsman, Carrol cost £-15m, the club have been paid to have him. Any return we get only needs to cover the initial outlay for Torres (-15m) plus we get a striker out of it. Don't know what the fuss is about?'

That's how id look at it if I'd spent £35 million on Carroll!

Newcastle have waited until late in the window to make a firm offer as they know we are desperate to sell...I always guessed Carroll to go for 10-15m...if we're lucky it would be 15m...Rodgers is making a big mistake unless he has someone special lined up to join us

Well maybe us fans should stop caring about the hit we are taking and look at it as money to spend on a better striker and not money lost. we will never see that 35 million again but now we can put the 20 million towards a top class striker.
derryred

Im hearing 9.5m.

I hope it is the 10% this time round. He looks good when he is on the field.

We panicked and paid 35M on deadline day, why don't we sit back and let the same happen? Pardew is thinking in the 10M-15M range now because he thinks we need the cash, let's let him sit and sweat and then panic when he realises his club has no strikers for 6 weeks this year, give us 17M now or 25M in January, to quote you're boss, we'll carry him there if you do.

1 - Carroll's go record is rubbish.

2 - He's massively overrated.

3 - Quite a lot of Liverpool fans have been sucked in to believe Andy is a good striker, he's not! He's very average and cost us a stupid amount of money.

4 - Typical of LFC fans to want to hold onto a player who Brendan does not want! Have faith in the manager and stop moaning, you're like a bunch of school kids. Brendan knows exactly what he wants and Andy does not fit into his vision of how he wants his team to play.

5 - I'll be glad when Andy goes and we replace him with a prolific striker who can score 20+ goals a season which Andy can't do.

If Carroll leaves, it's interesting that half of our shirt poster guys left. (Bellamy and Carroll)

For what we paid for him and what we get for him we may as well keep him till f.s.g have a good year then they can sell him n right him off on the tax bill

27 Aug 2012 20:23:07
My source within the club says Dempsey is wanted but Joe cole has to go first.

Also, spurs to land mvila

Cole can't pass a medical at the moment so can't be sold {Ed029's Note - Don't forget Andy Carroll arrived injured}

Dempsey is Carrolls replacement mate, hes almost gone, I believe we have had a great 'transfer window' (when its over :) and finish at least top 4. Believe lad, i wish we had these owners 10 years ago. Mark.

Juventus will make a last attempt to sign Luis Suarez

Hope they have 70m then to buy, after signing a new deal

Suarez will not go so Juventus can forget about it

Haha they might try, but it won't happen! Luis is happy with us, Brendan wants him to stay so he's going nowhere! Scouserseb

Not true, Suarez is loving the new style of play and enjoys playing for LFC. (Plus he just signed a new contract).

Kevin11

Theyve attempted every striker in the world , even the ones they got already!, new deal signed by luis .
5gold stars

When was their other attempts?

Why would he go when he is extremely happy at the club and wants to stay for years to come and has just signed a contract extension and why have 3 people believed it why are people so gullible also you wouldn't know as you don't have sources at Juventus

ON STAYING AT LIVERPOOL...
Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain were eager to sign Suarez this summer and made contact with Liverpool. As far as he was concerned, though, there was never a decision to make. Liverpool showed loyalty to him last season and he wanted to repay them.
He said: ˜There were clubs that wanted to sign me but my priority was always to stay with Liverpool.
˜I'm very happy here and when the manager said he wanted me to stay because he was happy with me that gave me the confidence I was hoping for. We trust the new manager and we're all happy with him. I'm happy at the club. I'm happy in the city.'
Luis Suarez

Ha thats funny dude, seem to recall a new contract being signed

The club who rarely spend big money, are going to go for a player who has no interest in them, and recently signed a long contract extension? But if you say so...

Hes just signed a new contract so dont be stupid

Suarez signing a new contract and wanting to stay doesnt mean juve cant try to sign him. they can try and they can fail

£100k a week Juve don't have that much money .

If they can afford him and we can get a replacement in time, why not?

If they can afford him and we can get a replacement in time, why not?

Because he's one of Liverpool's star players you tit, that's why not.

What a dumb rumour to post on here, the player and the club have openly confirmed that Suarez is staying, why would any club still bid for the player, please use this website to post information that will better inform all LFC supporters, not garbage like this!!

27 Aug 2012 19:45:54
Brendan Rodgers is still keen on bringing in Clint Dempsey - with £4.8m and Adam going the other way on season long loan (Adam wants to prove himself in Liverpool)

Erick Torres will be bought in only if a bid for Carroll is accepted, if not a bid may be made in January.

Liverpool are also considering a trial for young full back Maksim Podholjuzin (can play left and right back)

JMRED

I must confess to never having heard of the other two you mention and we all think Dempsey is still possible if not likely.

The Plank {Ed058's Note - I'm sure Dempsey will come in come deadline day is my guess}

Pardon my ignorance but who is Erick Torres?

Doha Red

Erick Torres would be a quality signing, don't know much about that left back but we could do with more cover

Who is Erick Torres?

Erick torres is a good shout future talent fingers crossed.

ACHILLES.

This is actually partly true, but Adam in fact wants to leave after falling behind Shelvey in the pecking order.

I agree with the Plank

The Tank

Interesting if BR does sign Torres from Chivas is definitely one exciting player for the future

I agree with the Plank

The Tank

I agree with tank

The Plank

Football manager is the only way you know erik torres

Ironically, signing Erick Torres would probably do far more to sell more LFC gear / increase the fan base in America than signing Dempsey would.

Give the number 9 shirt and we can all wear our Torres shirts again!

Myk

Erick Torres is he the young mexican kid, heard hes quite good!

YNWA jns

I saw Erick Torres in Jalisco, Mexico....I'm here getting cheap dental work because in the US it is expensive.....he is quite the talent....especially in person

Just heard from my cousin who lives in Gelsenkirchen that Liverpool have bid 17m for Schalke 04 forward Klass - Jan Huntelaar. We have met his 17 million buy out clause and he will arrive on Merseyside tomorrow for a medical.

AH

Sorry but I do think your cousin is telling porkies.

The Plank

Jackanory jackanory ...

If his buy out clause is really at this level then am sure a host of clubs would have already met it!!

Well if your cousin said that it must be true

He's just turned 29, no way the owners will pay 17m for him, think he's in the last year of his contract aswell

Really? Huntelaar is slower than me and i'm a fat wheezy goon

If carroll dosent fit the way rodgers plays how would huntelaar.Tommy irish Red

lfc are in talks with barcelona regarding the services off Afellay. it looks set to be a loan deal. the one thing that worrys me about these loan deals is the fact we lose these next summer which means heavy investment next year to replace these loaned players

Certainly possible mate but let's worry about next season's squad next season.

The Plank

On the other side of the coin, if these players (sahin and possibly affelay) help us get champs league and enjoy their time here then maybe they might just want to stay longer than that and we can buy them instead of having to invest to replace them

That's on the assumption that these loan signings do well! We will also have more money next season if the manager decides they are good enough for the team!

But it means we've added more players for this season than we otherwise would have, and we don't need to make the same additions next Summer. It's called building a squad.

If they help us to get top 4, which i am quite confident we'll achieve, then they may stay woth is or if not we will have more money and be able to attract top quality anyway, win - win.

Great call guys nice to get some decent feed back. im sure this is a genuin rumor

What does it matter if we have to spend money on players to cover loans going back ? We would have had to spend in the first place would we not ?

Rednick

1. If they help us into the top four this season we would have a bigger budget for next season.
2. We can't attract top names finishing 8th last season and not in the champions league again.
3. At least loans mean if the player doesn't work out they go back to there club instead of like the last couple of years buying british players giving them big wages and when they don't work out there happy to stay and collect big money (I mean fight for there place).

If we do well this season it might be that both Affellay and Sahin will decide the MIGHTY Reds are the team they want to play for, especially when we sign Alonso again next summer !!!!!!!

I would rather have loan players come in and cost us a fraction of the money that it has already cost us to baby sit the likes of under performing downing, hendo, adams, carrol
with a loan deal you re-inforce your squad to get you to where you should be then you can start competing for titles, BR is a master in the making

If i remember correctly we were linked very early in this transfer season with Affelay but then rumours died down, imagine the publicity LFC would receive when we reach top 4 with both a Real Madrid and Barcelona player in the squad

27 Aug 2012 19:18:15
Have it on good word that Carroll ( deadline day ), Adam, Spearing and Hendo (loan to Sunderland) will be out the door, with Jordan Rhodes and Dempsey heading our way ( Dempsey deadline day). The Carroll money will be spent on the squad in Jan. thanks.

Why leave all these signings and sellings till the last day if things are already sorted out?

The Plank

How can you have it on good authority that carroll will go on deadline day? is your source a psychic? all i can say is bull

Hey guys. I know there is a lot of fiction on this site which is great for entertainment value. But we are all reds fans so let's not destroy each other even when it's clear it's a load of bull...enjoy it and let's hope for a great season.

PS: Did anyone else think that Mariner had a really bad game & unfairly punished Sterling? Also thought that it was a clear cut penalty for Johnson, especially compared against the penalties given against us last game.

Think Rhodes worul be a great investment for the future, sign him & send back to Huddersfield on a season long loan, one for the future...

Think carroll will go as well it doesn't matter when. I think he will have a great career but we have a vision and he ain't in it. Also Rhodes would be great! His movement is excellent and that's based on instinct something you can't teach. Dempsey for less then 5 mill and wages of about 40k maybe less also a good buy. Mariner was pathetic at times and Sunday confirmed for me where going in the right direction.

Interesting that this post has a 90 percent disagree rate yet many of the moves mentioned are not only realistic but also make sense

Yeah. They're going to set up a turnstile at melwood to see how many people we can get in and out on deadline day...

Swish

HI All,

Rodgers wants Dempsey but the owners are unsure because of his age.

He has been told if he sells a player then we can bid..

Also not Liverpool related but i believe City, Chelsea and Spurs will spend big this week..

Cheers

Macca
{Ed033's Note - Confirmed as the real Macca

Should be up to the manager who he wants and if we sign him. it help us with the market in usa

Spurs are lining up Willian and Lloris.

Chelsea want Hulk and have to act quick to stop him going to Russia. £38 million

Hopefully they can clear out Cole, Adam and Spearing. Our bench this weekend looked rather poor, Dempsey would improve it vastly, hoping he isn't the only target though.

JAnder.

Is this the way we should be operating? Owners arent sure but if you sell a player it suddenly becomes ok? Very confused by things with the owners and who's actually making decisions.

So why did Fenway have on there website several weeks ago that we had signed him?
They need to make there minds up

I believe u mate. I always do.

Think the owners are getting a little obsessed with this age thing, if Dempsey can help bring sucsess to the club in the next three years that has to worth 6 -8m even with no sell on value

Cole, Pacheco, Spearing, Adam, Carroll, Downing. Rodgers take your pick, Could get 12mil for the 1st 4(really offer nothing to the squad) of the list and bring in Dempsey with change!

How does selling one of our players effect the concerns with Dempseys age ??

We need a proven goal scorer plain & simple.

Could it be that City will pay up what we want for Agger? That would get us Dempsey and a replacement for Agger by the way. Dont want Agger to go but surely we cannot pass on a offer of 25mil-30mil pounds?

We need a goal poacher and Dempsey fits that bill so if it means letting Agger go then so be it. He is not irreplaceable.

Red4Life

What if no one sells mate, will we still bring someone in?
Vik

Can you confirm if this means we there will be no-one else signed unless we sell or just dempsey cause of his age? thanks

Any truth abt Jordan Rhodes being looked at? wud be a gr8 signing..also how abt the loan deal for affelley? are we still interested?

I really hope we sign Dempsey, really underrated IMO and scores goals, Borini looks as though he is going to need time so an experienced PL player like Dempsey will be a great addition, I would also like to see Carroll given more time, the lad showed towards end of the season he can be a handful.... Big few weeks coming up forteam so hopefully yesterday's performances a catalyst for the next few games and beyond.....

The owners should back br regardless of the age of the players he wants demp is a grate player it was not br that wasted all the cash last year

Thanks mate.

Adam

27 Aug 2012 20:46:02
What's your thoughts on this Macca, would we still need to sell if he was younger? Do you know of any other players being looked at? Left back..winger... Striker....?

27 Aug 2012 20:46:32
Thanks Macca, does this mean chelsea are getting the Hulk, how are they following FFP rules?
Andrew

27 Aug 2012 20:46:47
Is agger now staying Macca?
Also what's the situation with Walcott?

27 Aug 2012 20:47:03
hi Macca thanks for the info just wondering do the owners want us to sell before we bid to raise funds or to get someone off the wage bill before we add another player to it?

Ricardo

27 Aug 2012 20:49:52
Cheers for the info Macca mate! Do you know if we're close to selling anyone?! Scouserseb

27 Aug 2012 20:50:06

27 Aug 2012 20:50:59
Thanks Macca,

But not great news. If we don't get Dempsey then we need someone else in.

No other targets then?

Jordan

Fsg need to look what united just spent on rvp dempsey is not as good but he is a grate player as long as the price is within reason thay should back the manager they just hired

27 Aug 2012 20:51:16
Cheers Macca for all the info. The sahin deal was ur best yet!
Jason

27 Aug 2012 20:52:36
Can we assume Macca that the owners are not backing the manager. If we sign Dempsey and we finish higher in the league dont we repay that money with earnings.

Rather short sighted view of the owners I think. Can we expect any other signings?

Chelsea will spend big? havent they already spent 80 mil?

i still hope we can get "rid" of adam, spearing and cole. also what about henderson and downing?

joet

Dont really get the age thing - if we are willing to take sahin on loan for one year, this effectively makes his career with us a season only buy, so what's the difference with Dempsey and maybe get say 2 to 3 years?
Red hag

Thought the owners would be keen to get an American in and at 29, Dempsey is not exactly over the hill.

27 Aug 2012 21:17:28
Any news on anyone else comin in Macca

Thanks

27 Aug 2012 21:18:19

That's very depressing news, I hope you have left out Arsenal on purpose too.

Let's hope Liverpool have a couple more signings in before Friday.

Daniel Narciso YNWA JFT96

The age thing is simple f.s.g want some money back off players they have bought not just let them go on a free cause theyre to old they need some sell on value buy young and cheaply then sell on for more when they become established thats good business ie ronaldo and becham great business for the club but not maybe for the supporters but these guys are in it for the money not the love of the game they are yanks n netball n rounders oh and burgers is what they like

27 Aug 2012 22:35:05
I think what Macca is getting at is FSG are unsure of meeting Fulhams asking price in relation to the players age. This explains why it's dragged on, when you look at the other permanent signings we met the asking price and the deals were completed comparativley quick. I don't think there's any question they want to sign him, in terms of the American market they would see him as a "Franchise player" who would bring interest to the Club in the USA.

Now I know a lot of our supporters would say this isn't a good enough reason to sign a player but Dempsey is a proven PL and International footballer!

Ed's I was thinking some of our rivals have stated to bring MLS players over in the new year, who do think we might look at if BR was to go down this route? Ged {Ed001's Note - from what I have seen, there is only one other decent player over there, Landon Donovan. The rest are just extremely poor or well over the hill.}

The owners say they're so into statistics, well they should look at Dempsey's; improved every season, started his career pretty late in a low-intensity league (mls) - he could keep going at this level for years. He'd be the perfect guy to have around to teach Borini and Sterling a thing or two about finding the net, every club needs some more experienced players and we've just lost Kuyt, Maxi and Bellamy so I see nothing wrong with adding Dempsey

Red Ollie

Have to agree with Ed a bit- Donovan is about the only other major name from the US probably worthy, but he's 30 as well (and pretty tied to Everton obviously).

Brek Shea isn't too far off the pace and could see him in the PL some day.

I spoke with 1 of the coaches from the academy at y'days match and he said Brendan isn't going to sign players for the sake of it before the deadline day. He said he knows that Brendan Rodgers has identified 3 strikers that fit his system that he would like to bring in but if none of them are available before the deadline then we wont sign a striker.

Gomis is being linked with a move to the premier league....??

In Brendan we trust.

eds now we are coming to the end of this transfer window just a short note to say thank you to all eds and Macca for all the valuable insight and time given to try and update us the fans, we are not in the know as some prove over and over but you seem to have a handle on whats going on, good work by the manager in sorting out the team. role on the january window so it can start again. ray3037

Have heard that Sturridge is being lined up as the next signing!

If we get him I'll vomit I particularly do not rate Daniel solo sturidge... He reminds me of the kids I play pick up with, pure ball hogs full of pace and no end product .... Absolute trash he is!!! I rather see us get higuian, Gonzalo prob cost 10m more and demands the same wages !!

Lets hope not

Any chance we might go for Viktor Fischer from Ajax or his teammate Kolbein Sigporssen?

Sigporssen is a class player

Just had a text from a girl at work. One of the fellas works as a commentator at st james park and has said carroll has signed for 15mill..... Please say its not true

Ok. It's not true
John a

Right. When you google a player's name, on the right side of the screen a picture of the player & a bit of details(player's height, full name etc.) are displayed. The last time I googled Andy Carroll(which was about 7 hours ago) the picture was of him in his Newcastle jersey. He's been here for more than a year. So I expected him to be in a Liverpool shirt. Make of it what you will. But I found it a bit odd tbh.

BROCK LESNAR

Not true and not a whisper about any signing of Carroll.

The Plank

The sooner he goes the better. He's become a white elephant. See ya average Andy. How many goals did he score? Not many! Rather play Morgan! Looks far more of a threat in front of goal. The new Fowler.

Why dont you want it to be true?

29 Aug 2012 03:48:02
at Brock Lesnar - Luis Suarez is in an Ajax shirt, been with us the same time, it is just a picture, and tbh i think its pretty nailed on Carroll will be sold now

27 Aug 2012 18:19:33
I think Liverpool are going to make a last min bid for ozil reports from spain thanks captain John boy

Yeah and while were at it why dont we bring in ronaldo and casillas

Come back down from La-La-Land mate!!

He is top class but I don't think we have the funds . Jason

Haha funny!,fantasy signing,never gonna happen.

Why do people bother with posting completely unrealistic transfer targets... My mate Dave has informed me that we are to sign Ronaldinho and Roberto Carlos on deadline day as the owners want to pay silly money for old players...

hmmmm.

There will be no bid for Daniel Sturridge.
We asked. Chelsea said £20 million. We said no thank you and goodnight.

Good news we cant afford to sell him anyway with Lakaku on loan.
Mind you a bargain by comparison with £35m for Carroll & £20m for Henderson !

Oh, weird...a Chelsea supporter talking about paying too much for players. Isn't that a bit ironic?

I posted several days ago that Chelski would ask £20 mill for him so I'm not in the least surprised.

Apparently West Ham have agreed a deal with us in principle to sign Joe Cole, it's now down to him to decide, I think he should go as he isn't good enough to lace Raheem's boots so won't get a game, also Spearing to Bolton is very close...

Thats bit harsh. Sterling is young and still has a lot to learn. Cole is a good player and deserves a chance. It should be the likes of Downing leaving whose attitude and ability is just poor on the whole.

Dont know why he came to us ,he dont want to sweat for the shirt, over 2 years he has been here and still living in a hotel that we are paying for.

I don't think he will go to be honest mate as i doubt West Ham will pay him the £90K a week he gets from us.

s

He was here for a year then played with Lille on loan so not 2 years really.

Jordan Rhodes will sign for Liverpool this week. The most surprising transfer of the window.

Since BR was quoted today as saying he hasn't finished making signings it is a possibility but no stupid fee please. The boy looks good but it's a huge step up into the EPL.

The Plank

That would be fantastic he has the potential to be one of the best strikers in England, but I really can't see it happening. Nice idea anyway.

This guy agrees.

A young natural goal scorer. Would fit into our squad nicely. Ramirez, Rhodes & Dempsey would complete our squad excluding a left-back.

Well, he is the right age and has scored a shed load of goals in the lower leagues. If we could pick him up for 5/6 million and it didn't work out we could always sell him on a not lose a load of dosh.

I reckon he is a real natural finisher and would be a really great 'surprise' buy. If we can buy him and Dempsey, lose Cole, Spearing and Adam things will really be looking up.

nuclearboy

The lad deserves a shot, no doubt! Wouldn't pay more than 7m for him tho. Jamie

I heard this too

Rhodes?
Where we're going, we don't need Rhodes!

Hope so, this boy could be anything, and if it didn't work, a championship side would pay the same fee to take him. But.. In all honestly I reckon he could be the new ian rush (if he does sign can't see dempsey coming) but I would be happy if jordan signs! Up the pool Y..N..W..A

Trust in Brendan. He's better than the lad who utd signed from Crewe. This lad is a goal machine

Is he gifted on the ball or good on the ball?

Apparently we've enquired into the possibility but are only prepared to bid £5 max, which means its very unlikely as Huddersfield have said repeatedly that his valuation is a non-negotiable £8 minimum.

Would rather get hooper

Well worth a punt at 5 mill, big strong and a great eye for goal, remember scored 40 goals last season, excellant in any league.

Rhodes is joining Celtic after Wednesdays game when they qualify for the Champions League

Please be true been posting it 4 weeks

Would be a great investment.. sign then send back to Huddersfield on a season long loan...One for the future...

Im town fan 1st liverpool 2nd believe me this kid is good i saw dennis law play 1st game for town this lad will be better in 12 months more like rvp

Villa to offer bent and 5 mill for carroll.

96YNWA

Don't think so. Not enough money really after what we paid for Carroll, although Bent would be nice!

In their dreams !!

I agree, would take Bent over Carroll any day of the week.

Bent is 5 years older than Carroll and not that outstanding a player. He's also had a bad injury recently. Also if Carroll isn't a BR type of player I doubt he'd fancy Bent either'

The Plank

I buy bent but I wouldn't sell Carroll. But if BR really wants rid then i would take that. Jaime

Id take the swap and give them 5 mill. seriously!

27 Aug 2012 17:05:18
I've heard that Liverpool are going up against Tottenham in a bid to sign M'Villa {Ed052's Note - No}

Dembele a powerhouse skinned the ute midfield

I think we shud. He's a great CDM and young. Perfect to have challenge Lucas. Look what happend when Lucas got injured. No one could replace him. Allen is a good addition but he's not mvilla quality. Might I add, BR is an person. Putting Carroll on with minutes to go. Insult him y don't u. That game was perfect to show his attributes off. Jamie

Even after shifting Spearing we won't be after a DM as both Lucas and Allen have no probs being sole DM. Gerrard, Sahin and Shelvey can all adapt to play in the 2-behind-1 in CM as well. Hendo is the worst tackler of the bunch but even he's ok.

According to SSN Spurs have had a £13 million offer for M'Villa rejected so unless we sell a few surplus players we sure as hell can't make an offer for him.

The Plank

We will need to bid around £17m so we will have to sell one or two but if we offer the right money i can see it happening.

my uncle works as a steward at liverpool and rumours around merseyside that mascherano is coming on loan to Liverpool for the remainder of the season. {Ed052's Note - hahah, no way}

That's funny dude, you sure he wasn't just asking for mascarpone cheese

He wouldn't get a game.

He left because his family couldn't settle in england

Cause we really need defensive midfielders don't we! SY YNWA

Who ever said Mascherano wouldn't get a game take your rose tinted specs off. Of course he would, he was sensational for us and hes fantastic for Barcelona.

Why? I loved Maschers and he certainly played his best football for us and for a time was very happy. Barcelona should never have bought him, now he's the World's smallest defender as Busquets is favoured in the defensive midfield role as he can get forward.

I just don't see it due to how many midfielders we already have. Take Adam, Spearing and Henderson away then i think it would be good but highly unlikely. Allen, Lucas, Gerrard, Sahin, Shelvey and Mascherano. Bearing in mind we only play three mids, not gonna happen, sad but true. If it does i'll be the first to love it and well done you though.

Please, man. At least post something a little more believable.

BROCK LESNAR

Just been looking about for this rumour and i've seen it was a rumour back in last January from Footybunker 30th of Jan 2012.

It even starts with ''Rumours around Merseyside are rife that Javier Mascherano is in Liverpool holding talks with Liverpool about a sensational return.''

Lucas > Mascherano

Mascherano burned his bridges with Liverpool when he refused to play for Hodgson against Man City and we got hammered. Dedicating a Champions League win over Man Utd to Liverpool doesn't make up for refusing to play as far as I'm concerned!

NB Red

Masherano is an integral squad member for Barca, there is no way he will be going anywhere this season.

My uncle also works as a steward and he heard we are tryin to swap charlie adam for phil mitchell. apparently he is a big fan of the soap

Thats why your uncle is just a steward, and he shouldnt be drinking on the job!

Though its a rumour site, bt also we mean business....plz don't make us laugh!!

Err... no chance

1) you're lying, and I could get more people to prove that you are, but that'd be a waste of my time.

2) Mascherano left because of Hicks and Gillette.

Dan

I agree thats one department we're sorted in. What I don't understand is the refusing to play v Man City. When Carragher refused to play at right back v Boro a few years back or Gerrard refused to come out for the 2nd half v Reading at home in the F.A. Cup, Rafa was scared to stand up to them in case it upset the locals. If they don't want to wear the shirt then they should f*ck off and that should go for everyone

Spearing close to BWFC move.
Pacheco close to return to Spain, he is also the only player on the site without a squad number, so that's further evidence he is going.
Cal

Hi cal, think your right i pointed that out about pacheco being without number about a week ago and the eds choose to ignore it good that you also observed this. ynwa van shep

I just went to check that out.

Was unusual to not see Aquilani on there.

TSP

Pacheco just got an injury so he will be out for a long time

Zincho

Thanks van shep and zincho I find myself for the second time saying Suarez made a facebook status about his friend from Uruguay called Pacheco being injured, not Dani...Dani is fine.
Cal

Zincho it's wasn't Dani Pacheco who got injured. It was Antonio Pacheco

If there's 1 person who was already at liverpool that BR's style of play would suit it's pacheco!

He could maybe be waiting to see what numbers are available as he would probably prefer no 37 but can't have that for obvious reasons

Hey ed002! Hope everything is good! Just a quick question, I read somewhere that LFC are looking to meet Fulham and sort out the Dempsey deal in the coming days, is that true? I personally think that he could make a huge difference for us! Answer would be appreciated! Cheers, Scouserseb {Ed002's Note - I expect a deal for Dempsey is achievable.}

Cheers for your quick reply! Do you think he would chose us before Sunderland? Cheers, Scouserseb {Ed052's Note - Yes}

If Dempsey signs does that rule out Sturridge?
Thanks {Ed052's Note -No, but we are not intereted in Sturridge}

Right pleased to hear that as a Chelsea fan !

Dempsey is a decent player. I just hopin it doesn't turn out to be a big fish in a small pond situation

Are you sure?as johnson and wickham selected sunderland over you and dempsey is supposed to be having a medical now {Ed005's Note - Liverpool never made a bid for Johnson it was just interest. Wickham - we never matched their asking price, thankfully. Get the facts right sonny.}

27 Aug 2012 13:33:31
Ed002 is Affelay leaving Barca? if so where too? Are Liverpool still interested? {Ed002's Note - He is available on loan and I suspect Liverpool may well be interested - along with plenty of others - Zenit, Dortmund, Schalke, Arsenal, Spurs and Newcastle.}

27 Aug 2012 12:51:32
Dempsey to liverpool could still be on, fulham have accepted a bid from sunderland but dempsey does NOT want to leave as he is still holding out for a liverpool move. Also, theo walcott is believed to be unhappy with his current situation at arsenal and would be open to a possible move for regular first team football.

He won't get it here if he can't get it at arsenal

Theo walcott is not better than who we have here, he wouldn even make our bench right now, simonpw

Looks like Carroll to Newcastle is edging closer. Newcastle expected to bid £17m this week. They are getting desperate to sign Carroll now as Ba and Cisse are playing in the African cup of nations this January.

Ba and cisse are NOT a certain to be playing in the ACON this winter, as senegal and the ivory coast have to play in a playoff game, with only the winners going!

{Ed052's Note - Hello again all. I would just like to say that my latest profile is that of Clint Dempsey, who could well be the next signing for Liverpool. It can be found at; http://www.player-profiles.co.uk/clint-dempsey.php

Newcastle offered £9.5m for Carroll + Demba Ba. Rodgers doesn't want Ba..

Ed002?

BROCK LESNAR {Ed002's Note - Not that I am aware but I expect a better cash offer, probably acceptable, will be made this week.}

Carroll has to stay. He offers something different

Newcastle should either pay £20 million or look else where.

I'd be happy keeping Carroll, he'll incorporate himself with the rest of the team. It's what footballers do.

Ben Arfa please

I really rate Demba Ba, was at the game against Newcastle last year and the way he ran at us reminded me of the 2000 version of Owen. But he doesn't appear to be a thinker, drifts in and out of games - just probabll not a good fit for our managers vision.

And I think we have to play the Carroll situation close to our chests, if we don't get 25M for him we have a hungry player with buckets of potential - it's win-win for us.

I feel we would accept around 15 million pounds. What do you reckon Ed ? {Ed002's Note - £17.5}

No chance of ba signing post at least a decent rumor.. i predict that ben afra will be a real madrid player at the end of the year what a world class player he will be.

It would be a big mistake getting rid of Carroll, they need 4 top strikers, and won't attract anyone world class. He wants to stay and learn.
If he goes back to Newcastle and scores 20 goals a season for the next 10 years Rodgers is going to look pretty naive.

If BR sells Carroll, I don't think I'll back him. He looks good when he is on the field, he is always fighting to get into first team. For that, I think he deserves at least half a season.

If we sell Carroll & replace him with a 20 goal a season striker ! I don't care how much we get for him !

Why would newcastle offer us ba and money? ba is a regular starter for them, carroll isnt for us. newcastle want carroll to give them more depth up top, which is not going to be achieved by flogging ba to us and also imo ba is better than avatar so why would they want to swap him plus cash? if we get any more than 15m we have done really well. as for the fella that said ben arfa, we have more chance of rooney signing.

27 Aug 2012 11:54:46
Jordan Rhodes was at Anfield yesterday. He may well have been there just for the game. But make of that what you will.

Maybe just a spectator and coincidence but I would take him as another attacking option. If nothing else he knows where the goal is and surely would convert some of our chances. But not at the silly prices being quoted. saying that someone will take a chance on him.

Kev the Red

Agreed, for 8 million it's worth a punt. worse case he is sold on for 5M back to championship. we have wasted far more over the years _ Morientes, Cisse, Baros etc DJ ps that game was crying out for Carroll yesterday. took far too long to get him on. no point selling him at such a loss. he really threathened them when he came on. plus we now have the quality to feed him

I like the idea of Jordan Rohdes, he's earned his strips in the lower leagues and it's all a bit like it used to be.

The lad scored 30 goals, outside the box, inside the box, rounding the keeper, in the air and from the spot, he's a goal scorer. Now that can't be a fluke, can it?

I so wish this was true, he is a natural finisher.

I don't care that it was in a league 2 tiers lower than the premier league, when you are a ntural goalscorer, you can do it at all levels, and to score 40+ goals in a season shows that boy certainly knows where the net is.

Think he would be a fantastic addition and just the sort of player we need in and around the box to finish the numourous chances we create

Andy

He'd be just the signing Brendan would go for, he's worth 5 mill I reckon. Brendan is doing a really good job so I'd trust his judgement whoever he buys. If he thinks Jordan Rhodes is the man, that's fine by me.

Get him Brendan! Rhodes would be a great signing.

Big Andy Carrol has got to be given a run look at the way Torres has come GOOD with new player around him give BIG ANDY a chance you will not be sorry

Get him in - he could turn out to be the new Aldridge!!

Torres can control the ball, outpace defenders, go past defenders, create goals, finish chances etc. Carroll can do none. He only knows how to head the ball. Torres is a thousand times better player than Carroll. That's why he's doing well at Chelsea. Carroll will have to be sold. That'd be the best for him & the team.

BROCK LESNAR

I have to agree with Brock Lesnar here. Everybody calling for carroll to stay needs to see that he simply will not under any circumstance fit in with rodgers style of play.

Rodgers likes to play quick one/two touch passing, where a player receives the ball, quickly offloads and finds new space.

Andy carroll simply is not quick enough in terms of pace or on the ball to fit in with this system, plus added to the fact that rodgers plays his wingers on the opposite sides so that they can cut in on their favourite foot to create a front 3 means that crosses into the box will be limited.

Now i understand we will have to take a big loss on carroll and I'm not saying he's not a good player, he's just not a player that will fit in with the style of play, so if we have to accept £15-18m for him then I'd rather cut our losses, and bring in another striker for £15-18m that will suit our play rather than having carroll sat on the bench getting 5-10 mins at the end of each game which is only going to decrease his value further.

Andy

Well said Brock and Andy ... if Jordan Rhodes is bought by Brendan as one of our strikers would you back his judgement even if Jordan is untried and tested at the top level? Or would you rather we went for a striker with a little more experience at the highest level? Personally I'd go for Dempsey AND Rhodes. There's a real feel good factor after yesterdays game despite the slightly disappointing result when the win was looking very good for us. If we add the likes of Dempsey and Rhodes I'd feel pretty confident about the squad.

Del Boy

And that comes straight from the horses mouth, cheers andy. All the best.

All you Pool fans knocking AC playing style need to look at the interview with Joe Hart in yesterdays Sunday mirror .See what a fellow pro thinks of his all round play and many other pros really rate him too for that matter.

Del Boy, I agree with you. Rhodes & Dempsey would be good signings for our beloved club......imo

BROCK LESNAR

I agree both dempsey and rhodes would be good signings. If i had to pick between the two I'd prefer Rhodes, simply for the fact that he is exactly what we were missing all last season, a poacher who can put the ball in the net more times than he misses!

I never said carroll was a bad player, and Joe harts always going to say good things about him, they are england team mates, but carroll thrives on either crosses from wide, or long balls from the back which he can flick on or hold up, neither of which are a feature of brendan rodgers game. Carroll is not a one touch player, simple as. He is slow and laboured in his movement and is not the type of player to play on the last shoulder of defenders and get in behind which is what the front striker needs to do under rodgers.

Andy

Right. Joe Hart will say, "Carroll is a horrible player. He'll never fit into BR's style." Is this what you expected? Carroll is a decent player but not under BR or for Liverpool. In the 2nd half of last season we adapted his style of play and he got as many as 2 goals then. That is the time when our form was terrible. Because our attack was Carroll-centered. We are playing football the right way now. If we switch to long balls now just because of him then we're done for. So, for the better interest of our club & Carroll, he should leave.

BROCK LESNAR

Andy Carroll would fit in with a team that likes to play with a big man up front, Stoke, West Ham, would be the kind of teams who would like his services but he'll almost certainly go back to Newcastle. And good luck to the lad, but Brendan clearly has his eyes on players with speed and skill who will keep the ball on the floor, this is why Dempsey and Rhodes would suit the team and both are more prolific than Andy in front of goal particularly Rhodes albeit in a lower division, but in a team like Liverpool I could see Rhodes doing very well.

I would say that Rhodes goal scoring stat is good. Played 159 senior games and scored 83 goals. Doesn't matter he come from a Championship team, the fact that he average 1 goal every two match justifies his price tag.

I have just four words for those who think natural finishers score goals regardless of the division: Ted MacDougall, and Rob Earnshaw.

Don't forget Steve Bull and Brett Angel.

Jordan Rhodes may be a good signing but he'll be a bench warmer, nothing more. We need proven quality if we buy Jordan why not put Suso in the first team too if we're taking chances.

Daniel Narciso

I have two words for those who think that natural finishers score goals regardless of the division. Ian Rush.

Don't forget Jermain Defoe

Yes I saw him too, he was sat in between Nelson Mandella and Kylie Minogue

Kevin Keegan came from Scunthorpe and did pretty well if I recall.

Rhodes also scored in his full international debut a couple weeks ago...and prior to that he scored 8 goals in 8 games for the Scotland's U21s...the fact he keeps scoring in all forms of football he plays means he's a natural

Rhodes would prove to be far more prolific than average Andy. He's a proper goal machine, untested at the top level but at least he won't be over hyped like slow average Andy and his rubbish goal record.

He maybe from a lower division but he is nautural finisher - scored 30 + goals.
Goal post are still the same width from league one and the primier league...

27 Aug 2012 11:53:10
Liverpool looking at Jermaine Defoe as a short term option. A mate who writes for a Spurs fanzine reckons he will only cost 3-4 million.

Hope this isn't true

He would be an awesome buy for 4 mill. He is a natural finisher with premiership experience.
RedRich

Daniel Levy would add £4 million to any potential deal Liverpool were interested in with any Spurs players, just because we are Liverpool.

Agree with redrich. defoe is always a danger...expensive wages tho?

27 Aug 2012 11:17:40
Liverpool are willing to meet Aston Villas 13 million pound asking price for Darren Bent.

I can only hope you're a liar.

Ash

So Villa are going to sell a bloke they paid £24m 18 months ago for £13m?

Get off the meth.

I sincerely bloody hope not.
solidair

We are going to be selling a bloke for £15m when we paid £35m so that statement does not make sense

What so Liverpool are gonna sell a young powerful striker who doesn't fit Rodgers system and use the money to sign an older powerful striker who doesn't fit Rodgers system. Hmmmm

Irishdom15

Noooo. I wish people would stop talking about Darren bent

So we get to play him while he's always injured, we've already got enough second-raters !! Nearly19

Impossible to beleive that Villa would entertain such an awful business and football decision!

After Saturday's episode of Red or Black should'nt we be looking at Zamora? {Ed052's Note - Yes. We have made a ''X'' turn on transfers, and are consulting Ant on Dec's Red or Black scouting network.}

Don't want Bent, he is garbage and would not bring any improvement to the team.

Diggler

I'm a Charlton fan and I think you should have got Bent before he went to Villa. He ain't the greatest player but I tell you now he would have won you loads of games you drew last season.Andy Carroll not in the same league at scoring goals and that's what wins you games. You have great players and given the chances you make would again be top English goalscorer. If you don't buy him put a bid in for Harry's missus.Hope you make top four respect to you all.

Probably sounds like something we do

hope this as true don't want at lfc
No conformation from Sunderland or Fulham - but suggestions Clint Dempsey will have a medical tomorrow at Sunderland

If Sunderland get Clint Dempsey.... damn that's a fine signing. Sessengnon, Dempsey, Johnson... that is one hell of an attacking trio

redstatto

Don't forget James McClean or Seb Larsson aswell...

RedKopite

Why dont you want him.
ok the way he has delt with not being allowed to leave is out of order. but he is a very good player and scores lots of goals.

Liverpool Echo did state last week that LFC no longer interested in Dempsey. Yeah I know we ignore paper talk but local Echo does tend to be a bit more reliable than most!

Don't want at LFC yet you describe it as a fab signing for Sunderland...

You strike me as the type who criticises when we're linked with a player.. Then we he does well elsewhere you criticise us for not signing him..

Can you point me in the direction of these "suggestions"? I seem to be quite unable to find them.

Tristan

Any player who scores 17 premier league goals in a season is good enough for me.

I can only find this story on talksport... please don't use that b*llocks as rumours... we want this site to keep its integrity.

HBRED

DP {Ed052's Note - HAHA. Carn't post that though, sorry mate, bloody hilarious though.}

Liverpool to push for Dempsey again this week. Dempseymwill not move to Sunderland as he wants European football {Ed052's Note - True}

Bet you didn't want BR to sign that shyte player Allen from that lower club Swansea either !

We need pace and if we are buying dempsey thats not going to help might score a few goals but so did kuyt and they both have the same amount of pace none .
allen top buy has proven in 2 games we should concentrate on centre forward and yes it was off talksport and i know they talk rubbishe but they have to be right sometime hopefully this time .

Hi eds are the rumour about huntelaar true {Ed002's Note - There is no interest from Liverpool that I am aware of at this time, but I understand he is open to hearing any offers made to Schalke. They certainly do not want to sell as it is going well for him in Gelsenkirchen and want him to sign a two year extension to his contract - and he wants to only sign for a further year. However, Schalke said that they would likely sell if he refuses to agree any contract extension begore August 25, and he hasn't. Zenit and a couple of Italian sides are waiting in the wings.}

Unbelievable
