eds, I know you've already said that we are interested in signing matias suarez, but is it true that we're in pole position to sign him?
YNWA {Ed001's Note - no, I would say Arsenal are from what I have heard, they pay more than we do and will probably have Champions League to offer as well.}

Ed isn't podolski gonna go to arsenal? If so why wud matias be wanted by arsenal unless for a winger position that is also token by Walcott? {Ed001's Note - don't ask me, unless RVP is going and Podolski is to replace him, I have no idea. I just know they are interested and they were the team he is supposedly keen to join.}

Ed is it true that Arsenal pays better than Us as Arsenal are known for paying their players little per week

Cape Town Red {Ed002's Note - That is what he said.}

Arsenal pay more than we do??? i think ed is trying tell a joke

Arsenal is paying more than us eds? {Ed002's Note - That is what he said.}

And what says the Ed002? {Ed002's Note - Don't drag me in to this.}

26 Mar 2012 22:15:45
ed do you think munian could be a possibility in the summer {Ed001's Note - no, though he is up for sale.}

How much is he up for sale? Surely when a player is for sale they are at a price of at least their valuation (for him about 25m). Is he too good for us? {Ed001's Note - 40m.}

Munian has the world at his feet.why would he be interested in joining a mid table side?

Therefore, I will be amazed if anyone does actually sign him if his valuation stays the same. No way his is worth 40m {Ed001's Note - I forget to add Euros! The valuation was in Euros.}

edds, read a few rumours on the internet tonight about us being interested in Arjen Robben and reports claiming we have a deal in place forJackson Martinez, do you know if either are true, or are we interested in them?

cheers {Ed001's Note - Robben gets paid more than any of our players, way above what we will pay. Not sure about Martinez, I have heard the rumours but don't have anything either way regarding him.}

Low wages and no CL. Our team hasnt progressed much. I am not a fan of Rafa due to his poor man management but we cant even reach his minimum points tally anymore.

Arjen Robben would be a great signing. I would pay him what he wanted.

Arjen Robben Wants to move to Milan next

Deals for clint dempsey and steven fletcher will be agreed in the summer both having great seasons! Maybe not fletcher as much as dempsey but kenny sees him as a ideal partner for our other strikers and knows he will shine in a lpool side.

April fools is still a few days away mate...

Like he thought carrol would do well

OMG please let this be true!

Gav United

Wow you must be really bored to write such nonsense...

26 Mar 2012 20:57:54
Eds do you know if we have any interest in Steven Fletcher? {Ed001's Note - he has been looked at, yes.}

Do you think he would make a good signing ed?
josh {Ed001's Note - I don't know, he looks a decent enough player, but not sure if he is quite good enough to move us up a level.}

26 Mar 2012 21:20:33
Mancini wants Alberto aquilani and is willing to do a swap deal involving either James Milner or edin dzeko! I hear we will have to pay some cash also....

And its not even summer..

And he's not even our player any more...i think 2 more games and he belongs to AC MILAN

Aquilani has made it clear he doesn't want to play in England. I wish I was true but it isn't I would take dzeko if I had to choose one thou.

I hope Mancini doesn't know that aqua doesn't want to play in England and we get a top quality striker

WRONG.... he just played his 25th competitive game for AC at the weekend invoking the clause is his contract that means his permanent transfer has to through for 6m , he's gone now hopefully our fans can stop talking s**te about him

Jacob butterfield
Jason Lowe
Wilfred Zaha

Good chance Liverpool F.C will land the above 3 England under 21 internationals in the summer. This is not 100% but I hear our scouts are looking at them this season up until the summer.

I am a barnsley lad and can vouge for buuterfield hes a great player before his injury he was our best player, this can be shown by the fact that we have been playin pretty badly with out him although i dont think he would be able to step up to being a regular at team like liverpool he would be a good player for a lower to mid table team in the prem and mabye one day he could make the step up to a bigger club, and i reckon he has a very good chance at being a top player

eds am i right that liverpool have shown interest in every of the following players?

Matias Suarez
Gaston Ramirez
Jefferson Farfan
Junior Hoilett
Roberto Soldado
Moussa Sissoko

If yes, do you think we have a realistic chance of getting a couple or more of them in the summer? {Ed001's Note - yes and possibly.}

I dont think Soldado will be swapping spain for england and I think Ramirez will end up at either Juve or Inter.

Nevada

Without cl i think soldado will find it hard to leave spain,a possible move in jan might be better.
i think we have a chance of ramirez tho

No chance Danny Graham £7m, Adam Johnson 14m, and maybe tempt Scott Danny and certain Xabi Alonso

26 Mar 2012 19:31:36
17-year old Joel Pohjanpalo from Finnish champions HJK Helsinki will be having a trial with Liverpool this week.

No point kenny not trust young player.

He doesn't trust young players because of the pressure to achieve results. Now that he doesn't have any pressure in the league anymore he will field younger players more frequently, hence the introduction of sterling. However do not expect too much as I believe he doesn't want to keep losing until the season ends, but I believe we will see more of the academy players playing such as shelvey, flanno, Robinson and perhaps coast, sterling and suso.

26 Mar 2012 19:08:09
Ed do you think liverpools transfer budget will be 25 million plus player sales? And also out of luke de jong or matias suarez who do you think we are most likely to sign {Ed001's Note - it doesn't work like that, this isn't FM12.}

How does it work then eds? {Ed001's Note - the coaching staff decide what positions they would like filled, they then decide which players they want and speak to the board about it. Then the board says yes or no. There is no set amount available.}

I think Mr henry just has a stack of cash ready... And its up to KK and DC to convince him his money is going to be invested wisely. I would imagine it to be similar to dragons den, with only one dragon of course.

I wis it was FM11, I bought Neymar for 4m, got offered Ronaldo for 25m, and Reina hasn't conceded for about 6 games now (I have hired Seaman as my GK coach, so maybe that explains it) GET SEAMAN IN!!

The striker I'm keeping my eye on is Bas Dost. I first seen this guy very early on this season and didn't think much of him, but the more I watch him the more I'm impressed.

He's 22 years old, stands at 6'5" and quite gangly like Peter Crouch. However if you watch him play, or just see the goals he has scored, you'll see they're all in and around the 6-yard box.

His height and awkwardness would be the perfect foil for Suarez. Now I know we've heard that one before (Big Andy), but this guy is quite mobile and has a good finish.

Any clubs keeping tabs on the player Ed(s)?

Cheers,
Stone YNWA. {Ed001's Note - a few have, I have not heard of us being amongst them though.}

Dont we already have a tall gangly striker who should be perfect foil for Suarez?

Who hardly plays alongside suarez and hardly ever receives wing service.

Pass and move football is not really conductive with big forwards. Hence why Ibra didnt last at Barca and maybe why Carroll has not done so well here.

Nevada

One big lump is enough at Anfield. Liverpool need a quick on the break, mobile striker, who's dangerous in and around the penalty box. A Robbie Fowler or dare I say it Fernando Torres type player if you will.

26 Mar 2012 18:19:03
eds will Liverpool have to sell before they can buy in the summer?
{Ed001's Note - no.}

We should do tho, i can think off a few players who need to pull thier fingers out.
max

26 Mar 2012 17:02:42
hey eds

i heard you say earlier that dalglish's job is certain until the semi final. will they be holding meeting after to decide on his job?

also how long is sterlings contract for? {Ed002's Note - I have no idea which Ed said that. And I have no idea how long Sterling signed up for. Sorry.}

Sterling is 3 years. {Ed001's Note - U18s can only have 3 year contracts as a maximum.}

26 Mar 2012 16:26:35
Ed ben smith (the times) reckons that dalglishs job is not even under threat. Do you know that is wrong as you seem quite confident that the owners will at least consider his situation at the club? {Ed002's Note - People will have differing opinions, the Independent are going with my view. There is zeo point in trying to play people off against one another. Try writing to Smith and asking why he disagrees with me.}

Can i just ask, what is the line of thinking, which brings you to the conclusion that kd will be gone next season. sorry if you have already explained this at length but could you please clarify I have obviously missed something. {Ed002's Note - I am not really understanding want you are expecting. I have given an opinion about what I expect to happen with regard to the manager. I am not sure what you are expecting to be said.}

26 Mar 2012 16:09:52
Eds, any chance of us getting some Man City players who aren't regulars.

The likes of Milner and Adam Johnson would be great for our midfield.

Do you also see Adebayor as an option, or is he nailed on to be at Spurs next year.

Cheers
CSE9 {Ed002's Note - Slim chance of Johnson perhaps but it will always have to be a no to random players the club has shown no interest in. Sorry.}

Milner isn't fringe.

People complain about us buying british players yet they want more of them..

Yeah the difference is these are quality, proven british players.

What exactly makes a quality, proven British player?

Milner was outstanding at Villa but hasn't been that great at City. Downing was player of the season for Villa but hasn't been as good for Liverpool.

Maybe the reason they don't seem to be considered first team regulars is because they are only squad players at best.

26 Mar 2012 15:35:38
Eds whats the latest on De Jong(FC Twente) coming to us, are we still front runners? {Ed002's Note - There is no new news. He certainly remains of interest to Liverpool.}

26 Mar 2012 15:18:27
Eds,
has Liverpool serious interest in matias suarez or is this just another media nonsense? {Ed002's Note - Liverpool along with Arsenal, Newscastle and Juventus have shown an interest in Matias Suarez.}

26 Mar 2012 14:55:36
hi eds, has lfc any interest in sturridge ? thanks steve {Ed001's Note - yes, in the past we have shown interest. I would hope that we no longer would have any interest in him, he is a ball hog who doesn't understand the word team.}

I used to get slaughtered by my friends for saying that ed.... im glad we have the same opinion on him. with liverpools style we are looking for people who makes quick passes. i know people questions hendersons ability but i seriously think he will come good once he becomes more confident.

His a bit like luis suarez then

Yes i believe henderson, once more confident in shooting, will become a great player for us. i have seen him make passes where other players on the team would not have thought of. mainly against everton when he had a huge part helping suarez get two assists. most people forget he is still under 21 that bing said i would still like shelvey to get more games aswell as i believe they are both real talents

Ball hogs create the best players.... gorege best luis suarez, c.ronaldo, the list goes players that want to move fowerd even if his own players dont is what english football needs not more holder and square ball passers

26 Mar 2012 12:31:31
Ben Smith Reckons Daglish's job is safe but he does not think there will be much to spend in the summer & that some player's who have come in may have to leave in order to fund moves for other player's he is a pretty accurate Liverpool Journo...

RED87

Dalglish will still be manager when the season starts, no doubt about it.

He also said in the summer there would be no more signings and suprise suprise, bellamy signed a couple of days later.

If thats the case then we are stuffed.. RELEGATION here we come. Pls FSG Remove Kenny from South Park and make Steve Clarke caretaker till end of season after the FA cup game.

Chill out! It has always been said that if the right target became available, then money will be made available, don't believe everything you read, you really think they won't spend money to get us to where we want to be?

I take this with a pinch of salt. we have not spent the £100 million plus the press would have you think. we have had only a net spend of £37 million.everyone forgets that we have a new shirt deal starting next season, up from the paltry £7 million we got from addidas to £30 million from warrior, thats £23 million more. plus ian ayre said that the deal was in effect double that as the deal is only for kit and training gear, not everything else like it was with addidas. so we are not in the financial dire straights that the press would have you believe. dont forget europa league revenue as well, not as much as champions league, but it all counts. {Ed002's Note - You are miles away with the figures.}

Can you explain ed plese {Ed002's Note - I have no time to explain the sponsorship amounts again. Try the search function but as it is clear your knowledge of the finances is zilch, my recommendation is for you to prise the £ key from your keyboard and throw it away.}

Sorry the addidas deal was £12 million a year, warrior still £18 million a year better. the warrior deal was £150 million over 5 years, but it could be worth double that as its only kit and training gear, lfc will have all the rights over everything else. the words of ian ayre in the liverpool echo, and not mine. net transfer spend was £37.7 million since dalglish took charge.
Ins:
Carroll £35m
Suarez £22.8m
Downing £20m
Henderson £16m
Adam £6.75m
Enrique £5.5m
Coates £7m
Total Spend: £113.05m

Outs:
Torres £50m
Meireles £12m
Babel £6m
Ngog £4m
Konchesky £1.5m
Mavinga £1m
Ayala £0.85m
Total Sales: £75.35m

NET Spend: £37.7 {Ed002's Note - You are not grasping a number of things such as the length of the Warrior deal - what Ian Ayre meant etc.. Just drop anything to do with the financials as it will get even more embarrassing for you.}

I stand corrected on the length of the deal, its 6 yrs not 5.but if you do some research you will find that everything is as i said. all unbranded products currently covered and included in the addidas deal is not in the warrior deal

I dont think kenny will be there next season, i think he will be moved aside and a young manager will be brought on board. id like avb, give him time and money and he would do a great job, provrn credentials at porto, chelsea are idiots for getting rid

Net spend of 37 must be considered against a HUGE drop in wages over the next few years.

Bottom line is, lots of money coming into the club. BUT NO NET SPEND ON THE PLAYING STAFF!

Not good.

I dont know if it is more money coming into the club. i think we are just losing less
NZL_red {Ed002's Note - All the figures given were just misleading. The Adidas amount is wrong, the Warrior amount was wrong, the length of the Warrior contract was wrong. No account is taken of agent fees, VAT, VAT on agent fees, paying off the likels of El Zhar to leave, Joe Cole's wages, Aquilani's wages, even Poulsen's wages. Hopeless.}

26 Mar 2012 12:27:33
Hi Eds, I noticed how Edin Dzeko isn't getting a game for City and I was wondering if he actually wants to leave like the reports are saying and if he did would we be interested and do you think we would have a chance?
I know its very hypothetical but it would be far less risky than buying an unproven striker.
Thanks, great site!! {Ed001's Note - right now they aren't looking to sell him, but they can afford to hang onto players until they sign a replacement, rather than selling a player to fund the replacement. So outgoings will mostly be down to who comes in. There are a few fringe players that they do see as surplus, I have not heard of any suggestion he is in that group as of yet.}

Why would we even want Dzeko? hes the same type of player as carrol, only good with his head, and with the lack of wingers getting in cross's like we have, he would just be another flop like carrol!

26 Mar 2012 11:29:04
question to both eds...any news on dalglish future,is he staying as manager for next season,or is he going back to head of youth or possibly leave..anything? {Ed001's Note - there will be no news yet, there is an FA Cup semi to come before any decision will be made.}

I don't see that winning the FA and league cups can be seen as serious progress. Teams from the Championship are now getting to the final of both cups so how is that progress ? Yes 2 trophies maybe, but top 4 champions league football is progress and we are a million miles away at the moment
I like KD but i don't think he should be in charge of Liverpool next season, his signings have een awful, and the rest are just not doing it on the pitch, its embarrassing

Daglish's signings have been awful?

Enrique, Bellamy, Coates, Suarez. Yes some others haven't set the world alight, but they were never going to, they were here to strengthen weak positions, provide an english core, provide potential and to add squad depth which we seriously lacked.

Aside from 3 of the above , yes they have??? £35 MILLION POUNDS for Carroll?? £20m for Downing?? Insanity!! Cavani would have been an option at £35 million?!!

Enrique (Spanish) , Bellamy (Welsh) , Suarez and Coates (both Uruguayan)?

£35m on Carroll (English)
£20m on Downing etc (English)
£17m on Henderson (English)
£7m Adam (Scottish)
Just to strengthen the squad??

If it was any other manager who made the same howlers they would be gone by now!!

26 Mar 2012 07:22:11
Ed without champions league, do u think we can get matias Suarez ? {Ed002's Note - Sure but there is interest from other clubs as well. Arsenal, Newscastle and Juventus have shown an interest in Matias Suarez as werll as Liverpool.}

Again will people please wake up,what players in there right mind would want to join us now???

Plenty of players will still want to join Liverpool

Massive, massive step up from the Belgian league to the Prem. Be like signing a player doing well in the championship.

26 Mar 2012 06:49:40
Lfc scouts have been tracking van wolfinskel and are pretty impressed with that guy.Is he a decent enough player?-mihir

26 Mar 2012 05:15:39
Hello Eds,
any chance of Ibrahimovic? cheers. {Ed002's Note - Not this summer.}

Hes one lazy b**tard. He would struggle at the pace of our game.

26 Mar 2012 00:02:28
According to Comolli's son, Liverpool are negotiating deals for Nathan Redmond (18) from Birmingham City who is earmarked for the right wing position and David Texeira (21) of FC Groningen to partner Suarez up front - both targets fit in with FSG's player recruitment policy.

CM

Comolli's son? I bet Damien comes home at night, reads him a bed time story, tucks him in and explains who we'd like to sign.

Dad? is that you?

Comolli is 39! - How old is his son?

Through the Storm

Comolli and his son need to do one,and as for fsg's recruitment policy.....crap,start getting good experienced pro's in,we've got enough kids to start our own secondary school

I live in Derby many years ago Derby County under the then owner had the policy of buying home grown young players, they spent millions on half the then under 21 england team players. They dropped down the league like a stone!!

rasone

Do you think it was his son that advised him to pay all that money for Downing, Henderson and Carroll?

FSG's transfer policy may well work in baseball but as a strategy it was completely untested in football. If we learn anything from this season let's hope it's that we need to go back to the drawing-board and revise the recruitment policy. I believe that less quantity and more quality is required regardless of age. If we can combine both then great, but it can't be the only criterion.

Pepe's barber.
